Booked Sunday dinner for 3.30 pm with my family (6 in total) to have a get together before Xmas. However, we didn't get our food order until past 5 pm. We could see they were busy so we waited patiently (and so did our 5 year old granddaughter) but it was extremely frustrating to watch people who arrived and placed their order after us be served their food and not one member of staff came over to ask if we were ok. We were initially offered drinks on our arrival but after 1.5 hours, no member of staff bothered to come to our table to ask if we wanted any more - if they had they might have realised there was a problem. I was really looking forward to this occasion but it put a complete dampener on our rare family get together. When I complained we were told there had been a technical mix up with the order being sent through to the kitchen. However, if staff had been more attentive, they might have realised sooner about the problem. My recommendation to management is for each member of staff to be allocated certain tables so they can give a dedicated service. We just felt ignored! Fortunately, the food was good but unfortunately we won't be returning. Poor service drives me insane - it's so unnecessary. If you haven't got enough staff, don't accept the reservations!

Visited here with family for Sunday lunch. It was very busy but the staff were all very friendly and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. Ordered the feast to share which came on a large platter with all three meats, all of which were cooked brilliantly and it came with all the trimmings. Cauliflower cheese was particularly delicious. Spoilt for choice with the puddings but decided on the sticky toffee pudding which was delicious and freshly made. This place never fails to disappoint. Definitely will be returning and can highly recommend.

Visited for Sunday Lunch as enjoyed eating here in the past. Food on the whole ok. Beef served without advertised Yorkshire pudding but this was rectified when asked. Service was very slow. As we had a dog we were seated in the bar. This would have been absolutely fine however it appeared we were forgotten about and had to prompt staff for desert orders. Elderly mum approached the bar to ask if we could order deserts but unfortunately she was there a while as staff were involved in a personal conversation at the time. The exterior door on the bar needs attention as closed with a loud bang every time someone entered or left the premises, therefore unable to sit and relax to enjoy meal. We do not normally write reviews but felt disappointed to witness such a decline in a once pleasant restaurant. Definitely wont be returning.

Well what an over priced poor experience, the beef looked and tasted like a cheap microwave dinner, the roast potatoes had sat for way to long under the heater to a point they were dry and hard, the veg was under cooked and the mash which we had to pay extra for way like eating stodgy sand, will not be going back when you can get better carvery at Middlemarch.

Sad as always loved this place but we placed on a table big enough for 2 people for 4 of us in the in restaurant for Sunday lunch by the bar which meant we were constantly bashed as people were back and forth to the kitchen, so it was like sitting in a corridor as too many tables in a tight space and very noisy as too cramped. Beef was extremely tough and the vegetables should be al dente but these were basically raw. food was cold and puddings too. Very sad as this was £100.00 for four people for Sunday lunch. Wouldn't recommend going unless it's the summer and can have a drink outside only.

The place is in a beautiful setting with a duck pond out front, it wasn't busy when we ordered food but we still had a lengthy wait before it arrived. We had gammon egg and chips and a burger and fries. The gammon was inedible which put me off the booking I was going to make for Sunday lunch. The staff to their credit gave us a 20% discount, but that still made the bill £45, which I thought was a little pricey. Would we go again ? Maybe if we were passing and we fancied a drink.

We decided to have our engagement meal here, as it was where we had our first date! It was the most perfect evening. We had access to the function room as soon as they opened to decorate. We were allowed to have anything we wanted (as long as it met health and safety) Zoe and her team were really friendly, relaxed with us and super professional. We had direct contact with Zoe, the manager, throughout the planning, who was so accommodating with meal choices including meat, vegetarian and allergen options. We had 29 people in our party, including 4 children, the food was incredible! Hats off to the chef/team for getting such hot and delicious food out to our table of that many with no errors! The food was endless! Our party was looked after by Charlotte and her colleague, there was nothing they wouldn’t do for us. So attentive and caring. I could not recommend this place enough! 10/10 We will continue to come back here for our anniversaries and in between! We have lots of love the The Rose Inn at Baxterly and their team! Thank you so much xx

We visited this charming, beautiful pub after seeing it on Google maps 😀 On approaching, we could see the pond and the ducks, and we were in awe. Seating outside next to the pond was lovely. We visited on a Tuesday and so should have had a discount on our food and despite reminding the cashier at the till we wasn't given it... £65 for two mains and a couple of drinks each. It wouldn't have been so bad, but the food, although cooked to perfection (compliments to the chef), the portion sizes were so small! Crispy potatoes on my plate were literally smaller than French fry crisps. Wouldn't go back for food but would visit again for a pint next to the pond.

Not a good experience I'm afraid, such a lovely place but under staffed on the day i went, food was poor quality (very salty pie's). Sticky tables and floor, When other staff turned up they spent more time flirting with each other in front of the customers rather than looking after them. I remember when the chefs were heard and not seen- they should stick to cooking not flirting. Perhaps better food could be made. Wont go again.

Gorgeous old pub. Have driven past a few times, but went one afternoon at last for some lunch. Food was amazing (I had the Laksa with chicken, followed by the brownie). Weather was beautiful so we sat outside with all the ducks! (They kept my little 4yr old boy entertained for our entire stay!) The only (small) negative is the benches are very worn and could do with being replaced (but there are so many, I appreciate what it would cost to do that!) Will definitely be going back!

Went on a busy Saturday night and when we were seated we were informed that there was rump steak left which was no problem. What was a problem was that the deficiencies didn’t end there - the portion sizes which were sent out were minuscule compared to what we’ve had previously here. There was obviously a shortage of ingredients and instead of stating that and taking more things off the menu the chef decided to send out half of what what usual for the same price to stretch it out. Dishonest and wrong. Shall not be returning.

I had eggs Benedict, eggs were perfectly poached hollandaise was a good consistency and the ham was thick cut with plenty of it! Boyfriend had the large full English option which was a great sized portion with plenty of squares and bacon. Meat tasted like butchers meat and not cheap with good quality sausages and fried bread. We were served by Eleanor who was wonderful and told us about the rest of the menus the pub does. It’s also very dog friendly with a selection of dog treats available. Prawn and smoked salmon starter had the tiniest piece of smoked salmon on it, it was pointless. One piece of bread. I thought it poor for the price. The Sunday main was poor too. Three small pieces of turkey, three roast potatoes and some carrots and broccoli. Yorkie pudd were 1.50 extra and cauli cheese, mash and stuffing 10.00 extra, I’m not a big eater but the mash wasn’t even enough for one and surely turkey should come with stuffing? feel conned to pay extra for a Yorkshire pudding as you are asked if you want one but not that it costs extra. Shocking service and pretty poor food for the money. Arrived at the pub kinda shown table what I mean is the waitress walked ahead of placed two children menus on the table and walked off so we presumed we were sitting there. Food order was taken in good time though 35-40 minute wait for food to arrive sadly when food did arrived it wasn’t as expected. My chips and the wife’s wasn’t warm and wife’s thick cut chips where still raw in the middle. The steaks 1 medium rare 1 medium well where both the same they where also of poor cut very gristly and hard to chew. Onion rings where stone cold any other time we would have complained but it was a family affair being a 70 and 80th birthday meal sadly if we complained most if not all food would have gone back. £18 for chips and a burger sorry but iv had better from local takeout the prices and food quality are so far apart we wouldn’t recommend here none will we be going back sorry.

Went yesterday for the first time. The waitress was very abrupt and rude. We wanted to sit on a table for 4 despite there being only 2 of us. But she insisted we say on a table for 2 as she would have to move us. She didn't ask nicely either. So we did. All the time we were there NO one came in and we were all alone so we could have had the table for 4. The coffee was cold but as I didn't want to tell the waitress I drank it. It was obvious she didn't like us. One thing I will say the food we had was beautiful and probably the best I have had in a long time. We were asked if we wanted a desert. But declined as the smell in the room was dire. It was like Shake and Vac smell and very over powering. Would I go back...... Possibly in the summer but this experience put me off. I did message the pub about all this but as yet no reply

Was here for Sunday lunch in October part of a group of 8 and it was fantastic. Latest visit just the 3 of us. The Sunday lunch was nowhere near the quality of our last visit. It was barely warm. The trio of sides (mash, stuffing, cauliflower cheese) had clearly been cooked hours and didn’t look or taste fresh. The roast meats were chewy and the pork in particular was largely grizzle. The beef wasn’t much better and we left the outsides of the slices. The roast potatoes were overdosed with pepper. The rest of the veg was fine. Drinks fine. Staff fine. What you get would be fine priced at £12 but not at £16. 3 main courses and 3 soft drinks was the best part of £70. Too much for what you get.

Every course was hot, tasty and plentiful with no expense spared. The management and staff made us all feel welcome from the off and nothing was too much trouble for them. They were friendly, polite and very professional on what was a very busy restaurant. No rushing through the 5 courses and no pressure to finish. The main was Xmas dinner with all the trimmings and as much veg as you could eat A nice touch was the cheese board to finish The atmosphere was good with a good mixed crowd. We sometimes forget that the staff have sacrificed their own Xmas day to make ours special and special, was what we all felt The staff were all a credit to the Rose Inn and we look forward to doing it all again in 2024. Well done team Rose Inn

2nd visit to the Rose was on Xmas day, and what a fantastic feast this place put on. The staff worked extremely hard and continued to be polite and friendly throughout, which must have been a difficult day for all the Xmas day working staff. 5-Course meal complimented with a glass of bubbly and soft drinks for the grandchildren. All courses were exceptionally plentiful, and all came piping hot. Although the restaurant was full, there was no panicking from the staff, and they managed to stay professional and polite throughout. Well done, team Rose Inn, we will certainly look to book for Xmas 2024 Excellent service and even better food. Sunday lunch was plentiful and full of meat. Definitely return to this fantastic pub restaurant 👌

I dont really go to Costa often...although do love the festive drinks at Costa, my favourite is the black forest hot chocolate, and my daughter loves the mango cooler (which I think tastes like a solero) its lovely...im not a fan of their cakes, they always look good, but I'm always dissapointed....they tend to be dry, even when it's early and they should be fresh. I do feel the food is highly priced for what it is to be honest. I'd rather go to a small independent coffee shop. I think food wise the best thing they do is the mac and cheese and their mince pies.

We had my dad's wake here and nothing was enough for Kim and the team. They made the day run so smoothly for us, we couldn't of picked a better pub to hold it at. Thank you all so much!

We came to the area close to Hurley to buy local produce and afterwards we wanted to find somewhere for eats and drinks. The guy we bought from recommended The Anchor Inn. "It's a lovely place," he said. "The food is home cooked. It's lovely and not expensive." We decided to give it a try and how pleased we were. It's a traditional English pub, quite historic too and the food we had, some of it vegan, was lovely. The staff made us feel welcome and the cost of the food was very reasonable. The Anchor Inn is great, go on . . . give it a try.

I wanted a plate of food and a pint after a long day - staying nearby where could I go? To be fair the information available on the web is minimal ( different names, locations etc) but as within walking distance of where I was staying thought I would give it a go. Not disappointed, great selection of good honest pub food at decent prices with a nice selection of draft pints available - again at decent prices! Scampi & chips + a pint of Thatchers exactly what I wanted and I couldn’t have asked for better,,,,, It’s now called The Bulls Head!!
