Everyso often you come across a gem of a pub that you wish you'd known about sooner.. This is one of those. You really ought to make an effort to go here. Bar area is small like a snug, but the restaurant side is roomy with 8 or so tables with room enough for small groups. Food menu is short, but niche. As you'll see from other reviews the pies are excellent. However the other offerings are just as good. It's proper wholesome pub food. You won't leave feeling hungry. Very large rear outdoor seating area and carpark spaces....or bike spaces. Ideal situation for cyclists to stop off and refuel I'd say: add it to your Strava route map. Front seating area too overlooking the quiet country lane. Hospitable friendly knowledgeable staff make you feel welcome. The real ale, although only 2 pumps, is typically locally sourced. You'll likely get something quite unique. Should get a note from CAMRA if not already listed. Wine menu good too for such a small bar.

We met family here for lunch as they'd just moved into Farley, we got held up so were late arriving for the booking, my family let them know and they said no problem for still having lunch. Even when we got there they didn't hurry us into ordering, the gentlemen serving was very attentive, pleasant & pretty hilarious - we have to have a laugh in life.. A few dishes had sold out, we view that as a good sign that they don't keep fresh food hanging around. There was still plenty to choose from, the food we all went for was hot, very tasty, generous portions and well worth sitting in traffic for hours for. Lovely pub, which I believe TA doesn't include as 'within range of Salisbury' but it is and is worth stopping at. We need to keep the village pubs alive..

What a gem. Laid back country pub, I thought it was a house, with the owner wishing it was a pub, with its sign hanging, but no super little boxer to sit and relax, with a lovely libation of your choice. I can't wait to sample its fare in a fortnight.

Most disappointing Sunday lunch we have had for many years it was recommended, I can only assume they got this pub mixed up with the Silver Plough in the next village. Everything we had was tasteless, there can be no complaints about the quantity if thats your remit but personally I would rather have less but more flavour! A pub with no Guiness ! Plastic packets of condiments without salt and when we requested a salt mill were provided with further packets and the salt was damp and stuck together! The staff are very friendly and accommodating but unfortunately this doesn’t make up for the aforementioned shortcomings. Will definitely will not be returning and with hindsight we all thought that we should’ve left when the old dirty menus that had seen better days were given to us! I cannot believe how good the reviews are on this pub, I can only assume that Wiltshire folk are easily impressed!!

The lady explained what's in the food and we ordered the game pie and the chicken ham and leek pies. Both pies are think deep and full. Very tasty and pastry perfectly cooked crisp chunky chips. And season veg to top it off absolutely lovely and full of taste. Lemon tarte and maltesser cheesecake both full of. Flavour and good sized. My only little issue was the runny gravy with the pie tasty but didn't coat the pie or the chips. And the chicken ham and leek pie would be better served with a cheese sauce maybe?? Anyway still lovely place and food

Booked Sunday lunch for 2.30 couldn't do later as they stop serving food at 3pm even though the pub closes at 6pm. I ordered beef, which was very tender & tasty however the veg consisted of Broccoli, baby carrots & broad beans, which were tasteless. The Yorkie was past it's best the same as the roast potatoes. They had obviously been kept warm in the oven so you needed a hack saw to cut through the hardened potato skin, really disappointed, especially as it cost £15.50 a head I believe. So make sure you eat early when the food is freshly cooked.

It seems a bit ‘out of the way’, but from Salisbury (A 30), just go straight through Pitton, and in Farley go past the handsome church to this smallish pub with a quite spacious dining area, with pictures by local artists on show. Friendly, attentive service bringing delicious food: we had roast lamb (tender and good gravy, and one lady had the ‘smaller portion’ - quite adequate!), but could have had roast pork. I had game pie, not one of those individual ones, but a generous slice of a proper large pie - you get more, juicy meat - with delicious sauce, chips if you want them as well as veg. Good Lister’s (Sussex) bitter - it’s a free house. For afters we shared a generous slice of chocolate fudge cake with ice cream, and we each were given both spoons and forks to eat with, (tho’ the flimsy paper serviettes could be improved on). Recommended.

Unfortunately the food was very poor but this might of been an off day as all the other reviews seem quite good and the last time I came here I had no complaints. Had a Sunday Roast and the beef was chewy and fatty to start with (one of the worst I’ve ever had). The vegetables were okay, the gravy had no taste and was watery. The roast potatoes were rock hard and the Yorkshire pudding tasted like a frozen one. Very disappointed today but hopefully next time will be better.

Fresh fish dishes change as the local catch permits (the fish is amazing!). Fish, rib-eye steaks, burgers, lasagne we had were mouthwateringly good and portions were a great size for us 4 hungry walkers (with our 4 dogs in toe hoping for a morsel). The Hook and Glove is a wonderful village pub in SALISBURY; ok its 4 miles outside but still inthe Salisbury postcode. The food, beer and welcome is outstanding. Come on Tripadvisor re-register the Hook and glove in Salisbury not Farley. If this doesn't happen another unique and wonderful pub will close; previously 60% of the pub's trade came vai Tripadvisor!

We recently moved into the neighbouring village and decided to have lunch in the pub. The Hook and Glove is in an idyllic village setting with ample parking to the rear. We were greeted so warmly by the staff and made to feel very welcome. Both of us chose the goats cheese salad as a main (it's available as a starter) and it was delicious. For dessert I had the malteser cheesecake and my wife had the sticky toffee tart- both were extremely generous portions and tasted fabulous. Thank you for such a lovely lunch. We will definitely be back and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

I go to the Hook and Glove every couple of months, usually either cycling or walking. Sometimes I just have a drink, sometimes a delicious lunch, freshly cooked with fresh ingredients, always with a special twist. It is always a pleasure, a warm welcome and a cosy ambiance. I will be back very soon.

We have visited the hook and glove for many years bringing business colleagues, from around the world, friends and family, each and every one has always complemented the service, staff and food supplied at the Hook and Glove, telling us how fortunate we are to live in such a lovely village and to have this on our doorstep and being so close to visitor attractions in the Salisbury area. It’s also great for the locals to get together and welcomes new residents coming to live in Farley, with Salisbury on their doorstep for employment, schooling , medical care and shopping.

More style and price, than substance. Lovely setting, beautiful rambling walled garden with posh servers. But the restaurant food can be really bad! Bean dip (but called something much more lyrical, which I forget) was tasteless/ bland. Even I can just liquidise a tin of beans, and burn a carrot, but I season them properly and do expect much more for the prices. Much is made of local suppliers, and the meat dishes always seem to get better comments from my friends. The veggie food and deserts are expensive and not tasty, original or quality. If you are happy paying highly for meaty food, in a unique setting, then feel free. But I would avoid veggie and vegan (and probably the deserts).

We popped down to Quidhampton for the village fireworks hosted by the White Horse. Absolutely AMAZING evening; Fireworks were fabulous (probably 25 minutes of impressive show), DJ Dion kept the kids entertained at a great family friendly disco event in a marquee, there were sparklers for the kids and the bar and grill were a great addition. Queues were significant at times, but not surprising given the popularity of the event. Having been out of the country for a few years, this was our kids' first proper firework night and its going to take some beating. Thank you Quidhampton and the White Horse, we'll be back!

This is fairly local to us and we decided to have an early evening birthday dinner. Even at 6 on a Monday it was pleasantly busy creating a nice atmosphere. Service was prompt and friendly and there was a good range of real ales on offer including 3 kegs of guest beers. Food choice was exceptional to the point of making it hard to decide which of several options to choose. When it arrived the food was extremely good and well presented. All in all a very good experience.

This place probably doesn’t need anymore good reviews but it certainly earned one. Ate here for a long lunch with friends who I hadn’t seen for years so there was a lot of talking and catching up. The place lends itself to that. It is comfortable, friendly, relaxed but the food and the service are absolutely excellent. The owner who was on duty yesterday ( forgive me for not catching your name) couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating. He paced his service around pauses in our conversation and made us feel very welcome. He also caught on to the fact we were ex military and upon showing proof gave us a generous discount, which was very much appreciated. We stayed through the afternoon chatting away, and he kindly left us in peace . An absolutely lovely place, thanks for looking after us.
