Bullfinch in Sevenoaks

Really enjoyable lunch for 4 adults and 2 kids. Our first visit to the Bullfinch and we were impressed with the menu options (including for the two vegetarians) and the friendly efficient service. The pub is nicely decked out - we liked the open fire in the middle of the dining area. Would definitely return next time we're in the neighbourhood.

Wonderful Christmas meal, lovely food friendly staff, was a slight delay on the food but chalk that up to being the last sitting on Xmas day. Worth the wait.

Service couldn't have been better, drinks were sensibly priced but the food had issues, starters were great, mains were average, the traditional Christmas dinner was very poor... wet processed meat, stuffing cut off a block and generally poorly dressed, roast potatos grim. Beef Wellington soggy. In all not bad (mainly due to the cheerful staff) but for the money they could have done better.

Definitely not value for money, very expensive for small portions, Service was very slow. Requested if our mains could come with the one starter we had ordered… 50 mins later the mains arrived. In comparison as soon as we said we were finished the young lady swooped in and cleared the table within seconds ! It felt like we should shove off as fast as possible. I worked at this pub in the 1990s and service was so much better then. Not going to bother again. It was Monday afternoon so not actually that busy. Felt because we had made a request we where left to wait.

Gone downhill. The Turkey and my Guinness were fine, the rest, very poor. Tiny frozen carrot and 2 tiny hard sprouts, hard tiny roast potatoes, no gravy. Asked for more gravy and that wasn't enough! With my Xmas pudding, No custard - they said they don't do custard!! So I had cheesecake - awful all cream and no flavour at all.

Went as a group of 5, myself and my sister asked for a roast with no meat as we don’t have eat meat and a side of cauliflower/broccoli cheese. We was told to share as it’s big. The roast came and less than quarter of the plate had food on it. 1x mini carrot, 2x small potatoes (not crispy) 1x cabbage leaf 1x tender-stem broccoli and a small Yorkshire pudding. Seeing as it’s a no meat roast you’d think they would try bulk it out with veg? My dad had parsnips with his beef? We didn’t, as vegetarians? Paid the same amount for a veggie roast as a normal roast you’d think they wouldn’t be so stingy! The cauliflower broccoli cheese came 5 minutes after we started and there was 2x small cauliflower florets and 2x small tender stem broccolis? Not really sure how that’s big enough to share. £18 not worth it for the size of the portions.

1 of 120 establishments in the portfolio. And it shows: the place is soulless, the staff has no personality and the service generally lacks, and the food is shocking. Upon ordering, I mentioned an intolerance to processed food, but as this was a Sunday roast, I felt that everything should be home-made anyway. Still, the waitress looked confused so I made it easy and specifically requested that anything coming out of a packet didn't make it on my plate. I ended up with a piece of pork hard as leather, burnt potatoes and a few overcooked kale and carrots. I suspect Chef 'Mic' is the hardest working chef in this kitchen. Neither of us at the table ate our food and management had the decency to comp' our 'meal'. Wil not be returning.

Had Christmas lunch in there. The food was absolutely dreadful turkey lunch vegetables were burnt to a sinders pig in blanket cremated and stuffing ball more like a golf ball. Very dissatisfied.

Came here for a Christmas party & had a wonderful evening. All of the staff were very attentive & friendly. Special mention to Ailish who made plenty of great baby guiness shots for us!

Had a fantastic Sunday lunch of Roast beef with all the trimming. My wife had the Roast Chicken with all the trimming, unfortunately, it was dry which was rather disappointing. Our two guests who recommended the restaurant were happy with their meal so 3 out of 4 was not bad but certainly not great.

If you're a vegan this is not the restaurant for you. Food is very salty and vegetables portions laughable. Eat before you go!

Food was "ok", the beers good. The waitress was great and super cute. The floor is low, and hit my head on the wooden joist! lol

A group of 6 friends met at the Bullfinch for lunch. Menu had a good choice and the pub looking very festive. We were so well looked after by our waiter Nic, so friendly and helpful.

Great evening with friends doing quiz. My Chicken Milanese was delicious as was the mini chocolate brownie and coffee. We enjoyed the complimentary birthday bottle of fizz. The Bootwarmer cask ale went down well with the men on our table. Staff were attentive. Always a friendly and welcoming atmosphere and in winter, a roaring fire

Just a quick update. Still 5 star. Bob and Mandy are welcoming hosts. All their staff are friendly and helpful. Wednesday still day of choice as Daves quiz is the best locally in my opinion. New menu offers some good dishes, shepherds pie and steak with blue cheese pie were particular favourites. A few offers on their app too. 8 Fantastic quiz on a Wednesday. Challenging but really good fun. Book a table as it's always busy. Worth eating beforehand as the food is usually pretty good. Just been refurbished so looking quite smart (24/1/18). Photo of beer garden in July. Solar lighting wrapped around the trees. Lovely to chill outside now that it is a bit cooler.

Visited for a Sunday roast. The food and staff were outstanding. Special thanks to Nick & Co in the kitchen! The beef was rare and tender and full of flavour. A huge thank you to everyone!

Cute place from outside. If management would push stricter rules, I’m sure it would pick up nicely. Table wet, teapot stained, candle holder had dry food residues. Food? Meat chewy, potatoes reheated, bland tastes. That was the roast. And regarding the pie - salty, full of probably cheap glutamate seasoning leaving awful aftertaste. My kidneys won’t be happy. Almost like top supermarket brand one would do better, which is sad. Good points for atmosphere and dog friendly service, but will give this place a miss for future. Sorry guys

Been coming here to meet a friend fairly regularly for a few years now . Nice , spacious pub which formally offered  good lunch menu  with great parking .  Met my friend this week on Thursday lunchtime.  Walked in at opening time and the fire was already roaring and welcoming. Sadly the inviting welcome ended there. Even though the pub was empty and staff around we had to almost stand in front of a team member to get served.  The food menu was quite extensive but we only wanted a light lunch ideally a sandwich as we'd been ordering previously . The sandwich menu seemed to been replaced with only a Ciabatta Slice menu of 4 or 5 options each costing £10 which seemed expensive but potentially worth a taste. Trust me they are not . I had the Goats cheese with beetroot . The foccacia I would suggest not fresh but frozen , the goats cheese scraped like butter with a sprinkling of beetroot . No side salad , crisps or chips incredibly underwhelming fir £10. Lucky for me an attentive member of staff came round to check our food was satisfactory . Not one to complain normally I was reactive to highlight my disappointment.  He apologised and noted but also  asked how he could rectify and ordered me some extra courtesy chips for which I appreciated and thanked  him for . In spite of this I feel the Menu , value and  quality of food was disappointing.   We will be going to another pub in future.   Sent from my Galaxy

The pub is beautiful. The staff are very attentive and friendly. Unfortunately the Sunday roast was a disappointment after being recommended. Roast potatoes were so hard like golf balls the Yorkshires were the same ... Chicken portion is tiny considering how much it costs. Pudding for one of us had to be sent back. Won't be returning sorry.

Having had a couple of drinks here before I decided to book a table for food for our anniversary. Although the service was ok, the food was grim. The lasagne was rubbery, dry and a little worse than a supermarket microwave dinner. My wife’s calamari was small and insignificant. Her burger was average. All over priced. We asked for a table by the open fire but it died out within 10 minutes. I had to asked for more logs to be put on. The staff put on 2 logs and it died within 5 minutes. They did not return or tend to it. I was hoping for something a bit better for our anniversary. We won’t be going back.

I went to the bullfinch pub today with my mum today There today I had a hot chocolate and I really enjoyed it was one of the best hot chocolates I have ever had Also I had a biscuit to go with it And the biscuit was very tasty and yummy You had very lovely music playing in the background which is very lovely to see The chairs there were very comfy and very soft The staff that work there are very kind and very lovely and very wonderful The service there is very good and amazing and wondeful This place gets it's first 5 out of 5 star rating by me 5 stars all around Enjoy reading your first google review by me Have a lovely rest of your day

Very nice place. Both the food and the service were very good. And for those having to avoid gluten, they have a very complete and tasty gluten-free menu!

Nic, our waiter, made sure that me & my elderly mother were comfortable, and then served us an Excellent Sunday Roast Lunch. All the elements were cooked perfectly, the meat (beef & lamb) was beautifully cooked! The potatoes & veggies were very good too, and Nic also gave us an extra (free) jug of gravy. The whole experience was GREAT; We will definitely come back! Thank you to the team in the kitchen, and the excellent waiter, Nic.

We were a party of 16, including some children, and descended on these poor people with only an hour's notice. To say that they stepped up to the challenge is an understatement! Amy in particular was amazing, she took our orders with good humour and was cheerful throughout, and lovely with the children! The kitchen also did brilliantly, getting all our meals out within a short time of each other, and those who had the steak said they were beautifully cooked to their preferences. Thank you so much for providing a really positive end to what had been actually a really hard day (my mum's funeral); I know my Dad, in particular, was really grateful!

Really bad service. Party of 8 and 2 mains come out and half hour later the other 6 mains come out. Manager blamed it on because we had a kids meal with the food. Ordered desserts and they also took over half hour to come. Would not recommend.

Even though it was a very quiet Monday, the decoration and ambiance was excellent and food was really tasty. Beautifully cooked and well presented. Not at all expensive and Wesley our table staff was extremely efficient and friendly. Our first visit.... first of many I think.

We arrived as a party of 7 early on a Saturday evening when the pub wasn't busy, and although many of the tables were pre-booked, Martha was fantastic at helping us organise tables to put together, and was also very friendly and efficient. We ordered lasagne, burgers and some vegan dishes, and the food came swiftly and was tasty, as were the beers on tap. Just what we needed as a hungry family of all ages!

Had a couple of lovely meals at The Bullfinch whilst on holiday in the local area. Good service in a nice pub. Thanks to our server, Nic for whom nothing was too much trouble during our visits.

Attended with another couple and child. Food took forever to arrive and when it did arrive, it was barely lukewarm! No cutlery given when the food arrived which was odd, apparently it's meant to be collected by the customer as they head into the garden area behind the pub if eating outside. This wasn't mentioned by staff unfortunately. Finally, the chocolate cheesecake sphere dessert was abysmal. It's a deconstructioned cheesecake but genuinely the worst I've had in my life, just week in all flavours. Beef roast looked aesthetically pleasing but certainly was unable to live up to the hype.

We recently held my husband’s 40th birthday party at the Bullfinch and we couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. From the start, Mandy, Bob and the team were so helpful with helping us get set up and create a space where everyone could have a great time. They allowed us to have a brilliant area which gave us plenty of room both inside and outside and allowed us to decorate the areas and play our own music throughout the afternoon into the evening. We pre ordered drinks and they were all ready for our guests arrival and presented perfectly. During the event, the team at the bullfinch were super accommodating and helpful. Bullfinch staff work very hard and are always happy. Only there on Wednesdays for the quiz when there is often pinch points which the staff cover well. Ale is poor quality and celerage management needs frequent attention.

We go to many pubs but none can top The Bullfinch and that is down to the amazing service we receive on every visit. Julian, Aimee and Ailish always go above and beyond to make us feel welcome and look after our every need. We will definitely be back, again and again!

The Bullfinch is a fantastic pub, offering a wide selection of beers and ales. The food is of high quality and absolutely delicious. The pub is spacious, with plenty of tables and a large garden area outside. The staff are attentive and friendly, enhancing the overall experience. They host various themed nights and a popular quiz night, so it's best to book in advance as these events fill up quickly. Also had a birthday recently and Bob and Mandy made it super enjoyable . This pub is a true gem in Sevenoaks—visit them, and you won’t be disappointed.

So, £75 for 2 burgers, 1 ham egg and chips and 1 beer, 1 gin and tonic and 1 Long Island iced tea. Expected more on the plate than we got. £18 for the burger in the photo! Won’t be coming back here again.

Had a meal for 3 tonight - Fantastic food and great service - The Pulled Pork Croquettes were divine and will certainly order next time - Fish and Chips for the 3 of us was divine too

Here you can eat very well, relax and unwind; the garden and the terrace are particularly inviting. In addition, the staff is extremely friendly. The Bullfinch were very accommodating to a large group of us with babies and pushchairs. We sat outside under the shade and had plenty of room. And the food was really good. Recommend!

I went for meal tonight 10/7 chose chicken burger with fries.. the chicken was just ok but the burger bun was burnt and horrible and left an awful taste in my mouth.. it should never have been served like that! The waitress took the meal off the bill as it was quite awful!

Lovely place! The staff were lovely, Ailish especially made sure my brothers birthday was celebrated in a lovely manner and organised the cake and candles very well. Much appreciated.

Had a blast at The Bullfinch last night. It was their ABBA tribute night which was fab. Food was lovely and there was a great atmosphere. All the staff were friendly and attentive and our server Sam was superb! Thank you for a super night. Will definitely book again.

An impromptu Sunday lunchtime first visit, where we were luckily found a lovely table for 2. I had chicken milanese, which was gorgeous, crispy chicken, garlicky tomatoes, lots of great flavours. Could have eaten it twice! My friend had fish and chips, again, beautifully cooked, fresh fish, crispy, not too much batter. A shout out to the staff Alfie and Martha, service was excellent, friendly and attentive. Will definitely be returning. Thanks for a great experience.

Don't ever go here when they try & host an event in garden. We had reserved a table ages ago. On arrival, were told 30mins wait for food... 1 hour later and nothing. We decided to leave, asked for bill & the waitress with attitude said 'I haven't charged you for the food'. Hilarious when we hadn't received any! 🤣 Left hangry and £35 less in pocket as I'd ordered a bottle of Prosecco. Requested water didn't arrive either. This was the 2nd time we tried an event, 2nd chance just as bad as the 1st one. We're regulars, so this is such a shame - normally it's fantastic - great service, great location & beer garden. Events a BIG NO! Avoid!

Booked a table for 3pm to enjoy soul Sunday which is on 3-5. On arrival were told 2 tables were ours and we had to just pull them together ourselves. 20 min wait to order a drink and then 20mins wait to receive them…went to order food at 4.15 to be told kitchen closed at 4 and should have order on arrival! Don’t waste your Sunday afternoon at future summer events, they aren’t staffed or stocked to accommodate!

Awful service, and felt treated like we were not valued nor important. We ordered food from the App as recommended my them, to then establish their App was wrong. The manager hid behind the bar and did not come to apologise, and, via the waitress, accused us more than once of ordering the wrong items. When we demonstrated this to the waitress she said they would not be able to refund due to the fact we ordered via their App. I do not remember receiving such bad treatment at any pub or restaurant before. (And In addition their prices are absurd - £7.75 for about 5-6 halloumi fries.) I have made a formal complaint, though given how we were treated I do not expect to hear anything from them. I recommend avoid this venue altogether.

Food here is overpriced and tiny portions for the price. My halloumi and courgette salad was a laughably small size for the price of £13. Not enough people employed at the bar so queue nearly out the door. Bar staff miserable. Does get busy when the sun shines because of the large garden, thats it’s only saving grace.

The Bullfinch has always had such a strange reputation locally. The landlord / bar staff are historically so grumpy and unwelcoming...in summer time the garden is usually busy with families and kids and I remember having a discussion with the manager where he said "I'll be glad when all these kids go back to school"...it's like they don't realise they work in the hospitality industry! On Friday we went as a big group, spontaneously - we weren't planning to visit, but another pub nearby wasn't serving food and so we walked down the road. The place was really busy (which is a good sign) but the kitchen and waiting staff couldn't cope. Orders were forgotten (our kids starters didn't come out until after their mains) and had to be chased repeatedly. I went with the fish and chips thinking they couldn't get it wrong...but it turns out I was wrong. It was quite genuinely the worst fish and chips I have ever been served in my life: the cod was squashed flat like a piece of paper, wafer thin, burnt to a crisp and snapped in my hands if I bent it. Literally no edible fish in there. Others agreed that their meals were horrible: chips were all really overcooked, dried and shrivelled...absolutely vile. To be fair, some of the food seemed ok (buttermilk chicken burger), but most was really poor. The Bullfinch is such a funny pub...it's really one of those 'last resort' type places, when you've run out of other options. It's fine for a beer - and the pub garden is a great place in summer to sit for a drink - but I really wouldn't eat there; it's very much low-quality chain food that's hit and miss. I think the problem they have is that the beer garden is so huge, in unexpectedly warm weather they get a lot more walk-in trade than other smaller pubs and so are easily overwhelmed. That said, they really need to work on their hospitality skills because they have a reputation in the area for being really grumpy - everyone mentions it when I say we're going to the bullfinch!

Well, you can't win them all can you? Ten of my family members booked in to meet up yesterday and we had to pre-order our lunches, which was fine. They were ready for us: or were they? Most had the chicken or roast beef for lunch, which overall weren't too bad. The meat was well cooked but the veg were overdone, and several thought the potatoes tasted like they had been warmed up a few times, but they weren't unhappy. Two of us had the Fish & Chip dishes, which were extremely disappointing. The fish was very overcooked and because of that, very dry. The cheapest part on the plate... that being the chips, could have been counted on my two hands, if that. The burger was small and the few amount of chips on the plate only added to the sparse look of the dish delivered. On the dessert level, the only complaint was over the chocolate sphere, cheesecake dessert. "Can't find anything resembling a cheesecake here?" Was the remark of family guest. The staff were all miserable except for one chap named Alfie, who was friendly, keen to please, and a delight. Being in the trade myself, I would guess that they have too many covers to handle, and in so saying, they should maybe just stick to doing roasts only on a Sunday. It might decrease their trade slightly, but at least they would hopefully get it right.

Wish I would have read the previous review about the crab salad, I would not have ordered it, still the game was interesting (hunt the crab) not impressed and will not be returning anytime soon. As for the sirloin of gammon is concerned I think the person who writes the menu needs a lesson in history, although the gammon is from the same part of the pig as it is for beef but it’s only beef that can be called sirloin as it’s the only meat to be knighted

Just went in for a stop off and a quick pint ,a very nice place

This place has been going for a long time but it's the first time I'd been in here since it was a full service restaurant rather than a carvery. This was for a family meal so adults and kids / roast dinners. The place was busy so there was a bit of a wait on food but that was to be expected. The food was decent. Theyre cheeky in that if you want a full selection of veggies you have to order them as sides so it puts the cost up quite a bit. You do get the basic roast potatoes, carrots & red cabbage though. I also had to order gravy as what had been served was minimalist. Sauces & condiments were ordered and the servers seemed to have too many tables to look after at the same time because we had to ask 2 or 3 times and even then we didnt get everything we ordered :( the dessert was decent. I ordered a miniature apple & rhubarb crumble w custard & ice cream and it was just the right portion size. Someone else in my party ordered the biscoff cheesecake and another ordered the chocolate brownie. There were no complaints! Overall the meal was decent and we had a nice time but it was the service that let it down a bit. I would come back here, but perhaps not on a Sunday lunchtime. Its suitable for all ages. Its also useful they have a free car park adjacent to the venue.
