Alright. Staff and customers were friendly. Just a regular village pub.

Had a wonderful ploughman's.. So much cheese.

Went in for food which was excellent and the service was great as well. Noticed they do other activities like quizes etc. Will be back.

I have been going for Sunday dinner here for a few years now, I can honestly say I have never had a bad meal, whatever your choice of meat is it always melts the veg is cooked to perfection. You have to book in advance because it is so popular, well worth a visit.

Service could possibly be a bit quicker, but the food was more than worth waiting for. Lamb and beef Sunday lunches were succulent and tender and accompanied by well cooked vegetables. Would highly recommend.

This place was honestly the highlight of our ramble today. We were served by a lady who was so warming and welcoming but human at the same time. A few mistakes were made but she made light of them and honestly had us creasing in laughter for the entire visit. The three of us are sorry if we were too loud but our experience was superior !

Yesrday I had the pleasure of dining at The Anchor at Hurley for sunday lunch. As a past owner of a dining pub , this is the first time i have found a place that equals or even surpasses my own . The food was excellent , meat and fresh veg , hot plate ,top class . Please do not change anything . the feeling of dining off a pristine table cloth ,pleasant serving girl all added to a visit to remember. My compliments to the owners and chef for a day that needs to be repeated soon .

4 of us just had a lovely meal today at the Anchor Inn Hurley and the food and the service was great and the price for 4 people having Lunch/dessert and soft drinks only came to £77.00 which is less than £20.00 a head which in this day and age is quite reasonable and the staff were very friendly towards us and we will definitely be going for another meal in the future as we enjoyed ourselves so much and it made a lovely day out and it is only 9.2 miles away from where we live so thanks. (5 STAR RATING)

We decided to give Sunday Roast a try as we are fairly new to the area and had been searching for a decent Sunday lunch from a local pub. We arrived to be greeted by the staff who were extremely friendly and accommodating. Vicky and Abbi in particular were great 👍🏻 We decided on the roast beef and it arrived in good time. The vegetables came separately in a dish, along with the condiments. The beef arrived just after with roast potatoes, parsnips, a homemade Yorkshire pudding, cauliflower cheese and some creamy mashed potatoes. Needless to say I finished it off even though the portion sizes were really generous. I would thoroughly recommend this pub to anyone that was visiting or locals who want quality food and great service.

It’s my fist time eating here and what can I say, the Sunday dinner was amazing. All home cooked with a side of lovely cauliflower cheese. The restaurant is spotless and the staff or so sweet. Give it a go you won’t be disappointed. 10/10

Lovely, dog friendly village pub with great, value for money food and friendly staff. Have been here several times since moving to the village and it feels homely already.

We were passing and arrived by chance, looking for lunch. There was already a party seated waiting to order so we were politely informed that we would have to wait for our food. This was no problem for us, so we took our drinks into the garden while we waited. The garden was charming, a real sun trap, with plenty of play equipment for small children, and covered areas in case of rain. When the food arrived it was beautifully presented and delicious. The portions were generous and used lovely fresh ingredients, and all the meals were well priced. The service was excellent too. We would definitely recommend and hope to return soon.

We had spent the morning at the local alpaca farm and found this pub as one of the closest on the maps. We were all starving and looking forward to some lunch. We took the kids to the toilets then went to order. My sister was told that they were not serving food as they were busy. I couldn’t believe this as another couple who arrived after us had just been served and had ordered food. I went to speak to them to see what the issue was and as told they were busy and would be closing in half an hour. It was 1.30pm. We were so disappointed. Had we not taken our kids to the toilet, we’d have been served without issue? Incredibly frustrating. Not even an apology. If you’re looking to visit, phone ahead to avoid disappointment - opening hours suggested it was open until late, but clearly better checking in advance. We went to The Swan instead which is only 5 minutes down the road and we were not at all let down - would highly recommend for fabulous food, great atmosphere and excellent service.

Absolutely loved this pub, I can't wait to try the food here. Lovely people, spotlessly clean and we even found a relative in a photo on the wall..😊 They serve Mild here, which was a real delight as I hadn't drank it in years. Definitely recommended, this is a hidden gem that deserves to be recognised.

Went today for sister in laws 70th Birthday, absolutely amazing food,and large portions at very reasonable price,all freshly cooked.Staff were very friendly, a lovely pub to enjoy superb meals,will definitely come again.

We go here monthly never had a bad meal or a bad experience. Staff are lovely it's clean tidy and the foods delicious and done fresh

What a real country pub should be like

I'm definitely going to return. Nice location, staff and folks were friendly. Decent enough selection of drinks. Reasonable prices. But for me, the food topped it off. It really was top notch, head and shoulders above what I have come to expect from an establishment such as this. Feel privileged to have it so near. Thanks all at the Anchor inn. I'll be back soon. Eager to try the Sunday roast which has come highly recommended. If it's on the same par as the rest of the menu I'll be booking way in advance. Thanks

Not for the first time we went the The Anchor (Hurley). This time it was my birthday treat, so I chose The Anchor! (Could have gone any where). Good food, good value and super service by very lovely staff! Thank you again Hurley for a delicious steak cooked to perfection...perfect! 100 stars 🌟 🤩

Had a lovely afternoon here,decor needs abit of an update but doesn't detract from the friendly pub. We didn't eat here apart from a crisp buffet! Got piddled and had a great afternoon!!

Been going for years, from the time my mom worked there in the 70s, different owners now but still a friendly place to drink and have a bite to eat.

Outside there is a sign which reads " hot and cold food" - only when you book apparently, there were five tables out of seven vacant, they didn't have a choice of decent wine, the bar person had a very thick accent and had to repeat three times to us "are you booked?" and when we said "no" we were informed that we were not welcome to eat without a booking - considering the amount of empty tables I would have thought that a few more customers would have been a good thing but obviously they don't want the business - certainly won't be even thinking of going there again!!!!!!!!!!

Had a great trip to the Anchor today for our family Christmas get together. My dad Brian is a regular and recommended this pub to us saying it has the best Sunday roast around the area. Being visitors from the Peak District we were keen to find out for ourselves. The food was cooked perfectly, especially the roast potatoes and sprouts. The portions were plentiful and the atmosphere was friendly and welcoming on a cold winter's day. The pub has a real comfy feel to it and the staff can't do enough for you. I am vegan and they were really accommodating, making extra roast potatoes and stuffing for me and asking what I could and couldn't eat etc to avoid mistakes. Definitely coming back for another visit next time we're down. All you need guys is a vegan dessert on the menu . Everything else was perfect . Thank you and merry Christmas. Dan 🙂

The food was excellent, there was a little wait because the food is cooked fresh it was well worth the short wait. The portions were very generous. They have a light bites option too, but to be honest we could hardly tell the difference. The surrounding were well presented and a nice treat was white table cloths. Its ideally placed for lucky trails Alpaca walks.

I just had a gut feeling about this pub and I wasn’t disappointed. Went last Sunday . Felt totally welcome when we first went in . The staff were warm and friendly as well as attentive. The food came piping hot which is a rarity these days and even more so the plates were hot !!! Food was excellent and plentiful, a smaller meal is available for those with smaller appetites. Linen tablecloths and spotless clean dining area …… well done the proprietors….. you know how to deliver great food and ambiance . Pudding was homemade cherry pie and again hot and tasted great . Will definitely be returning soon ..,. 11 out of 10 ✅ Thanks guys 👍🏻

First time I visited.The covid procedures in place makes it a safe as you can be.super food .3 different meals all came out piping hot and delicious.will be back again soon . Keith

Visited Sunday 11Oct. For Sunday lunch, had roast beef, what a superb meal, highly recommend. Followed it up with cherry pie with ice cream. Go try believe me you won’t be disappointed.

Visited today for Dinner,upon arrival we were asked to sanitise our hands then shown to our table. The dining room is set out with screens between the tables which gave you a sense of privacy as well as safety. The waitress was friendly and very pleasant and speedy with the drinks order, we ordered the lamb today but could have had beef or both. Our table was booked for 12.45 and our dinner came out precisely on time, the lamb was cooked to perfection so tender no effort eating it as was the fresh veg, roasties like your nan used to cook not your aunty Bessie.A mask is mandatory as you enter the pub and if you have to leave your table for any reason, this is for everyone's safety. We shall be visiting again. Thank you to all staff at the pub.

Best Sunday dinner in our area. You won't get anything better. If you want a dinner like your mum/nan used to make then the anchor is the place to go. Tracey and the team work extremely hard and continue to deliver perfection every week. We wouldn't go anywhere else. Keep up the great work x

A great, friendly pub, catering for families and drinkers. There is a lovely beer garden, with a play area for the kids. The real ales are kept to perfection and the food is excellent, (booking advisable, especially Sunday lunch). We'll worth a visit.

Well what can I say. We had a family meal to celebrate my wife's birthday at the Anchor. What a great night it was. We were made very welcome by hosts Tracey and Matt and their staff. With food pre ordered it was cooked and served brilliantly. Everyone commented on how nice the food was and the portion sizes. All said that they will be returning to the Anchor in the future. We will definitely be returning. If anyone likes a great home style cooked meal that is well cooked and presented then the Anchor is the place to go. Value for money is 10/10. Around 15 of us started and finished our monthly walk at this lovely little pub and what a good experience it was. The friendliness of the staff was just outstanding and the quality of the food served was also first class - generous portions, lots of choices available and all of us served together. The manager even opened the restaurant on Monday for us because they usually dont serve lunch on Mondays. I highly recommend this pub and we will definitely be back in the future. It was such a lovely experience there.

Dined here 2/5/19 arrived 17:30 pick of tables, nicely laid out, well presented, both had gammon, good quality food well cooked, chips were nice too! Very reasonably priced. Beer...... this establishment has well kept traditional ales and the beers were of excellent quality! Thank-you
