We had my dad's wake here and nothing was enough for Kim and the team. They made the day run so smoothly for us, we couldn't of picked a better pub to hold it at. Thank you all so much!

Halfway point on an 8 mile walk. Stopped for a bite to eat. I had faggot and chips, partner had stew. Both were a fiver and both tasted great, were hot and cooked to order. The Faggots were well seasoned, the chips weren't greasy, they were crispy and the stew tasted unctuous like it had been on the simmer for days. The staff were friendly too. Will definitely visit again.

After what was an excellent meal, we were all massively disappointed to find that they were no longer serving food less than 20 minutes after having our meals. Website states food 12-8 so strange for food to stop being served at 4 in the afternoon.Would return again for the food quality but not consistency

Nice pub. Good retro vehicle decor. My family including children visited after a days walk looking for food and a rest. Just missed serving time by a couple mins. We didn't plan it so was only a hopeful request. Did feel a little like that time of a Sunday night was really for the locals. We felt the need to drink our drinks, eat our Crisps and leave it to the locals. Apart from that it was a welcome stop on our walk today. Will check out food another time when walking in the area, checking times before hand now we know it is a good pit stop. P.s. if you have kids there is a lovely playground down the road for kids to have some fun.

A real old fashioned pub, which is obviously the hub of the village. We dropped in on a rainy day as we couldnt do our weekly walk. The lunch prices are realistic and the menu basic but you get lovely freshly cooked food. Starters: Crispy Breaded Mushrooms x2; Southern Fried Chicken Strips x1 Mains: Beer Battered Cod x2; Steak Pie & Chips x1 Starters cost £2 each! and our mains £5 & £4.50 respectively, excellent value for money.

How refreshing to visit a good old fashioned local pub, not a chain that looks like any other. There are signs that a bit of paint needs touching up, but this is a real pub and it is used the hub of the village. It also has real food, we stopped by for Sunday lunch, my wife had the beef that very good, while I had the turkey and not the wafer thin slices you would get at a typical carvery chain. There was a great selection of vegetables with piping hot gravey and a selection of sauces. Oh for the day when we had more pubs like this. This is good old fashioned home cooked food not a fancy restaurant, at very reasonable prices.

This is a typical old pub, it has a restaurant area which is comfortable, the menu is basic, we had pie which came with chips and peas, it was very tasty and filling. The prices are great they're average £6 per meal, and the puddings were around £2.50 each and lovely. Well worth a visit.

We visited the Wagon Load of Lime on spec one weekday in the autumn. There were four of us and we had a range of meals, two of us having starters. The food was good quality typical pub fare, and keenly priced. Service was efficient and friendly. The portions were comparable to any similar establishment, while the prices were competitive! Very good value and worth a second visit next time we are in the area.

Read the reviews and thought I would give it a try but was disappointed the first thing I noticed was the smell rof urine from the toilets the dinners were OK plenty of veg which I liked roast and boiled spuds very nice and all hot a proper Sunday home cooked dinner the roast beef was over cooked and tuff and why serve stuffing with beef ?the turkey was tasty I would give 6 out of 10 .The room it self is not very welcoming looks a little gruby I would go back and try there normal menus so give it a try but don't expect something too fancy price wise not too bad

Ours was not a planned visit. We were passing by having been to a nearby store. We came as a family and received a warm welcome and given a table with plenty of space. The young lady took our orders and although she explained it was 'Sunday lunch only' there was a choice of three meats which was fine by us. The food was very enjoyable, plentiful and cooked beautifully. We all, including the two children, thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and recommend without hesitation.

As soon as you walk in this pub you feel relaxed and welcome. The landlady and landlord have turned it from a place to avoid into the centre of the community. Crown green bowling is popular in Spring and Summer, and the pub boasts several teams. Charity events are very regular, and there are karaoke and quiz nights, live entertainment, and a lovely room for private functions. Food is home cooked, low cost and excellent. I recently went and we had 2 eight ounce filet steaks, plenty of sides and a bottle of decent wine..... for less than £30!!! Steak was cooked exactly as requested which makes a change these days. Sunday lunches are great, and similarly home cooked, save room for Freda's delicious desserts though! There is a good range of drinks, and the recent addition of guest real ales seems to be taking off very well, Try it!

We came to the area close to Hurley to buy local produce and afterwards we wanted to find somewhere for eats and drinks. The guy we bought from recommended The Anchor Inn. "It's a lovely place," he said. "The food is home cooked. It's lovely and not expensive." We decided to give it a try and how pleased we were. It's a traditional English pub, quite historic too and the food we had, some of it vegan, was lovely. The staff made us feel welcome and the cost of the food was very reasonable. The Anchor Inn is great, go on . . . give it a try.

I have gone past it for years and always thought the outside looked dull and not welcoming at all. So if the effort is not put in for the outside, then there cannot be much effort on the inside. The saying 1st impression comes to mind. Needs flowers and plant boxes and some change in a bit of colour. Boarders around grass edges done properly and more outside design in general. Could have huge potential with the right look and garden area done properly.
