Rose Inn Baxterley in North Warwickshire

Ordered drinks on arrival, waited 15 minutes and had to go the bar to chase! Service very slow! Meals were ordered chicken burger and chips and Lamb shepherds pie with crusty bread as per menu. Served shepherds pie with broccoli and not the crusty bread and no mention of the reason why. Twice they got my order wrong, they bought the chicken burger out without the bun, took in back to the kitchen and bought out a beef burger! Service and food quality are declining. We would not come here again.

Another fabulous meal. This place does not disappoint at all. Delicious food, lovely and homely pub with great service.

Unfortunately I can only give this place a 3 star even though the food was exceptional! The service we received was slow (don't expect to get service or even a drink if you’re not a regular!) We were sat on time but had to get up and out of our seats to get a drinks order even though two tables sat after us had theirs taken before us. No one asked to see if we needed any more drinks or if our food was okay (it was great by the way guys) After all this we thought we’d try desserts. Unfortunately no one cleared our table and asked if we would like a desert menu. Even after clearing the two tables next to us which were SAT AFTER US. It just felt like because it was our first time there they just didn’t want us there. In the end we just asked for the bill and headed home. (Which is only round the corner in baddesley) I think we’ll stick to the other pubs in the area for equal service for all. Thank for the great food though.

Warm welcome, accommodating, even went the extra mile with the music in the restaurant for us as we were the only table in. Food was so outstanding. The new owners have cleaned up and made the place beautiful.

Amazing service, friendly staff,service with a smile, lovely country pub, can't wait for the summer to arrive so I can sit outside with the ducks in the pond, food was absolutely gorgeous and the pub was very clean and tidy well kept up I highly recommend 100% laura and her team are doing a fantastic job

Been a few years since I’ve been to The Rose. We all had 3 courses, family of 5. Everyone said their food was delicious, we’ll definitely be returning soon.

Had the feast for 2 on a Sunday. Could not finish it as was that much food. Quality aswell was very tasty

Great pub with delicious food! I had both dinner and breakfast here, and everything was perfect. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere was lovely. As I was dining in the pub, they kindly allowed me to park my camper van overnight in their spacious car park, which was much appreciated. Highly recommended!

We were on our way home from Birmingham and a quick scan of Trip Advisor reviews made the Rose Inn my selection. I chose a table by a radiator as a previous review had mentioned that it was cold there. It's a country pub so people expect a log fire but food quality is the key issue and it didn't dissapoint. We don't go out to eat very often as I consider food standards in the UK generally poor unless you've got loads of money. We've enjoyedholidays in France as there's no such thing as a bad meal there! I was dissappointed that they no longer do the 2 courses for a tenner deal for senior citixens but we chose the chicken breast special for £16.00. This was definitely French quality and French style in the presentation and the way the breast was trimmed with the wing bone left on. Staff could not be more pleasant and helpful and the prices were not cheap but not over the top. Adnams cask beer was excellent. Best UK meal I can remember and I wish it was nearer to my home but we will be back.

Lovely countryside pub. We were met with a warm welcome by Sharon and Jess and promptly showed to our table and asked what we would like to drink. We both had a starter and a main course, the starters were quite expensive (£8) and fairly small portions, although they were both really tasty. The main courses came promptly, I had the beef and pasta which was lovely and my partner had the fish and chips. Would I go back? Yes as the service was excellent and I want to try the burgers as they looked amazing.

The food was amazing, great selection of gins and spirits, premium draught products to go with their premium food. Friendly helpful team. Cant wait to go back! Had been for sunday lunch before and just WOW the feast is just that.

We have been a few times and always enjoy our meals here. A beautiful location. We recently went, all my family. 23 of us, we had Sunday roast dinners and the food was beautiful!! My mother has food intolerances with gluten and dairy and doesn’t eat out much because of this. They did her own meal catering her needs and she was fine after. She was over the moon. She really enjoyed her turkey roast too. Would highly recommend especially is a big group of you. The prices are great too. One of the nicest roasts we’ve had in this area.

This is the 2nd time of going within 2 weeks. First time my wife had the 10oz sirloin and I had the turkey ballontine which was absolutely delicious. Today we have been again and both of us had the same meals. The steak was cooked to perfection and extremely tasty and as for the turkey ballontine it was once again beautiful, as was all the trimmings. The staff are all very friendly and we had an exclusive look at the incoming new menu which the sous chef, Chris showed us. Boy can he cook 👌🏻. The new menu will be available from 13th I think so if you want to try the Ballontine get in quick, it’s definitely worth it 😋. Can’t wait to try the new menu. See you soon 😃

Had a lovely Sunday lunch. Food was great and service was friendly.

Lunchtime visit for a party of 11. A drop in with our family after a visit to Kingsbury Water Park. Was really made welcome by the host and good with the kids. Swiftly took our drinks order, catered for non alcohol drinkers in the party. Not too long a wait for our food order which was a mix of ciabatta's and children's burgers. All come together at the same time and to a good standard. A nice traditional pub and on the whole, a nice enjoyable visit.

Just returned from having a fantastic lunch at this pub. Lovely food, great choice on the menu & good beer as well! The beef rib melted in your mouth, my wife’s Malaysian Laksa was delicious & our friends Turkey dinner was, in his words ‘the best he’d ever had in a restaurant’! Would definitely recommend!

Just had a fabulous lunch at this restaurant. Great choice on the various menus, my beef rib bourgignon was absolutely delicious! Nice sized portion & a lovely choice of veg to go with it! The beef melted in your mouth! My wife had the Malaysian Laksa with prawns, again, absolutely delicious. Our friend had the Roast Turkey ballontine, said it was the best Xmas dinner he had ever had in a restaurant! And to top it all off Bass on drought! Great service & a lovely old fashioned traditional pub. Will return in the summer to eat & drink overlooking the village pond! Definitely recommend!

Fabulous set festive meal for 28 people. Our Walking Netball Group Christmas celebration. The soup was to die for we would like the recipe!!! Succulent prawns and salmon starter. Mains were served hot good selection of vegetables. Creme Brulee one of the best! Good service and great atmosphere. Thank you everyone

Great little country pub with fresh food

Booked Sunday dinner for 3.30 pm with my family (6 in total) to have a get together before Xmas. However, we didn't get our food order until past 5 pm. We could see they were busy so we waited patiently (and so did our 5 year old granddaughter) but it was extremely frustrating to watch people who arrived and placed their order after us be served their food and not one member of staff came over to ask if we were ok. We were initially offered drinks on our arrival but after 1.5 hours, no member of staff bothered to come to our table to ask if we wanted any more - if they had they might have realised there was a problem. I was really looking forward to this occasion but it put a complete dampener on our rare family get together. When I complained we were told there had been a technical mix up with the order being sent through to the kitchen. However, if staff had been more attentive, they might have realised sooner about the problem. My recommendation to management is for each member of staff to be allocated certain tables so they can give a dedicated service. We just felt ignored! Fortunately, the food was good but unfortunately we won't be returning. Poor service drives me insane - it's so unnecessary. If you haven't got enough staff, don't accept the reservations!

It is a country pub in a good location

Amazing lunch. I had the chicken tika burger with masala fries, which was amazing and so filling I couldn't finish it all.

After a stressful day at hospital, we decided to treat ourselves to lunch, the food and service was totally outstanding.

One of our regular places to go for a drink and lunch, and we are never disappointed. We have been going for years, we take friends and family when they visit and they all love it. Great atmosphere, fantastic staff, good food and they serve the best Guinness in the area!

I have been a few times and found it good all round but today I was very disappointed! I was far too hot next to the radiator but when I complained I was not offered another table and told they would turn it off...sadly this didn't happen. Food was disappointing from my past experience.

Amazing sunday lunch i will be back for more

Visited for Sunday Lunch as enjoyed eating here in the past. Food on the whole ok. Beef served without advertised Yorkshire pudding but this was rectified when asked. Service was very slow. As we had a dog we were seated in the bar. This would have been absolutely fine however it appeared we were forgotten about and had to prompt staff for desert orders. Elderly mum approached the bar to ask if we could order deserts but unfortunately she was there a while as staff were involved in a personal conversation at the time. The exterior door on the bar needs attention as closed with a loud bang every time someone entered or left the premises, therefore unable to sit and relax to enjoy meal. We do not normally write reviews but felt disappointed to witness such a decline in a once pleasant restaurant. Definitely wont be returning.

Wonderful Sunday lunch-had seen lots of positive reviews on FB, and we weren’t disappointed- the food was great-lots of fresh veg-upgraded to fillet steak and it was perfectly cooked. Staff were lovely. Will be back.

Well what an over priced poor experience, the beef looked and tasted like a cheap microwave dinner, the roast potatoes had sat for way to long under the heater to a point they were dry and hard, the veg was under cooked and the mash which we had to pay extra for way like eating stodgy sand, will not be going back when you can get better carvery at Middlemarch.

Visited here with family for Sunday lunch. It was very busy but the staff were all very friendly and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. Ordered the feast to share which came on a large platter with all three meats, all of which were cooked brilliantly and it came with all the trimmings. Cauliflower cheese was particularly delicious. Spoilt for choice with the puddings but decided on the sticky toffee pudding which was delicious and freshly made. This place never fails to disappoint. Definitely will be returning and can highly recommend.

Six of us visited on a Wednesday afternoon. Delicious food, nice friendly atmosphere. Kelly went above and beyond to make our visit enjoyable. Looking forward to a return visit very soon.

Sad as always loved this place but we placed on a table big enough for 2 people for 4 of us in the in restaurant for Sunday lunch by the bar which meant we were constantly bashed as people were back and forth to the kitchen, so it was like sitting in a corridor as too many tables in a tight space and very noisy as too cramped. Beef was extremely tough and the vegetables should be al dente but these were basically raw. food was cold and puddings too. Very sad as this was £100.00 for four people for Sunday lunch. Wouldn't recommend going unless it's the summer and can have a drink outside only.

Fantastic food in a beautiful setting. The food was so tasty and was hot. Plates were hot and great choices on the menu. Pub could probably do with new carpet and abit of tlc, but I suppose this is the older pub vibe.

The place is in a beautiful setting with a duck pond out front, it wasn't busy when we ordered food but we still had a lengthy wait before it arrived. We had gammon egg and chips and a burger and fries. The gammon was inedible which put me off the booking I was going to make for Sunday lunch. The staff to their credit gave us a 20% discount, but that still made the bill £45, which I thought was a little pricey. Would we go again ? Maybe if we were passing and we fancied a drink.

Lovely place, but sunday menu (or lack of) left us underwhelmed! Portion sizes left a lot to be desired and the beef was just too tough to pallet. The ducks are well worth a visit though

We decided to have our engagement meal here, as it was where we had our first date! It was the most perfect evening. We had access to the function room as soon as they opened to decorate. We were allowed to have anything we wanted (as long as it met health and safety) Zoe and her team were really friendly, relaxed with us and super professional. We had direct contact with Zoe, the manager, throughout the planning, who was so accommodating with meal choices including meat, vegetarian and allergen options. We had 29 people in our party, including 4 children, the food was incredible! Hats off to the chef/team for getting such hot and delicious food out to our table of that many with no errors! The food was endless! Our party was looked after by Charlotte and her colleague, there was nothing they wouldn’t do for us. So attentive and caring. I could not recommend this place enough! 10/10 We will continue to come back here for our anniversaries and in between! We have lots of love the The Rose Inn at Baxterly and their team! Thank you so much xx

Lovely village pub close to Atherstone. Nice beer and the food was excellent. The gammon was very good along with my wife's fish cake. Certainly visit again. Plenty of families who were enjoying the ducks in the pond. Really good find 😊😊

Beautiful country pub, with lovely food. Service was slow last weekend when we popped in for a drink and there was a large queue, but having said this it's never been a problem before and the staff have always been pleasant.

Having eaten today. Pork belly . and Welsh rabbit. . These were £8 each . Ok when the pork came there were four pieces each as big as a postage stamp. The Welsh rabbit or rarebit was a single piece of coated toast as big as two credit cards . Scandalous. This was without question atrocious. The food itself was great . .

We visited this charming, beautiful pub after seeing it on Google maps 😀 On approaching, we could see the pond and the ducks, and we were in awe. Seating outside next to the pond was lovely. We visited on a Tuesday and so should have had a discount on our food and despite reminding the cashier at the till we wasn't given it... £65 for two mains and a couple of drinks each. It wouldn't have been so bad, but the food, although cooked to perfection (compliments to the chef), the portion sizes were so small! Crispy potatoes on my plate were literally smaller than French fry crisps. Wouldn't go back for food but would visit again for a pint next to the pond.

A beautiful location adjoining a large pond in the village centre. The team there were both cheerful and helpful. A group of us enjoyed a pint and then an excellent dinner. As they also served breakfast, we went back the next morning for a proper fry up!

A lovely, good value Sunday lunch. Service was quick and food was nice and hot. A little noisy but that maybe because quite a lot of family's with young children were dining. I would definitely return. Well done! 😊 xx

The pork was cooked nicely and it was tasty but the vegetables were almost raw . the dessert was tasty but the ice cream was the size of a golf ball and the chocolate brownie was barely an inch wide, not very good for £7.50.

Not a good experience I'm afraid, such a lovely place but under staffed on the day i went, food was poor quality (very salty pie's). Sticky tables and floor, When other staff turned up they spent more time flirting with each other in front of the customers rather than looking after them. I remember when the chefs were heard and not seen- they should stick to cooking not flirting. Perhaps better food could be made. Wont go again.

Nice location for eating Al fresco if the weather allows it! Beats most Sunday lunches locally, would recommend the pork.

Gorgeous old pub. Have driven past a few times, but went one afternoon at last for some lunch. Food was amazing (I had the Laksa with chicken, followed by the brownie). Weather was beautiful so we sat outside with all the ducks! (They kept my little 4yr old boy entertained for our entire stay!) The only (small) negative is the benches are very worn and could do with being replaced (but there are so many, I appreciate what it would cost to do that!) Will definitely be going back!

We went for dinner last night. Rang up to ask if they take walk ins we were offered to book for 8pm. The staff were so friendly and gave recommendations on the food. Having this lovely pub on our doorstep is fantastic. I will be recommending The Rose Inn to friends and family. We will be returning very soon

This was our first visit and the food was stunning amazing best food I've tasted in a very long time best food ever tasted in a restaurant will definitely be going back next time we travel here thank you so much the staff very friendly and welcoming

Went on a busy Saturday night and when we were seated we were informed that there was rump steak left which was no problem. What was a problem was that the deficiencies didn’t end there - the portion sizes which were sent out were minuscule compared to what we’ve had previously here. There was obviously a shortage of ingredients and instead of stating that and taking more things off the menu the chef decided to send out half of what what usual for the same price to stretch it out. Dishonest and wrong. Shall not be returning.

Great local pub, the food is always spot on and isnt too expensive

We have been to the Rose a number of times for lunch and the standard of the food and service is consistently high. Yesterday was no exception. The steak and ale pie was one of the best I have had. Elena is amazing- she appeared to be on her own this time getting drinks, taking the orders, serving the food and clearing away all with a smile and a lovely friendly approach. She is so attentive to all and is a real asset to the Rose as are the great chefs.

First time at this lovely little pub -had fabulous service and the food was delicious-hubby had the last piece of nut roast which was a bit on the small side but complimented with deliciously cooked fresh veg and a whopper of a homemade Yorkshire pudding❤️ I had a gorgeous butternut squash curry which would have been nice to have had a naan bread to mop up the delicious sauce I then had the best hot chocolate brownie ever with ice cream We would go again as it was in such a pretty,peaceful spot and because the service was excellent-quick and served with a smile 😊

We were a party of 12, seated in a lovely area of the restaurant, the staff were friendly, and all meals were great! Cooked well, served beautifully, and tasted lovely. Good selection of drinks, hazy pale was lovely. Definitely returning, couldn't fault the place.

A few of us stopped in for a late Sunday Lunch, and we weren't disappointed. Lovely meal, friendly service, decent atmosphere. We ate in the bar, not the restaurant and it was fine! Plenty of parking. Lovely setting by the lake. Will be visiting again!

Very poor been coming hear for years yesterday the food was cold didn’t get a steak knife however a chainsaw would have been more useful, the knifes and Faulks were very dirty, very poor limited menu, and to top it of today we all have bad belly’s Beware

Popped in for breakfast club this morning with the dog pub was lovely and warm and menu had a really good choice of breakfasts all reasonably priced. I had eggs Benedict, eggs were perfectly poached hollandaise was a good consistency and the ham was thick cut with plenty of it! Boyfriend had the large full English option which was a great sized portion with plenty of squares and bacon. Meat tasted like butchers meat and not cheap with good quality sausages and fried bread. We were served by Eleanor who was wonderful and told us about the rest of the menus the pub does. It’s also very dog friendly with a selection of dog treats available. The pub is also located in a stunning setting, a gorgeous duck pond located outside and walks from the doorstep we ended up popping back for a pint after our walk.

Have just come back from a lunch with a friend. The food was amazing and the could not have been more helpful. My first visit, but it definitely will not be my last.

Lovely breakfast we had the full English, eggs Benedict and pancakes and they were delicious. Excellent service we'll definitely return.

What an Amazing Sunday lunch, came here with my partner I have to be honest I used to run pubs and have worked in the kitchens especially on a Sunday This has got to be the best Sunday dinner I’ve had around Tamworth since I moved down here I had the Beef he had the lamb Both fantastic & how they should be cooked (melted in your mouth) Gravy so tasty And the Yorkshires …. As a Yorkshire lass they didn’t disappoint Will definitely be back here !!!

Prawn and smoked salmon starter had the tiniest piece of smoked salmon on it, it was pointless. One piece of bread. I thought it poor for the price. The Sunday main was poor too. Three small pieces of turkey, three roast potatoes and some carrots and broccoli. Yorkie pudd were 1.50 extra and cauli cheese, mash and stuffing 10.00 extra, I’m not a big eater but the mash wasn’t even enough for one and surely turkey should come with stuffing? feel conned to pay extra for a Yorkshire pudding as you are asked if you want one but not that it costs extra. Staff were lovely but we won’t be back
