Forgive me if I’m wrong but it felt like it was a family ran restaurant. Short walk down from the cottage we were staying in, first impressions from outside and walking in was it was fairly small and meh. That quickly changed, the gent working the front of house was great, there were toys for the little one to play with to keep him preoccupied. We actually booked this the day before and I’m really glad we did as it was full which is usually a good sign. It was, the food was delicious and plentiful, just good old, hearty grub and fairly priced too. Would definitely return if we are down those parts again!

We've been to this restaurant four times on our Cornwall breaks. I can't understand any negative, or even semi-negative reviews - I can only assume those posters have their own 'agendas'. The service, quality AND quantity of food is everything you'd expect from a family run business with their own reputations on the line. The menu prices are very reasonable - hop over to Padstow for comparison ???? See you next time............

We arrived and was greeted by a very enthusiastic and friendly waiter, who clearly loved his job. We ordered starters, main and dessert since the food was so good, everything was cooked to perfection. The place itself is not much to look at from the outside but has some of the best food I have ever the tasted at a restaurant on the inside. In addition, the service was excellent. Amazing, simply amazing.

Arrived for our 3 night stay and very first visit of Cornwall, with the most welcoming owners we’ve come across on our travels. They were friendly, courteous and made the B&B feel more of a home than a hotel. The room was very clean, organised with a good lay out, and the location was superb...just a 5 minute walk to the beach and access to all the nice scenic routes around. We decided to have our Sunday evening meal here, which we decided a 3 course would suit the occasion, we did not regret it and had by far the most enjoyable meal of the whole visit. The breakfast every morning was without fault, morning jokes and great service was on the cards and it started your day with a joyful feeling. We will be visiting here again on our next adventure to Cornwall!

Visited last night, owners could not have been more welcoming. Great family business serving top quality meals. Enjoyed our starters outside as it was a warm night this was no problem at all. Back to the restaurant for mains and enjoyed our deserts outside. Tipsy fruits was superb! Mother in law thought the vegetable tagliatelle was the best she had ever tasted. My sons had curry which they enjoyed and the rump steak was cooked perfectly. We had a super evening and well done to the team. We will hopefully return on our next holiday.

We were staying nearby as a family of 8. My husband and I have visited this restaurant by ourselves and decided to take the whole family this time on Sunday 30th June (Also first time we'd managed everyone in Polzeath since they were children!) Made to feel welcome as always and everyone enjoyed what they chose. My salmon in a lemon sauce was excellent. One of my sons tried the kangaroo steak for the first time and enjoyed it very much. There are many varied starters and desserts to die for! Would thoroughly recommend. Much more a relaxing occasion than the rest of the restaurants nearby.

Chose this because it was so much cheaper than anything else for a one night stay, £95 instead of £180+. First the positives- spotlessly clean and good location. But...very old school, lots of knotty pine DIY and glossy yacht varnish, admonitory notices eg 'only human waste in the toilets', breakfast ok but all very pre-packaged, working men's club carpets, only a 3/4 size double bed. Got the feeling we were messing up the staff's day by being there. Breakfast strictly between 9 and 9.30 am! Result of a lack of choice in Polzeath?

We were staying at a smart hotel in Polzeath, and decided to explore close by for somewhere to eat. This small family run restaurant offered good home cooked food. They went to great attention to accommodate my coeliac husband. Infact, many of the items on the menu were gluten free - including a fruit crumble! Many of the customers were regulars who return year after year. This speaks volumes. We shall return when in this part of the world.

From a very welcoming host who was great with our children making them also feel welcome to the absolutely gorgeous food. Had a really nice meal here with a very friendly waiter. Food was very tasty, just if anything there was a bit too much of it! Portions were huge - my mum's salmon fillet and my sea bass were at least double the size of what you'd expect to get, and our jacket potatoes were enormous. After generous but delicious starters of broccoli and cheese soup and breaded mushrooms, we struggled to finish the main and had to forgoe dessert. So they kind of do themselves out of more money by being so generous as we would have loved to have a pudding if we had room!

Delivering a decent meal to a table of 11 in a small restaurant can be a challenge, but not for this family run business in Polzeath. Attentive service with a very personal touch complimented the lovely food which arrived piping hot and served to individually named diners. We did pre-order but as Paul, Margaret and Jodie (the proprietors) explained, that allowed them to ensure totally fresh ingredients would be delivered to our table and in a timely fashion. They did not disappoint, the meal was excellent and well worth a little thinking ahead on our part.
