Only had a couple of drinks, but really impressed with the service and safety measures they had in place. Nice, relaxed atmosphere and large Windows to enable you to watch the world go by.

We were charged £5.30 per pint of Peroni which is day light robbery! No prices advertised so this was a bit of a sting. The chicken in the curry was really hard and tough. Portion sizes small. The only good thing about the food was the kids sausages. Staff were friendly but unfortunately there were dogs who wouldn’t stop barking and yapping throughout which totally spoiled our meal. I know it’s dog friendly but this is unacceptable when spending over £40 on food and drinks. Will definitely not be visiting again!

Fabulous food and drink. Friendly staff and very competitive prices. Highly recommended. Don't be like the rest of the herd and go to wither-spoons.

The white horse is an old looking pub, with beautiful decor inside, I come here usually on a weekly basis is not more than once, and I've never been let down. Staff are all extremely welcoming, beer is good and great pub grub. Nothing to complain about. And they show the footy too.

visited for lunch whilst visiting the town, food was typical pub grub, but decent and plentiful and reasonably priced , Service was very friendly and efficient, and very covid concious

We visited here mainly as it was dog friendly (we have 3 well behaved dogs) and sometimes it can be a bit difficult finding eateries for dogs no matter how well behaved.Staff were all great - very welcoming and friendly - and they administered the Covid precautions extreemly well without the restrictions putting a damper on the meal. Atmosphere was nice and service good - both ourselves and our doggies were very relaxed. Downsides ? May be being a it picky but the burger was.... small. When the menu says double or tripple or whatever you have a mental image of a towering collosus of meattiness - which it wasn't. Nice enough to be fair and the wife was very happy with hers so maybee it was my expectations. However any preceived lack of towering beef mountain was more than made up for by the friendly staff and dog friendly policy.

The Staff were noticeably friendly and helpful. The food - I had the vegetarian curry - was so awful it was inedible. A pleasant pub for a pint - eat elsewhere.

We used the White Horse over a period of 4 nights for evening meal and breakfast all food was very good and excellent value for money traditional breakfast for 2 with toast and coffee cost just £10.46 and our evening meal for 2 with 3 drinks each in the region of £45.00 staff were so efficient and friendly followed all track and trace rules and social distancing was strictly observed would recommend anytime

We visited as a family yesterday lunchtime. On arrival we were shown to our table, we ordered drinks and our dog was given a bowl of water which was lovely. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The service was good the food was nice and very reasonably priced and the atmosphere was welcoming. We are visiting our daughter again during half term hopefully and if so we will definitely pay another visit to The White Horse.

Very average food, almost Wetherspoon like.My partner had “katsu curry” but the curry sauce tasted exactly like mayflower curry sauce (from b&m) which we do love, but would expect more authenticity in restaurant food. I had pie, mash and peas, pretty standard can’t go wrong, except my peas were pretty cold. But my biggest issue is, being that kind of person that looks at a restaurant menu before going and knowing exactly what I’m going to have (But I’ve learned from years of disappointment to have a back up “just in case” they sell out of your first choice), But imagine going into a restaurant at 7.30 pm and your first choice is sold out...but...so is your back up! I don’t know if it’s COVID that’s left them ill prepared but I was gutted to say the least.Most positive thing about this place is the incredibly friendly staff! They were really lovely and gave the place a great vibe so thank you. And the place is really really hot on COVID practices so massive well done, you can’t not feel safe in there!

The first relates to a pre-pandemic era, the second is our experience of the White Horse during a pandemic.Pre-pandemic we were regular visitors to Aberystwyth and the White Horse. We love the warm welcome, friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere and good food. So much so that we have kept returning.So, like many we’ve not been out much of late but an impromptu visit today finds us sitting in the White Horse again. We were a little nervous in the current circumstances but we need not have worried. We were greeted by a lovely young lady who talked us through track and trace and explained what would happen when we got to our table. We ordered and then received our drinks and chatted with a young man about the establishments policy during Covid.To say we felt safe is an understatement. It was reassuring to hear how the management had put Covid secure measures in place to keep both staff and customers safe and that these measures were actively being implemented by the staff. Highly recommend the White Horse at any time, but particularly now. All establishments should operate like this!

Lovely pub with very friendly staff who were attentive and very nice to us and our dog. The hygiene measures were brilliant too. They were regularly cleaning the tables and chairs and had great table service system. The toilets were immaculate too. Would highly recommend.

Popped in on my own. Had covid rules explained to me Beth, very helpful. Once seated. She took my order very promptly, the beer was lovely, and my gammon was brilliant, asked to thank the chef, I think his name was Gareth. Would recommend to friends and family. Defiantly coming back again.

We came here on a Sunday night after wandering around Aberystwyth trying to find somewhere to eat. Its true that aberystwyth are not well places for good places to eat, but this pub is excellent.A really good welcome, we ordered on the app. Unfortunately my burger arrived that was wrong, however the staff were fantastic on putting the issue right. Mistakes do happen, and I accept that, but the true measure of how good the overall experience is, is how well issues are resolved. This was first class, and the approach taken by the manager took this from a 1 star to a 5 star. Outstanding, thank you.The food was okay, the place could do with a refurb, but the staff make this 5 *****.Thanks again to the staff, they are all a credit to this pub.

Staff were great here, the prices were great and could not fault a thing. Staff engaging and it made for a very pleasant afternoon.

We had a couple of really good meals during our stay at Aberystwyth. Food on both occasions was hot, tasty and reasonably priced. Great vegan choices too. The service and managing of social distancing was excellent. Definitely recommend.

We Booked in advance without knowing what it was like. Food was okay but nothing special.We wanted Prosecco but they only had small bottles and after our meal asked for some more but was told they had sold out, so at that stage we left.

The incredible service was a stand-out for me. Taylor was absolutely amazing and efficient in taking my order and checking up on me. They always smiled as they walked past which was validating and made me feel acknowledged even when I had all I needed. The food was gorgeous too, I believe Gaz is to thank there! We had a delicious fish and chip lunch here. We had a very friendly welcome from the hostess, and the Covid19 arrangements were clearly explained to us. The member of staff who served us was very friendly and helpful. Delicious food and excellent care of the Covid19 and social distancing rules.

We had a family meal here as our daughter has just moved to Aberystwyth for Uni, despite all of the restrictions in place due to Covid-19, we felt very at ease and welcome. The service from Taylor was outstanding and Ryan was also incredibly helpful. The food was very good value and certainly hit the spot after a long day travelling. Thank you, we will certainly return

We were so impressed with everything about our visit.We were greeted at the door and Covid rules explained.We watched whilst our table and chairs were thoroughly cleaned.Our server , Taylor was lovely and again I was impressed by the way the hygiene rules were followed. When our burgers arrived they tasted amazing and were really great value .,I believe the chef that evening was call Gappy ...thank you for such wonderful food.!

The staff were lovely and very friendly, food was delicious, one of the best places keeping up to speed with safety precautions, they obviously care about their customers safety.Our server Emily was very kind and polite throughout the whole lunch.Meal for two came down to only around £7 with the 50% on top, both got the double burgers with a pint,the food was filling.Would highly recommend and will be returning again soon! :)

Before entry the young lady very clearly explained the Covid rules and we were taken to our table. Adam our waiter was fantastic getting drinks for all of us including Fudge the dog. The food was delicious and Adam was very friendly and attentive.

As new students we came here for lunch, excellent safety measures, probably the most thorough out of many places I've eaten at. Really nice food, made even better with the Eat Out to Help Out discount. Great service from Karima, she was friendly and nothing was too much to ask for.

Visited in the 7/07/2020 at around 18:00 it was quite and and there wasn’t lost off staff walking around we was asked for a drink orders the second we sat down and then a door order minutes after we walked trough the door, our cokes was both flat and tased watery as if the syrup had gone, I made a comment and one off the 2 cokes was replaced. The food came within 10 minutes off ordering and very disappointing, we ordered 2 chicken tikka switch rice popadom etc with a side order off chips, the Chicken was hard and rubbery and the rice was col the nann and poppadom were both very small.We received no check back at all even tho there was several members off staff walking around but and it wasn’t busy at all. I am a regular at the white horse and I’m very disappointed at the experience I’ve had today. Bit of a dump. There were maybe 30-odd people plus a dj on saturday night.Plenty of drunk people, one of which was being sick just inside the door and was subsequently carried out by a friend.A number of doorman at the entrance on the way in but seemed to be a lack of presence inside.Wouldn't recommend.

We popped in looking for food while the rugby was on, it’s clearly a popular spot for locals and students. We ordered from the food menu, the food was super cheap and arrived really quickly! No complains about the food, really cheap and cheerful! Upgrades to large meals for less than £2 seems to make a massive difference to the normally big meals, would recommend!Moving around to get a better view of the tv screens it’s clear that the furniture has seen better days but it’s not the end of the world. Would return if nearby!

had a meal here on a Sunday night i had a rump steak and it was one of the best i have eaten, my wife had a mixture of food which she enjoyed, both had desserts very nice.the staff whom served us were very good and polite.

Food was terrible I could not cut the beef with a knife let alone chew it. I paid an extra pound to have beef what a waste.My husbands chicken was like encased in wood round the edges it was so overlookedAfter two complaints we left with just a "oh sorry" no asking what was wrong, no possibility of recompence

Our favourite Aber venue for a cooked British breakfast after a walk along the prom. The quality, preparation and service always good and at a fair price. My reason to reduce to a 4 star rating is the poor management decision to remove both mustard and any chilli sauce from the self service condiments table offer. Not worth visiting for this type of cooked meal without the choice of one or both sauces.

I've been coming to this pub for many many years... but as it's now a chain it's in dire need of a refurbishment. I cannot understand why do they expect people to sit on chairs that the upholstery is torn down to a sorry state. Ladies convenience could do with an uplift and sure the mens is the same. This is a classic pub and why have they let it go to such a state..its a shame and hopefully it will be rectified soon. As for the food, I must admit it's been pretty OK for pub food.

The food itself was good, staff were pleasant enough but we walked in expecting it to be a family friendly restaurant and had more of a PUB pub feel - ordering at the bar and noisy students.

We went in the white horse for lunch on Saturday when we were staying in Aberystwyth for the weekend I ordered the fish and chips and my wife ordered the bbq wings sad to say both meals were not very good nice pub but food leaves a lot to be desired.

My husband had fish and chips which was anemic in appearance and totally tasteless. The portion size was tiny thankfully! At £8.49 we expected more.

Not as nice as it was a few years ago. Looks rough and smells bad Drinks arent particularly reasonable either. Asked for a cup of tea and the guy at the bar said they didnt have any milk ???Ummm,there is a Tesco down the road.

Decided to eat here on our night stay in aberystwyth and have to say we really enjoyed our meal, everything from the service we had from a lovely waitress (sorry didn't get your name) but had dark hair up in a bun and a white blouse on, the atmosphere, drinks and food all fab, would definitely recommend this place if you are after good food at a reasonable price

Called in for a meal before heading home. Food arrived quickly but was inedible. The chicken burger was so greasy that when the chicken fillet was squeezed the fat just literally poured out! Meals were lukewarm at best. Won’t be eating here again.

We deconstructed our excellent hamburgers and enjoyed them. Staff were helpful and obliging and we enjoyed a happy evening.

Below the typical fayre for British pub food. Quality average, no TLC for presentation and service. It was not even busy so I dread to think what it would be like during busy times.

Amongst the other breakfast offers there are the traditional and vegetarian basic menus adding up to £6.48 in total. For this the traditional has bacon, sausage, egg, harsh brown, mushrooms, tomato, baked beans and 2 slices of toast with butter. For the vegetarian there are 2 vegetarian sausages, 2 eggs, 2 hash browns, mushrooms, tomato, baked beans and 2 slices of toast with butter.

After a walk south of Aberystwyth on the other customers 😀. Unfortunately I could not have a beer as I was driving back to my campsite.

Exactly what you would expect from a town centre pub serving food , but its decent food well cooked hot and tasty and served quickly and efficiently by pleasent enough staff so you could do a lot worse than this hostelry if in town and hugry.

Staying at Aberystwyth, met up with old friends and called in this establishment for an afternoon meal. Pleasant staff took our order and the meal was served to the table within 5 minutes. All the meals were well cooked and pleasingly presented.

Going for just a drink here and you feel like an inconvenience tables are usually occupied by coffee drinkers on laptops. It's similar to a Wetherspoons and is a bland food orientated pub just like those places.

Yet another badly run, dirty and disorganised food pub. It’s was quite early for lunch but the place was filthy, uncleared tables and food on the floors they were clearly understaffed which just makes for trouble. The food was ok but out of the four of us only one said theirs was worth having, to be honest we’d not go back.

We come here quite regularly with our dog on holiday, as Wetherspoons do not allow dogs. The White Horse also has a specific menu for gluten free dishes (see photo). Some of the chairs are a bit tired and rickety

The White Horse was really busy on the two evenings we visited . The first time we enjoyed a couple of drinks - good selection of beers all at reasonable prices. On the second night . Pie night , we enjoyed pie , mash and peas and a couple of drinks - cost was low , food was fine and the service professional. Getting a table around 1930 was a challenge - everyone in Aberyswyth must have fancied a pie.

The meals are nice here we usually have the sharing platter which is always nice the staff are nice and polite sometimes a little busy the ont thing I would say is I have found the toilets let them down they could be cleaner ( on most the occasions ive been in them )

Walked in a 1.30 ish, reasonably busy but tables covered with dirty crockery. We sat down at a table and eventually a waitress came over and removed the dirty crockery. She did not wipe the table nor clear the mess of food on the floor. We waited for her to return and finish cleaning, she did not, so we gave up and left in disgust.

If you want a cheap and quick bite in Aberystwyth this will do. Don’t expect 3 Star Michelin food , you get what you pay for . The food hit the mark. , but the bar staff and serving staff must have had a long day , it was 8pm and they were miserable .

Stopped here for fish and chips during family visit to Aberystwyth last weekend and was not disappointed. Not only great food at a reasonable price but also pleasant pub atmosphere just a few steps from the promenade. I would come again during my next stay in the town.

We always come here for food when we come to Aberystwyth... Good choice of food on there menu for all ages.. Lovely food and lovely friendly staff that make you feel welcome... We will definitely be coming here again

Dinner with friends and kids. Typical pub menu selections plus a strange emphasis on super-size options. Not much on offer for a healthier meal. Food was fine, just typical pub food, nothing special, a lot of better options very close by.

I visited as a group of students a few months back and I have to say, the steak I had was delicious! Everything was cooked perfectly and I even ate a pudding afterwards! We all very much enjoyed our meals and environment. Will have to visit again in September!

The White Horse is een grote pub, veel tv-schermen, gepraat, kortom een gezellige drukte. Ik nam er de lasagna; deze werd geserveerd met n slaatje en geroosterd brood. Had grote honger dus smaakte wel, was oké, mocht wel ietsje grotere portie zijn, maar anderzijds nu ook niets om echt aan te bevelen. Het personeel was vriendelijk en de wijn goed. Ideaal voor n snelle hap...

A jolly pub with pleasant staff and good ale. Too many TV screens but that's the way it is these days. Accepts dogs which is always a good sign!

We only stopped in for a drink but the food we saw looked good. The staff were just lovely. So friendly and welcoming.

Nipped in as passing, looked at menu and asked girl clearing tables if i could get cheese on my bacon sandwich, yes no problem she says. (as most places do) get to the bar and a man serving was VERY short with us and told us, in no uncertain terms. 'No we only do what it says on the menu!, who told you this? because i will be having words!!!' now ok the staff mite need training better but there was no need for him to make me feel small. Deffo wont be back.

Had another relaxing British cooked breakfast, freshly prepared and perfectly sized portion - so glad that black pudding was not on offer, too tempting. Noticeably, the toast tasted great, strong grill flavour. Ordering and service were fine. This time I surprised myself and had Earl Grey instead of a pint with my breakfast.

Stayed in Aberystwyth for three days in July. The White Horse is a lovely dog friendly pub. Staff are very welcoming. Very similar to a Wetherspoons but with faster service. Lovely food, a good range of real ales and all at reasonable prices.

Loved it here. Plenty of drinks to choose from, friendly staff ... all working hard. Food looked good & even though we didn’t eat here, we should have. Will definitely visit again.

Busy, cheerful, full of kids and dogs - very cheap drinks and I suspect microwave meals, but no proof as we ate elsewhere. No complaints, it fulfills a niche in the market, but I don't think it will be applying for a Michelin star anytime soon.

Excellent experience here. Will sometimes pop in for food after a long work day and it never disappoints. It can get slightly loud at times but that is to be expected past certain times at night. Especially when the tables are moved in the corner to make room for the DJ

First time in aberystwyth staying on marine drive after a long walk around was surprised at the apparent lack of pubs (I appreciate this probably I'd not definitely the case) came across the white horse and was delighted good choice of beers relaxed atmosphere and although we didn't eat the food looked good definitely worth a visit

The White Horse is good if you want pub grub .Can get a bit noisy but we went about 3pm and it wasn't too bad. One benefit is that desserts are 2for1 .

Came here on Saturday as we were in the area staying, glad to say I won't have to go back to this establishment. The tables were absolutely filthy, the chairs all around us were ripped, ordered food and the food was absolutely disgusting!! I like to ask the chef do you think its acceptable putting burnt Southern fried chicken on a plate after us paying good money to eat there? We paid extra £2 to go large but looking at menu we didn't have any extra, chicken bbq was a round burnt thing like a bean burger full of peppers, either the menu is misleading or the chef didn't have the correct products!! In fairness to the manager he did apologise and give a refund, thank you but the refund we deserved as all we could eat was the 7 chips we had. I've had better southern fried chicken from tesco for £3.

I visited Aberystwyth and had a fish and chips lunch in the White Horse. Excellent service in the attractive surrounding of this modernised pub. Thankfully, they left the old windows for future generations to enjoy. Well worth a visit.

What a great pub. The staff were so friendly and worked non stop to keep the pub looking neat and tidy. Service was really good. Dog friendly also. Food very good especially sunday roast. Upstairs room also and the pub was used by all age groups either in groups, single and couples. Sport was shown on 6 tv's plus if required more than one sport can be shown. Fantastic staff keep up your good work and well managed.

Aan de kust is er ‘s maandags zaken genoeg open voor een diner.

This is a great pub near the centre of Aberystwyth which offers a wide selection of food, beers, wines and spirits, all at reasonable prices. On top of that it’s also dog friendly which is a real bonus when you’re the owner of 3 relatively big dogs, namely 2 black labs and a Weimaraner!

Spent a few days in Aberystwyth and had a drink in here most night's. Nice pubs, drinks a good price and the football was on.

Clean, good selection of drinks. Very well priced. Football was on the telly plenty of room, felt safe and welcoming.

Stayed in Aberystwyth for a few days, cheap pint Greene King IPA £1.80,most expensive I had was £4.80 but can't remember what it was with the shock, nice staff and customers ok too.

A little more expensive than the nearby wetherspoons, however much more relaxing. Dogs welcome and friendly staff.

We visited the White Horse on a Friday morning at the end of May (Whit week) and are pleased we did. The breakfast was excellent and very affordable. For just £2.79 you can have a bacon sandwich and a hot drink (Cappuccino, Latte etc) which is a bargain. The breakfast wrap I had was extremely tasty. For just over £14 we had 2 x wraps, 2 x sandwiches (with hot drinks) and a pint of Coke Zero. Would definitely recommend!

Good location near the seafront - large pub with cheap eats but this seems reflected in everything being fried or processed I had a jacket potato which was OK - with no presentation Very little vegan food although they do make a token effort

Good food, nice pub, but far too many tv's all showing same channel. We were there when football was on. Ok for some, but you don't want it no matter wherwe you sit or look.

Called for evening meal and found place very pleasant. Wide choice on menu and prompt and pleasant service. The food was also served hot.

We were made to feel very welcome and the staff made a fuss about the dogs. Beer was excellent quality and we shared a plank platter of 5 starters which was tasty. Hope to try other dishes from the menu over the next few months.

we turned up in amber at 7pm, with 3 hungry children and it was hard to find a restaurant on the sea front happy to serve chilled out family food. We have two 6 year olds and a 9 year old. and we had a yummy meal for 5, with great desserts and a game of pool to finish the meal off. Thank you. Place could be a bit quicker to clear away etc... and tables are sticky and dirty etc... but times are hard, and staff are absent at this sunday night pub: but we had a good time. Thank you.
