100% wouldn’t recommend at all so over priced massively got quoted £12.50 per person for 1 platter of sandwiches for all 15 people drinks not included in the price am hugely disappointed at the service and has really messed up plans 🙅🏻‍♀️🙅🏻‍♀️

This pub has a chequered history. Recently much has changed. A new manager, Garry is gradually restoring the old place to near it’s former glory. Aided and abetted by Terri and Debs in the bar area and John in the kitchen, it is becoming a most pleasant hostelry to visit. Long may they all remain in situ and that the ‘progress’ remains unhindered.

We popped in to the pub on Saturday en route to Evoke Festival. If you like your beer then an excellent choice of beers from Brentwood brewery. Food was very good and large portions. Just felt a bit sorry for the lady behind the bar as she seemed to be doing everything!

Visit on a regular basis and have always had a good time staff always very friendly and as a tap room for Brentwood Brewery has always had a good selection of real ales plus guest beers. Just recently a new manager and chef have raised the game a good selection a la carte and specials inexpensive and very good value for money

What a great venue for a party or celebration of any type. Jason and the team were absolutely brilliant and nothing was too much trouble. Great space, great service and great price. Thank you White Horse for making a memorable night extra special.

First time in this pub - as soon as we walked in - I was disappointed. Drab, dull, bit of an "old mans' pub. Couldn't get comfortable. Bar staff were actually very friendly and helpful. Food cheap, but not that great. Wouldn't rush back

We stopped here for a quick drink our way home today . This used to be one of our favourites some time ago.we stuck with it through various landlord changes. But now it looks shabby and down at heel . The car park is the best thing about it ! . We won't be hurrying back .

Had I read the previous reviews I would not have gone. Food was average but served on cold plates which I do not like. Never once asked if our meal was OK and was not told that they had a special board which was the other side of the bar. Establishment needs a good clean and will not be returning.

Pub a little scruffy.Seems basically a drinking pub.One Lady doing everything. Waited a long time for a very sizeindiferent chilli con carne. The only reedeeming feature was the garlic bread served with it.Asked for a small dish of mussels for my Wife, and was told that it was all standard.(obviously frozen) A small portion. Did not bother with desert.

We had a ploughmans lunch at £7.95 which consisted of 2 cheap pieces of ham two pots of pickle a small bit of salad and 1 round of sliced bread. My soup was Heinz tomato with 3 slices of sliced bread no butter. When asked for butter this was served in a dish the consistency of scrambled egg and such a bright yellow you needed sunglasses. This cost us £3.95. We reckon the total price should have been £2.00. Couldn't complain to the staff as the were to busy smoking in the car park. Ovoid like the plague.

Having moved to the area recently my husband and I went for a mammoth walk today.....passing several pubs on our travels instead making our way to the white horse as we've passed it in our car and wanted to try it...wanting a very much needed drink and maybe food....the one female bar staff who made eye contact and saw my husband and I waiting with money on show to pay ....carried on serving the bunch of guys on the opposite side ....after about 6 or 7 mins a guy walked in the pub and stood for 3 or 4 mins I watched as she then decided to serve him too before us...suffice to say we left for the black horse ongar road where the staff were attentive and where we were served a lovely roast and drinks.

We went for a quick business lunch and having tried many of the pubs in and around Brentwood, we thought we'd give this place a try. Never again. The staff member who served us was rude and unpleasant and made us feel like we were an intrusion to her day. A really unpleasant lunch. Apparently they can't provide VAT receipts here either - be aware.

We pass this pub on our way home from Brentwood station. The atmosphere is what you would expect of a local pub. The bar is always busy so to order drinks, you have to fight your way. It can be quite 'clicky' as well - and service is not the most friendliest but at the same time, rather efficient once you get to the bar. NOW, if you are an ale drinker, it would be a delight for you. However, if the lady wife is NOT, don't expect to ask for anything out of the ordinary - there are a dozen bottles of spirits for mixers. I stop off for a mixer drink, Campari ran out in October, and having asked for the same drink every week, it is still on the "blackboard" awaiting to be ordered! I have only ever eaten here once as they don't serve food on Sunday's so went to The Kings Head in Ongar instead!! So in essence to sum up, ask for ales, ensure you are local, and no food ordering in the evening or Sundays. Having said all that, it is a busy little local joint and has a seafood stall at the weekends and evenings on Friday/Saturday and the lady delivers it to the pub if you wanted anything cooked.

This pub is about a mile from Bentley Crematorium. As we needed somewhere suitable after a family funeral, our son suggested 'The White Horse' from experience. We checked it out a couple of times first, to make sure. The first time we were unlucky, as the chef was having a day off, probably for Christmas shopping. The second time we found that it was ideal for our purposes. Kirstie, the chef, went over what was available and how she would lay it out for us. As it was a funeral and we could not be positive on numbers, she said that she would keep an eye on things and bring out more food if necessary. We also asked for vegetarian food to be kept separate from anything made with or from something with a face. She was as good as her word. I would recommend this pub to anyone in similar circumstances. Please remember that this is a pub with a good range of real ales, beers and cider, that serves food. It is not a gastro-pub or restaurant with a bar. I do not know the hours of service but we liked it so much, that my wife and I have started going there for lunch occasionally, during week days. They stop taking orders at 3:00pm. It is a nice traditional pub and reminds me of my grand-parents pubs but with food.

Friends of mine visited the pub on seeing mine and others reviews and he and his wife were not happy with what greeted them on the Sunday evening. On entering they found the back bar was like a minidisco. There were about 10 customers in the bar . They decided to sit in the main bar after ordering drinks. They liked the pub but the noise of the music carried into the other bar. They found it hard to hear each other despite sitting a fair distance from the other bar. They got the impression that the customers in the back bar were using a phone connected to the pub speakers to hold the disco. My friends have no problem with music but the noise level was not acceptable and also the "colourful " language was not good to hear. They stayed and had another round before leaving. Some customers near them smiled and said its Sunday night and this always happens.

Arranged to meet friends here, to watch the rugby. What a place, this is what all pubs used to be like, felt very friendly and welcoming. A very good selection of real ales available and after sampling several, they were all very nice. Plenty of space inside, and the kids were more than welcome. The pub has a large drop down screen for the big games, and two tv's which can show different games.Only problem we came across was that there was no food served in the evening as food is only served on a Saturday between 12 - 3pm (the menu looked very good). But on speaking to the manager, he didn't have a problem in us ordering some food in for the kids, so pizza's were delivered. Everyone was happy. This seemed to be a great place to call your local, just a pity we live 300miles away. Will visit again when we are next in the area.

Major problems! I booked in advance as they had an offer of £5 off for kids if you book with ice-skating. When it came to paying the discount was not taken off. When said about it the manager came over and rudely sat at our table. I got my phone out to show him the offer as he did not believe me, but my G3 was not working so we had to pay the full price. Got home and looked on their website and it still said £5 off was valid. Emailed them got a message from Paige saying that it was their error and she would send me gift vouchers, never got the vouchers even after re-emailing her. Would not go again.

This pub on the eastern edge of Greater London has been extensively refurbished with a new covered patio area as well as a traditional pub garden. The kitchen also has undergone a makeover and there is now an extensive menu of traditional pub food. There is also a truly superb selection of real ales, including a couple from the local Brentwood brewery. On a recent visit with friends, my wife and I enjoyed excellent fish and chips on the patio. The quality of service was high and the cost was reasonable. Well worth a visit if you are in the SW Essex area.
