The Boverton Castle in The Vale of Glamorgan

Really nice beer garden and friend service. Dogs welcome and he got a treat. Food served all days except Monday. Unfortunately it was a Monday so cant comment on the food personally, but I had gone there on a good food recommendation.

Very rude woman answered the phone when I called to order a Sunday dinner, so rude I actually ended up in an argument with her on the phone and didn’t order in the end, ordered from the white heart.... You should really learn some customer service skills mate!

We went with friends to have Sunday lunch today. I had roast beef and I have to say I couldn't eat the meat. It was dry and flavourless, and the gravy was thick and gloopy, for £15 I expect better. But apparently it has a new landlord so I will put it down to teething problems. We all came away feeling very underwhelmed I have to say though.

Fisr visit was nice. Simple food cooked well. Wine very nice and service brilliant. Second visit not so good. Decided to just have a drink. The wine that I had on the previous visit was no longer available by the glass. Didn't have shiraz by the glass or Malbec by the glass. No choice but to have Merlot. Not very good. Lady behind the bar was multi tasking being the waitress and the bar man. Saw her carrying several glass in her hands. Her hands or rather fingers inside the glasses. Not very hygienic. The lady behind the bat looked as dated as the bar and restaurant areas. I thought it was under new management but they seem to be still looking for new tenants. Lovely location with a small car park. Would be a wonderful restaurant in the right hands. Would not visit again.

On visiting the boverton castle pub lunch time with my husband we were asked if we had booked, we had not but only 2 tables were occupied, we were told by the cook there was a party booked and was limited to one hour not even told in a friendly way. My husband and i just ordered a starter, my husband had garli mushrooms on toasted bread, when the meal arrived the bread 8hadnt been toasted and was white. i took it back and asked she would put it back in toaster. I was told i sbould have asked for it to be well toasted , no apology. When the food was brought back everything on the plate was cold it must have been left standing. My husband then took it back and said it was cold, the cook took the untouched food and walked into the kitchen saying, well im not doing it again not even offering to heat it up or offer something else, still no apolagy. I finised my meal whilst my husband looked on. We waited for someone to come to see us or bring back the meal hot. We asked to see the. Cook but was told she was too busy and offered a refund. I was told by her after making apperance at another table that the boss had threated to ban us. I couldnt believe what she said we were not rude in anyway. We just went out for a quiet lunch and drink we are a couple in our 80s my husband not in good health and was very upset to have been told this. Having used this pub regular throughout the summer months when it was close to closer they were glad of custom. This has sadden us and think the managent should look into this and know who pays the wages. The kitchen have only recently been back open with new managent and staff. Been a great pub in the past.

Smashing pint served by friendly efficient staff who adhered to strict Covid-19 safety measures at all times while still providing a warm welcome to their clientele. Highly recommended.

Great meal again last night.Not normally a big meat eater but both last week and last evening I chose the steak and it was melt in your mouth cooked to perfection.A large meal which was lovely and hot and reasonably priced in line with the rest of the pubs.Will definitely be coming again

Was stopping overnight in my lorry. Walked into town. Lovely pub. Staff friendly. Had a Chicken Tikka Masala. Absolutely beautiful. Will visit again.

Had a chicken curry rice and chips it was a nice large portion and very tasty while my wife had a steak and cheese pannie which she enjoyed

Kitchen has recently reopened with a new team. Food still really good. Open from 12-5 for meal deals and then till 8 for main menu. Great value, good food and nice ales.

Great staff, great food, first time I've been for a while and it was excellent highly recommended pepper sauce was one of the best great size portions even for kids food don't want to lose this great local pub give it a try!!

Absolute crap I booked a table for 6.30 as ot was my birthfday and I am now on my own as husband has alsheimers and is in a home,. Fppd eventua;;y came at abouuy 7.30 and was tod that there was bigger party than mine (n my own) who had booked steals and therefore why my meal was late was because of th steaks|) I ask you who iis the hell of a chef here wll never ever go back there again) walked out andnow having some cheese and crockers. Came with my friends, took us a while to be served for drinks as no one served us when stood at bar, asked for food at 6:30pm got told yes order when ready we take last orders at 7:45pm. Went in at 7:10pm got told we cant order food, theres no chance for us to have food as there are 4 tables in there. Disgusting service

3 of us at Boverton Castle this evening. 1 being a child of 11yrs. We all enjoyed our meals very much.

This place could be so much better, its in a great position and is the only pub in Boverton, the decor is dated and tired, if the owners invested and revamped the restaurant, maybe it would draw more customers in.

Every now and again we like to get out and try our local area pubs for Sunday lunch. Very impressed with the food and service we experienced at the Boverton Castle recently. Lovely starters and delicious main meals of chicken and beef. Plenty of vegetables ( lobed the mash and roast potatoes ) and lovely gravy. Thanks to Allison for looking after us and we will definitely return and would recommend it for Sunday lunch for sure.

If your in the area you've got to pop into the Boverton Castle, top of the range food and great ales with a fantastic atmosphere and great staff

Great to have a proper local. The friendly staff know your name. The foods great and the atmosphere welcoming. We weren't intending to visit today, but needed to go to the shop opposite and were drawn in by the promise of nice ale and a friendly smile 👍

Excellent staff and service, good ales. Dropped in for food after a walk along the coast path, very limited with vegetarian options for myself (otherwise 5 stars) but large portions and what was available was lovely. My partner (not a veggie) said her gammon meal was excellent. Great value, will definitely visit again.

So pleased that our new local has been such a welcoming venue. We've visited a number of times and have felt very much at home. They've recently started doing food again. We popped down on Sunday and had a lovely roast dinner. I had the pork, which had roasted loin, slow cooked belly and black pudding bon bons. Very much enjoyed that. I also helped the other half with her fererro rocher cheesecake. Didn't managed to get a before photo as she's couldn't wait to get started. A great pub and I hope it continues to be supported by the locals and visitors alike.

Lovely place lovely local friendly people...fantastic pint of Beer. Fish and Chip shop over the road is outstanding as well beautiful cod. Pub let you eat them in the Beer garden at the moment until they start doi g food again...

We went there for Sunday lunch just recently, and we had already booked our table. The service was quick and perfect, plus the food on the plate together with the tray of vegatables to select from were inviting to eat. We were never pushed to get out so that our table could be used by someone else and the two ladies there should be complimented on their service plus checking to ensure all was fine. There is plenty of parking there, but if not, just park across the road. The only downside was we had too much meat on my wife's plate, but, the lady there boxed the meat up so that we could take it home for our dog, who eat it so quickly he was licking his lips hoping we go again soon.

Ordered the curry I had just rice,nothing to write home about, menus are just a4 paper on a clip board, looked dirty and old, they looked like they were printed off a computer, so real easy to change

A meal to remember....Untouched by the larger pub chains thankfully, this was traditional pub experience at its best. My partner and I ordered beef & ale pie with mash for lunch and were impressed with the superb quality along with a reasonable price. It came with the tastiest homemade gravy served on the largest plate I have ever seen. Really friendly and personable staff as well. Will definitely be making this our regular haunt.

Went in for dinner. Had a very long wait considering they were quiet. Wife and daughter shared a fish and chips with an additional side of chips, didn’t finish due to it being very greasy. I had pulled pork if you can call it that, very unsatisfying, I only finished my because I was very hungry and hate leaving food I have paid for. The main ale that is advertised has run out. I resented having to pay for the meal. I will not be returning. I advise people to visit the White Hart or Blacksmith arms instead they are much better pubs.

6 of us had different meals and all enjoyed them. Plenty on the plate and piping hot. And very helpful and friendly staff.

Fantastic meal. Generous portions. Polite staff. And fast in producing at my table.would definately recommend anyone who wants a basic enjoyable meal to visit. They will not be dissapointed. I will definately be visiting again soon.

The Castle is now doing food again. Wednesday to Saturday and Sunday Lunch. Had a meal there last week as a family group. The food was excellent, will be going on a regular basis now.

Called in for a meal after seeing the signs outside stating 'good food / Sunday lunch / daily specials' etc .... only to be greeted by the (temporary) hosts, that there is NO FOOD and hasn't been for some 17 months now.Had a pint and connected to wifi (very bad phone signal).The beers are good / well priced and they have a great lounge and beer garden with ample car park ....But they need to sort out the signage .... very annoyingGiven directions as where to get a good meal nearby and then left.

Does not do food but GOOD selection of real ales Alison and staff make you welcome

The Bovey castle is a nice local pub, they don't do food any more. There is good parking and a play area for kids. Two bars and a pool table. You won't go there if your a tourist looking for dinner but everyone is friendly.

Newish management, they've stopped doing food, or at least there was no food on offer the evening we went, although the posters and writing on the lintels implied they are still doing food. Thatcher's cider on tap, also Doom Bar, so our group was happy with the choice of drinks. Reasonably clean and tidy.

Been twice now for food and it's been very nice both times

We booked a table for Sunday lunch for 4 people, met a friendly young lady. We were slightly concerned folllowing recent reveiws, but were pleasantly surprised.Sunday lunch is basically a roast with 4 meat options there is a vegetarian option, the meal was good, came promptly and all 4 plates cleared.we all had desert and a drink and the bill was less than £60. We wouldn’t hesitate to do again.

It was very dirty and shabby. We were cold upstairs.

It's OK for a quick drink, has building works going on outside which requires you to drive around the town to park in their car park!

On entering the building it didn't smell very clean and you could pretty much stick to the carpets. Tables were sticky and the food was clearly frozen stuff, definitely not fresh. The mash looked over microwaved. My opinion is to avoid.

Went here for lunch, we all had lamb shank (on the specials board) we were not disappointed, it was absolutely amazing, the meat fell off the bone. I tried one of the chef's homemade desserts - chocolate and pistachio cheesecake - OMG it was stunning. Would definitely recommend this place.

Anyways good food. Steaks especially. The chefs always cook it to perfection however you want it. My husband is an experienced chef and he loves it here. We anyways just come for a beer and the staff are always so lovely. Highly recommend this place. 100%

Fuimos a la Boverton hace dos semanas en una noche de viernes. Cuando fui a pedir comida el camarero dijo le diré lo que ya tenemos. Quería lasaña pero que no tenían ninguna, así que pedí sobresaliente. Cuando llegó estaba sorprendida de lo pequeño que era, era como un niño parte. Maleducado si sirven comida que asegúrese de tener suficiente para un viernes por la noche. Comimos lasaña antes aquí y fue excelente, pero no puedo decir lo mismo de la sobresaliente.

Fuimos allí para la cena, me encantó la comida parecía fantástico.
