The White Horse in North Warwickshire

Tuesday lunchtime. One lady. Rushed off her feet. Snapped at me to sit down after waiting to get attention. Said she'd be with me when SHE was ready. Then told me and my two sons we'd be waiting for food as there were others ahead of us waiting. She seemed frazzled and they clearly cannot cope when busy. Went somewhere else.

Really enjoyed the food here. Staff were really friendly as always

I've never had a bad meal here. The serviceis always friendly and top notch. The nut roast is the best I have ever had. I have just booked a Christmas dinner here.

The food was lovely and the girls waiting on were really nice 😊

Don't eat from the fish and chips if you wanna live

Myself and my friends usually come in every month for food and drinks. Normally we have a really nice time but last night the one barmaid on the bar was ever so rude. Not professional at all, made the atmosphere not the same as it normally is. She then later finished her shift and had an argument with a girl who i’d say looked 18/19 years of age. She was so rude to this girl

Had a meal here last night. Booked a table online about 4 days prior- arrived they didn’t have the booking. They seated us anyway, Was told they had sold out of margarita pizza - no problem at all, ordered something else. Sent the one meal back because it was vile. Told the waiter he took it away even the smell of it was vile. Anyway come to pay and they didn’t even offer to take it off the bill… so ended up paying for something that was not eaten by me because it was disgusting, then to top it off as we were paying what did we see being served…. pizza hahaha place is absolute shambles. Safe to say I won’t be eating here again.

Great Pub. Just called in for lunch after visiting a friend on a canal boat what a great choice we made ! Staff were really lovely and the foods great. Atherstone Town is well worth a visit plenty of history. The canal locks are very well kempt by thankfu;;y the volunteers and it makes a nice leisurely walk finnised by a pint at the pub.

Friendly staff, much bigger than first meets the eye.

We made a group booking for 21 people. It was a little tricky getting through to the pub (no email address on website and wrong email on Facebook page) but once that had all been sorted it was great! The staff were so friendly, the food came out on time and was really delicious. Nothing was too much trouble. Definitely worth a visit.

Not been for a while, the loud music put us off. We couldn't hear anyone talking!! We decided to go again tonight and pleased to say the music was at a better level. However, service was slow and they were not particularly busy. It took a while for our food order to be taken and it was a surprise to find there were no starters on the menu. Food was OK, although the butternut tagine only had 3 pieces of butternut squash? The young waitress was so busy talking to young girls stood with her, I think she forgot she was meant to be working! Also, it'd look better if she drank from a glass, instead of from a large bottle of water! Eventually she came to clear away our table. As were not asked about desserts, we decided to just have coffees. 2 coffees and 1 x 1/2 pint of Guinness. 2 coffees came but one was only a 1/2 cup, if that! It was topped up when queried. We waited for the Guinness. Eventually, after more chatting, and catching my husbands eye, the waitress remembered the Guinness and brought a pint. We told her we'd only asked for a 1/2 pint. Away she went and after a while brought a 1/2 pint. No desserts were offered. Maybe there are no starters or desserts? It was a shame tonight. Apart from the very loud music previously, we enjoyed visiting. The chef and the waitress were always pleasant. Nothing was too much trouble. Where have they gone? Shall we go back, not sure.

Very rude bar person, travelled a long way, tried to explain I was buying a drink, but she didn’t want to listen. She lost the pub about £150 over the weekend, will never go there again and would not recommend

Tom and Andrea are awesome and the food is always amazing we have eaten there lots of times and they never disappoint. We went in late last night after the kitchen had closed but they opened up again to cook us food for 3.x♥️👌

Been to the White Horse a few times for both food and drink. They have a lovely beer garden and nice restaurant area at the back. Never had a bad meal here. Would recommend.

In the centre of Atherstone seemed to the only pub serving lunch. Good selection of well kept ales. The food was nicely presented and freshly cooked

Always a good night out with live music on most Saturdays. Huge garden with plenty of seating and tables. Haven't tried the food yet, it it always looks and smells awesome when you pass the open kitchen. Friendly staff and good drinks.

I liked this place. Clean and cosy. On the plus side, food was excellent (we had the hot curry) and there was plenty of it. Beers good too. Waitress chatty and efficient, a surprise to find a service person in Atherstone who was knowledgeable about beers and menu options without having to ask someone else, and she was keen to ensure our needs were met. Atherstone needed a place like this, away from the mannerless yoofs and the old soaks. On the minus side though, the piped music was just too loud to hold a conversation, and some tables were next to a speaker. Didn't help that other patrons then had to raise their voices too. Best they turn the music down a little.

Been to The White Horse a number of times now. Decent pub grub, always really wonderful staff who are friendly and attentive. Also, attended for the Curry and Quiz night which was great fun and a wonderful deal. Would definitely recommend and intend to come to the quiz again

My dining experience at The White Horse was unfortunately marred by a few significant issues. While settling into my meal, I was taken aback to discover two pieces of bone within my burger meat, rendering my dish essentially inedible. Upon raising this concern with the staff, I was met with an unexpected response; rather than assistance, I encountered a fervent effort to discredit my experience, despite not seeking any compensation. This left a bitter taste, not from the food, but from the handling of the situation. On a brighter note, my partner's choice of chicken goujons was met with approval, hinting at the potential within The White Horse's kitchen. However, the overall service, though polite in nature, was hindered by its sluggish pace and a tendency to overlook details. In the end, while there were glimpses of culinary promise, the overall experience was dampened by these shortcomings. EDIT: the chicken repeated on my partner all night and made her unwell so I'm retracting my last comment now that time has passed. As for the sarcastic and frankly untrue explanations it seems still obvious the restaurant is far more interested in making me out to be lieing rather than apologise for an awfully experience. I paid in full and did not ask for anything on return why on earth would I be lieing. The fact your server was told I put the bone found in the chip tray not the slaw tray. My experience was poor and the argument with you after is not making it any better I stand by my review. And I never even mentioned in my review the burger were.so greasy I couldn't even eat the bun it was caked In Greese but I left that out.

A warm welcome on a cold evening

The White Horse really hit the spot that day -- it's more of a family space than a rowdy pub but the food was great and the vibe sweet.

Great pub, everything what I would expect is there. Fireplace, nice drinks, sports, food, beautiful beer garden and it's dog friendly!

Good atmosphere but beer was dead! 6 of us, 3 drinking carling 1 madri 1 wine 1 cider. The carling had no life to it, the pub is so nice and welcoming and such a good vibe, carling let it down.

Good food menu and nice staff look forward to going again

Lovely meal. Lovely staff. Only issue we had was that we were trying eat our meal in the restaurant part and there was a large group of men that were very loud, and we couldn't hear our own conversations.

Best Guinness in Atherstone. Great clean place with friendly staff. Super dog friendly and as a bar manager myself it’s so refreshing to see somewhere that looks after their lines, cellar, staff and customers.

Well what can I say finally have gotten round to writing my review for The White Horse which is now my to go place for Lunch with my little dog Saide as we have ladies day. The food is fantastic, they even cook a small sausage for Sadie Dog too and since it's been open we come when we can as our last lunching place closed for abit which is now back open however we won't be moving from The White Horse as its my new safe space where I feel so welcomed by staff and always meeting more of the locals. The Sundays roasts are fantastic too and worth the price to as you always get lots on the plate even Sadie dog got some meat brought out to her on a plate xox

Food ok, service ok but would not change chips for a jacket potato even though they are on menu!! Couldn't quite understand that!!

The food is always excellent, the beer lines a well maintained, giving you a great pint each time and the staff is lovely.

We visited whilst on a narrowboat holiday. This place was a pleasant 10 minute walk from where we’d moored. It’s a traditional pub at the front and a cafe/bistro/restaurant at the back. Good beers and well prepared tasty food served by friendly staff. Glad we chose it.

Nice pub with a fairly modern aesthetic, clean bathrooms and delicious food.

Had a beef Sunday roast, the portion size and the quality of the meat was lovely! And the cauliflower cheese was the best I’ve had!!! My partner had the gammon and he said that was lovely to! Friendly and attentive staff, definitely be back 😊 highly recommend the Sunday roast!

A group of us met up here for a meal and a catch up recently. It was the second time I have visited under the current owners and once again I had an excellent meal, great service and a thoroughly pleasant experience. Well done White Horse!

Put simply the best pub in Atherstone

Great place very surprised how big it was inside and the garden at the back for family's is superb highly recommended and the prices are very reasonable

This is a friendly sort of local feel pub with friendly welcoming staff, great selection of ales,beers and spirits, food service is either casual at the bar or table service with attentive service or even in the beer garden with toys for kids or big kids. Food is excellent, have not ever had a bad meal here.

Food was really tasty, served hot and quickly and the atmosphere was relaxed. Definitely recommend! Will be returning. Well done to the chef and waitress Grace - it was very busy!

Tried the Sunday Roast. Excellent food and plenty of it, so couldn’t sample the desserts. 👍

This is the third meal we’ve had here. Lovely food, friendly staff and a nice pint. The wine is nice too. Lovely clean pub. Would highly recommend it. Pies are lovely and so is the lasagne, burgers and curry. The beer garden is much improved too. Good to see live music too. 🍻

Great to see this place back open. Went for lunch Saturday afternoon and really impressed with the staff, the food, the service and the feel of the place. Deserves to be a success and well supported. We will be back.

100% the best place in atherstone to drink & eat! The atmosphere is so chilled and relaxing, bonus they are dog friendly. The staff are more than accommodating, the premises is always clean and welcoming. Deffo our new favourite hang out! I wish the current management all the best for the future.

Had such a lovely evening here with friends! Staff were great! It was busy but didn’t have to wait long to be served! Good atmosphere and good crowd! Would highly recommend and we will be back!

Met here on Saturday for a couple of drinks with a group of friends and ended up staying all night! Good choice of drinks and great service despite being busy. We had some pizzas which were really nice and stayed to watch a band in the evening. Thanks for a great night, we will be back again very soon!

Loved this place. Nice mix of traditional and modern decor and possibly the tastiest food I've ever had in a pub. Some typical pub meals, but also a big range of pizzas, huge hotdogs and really, really amazing chargrilled kebabs. Staff were brilliant; there was a slight mix up with our order but they sorted it out quickly and were super helpful. Seems like there had been a change of ownership or branding recently as it's now called The Bubble Inn - make sure you go to the right website as Google led me to the old one initially.

Please get rid if this chef he was an absolute disgrace. Limited menu to pizza purely because he wasn't adequate to make anything else. The pizza he did make was just about edible. Chef needs to go back to stacking shelves. On the other hand the waitress was spot on. She new that the food coming out the kitchen was dire and kept on apologising for it Give that lass a PAYRISE.

In this Dog Friendly pub the staff were, extremely, polite and helpful. The inside was clean and looked as though it had been given a makeover. The food was tasty and hot. The people were, even, nice to my humans. Ten out of ten!!!

We visited today as it was our first time in Atherstone it said doggy friendly and I can honestly say it was lovely. The bar lady was very polite and helpful the food really tasty and the surroundings clean and tidy would deffinately go again thank you

10 of us walked in at 2.30pm just as the kitchen was closing.... no matter, with smiles and assurances that it was no problem, we were shown to a table & our food cooked freshly... the food was outstanding and the service by Jack matched it... just excellent..

Good food in Atherstone. Solid choice for both a quick pint or dinner. Menu includes some salads, pizza's, steaks and hamburgers with the usual pub side dish options (fries, onion rings, ...). The pizza's, steaks and burgers are all good and tasty (sorry, haven't tried a salad), service is excellent and staff is very friendly.

I recently reviewed this bar and gave it a poor review with poor ratings with regards to the bar service but must know apologise as i have reviewed the wrong steaming billys. (I know)! I have never been to the atherston bar so must again apologise for my remarks. It must have been the beer!

Small place with food, good customer service. I was informed about delay as big group was nearby so no problem here. Average food but cosy atmosphere. A bit pricy and charity donation added to bill automatically without asking. Need to read your bill and asking to pay only for items you ordered. I know, maybe its a pound, maybe you can take it off your bill but its naughty to don't inform, a lot of people pay it without even knowing.

Lovely lunchtime treat from my son. Lovely atmosphere and great food. Nice contemporary setting and a good selection on the menu. Only reason not a 5 is that the pudding needed a fork as well as a spoon and another napkin and the waffle was a shade hard. Will be back!

Great choice of food, had a very tasty sandwich with chips and salad. Good service and didn't have to wait long for the food or drinks. Lovely decor and a pleasant outside area.

I love the food at Steaming Billy's, and the customer service is always really good. They have a vegan burger which tastes delicious. I have visited Steaming Billy's just to have a drink, and other times to have a meal. The restaurant is separate where people would normally drink, however, you can sit in the main area where people drink if you wanted to. One slightly negative thing I would say is the alcohol is really expensive for some reason.
