This is a great place to book a private function..even an after funeral venue as its cosy but with the big conservatory can hold quite a number..also beautifull garden with a view, tables and chairs behind and infront,The owners are easy to talk to to book such an event! The lunch menu is simple and home cooked..its a good place to hook up with friends during the week ..

This pub keeps a selection of beers, and knows how to look after them! They tend to be local brews, but the staff are quite knowledgeable about them if you are unsure which to try first!

Never tasted coconut beer before, its excellent. Inside the pub is really quirky with lots of strange items on display.

Have been here several times, great for the real ale enthusiasts and good for basic food. The Chilli is renowned locally and is lovely as is the cheesy garlic bread.

An excellent, privately owned pub with a terrific range of real ales! This is my favourite pub in the area because it has not been corporately-cleansed with poor value food at top prices and all the 'lightly bruised potatoes' and 'sun-blushed tomatoes' type rubbish on the menu! Instead, there is a basic menu of simple pub-grub thst is superb value. This is one our jogging club's (Henfield Joggers) pub run venues. Ham, egg and chips seems to be one of our staple diets and the meal provided here is far and away the best H,E & chips in any of the pubs we run from. It is also by far, the cheapest! We recently help our summer social at the pub and they laid on a BBQ which again, was superb. The decor in the gents should not be missed either! I simply cannot recommend this pub highly enough!

Attending events at The White Horse is very good, we attended both the new-years party and the wassail. The events were well organised and very enjoyable. This is a great pub if you are looking to have drinks and nibbles out, however their food menu is limited with few substantial options for vegetarians. The prices in this pub are very good, we especially like the outdoor gazebo. The atmosphere was very nice, especially at events.

Great but in need of a bit of TLC - would still recommend. Lovely traditional pub atmosphere and very friendly. Loo's a bit run down but all in all a nice place or a pint.

Happy to report that The White Horse now takes cards ! No more checking to see if you've got change in the car or that he's got a forgotten tenner tucked away ! Deep joy !

There are so few of them left; everywhere else seems to be gastropub aimed at young people. Specialises in local ciders and beers and often stocked at lunchtime with 'grumpy old men' leaning on the bar. The pub food on sale is limited in scope but again authentically pubby and of extremely good value. The place could do with a coat of paint inside but I hope it doesn't happen - it would spoil the old-fashioned times-gone-by feel of the place.

We had two lunches in this Freehouse which has a wide range of beers lagers and ciders. They have a simple menu of food that they produced quickly to order. The ham egg and chips was fantastic, locally sourced real ham and fresh eggs. The chilli is a local legend and was delicious and filling. Their prices are excellent but be warned, cash or cheque only, no cards. The kids play area is a simple but brought an hour of relaxation for us and joy for our daughter.

Always an extensive selection of local ales and warm fire. Hearty homemade food and lots of nooks and crannies to relax in. Simon and Beth have run this well for a long time and a good mix of locals and visitors.

Okay, so officially this place is not a restaurant, however the Chilli Con Carne is INCREDIBLE! Simon and Beth run the pub with the assistance of their door staff - the cat - Smudge. They have an amazing range of beers and ciders which are all beautifully kept. The chilli con carne (I know, I've mentioned it a few times) is made to a secret recipe (known only to Simon and Beth) and the chips are fried to perfection! The pub itself could do with a a little updating, they are getting their first card machine soon!!! but it is an amazing local pub.

This is the best pub in the area. Does food but limited to what they do best. Its run by the landlord and his wife which makes a big difference to pubs these days which are run by manager and boy or girl barstaff. It serves a range of beers and ciders and these are always kept well. Yes it is a bit clicky but so is the area. Just go for a beer and bowl of their chill - and the chips are 10/10

A bit clicky pub, poor dinning facilities in an out dated area which reminds me of a Pie and Mash shop, there are much better in the area

The White Horse is a 200 year old (Independently owned and run) Traditional English pub. It is a pub that has evolved rather than been designed. It has delightful idiosyncrasies that reflect the character of the owner (and no doubt his regulars). A group of friends / associates had an evening christmas dinner there the week before Christmas. I can honestly say that the meal we were served there was as good as, and probably better than I have had before in any business doing food, restaurant or pub. The beer was as always well kept and a good selection of at least five real (cask conditioned) ales as well as JB's cider from the orchard and cider press which has to travel from the other side of the road! (its a very narrow road so it shortens the journey somewhat) - The meal was also very reasonable I am not sure exactly how much but it was about £20 for a three course meal (followed by mince pies). I chose the traditional Turkey dinner with all the trimmings followed by X-mas Pud. The starter was Pate - very fine. The turkey was served with a slice of gammon on top giving it a superb flavour. The Pudding was bursting with flavour without being too rich or over the top, and complemented with just the right amount of brandy butter and a slice of orange on the side to lighten it up. I have eaten in the White Horse before, this time i felt compelled to write a review. for regular meals during the week I would recommend trying the legendary White Horse Chilli (Closed Monday lunchtimes).
