Lovely pub, great staff, but!!!! I am a member of a choir and we visited on Saturday 16 September had four plates (20) members, had 4 plates of sandwiches ( 4 quarters each) so one sandwich, and was charged £100, very disappointed, we sang and took requests for two hours. Everyone enjoyed. It’s a shame as we won’t go there again

Absolutely lovely bar staff and great atmosphere. The bar was running low on a few drinks but this is understandable as I visited on a Sunday and the most drinks are served on Saturdays.

Poor service. Half the menu not available. Essentially had my mother being the waitress

All 5 of us enjoyed our welcome host Jess she was so attentive in serving us drinks. Our food was pre ordered and it arrived immediately. We all enjoyed our meals - absolutely delicious. Thank you all including the Chef. Kate Howe & colleagues 👍🥳

We were wanting an early dinner on route back to Cardiff. We were not disappointed! Greeted with a warm welcome by Tim and then the best food (ceasar salad and chilli con carne, which had homemade tortilla chips - yummy) delivered by wonderful Jess who couldn't have done more for us. Jo came and checked on us after we had finished and again was a delight to the pub. 10/10 would defo recommend

Half tidy mun. Enjoyed the company

Have been going to the White Horse under various management for over 40 years. Over the last 5-6 years the place had got terribly run down and was no longer on our list of places to eat (we live nearby). We had heard new management had taken over and so we gave it a go. Decor - much improved from where it was. Everything appeared clean and tidy with new flooring. Service - very pleasant waitresses always smiling and helpful. Menu - traditional pub grub nothing fancy other than the offer of hanging kebabs. However there was no availability of these kebabs in the steak variety which it would seem was the second day in a row this was the case (not great given this seemed to be the speciality). Food - we had steak and chips and curry. Food quality was good overall for the price charged. Overall a good experience for pub food. It is now definitely back on our list of places to visit and hopefully the small criticisms pointed out will be addressed for an even better experience.

Went today for food here, absolutely delicious. Between us we had the gammon and steak, all cooked to perfection. The garlic mushroom sauce is a must have ! Then for dessert we had chocolate orange tart and chocolate fudge cake both amazing. Couldn’t fault it at all. Lovely friendly staff too

We visited here a few weeks ago for a catch up with friends, I must admit first impressions were good. A lovely looking traditional pub with nice seating outside. However, the food and the lack of quality spirits let it down. My husband found his steak to be on the tough side, annoying when you consider the price. My lasagne was better but was undercooked, the pasta sheets were crispy. In the vicinity there are very good steakhouses and italian restaurants so you'd think they up there game to compete. Sadly not this time. Abbie

Popped in for food and the place was super busy! Cerian sorted us out with a table for food and drinks - within 10 minutes she had us seated and ordering! Food was brilliant and the service was fantastic. Very grateful! Thanks again, Cerian 🥰 See you soon!

Came on Thursday 23rd of May with my partner the food was really good I had fish and chips the batter was really good the fish was cooked really well nice and hot the presentation was amazing the chef there done a really good job I will definitely be back

Often find these days that establishments hire young staff and unfortunately they aren't as eager to give good service. Also they don't have the experience to give good customer service. So I'm pleased to review that the two ladies in the white horse were very refreshing. Smiling, talkative, very hospitable. Knew what the regulars were drinking and could manage a bar. Food was a decent price and a good amount. Well done white horse, I'll look forward to coming back

Was looking for a last minute Sunday lunch while travelling down the M4. Nicely decorated character pub with great fresh food, decent portions and great, attentive service from staff.

I had the mixed grill and the wife had lasagna- both cooked to order really well, service was good, polite and attentive couldn’t fault it. A real gem.

Great service. There were some delays with food due to how busy they were but they then gave us puddings for free and some money off which were greatly appreciated. The lamb was good, the Yorkshire’s and roast potatoes were tasty and cooked very well. Would highly recommend and we will Most certainly be back for another Sunday dinner- the best I’ve had in a long time!

Our second visit for Sunday lunch - despite being very busy - Mothers Day - plus Wales playing ! we had a superb meal yet again. The staff even under pressure are pleasant and friendly- creating a lovely welcoming atmosphere.

We arrived ten minutes early and were shown to our table drinks ordered straight away. Our order was taken for dinner which took over 35 minutes to arrive. After we had our dinner my husband noticed all the other tables had two different servings of veg which we received just one greens over cooked and mushy. We ordered a dessert and waited and waited again the waitress came up to us and said the boys are running slow in the kitchen which I relied this is not good. half an hour later we received our desserts and my husband asked for the bill straight away rather than us having to wait again. Not impressed at all. When you take bookings you should be prepared for the amount of people booked for a quick turnover .... this did not appear to be the case.

Food is outstanding the Cajun chicken kebab is lush not dry fab. Friend wanted plain steak and chips which she had and was delicious. Definitely going again. Izzy our waitres was lovely. Can't fault anything atmosphere was relaxing too

Whatca superb Sunday lunch - the food was both substantial and well presented. I would urge all to visit the White horse and enjoy their quality meals.

A previous visit was good before Christmas. This Sunday was marked by tough lamb, hard stuffing and small napkins and poor waitress service. There was little attention to our needs or positioning of our table that would be free from Watching the rugby match. We were disappointed we had not been offered a table away from the game. Good but needs improvement

Many thanks to Jo and Andy for the amazing night they arranged for my 80th birthday celebration last Sat. 20/01/24. I gave them my requirements, arranged a fee, and left the rest in their most capable hands. The buffet, entertainment, and service were great and Jo decorated the room beautifully. The feedback from my friends and family has been most complimentary and I trust will be reflected in your future success.

I said i would not go back to this pub in September, well i did after i found out its under new management. Well they have done a great job,service is good ,good atmosphere, good menu . Well done you .I will be coming back more often

The White Horse Coychurch was always a nice traditional country pub that served great beer and good food. Sadly over the last few years/owners the quality of food & service has deteriorated……..until now. Having seen the menu on a Facebook post we decided to give it a try. The place was warm, cosy and very inviting. We were shown to our table by our waitress Tia who was full of energy, enthusiastic and polite. Once seated the landlady came to talk to us, again she seemed nice and genuinely happy to see us. We ordered 2, 2 course Sunday lunches. The Brie parcels & garlic mushrooms to start were both delicious. The mains were Roast Chicken & Beef, again both perfect. The mains were served with Roast Potatoes, Carrots, Parsnips, Peas, Stuffing, Yorkshire Pudding, cabbage & extra gravy bowl. We will definitely be returning although with the quality of the food I can imagine Sunday Lunches will soon be “fully booked” very quickly. Lastly, and a nice touch, as we were leaving the chef asked us how our food was, again he genuinely seemed interested with our response. Great work everyone at the White Horse, we wish you well in returning this great pub to its former glory.

Good food, excellent taste with great service and a good atmosphere

This is an amazing pub that I have been going to for years but the previous owner wasn't very welcoming to say the least. This isn't the case with the new landlord and land lady. The atmosphere in the pub has changed for the better and the food has improved no end. This is a real family pub that welcomes everyone. Went there for New Year's Eve celebrations that was well organised with a great atmosphere. Staff here are absolutely fantastic and can't do enough for you. I would highly recommend going here if it's just for a drink and catch up with friends, or a meal, I don't think you will be disappointed. Great staff, great atmosphere, amazing food.

We were a group of 14 for a family meal! The food was perfect & the staff made sure everything run smoothly, checking we were all happy & enjoying. Nothing could be to much trouble for the staff. All the food was very well presented & tasted amazing, the chef obviously takes pride in the food! We will definitely be returning! Thank you!

Visited the White Horse a few times, which have all been pleasant, until today.. Definitely wasn’t the friendly atmosphere we were greeted with on other occasions with previous owners. All seemed a little cold and unorganised. We asked the waitress if there were carrots in the lasagne ( as with previous owner, we knew it did, which isn’t to our taste). The waitress went and checked with the ‘chef’ and we were told “no, there aren’t any carrots in the lasagna.” My partner decided to then order the lasagna due to no carrots. The food then came, and there were indeed carrots in the lasagna, and plenty of them! We told the waitress about this and she told the chef who she said didn’t sound bothered as he’s “hard to talk to”. Lucky we don’t have any allergies! I think the chef needs to learn what a carrot is before serving any more (what I’m guessing is) ready made packet food. Disappointed and won’t be going back.

I had booked a table for 4 people and we turned up 5.50 on the night and was led to our table. The waitress told us that she would come to take our drinks order. After 15 minutes she had not come over so we had to go over to remind her. I was told when I booked the table that all menus were available but I was told that only the one on the table was available.She did eventually take our food order and we then waited and waited. It eventually turned up 7.15 even though there was only our table and one other that had ordered food. There only appeared to be 2 staff on duty and didn't appear to be any manager at all. If we only wanted drinks it would have been okay, but the food service was far too slow. Won't be back.

What a fabulous pub. lovely decor. The staff could not be more helpful if they tried. There were 14 of us for Christmas dinner and all our meals came out together, huge portions and lovely taste. All courses were outstanding. The service was just incredible too, they just Couldn't do enough for us. Would highly recommend.

Sunday Lunch: Cold plates / beef slices looked and tasted like cheap packet slices, which were very tough. Yorkshire pudding was huge and tasty. The roast veg on the plate was very good. However, the accompanying veg was tough, obviously microwaved. The peas were cheap, discoloured. I noticed that other tables left the veg. Just home from a lovely Sunday lunch at The White Horse. The food was cooked to perfection with generous size portions. Nothing was too much trouble from the friendly waiting staff. The pub was busy with regulars enjoying a drink in the sun. We will definitely be returning in the future.

Not enough staff otherwise happy enough

The staff are very friendly and helpful. The pub is lovely inside and has a really nice beer garden outside. The full English from the brunch menu was excellent. Plenty of parking.
