The White Horse in Sevenoaks

Yes I discovered that this pub is part of a chain where they all have the same menu and wines! Saying this…this is a nice cosy place near Seven Oaks with also some traditional English dishes (we enjoyed either the fish and chips and the pie!) and more modern offerings. Service is good, food is good the Chablis was cold and…it was raining outside!!!! Perfect for a grey day.

Was really looking forward to a nice meal with a friend who I hadn't seen for a while. Booked a table for 7.30 and when we arrived were the only 2 people in the pub. Was taken to the table and given menus by a pleasant young barman who appeared to be the only one working. We ordered starters and mains course which came very quickly. The starters were very nice. Main meal had clearly been microwaved as it came so quickly. While we were eating our main course the young barman came to the table and said 'I don't know if you wanted a dessert but the kitchen is closed' to which we replied 'well we can't have one then can we'. The chef then proceeded to walk out of the kitchen and leave. Where do you go to a restaurant at 7.30 on a Saturday evening and get told you can't have a dessert at 8 o'clock because the kitchen is closed and the chef walks out while you're eating. So very unprofessional. Will definitely not be returning or recommending to any friends and family. The young bar staff were very pleasant. Don't go if you want to eat anything after 8 o'clock.

Well where do I start the positives are it’s a lovely pub in Sundridge. I went with a friend and booked a table for 7.30pm. The waiter took our order and then asked if we would like our starter with our main course??? Thought it was a bit strange but put it down to the fact he was young and maybe new? Starters came which were very nice then straight away out came the main course which was okay although pretty sure re heated. Then as soon as we were finished about 7.50pm the waiter came and said. I’m sorry but there’s no deserts the chef is going home!!? Does he have an emergency or something? No he said this is what he does. But you have customers that is appalling we say. Yes we have told the manager but she can’t afford to lose him. Well I’m sorry but if this pub continues to let their chef walk out as and when he wants them they will be closed very soon!! Absolutely disgusted at this. Won’t be going back.

Second time I’ve been here and again first class food and service, lovely restaurant very modern and clean, good beers and wines , will be going back soon the best in Sevenoaks by far

Had a wonderful afternoon with friends. Food was amazing. Huge portions considering such reasonable prices. And the cauliflower cheese was brilliant!! Excellent selection of wine, we made our way through a bottle of red or two. Fantastic service.. All round lovely afternoon. Will be back.

Four of us enjoyed a lovely Sunday roast at The White Horse. Compared to some other pubs, it offered very good value for money at £16-18 per roast, especially the lamb, which my wife and I had. Portions were generous and service efficient, although it would have been nice if the extra gravy (which comes as standard) was brought out with the food. The pub was a little lacking in atmosphere and there was a slight chemical smell around the bar/entrance area, but it wouldn’t put us off returning.

We came in for lunch after a long walk through Knole park. We waited for a few minutes at the bar to order drinks which we still waited so I decided to sit down at a table because I knew we wanted to order food, my partner stayed at the bar to order our drinks, once had our drinks we asked for menus and was given 2 menus to look at, soon as we got the menus someone came over to ask us what we wanted and we said “we don’t know yet, we are still looking” she said “not a problem I’ll come back in a few mins” okay we thought thank you.. she never came back and we had to go to the bar again to order our food. We waited a while for the food to come it looked lovely, I got the sausage and mash with red cabbage, it was really nice except the mash sort of reminded me of instant mash but it was very nice and a fair price as well 😁 would definitely be coming back but hopefully the service would be a tad better

What a great pub, stopped whilst travelling through today for a late lunch, the lady couldn’t of been more helpful, we both a drink and hot sandwich, the lady made a big fuss of the dog, food was really good and sensible priced, Will definitely stop again when in the area.

Food delicious, freshly cooked and generous portions. Excellent service, very friendly and welcoming staff and clean and comfortable facilities. Would highly recommend.

Even though we are local, I visited the White Horse today with my partner for the first time. And I am so glad we did! What an experience from start to finish! Although I haven’t personally been here previously, my partner had and it seems that the new owners have done a stunning job turning it around! The outside area is perfectly situated especially on a beautifully sunny day like today. Everything was clean including the glasses. I have had awful experiences with filthy glasses elsewhere but theirs looked brand new! It’s the little things 😉 The girl behind the bar - Jasmine was effortlessly friendly, efficient and great to chat to. Shannon who served us was very welcoming and couldn’t do enough to ensure we were satisfied and had all that we needed without being over bearing. Jess, the owner even popped out a few times to take the time to chat and see how our meal was! They all went above and beyond! The food - we went for their Beef and Lamb Roast and I am only disappointed that I couldn’t try the rest of the menu in one sitting! The food was outstanding, beautifully cooked meat and perfect portion size leaving me happily full to the seams! We will definitely be returning very soon. A perfect little local for families, friends and couples! Drinks and food or drinks on their own. A perfect all rounder! Well done to all involved in making this place what it is. So very glad we stopped by! Cannot wait to visit in the winter when the indoor fires are roaring!

This lovely, warm, friendly pub exceeded all expectations today! I ate here once before about a year ago and I wasn’t impressed at all, but it’s safe to say that the new owners have 100% turned it around! From the garden being well maintained, the cleanliness of the bar and restaurant area (a much needed improvement from my last visit) to the buzzy but family oriented atmosphere, it was a great (second) first impression. The bar and serving staff Shannon and Jasmine were at the door as we arrived, with a very friendly welcome and smiles all round. Jess (the owner) also made an effort to come out and chat with us even though she was working hard in the kitchen and then again came out to see how our food was. I could not praise the staff any higher for all of their efforts, attention and professionalism! After being served our drinks, we chose to sit outside on this beautiful day. We went traditional for a Sunday and had the Beef and Lamb Roast.. the meat was beautiful and everything was cooked to perfection including the veg! Amazing portion sizes, super tasty and still enough on the plate to take home at the end! We will 100% be back again to try the rest of the menu! Well done guys! You’ve done an incredible job of turning this pub into a brilliant family friendly eatery! Well worth a visit if you’re passing even just for a drink and a chat with the staff! 🙌🏻

We were greeted and very much welcomed by Sam who could not have been more friendly or interested in us. We had fish and chips and squid and chips. Was excellent. Portion size was amazing the fish was a really large thick piece and was delicious. Highly recommend, especially if Sam there! We will be back. England 2 USA 1, we thought 3 0 to England !!

They say you only get one chance to make a good first impression. A lovely pub in a lovely setting so we were really looking forward it after a walk around Knole House and grounds. We had pre-booked but arrived a little early as we wanted a drink first. We were greeted or should I say confronted by a young lady referred to by other members of staff and disgruntled customers as 'the girl in the pink trousers'. Before my other half could explain we had a booking but were having a drink first she bluntly stated "your booking is not for another hour" and would not let either of us get a word in. I can only describe her attitude as officious. I appreciate it was busy but the other staff took it in their stride and managed to maintain their professionalism. The food was excellent; we had Sunday roast (Roast beef and a mixed roast) followed by dessert. Homemade roasties, Yorkshires and fresh seasonal vegetables. Portion sizes just right, good choice of quality wine. Our server Sarah unlike that girl on front of house was excellent. Had it not been for our initial welcome or lack of it I would have given 5/5. It hasn't put me off visiting again but we hope we don't encounter pink trouser girl again.

Picked this venue as it's dog friendly but it is now a destination pub for food. Great food and service.

I’ve not had fish and chips this good in the UK for a very long time if ever. The fish was a generous size, and the chips were perfectly cooked. Our other orders were also good but the fish I thought was exceptional. If I lived nearer I would certainly be back soon.

The toilets were disgusting, no soap and toilet paper on the floor! When we asked for salad cream we had to scrape the bottom on the jar. The beer from the pump was 'off'. The chicken pie was stodgy and not good. Its a shame as it used to be a lovely pub; hardly surprising no-one else was eating. Definitely wouldnt recommend.

Having been here before one expected an extremely high standard but this occasion exceeded expectations beyond belief. This pub is always fantastic and the staff always go above and beyond no matter what the occasion. On this particular visit Jasmin was extremely attentive and both myself and my client couldn’t help but be very impressed. She was highly attentive to our needs and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. I have a large meeting planned in the next months and if the service anywhere near as good I will be using this establishment permanently for all future UK meetings

Just the 2 of us for Sunday lunch which started well - contemporary bar area, menu good, staff friendly and attentive. Our roast beef arrived, piled up with good potatoes and roast parsnips ... but, unfortunately totally swimming in lukewarm, thick gravy! Please put this in a separate jug as the beef was decent but spoilt by the synthetic tasting gravy. Side dish with 3 heaps of colourless, unappetising 2x mashed and 1x overcooked veg! The staff were good but constant chucking of the empty bottles in the dumper bin behind the bar caused quite a noise - totally oblivious to effect on diners! It looked promising but we won't visit again.

Two couples with two dogs. We all had roast beef Sunday lunch (apart from the dogs!) which was excellent. Service is very friendly and efficient. Great range of well kept beer. Strongly recommend.

I came here with my girlfriend Jasmine and we had the most delightful evening. It was an off the cuff decision and I am so excited we did. The food was fantastic and our waitress Ella was so friendly and helpful. The food was incredibly good and unfortunately the chef was too busy to thank. Everyone made so much effort to make us feel welcome. The only thing I would say is that despite the fact the food was amazing the prices were quite steep in comparison to other local pubs. In some cases £5 more per meal

Dropped in here for a drink and a bite to eat after a cold walk at Toys Hill. Its a nice warm pub (with a real fire), has surprisingly good food, and some of the friendliest pub staff ever. Definitely recommend.

Amazing trip to the White Horse for a drink. Ellie delivered amazing customer service. Unfortunately we ended up stranded with taxi companies refusing to provide us a lift home but Ellie went above and beyond and made sure we got home safely.

Came in for a meal at 6:20pm and we were told that the kitchen was shut by a gentleman. We were lead to believe that it was open until 7pm. Bar staff were very friendly and helpful.

The pub has recently changed hands and the new owners/staff couldn't be nicer. They were so attentive and kind, the service was great. The food was also brilliant - just your standard pub grub type food eg burgers - but all done to a really high standard and really yummy. Would highly recommend :)

Ordered the burger take away on 17/11/20, a tad disappointing, cheesy chips soggy in polystyrene take away container, burger a bit tasteless, again need to look at takeaway containers for quality. Going to try fish n chips later, hope for a better result. When pub open food is great, just need to work out takeaway in my humble opinion.

Absolutely blown away by the portion sizes and quality of the food. As a family we normally stick to the chain restaurants and pubs but this visit has highlighted what we have been missing for quite some time. Love how the pub is “Covid” friendly and yet not sacrificing the atmosphere

I have been to the white horse a couple times and never had a bad meal. Today myself and my son tried the roasts. It was absolutely perfect. My son being a picky eater they accommodated all our needs. Great service with a smile. Food was exceptional. Compliments all round Highly recommend. Will visiting again soon

Found this little Gem while avoiding the M25! Warm welcome, absolutely gorgeous meal, huge portions, piping hot & great service! Highly reccomend & would definitely be going back! Loved it!

All expectations succeeded, beautifully presented drinks, food surprisingly good quality for pub food, you can easily tell it is either very well made or sourced at a premium. You do pay a little more then your average pub, yet not as much as a lot of the “fine dining” you see across Sevenoaks and well worth the visit and great atmosphere.In regards to Covid-19 their system looks the safest I have seen. All doors left open that you do not necessarily need to touch. A one way approach to us diners eating outside that whilst I was ordering, worked seamlessly. Staff visibly washing their hands after each customer..Well done guys, so pleased we have found you.

What a great night we had at the quiz last night, we didn't win but still had fun. Ana, Matt and the team have set the pub up so well to allow for social distancing, both inside and out. The food was fantastic and I would highly recommend a visit to sample the food and atmosphere....... and the quiz!

We joined our friends to their local pub quiz night. A really nice evening, very well organised and safely spread out. Food was spot on with a competitive and fun quiz

Lovely pub, friendly bar staff and a welcoming atmosphere. We ordered food and sat outside but after 40 minutes there was no sign of it. We then prompted the BBQ chef (who didn't seem to be doing anything) and suddenly there was a flurry of activity. Initially we were annoyed (as it didn't seem busy) and we put it down to a lack of communication between bar and kitchen. Anyway, without prompting, the manager came with our food, apologised, gave us one of our burgers for free and shouted us a round of drinks as a gesture of goodwill. It just goes to show. It's not about the mistakes. It's how they are handled, and this was handled beautifully. And the food was great (pictured is the unbelievably meaty vegan burger). We'll certainly be back again.

Amazing night, socially distanced perfectly making the evening comfortable in these tough circumstances. Good food along with a fun quiz, dogs welcome and had fun. Katie and Ana made the night with their enthusiastic and fun presenting of the quiz! So much better than other pubs/restaurants around the area. Such lovely staff!

After a long journey on the m25 i came across the white horse i decided to pop in for a quick drink great choice of lagers also a bbq menu was available in which i decided to have a gogi gui burger and a side of freshly made onion rings, the standard of service and the quality of the food was 5 star I was very happy to see they are following the guidelines of the new covid-19 rules. The procedure was explained to me on arrival very clearly. The garden was busy but not overcrowded, great pub great atmosphere great welcome and the food is fantastic.

Had a wonderful evening at the White Horse in Sundridge on Thursday. They had organised an outdoor quiz and curry. Ana and Katie did a great job of running the quiz in their garden. The curry was also delicious. How they’ve set themselves up to manage Covid is brilliant. Felt very safe but still friendly and welcome. Wonderful to have what felt like a normal night out.

Came in for my son’s birthday with a few of his friends. We had a lovely meal and the staff Katie and Simone were fantastic; very accommodating and couldn’t of done more. They even wrote 'happy birthday' in chocolate for me when I asked. Came into the White Horse today to have dinner with friends. We were greeted by a smiling and friendly waitress, whom later introduced herself as Katie. I cannot rave enough about this pub! It's a cosy, village pub with fantastic food, great service and an arrangement of drinks. Katie was very helpful taking us through the menu when my husband wanted to make some changes to his meal. They were very accommodating. I hope anyone who goes here enjoys it as much as we did! Thank You Katie and the other staff!

I came here with my husband yesterday for a evening meal at a homely country pub. We were served by Katie and she could not have been more attentive and friendly, offering us advice on our meal and wine choices. We decided on steak and ale pies and a bottle of Sauvignon to share and it was delicious!I highly recommend this pub to everyone, everything was what you want a country pub to be and more-including the friendliness of the staff! It’s a must if you are around the area!

We came across the White Horse by chance and thought we would go and see what Sunday lunch was about. when we arrived, we were greeted by some lovely ladies who showed us straight to our table, this was met with our waitress (Simone)talking us through the wine menu. the red wine was great as promised, the Sunday roast was excellent.I have long been a true believer that good restaurants are not just about the food but the recipe for a good food establishment is about good service and good food......well this has got both in abundance!If your looking for good food, good atmosphere and great service then look no further than the White Horse.The staff do this place credit, not one person was content with just serving, they all had personalities and were engaging with all their customers. If your lucky, you might end up with the waitress my wife and I had, Simone really made our afternoon enjoyable. Cat wait to come back again and enjoy the rest of the menu.

Came here for the first time after so many years, certainly not disappointed. The food looked freshly cooked and tasted delicious, full of flavour, my friends fish and chips was a very good portion. When we walked in it looked very busy but the staff was very accommodating and friendly. The 2 lovely ladies that served us Simone and Hannah really accommodated us. Will definitely recommend this restaurant/pub.

Found this lovely pub on my drive home from work one day and kept meaning to pop in. I’m glad I finally did!!!! I had a hot bird burger and added sweet potato fries, was simply amazing! Did not take long to be served to me either. Staff very chatty and happy! Checked up on me to see if I had everything I needed and if there was anymore that they could do. Will definitely be returning to the white horse, hoping to get down for one of the band evenings soon.

My wife and I went to the White Horse on the off chance of getting a table for a meal on a Friday evening. We were welcomed by friendly front of house staff, and told that a table would be available in about 10 minutes. By the time we had ordered our drinks, the table was ready. The food was delicious, it was freshly cooked, beautifully presented and served in good time without us feeling either rushed nor forgotten. The waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable about the food, she ensured that we had all we needed, without constantly bothering us.We had a really good night, and stayed after the meal for a drink at the bar.We will certainly returning in the future.

Went to this pub for a family meal there was 7 of us it was the first time my family has been in this pub!! All I can say is the service was great friendly staff very welcoming and always will do help with anything!! The food was some of the best pub food I had any where in this area!!! Would highly recommend to anyone. Thank you to all the staff at the white horse for a pleasant experience we will be returning!!

My husband and I use this restaurant regularly and my husband also uses the bar area regularly before coming home for either a coffee or a beer. We both enjoy the food as it's freshly made and caters for myself as someone who prefers a virtually vegan diet. Matt, his lovely wife and their staff are generally extremely helpful and on the main will do everything they can to assist; however, I do object to a 'stroppy' member of staff, pulling faces and blatantly marching past my table, believing that as we are regulars we'll put up with such poor behaviour. This Valentine meal for 2, without wine was £100, my husband had 2 drinks and so did I. Watch your language and body language, staff need to remember good customer service, I don't expect this behaviour from my youngest granddaughter and she's almost 8! We didn't allow her attitude to spoil our evening and therefore, I've rated this on my usual experiences, which are generally positive.

Busy day valentine day was offered the special menu and not the standard however others were eating from the normal menu ,service was very slow took 1 hour to get main course , the staff were flat out and doing there best but had underestimated lunch time demand and for whatever reason a couple of local pubs were closed . Business has to know what’s going on in the market place around them. Garlic prawns need more spice and did not seem that fresh , the lamb main and brownie sweet were top class. £90 with only 2 drinks think you expect more .

My first visit to this restaurant! Very good choice of food & lovely warm welcome. Dinner was fresh and tasty; service was fast and atmosphere was nice and relaxing. I left feeling happy and wanting to return to try more items on the menu!

Visited the White Horse yesterday afternoon for a late lunch. It was one of the best lunches I've had in a long time. I had the veggie Sunday roast with perfectly cooked vegetables, the sticky toffee pudding for dessert and a lovely coffee to finish. Staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough and the pub has a lovely cosy feel about it. Will definitely be back.

We visited The White Horse for a family member’s birthday last week. We were greeted by the bar staff and shown to our reserved table. Staff were very friendly and the service was good throughout. We didn’t feel rushed at all. The venison pie was fantastic, and I loved the thick chips with truffle oil, very tasty. Drinks were reasonably price and served quickly.

As per usual we were not disappointed we had a couple of friends visiting and decided to bring them down and they really enjoyed it. Staff very friendly and polite, food was superb the ribeye was cooked perfectly and was really happy to see there a good selection of vegan/vegetarian options i opted for the B12 burger which was delicious. My partner had the venison hotpot which looked and smelled Devine.

I came to this pub with my friends as we have been a few times and never disappointed!! The food is just delicious and all locally sourced. The staff are happy and polite and nothing ever seems to much for them. I really like king prawn starter and the ribeye steak and just because I can't resist the churros are the best I've ever had. I will be back!!!

I have been a regular in this pub for a long time and would just like to say the pub is beautiful you always get and warm welcome. The staff are lovely and very accommodating and would like to give a shout out to Katie she is a real asset to the team always has a smile on her face and is very bubbly. The food is superb and would recommend to anyone.

A party of 8 of us went today for lunch to celebrate a Birthday. We ate in the bar area as we had a dog with us but we could still order anything on the restaurant menu. There was a bit of a wait between ordering and the food being served but it became evident that this was because all the meals had been freshly cooked and all were delicious. Simone our waitress was a star and got all our orders spot on even though we did our best to confuse her! Would happily recommend this place, it was spotless, food lovely with lots of choice and I think reasonably priced.

10 of us went here for a birthday meal..

We booked for New Years Eve and ate off the festive menu. My parents came along and when we chose our menu choices for the pre-booking form we requested a few changes ie well-done meat, custard instead of cream etc. The food was amazing and all our requests were followed. The service was good and atmosphere great in the bar if a little quiet in the restaurant. We had a lovely time and wouldn’t hesitate to go back. Many thanks.

Finally there is a local pub that offers descent choices for vegetarians (adults as well as kids). The staff are friendly and do their best to accomodate any specific requirements we may have.

I had five visitors from America with who were travelling around The Weald with me.

My beef & mash dish was very tasty, but I was surprised that there were no vegetable accompaniments.

It was a convenient location, providing adequate parking, to meet up for a drink and lunch. A full menu of sandwiches, light snacks and main courses took some time to peruse before choices could be made. My chicken ragout was excellent and nicely augmented with a Chilean sauvignon blanc.

Came here again for a special family meal on Sunday, the staff despite how busy they were they still made it possible to accommodate us with a very big smile. I can honestly say the best Sunday roast. My mum had the nut roast, her words divine; all our meals were delicious and the gravy is the best. Highly recommend

I recently visited with a friend with whom I had visited previously back in December 2018. That was an occasion which we did not like!

Simply excellent, relaxing and loved it. Service personal but not over the top! Will be back for dinner next time

Outstanding Sunday roast, excellent service and great atmosphere. This is such a lovely pub and we are glad we found it.

Needed a restaurant for six adults with different tastes and two small children and found the Whitehorse. What a godsend! Catered well for the children and the service was excellent The adults all had food that was deliciously tasty and attractively presented and was more than enough. We will definitely be back.

We stopped here on a Sunday afternoon having not booked on the off chance they could fit us in. The staff couldn't have been any more friendly and managed to squeeze us in the bar area but that was absolutely fine. Its decor is lovely, especially the little snug area. I had the fish and chips and it was amazing. The chips were without doubt the best I've had anywhere, the cod was fresh and flakey in a beautiful beer batter. Combined with the homemade tartare sauce this was a superb meal. The staff were extremely attentive especially bearing in mind it was Sunday afternoon. They were polite and very welcoming. Would 100% recommend this place

A crowd of us went to the White Horse following a Charity event and had just asked for a few snacks to be laid on but to our delight a full scale buffet was presented! The food was absolutely delicious and there was such a great variety. The staff were so friendly and helpful, and the general atmosphere was just great. The whole experience was amazing and I would certainly recommend to others and I look forward to returning there soon. I would give the food 5* for sure!

Don’t normally like to eat out as being gluten free there is never anything good, but I went to the white horse was given the menu I told them I was gluten free so they told me they can make whatever I wanted gluten free. Will definitely be going back thank you

Have to the white horse a number of times for family and friends get togethers the food is always amazing and the staff always friendly,will differently going back.

Visited last night based on recommendations from other friends all I can say is AMAZING. Food was unreal, hot and delicious just what was needed on these chilly nights drawing in!! Service was great. Couldn’t fault our experience at all. Will definitely be returning ASAP and highly recommend :)

We had booked a table for my family on a Tuesday night having read good reviews online. However we were very disappointed and won’t be returning.

Me, my mum, brother and 2 little boys met up from some lunch today. The food was amazing you could honestly tell that it was freshly made. There was such a nice atmosphere. They were really accommodating for my two little ones. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Will definitely be returning again and recommending!!

Travelled down from London for Sunday lunch to meet friends and family. The food was fantastic and the service was brilliant. Great selection on the menu. I would 100% recommend.

I called in on the White Horse to see if they could host a party of 50 people. From start to finish the staff were exceptional - the buffet food was fantastic and even when the bar was busy no one waited long for drinks. It’s the perfect area for hosting as there is a lovely seating “snug” area around the back and plenty of room at the bar. You took all our stress away from the day and we can’t wait to return. The new owners/managers have turned this pub into an amazing discovery!!! We can’t thank you enough, and even my picky husband could t find a fault. We will be back soon 10/10!!!

We were a fairly large party and ordered a variety of meals from the menu. All the food was excellent and generous size portions. The outdoor seating area is well maintained and the food arrived piping hot. Have been back since and the staff including the management team are always lovely.

My family were passing through Sundridge on the way to Knole Park and we decided to stop of for something to eat. So pleased we did!

I've been to this pub for Sunday lunch a couple of times now and I'm never disappointed. The staff are delightful and the food is delicious. My son enjoys that his meal is a proper childs portion of proper food. No nuggets and chips in sight. Our favourite waitress (Katie) is very helpful and friendly and always on hand with fab recommendations. A good drinks selection with decent wines to go with decent grub. Highly recommend!!

Stopped here today having passed it on numerous occasions and really glad we did. We had a great lunch and a lovely friendly welcome from the staff. The pub has a really good atmosphere and well laid out. Lots of delicious nuts available to have with your drinks, we had the 'hot nuts' which were really good. Had a great Pink G and T with delicious fresh mint, raspberries and strawberries.

We'd heard that this pub had been refurbished and the food was decent so decided to try it out for a quick lunch and we were glad to have done so as we all had a thoroughly enjoyable meal. The menu is limited but in addition to "proper" meals they do what looked an interesting selection of sandwiches and burgers. There is nothing innovative or exciting it is all pretty standard these days but unlike many other places what we had was very good. Delicious black pudding scotch eggs, nice panko covered squid rings. Our mains were equally good and we couldn't find fault. My mussels with a spicy chorizo sauce were plump and gorgeous. My companions rated their fish and chips and bream very highly. We will definitely go again.

We regularly meet up in this area with friends who travel from Kent. This was our first visit to The White Horse and all four of us thoroughly enjoyed the food.Me and my husband ordered the fish and chips and the fish was the best I have ever eaten in a pub, served with well minted crushed peas and crispy chunky chips. Our friends had the gammon with duck eggs. All four of us agreed the food was well cooked and of good quality. Our young (student) waitress was delightful and she and the rest of the staff coped well with an unexpected power cut. It was a shame that there were so few other customers eating. We thought it was a bit on the expensive side for pub food, but this was not enough of a problems to stop us returning.

After a long Journey we drove past this pub, being close to home we thought of making a stop and having something to eat.

Popped in to this pub after an evening walk just before 9pm on a Friday night. Asked waitress fir a table. Was told we had to order in 1 minute if we wanted to eat as they won’t cook past 9 pm. She gave us the menu which was printed so small we couldn’t read it. Being in our 50’s we both need glasses fir such small print but hadn’t brought them. We asked if they had a larger print and was told no. We told the waitress we couldn’t read it and she gave us no help. We ordered fish and chips for 1 and a plain burger and chips as well thinking it would be straightforward. It was not. The burger bun was soar dough which I didn’t like and I wouldn’t have chosen this had I been aware. All in all not a good meal which would not have happened had she taken a few minutes to offer to help us with the menu. Staff seemed unconcerned with us as customers even though the pub was only half full. We will not be going back and do not recommend.
