My first time at CJ's. Great roast dinner (veggie option for me). Very very generous portions. Attentive friendly staff. Great atmosphere and surroundings. Would definitely recommend. The only issue is accessibility as the toilets are upstairs. The layout of the building also means there are lots of steps and different levels. The entrance is also to the side of the building so there is a slope you need to be able to walk up.

The Sunday roast at CJ’s at The Sanctuary in Falmouth is hands down the best I’ve had in a long time! The meat was perfectly cooked, the Yorkshire puddings were golden and crisp, and the gravy tied everything together beautifully. The portions were generous, and the selection of seasonal veg was spot on. The cozy atmosphere and friendly staff made the experience even better. If you’re in Falmouth on a Sunday, you don’t want to miss this! Highly recommend!

CJ's definitely lives up to its great reviews and reputation. We visited for Sunday lunch and were not disappointed. The servings were very generous with a great selection of veggie sides; cauliflower cheese, red cabbage, carrots, carrot and swede mash, broccoli and parsnips. A jug of gravy was also provided, without even asking for. The ladies that took our order and served were lovely. A massive 10 out of 10 from our family. Price wise, very good indeed. We will definitely be back.

After seeing so many 5 star reviews we had to give CJ’s a go and I have to say we were not disappointed. When we arrived we were greeted by the serving staff who knew who we were immediately due to our booking. They promptly showed us to our table and gave us a free minutes to look at the drinks menu. After returning with our drinks they took our food order; I had the scallops to start and then the pork belly for my main, my wife had the crayfish to start and the large mussels (a starter on the menu) for her main. When the food came out it was all piping hot, so clearly had been served to us as some as it was finished. The scallops with chorizo, garlic butter and parmesan were amazing to the point where I soaked up the left over garlic butter with the foccacia that came with it (this was still warm too); my wife hardly spoke through her starter which means she is enjoying her food so you can assume it was just as good. Then the mains came out……I had seen a couple of others reviews that talked about great portion sizes, well they weren’t kidding, I had so much pork belly and it just melted apart and in my mouth. The apple dressing was beautiful, not too over powering but you could still get the taste of apple in it, the potatoes were perfect as was the broccoli. I struggled to finish it all (I did finish it though) due to the amount of food that was served. Would I recommend….. hell yes!! Well done guys, one of the best restaurants I have ever visited!!

A Memorable Experience at CJ Sanctuary – The Best in Cornwall In early August, my family and I had the absolute pleasure of dining at CJ Sanctuary, without a doubt the best restaurant in Cornwall. From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable, and each dish that came to our table was exceptional. The seafood, in particular, was a standout – fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The warm hospitality extended by the chef added an unexpected and delightful personal touch. Not only was he kind and attentive throughout our meal, but he also took the time to show us his impressive collection of vintage toys, a gesture that my children adored. As a memorable keepsake, he even gifted them a magical pen, a timeless classic from the 80s. Experiences like this are rare and remind us that true hospitality goes beyond just good food; it’s about genuine connections and passion. CJ Sanctuary embodies this spirit perfectly, creating not only delicious meals but unforgettable moments. We can’t wait to return! Matteo

Booked a table at CJ's for an 80th Birthday meal. Having been let down by another restaurant in Falmouth we did some research online (Trip Adviser) to find a replacement and so glad we did! Booked via Facebook messenger as out of hours enquiry / booking, CJ's replied quickly and confirmed our dietary requirements could easily be met with a wide choice of freshly prepared dishes. On arrival there was a banner and balloons set up which were a really nice surprise, a great personal touch! The service was excellent by all staff, the food was really well cooked ranging from Steak to various fish courses and all cooked to perfection. The building really helps to set it out from most restaurants in and around Falmouth and although Its 5 mins out of town, it is well worth the journey. Would certainly book to go back if we stay in Falmouth again, thank you to all the staff for making our evening so special!

A recommendation afforded to us as somewhere to be able to have gluten-free dining. We were not disappointed. Friendly, smiling staff, despite being short-staffed started our visit off wonderfully. The building itself has character, as I believe that it was previously a church, and is also spacious. Large tables for three people or more are available to sit at. The Sanctuary was buzzing with chitter-chatter, but not to the point of being loud. It seems to very popular amongst the local community, and it is definitely something that needs to be booked. As we knew what we wanted, we ordered the roast, only to provided with three options; small (one meat selection), medium (2 meats) and yes, you guessed it, large, which is 3 meats. It comes with a decent-sized Yorkshire pudding and roast spuds. The platter provided had a gravy boat, brimming with gravy made on site, roasted carrots, carrot/swede mixed mash, red cabbage, broccoli, parsnip & cauliflower cheese. And it was quite possibly the best roast dinner outside of the home environment that I've ever had. The staff knew more about dietary restrictions than at any other restaurant I've been to. They didn't just lump an allergen sheet our way, but went through what could and couldn't be done. The chef has a gluten free son, which meant every care had been taken to ensure that foods were made specifically like that. The only downside is a lack of available parking, but that isn't strictly the restaurants fault. Amazing value for money. We finished at around 14:45 and only at 08:30 the next morning am I getting hungry! Definitely give it a look!

We shared mussels and scallops to start and shared sirloin and garlic and chorizo lobster all of which we're truly fantastic and catered for my coeliac partner without any disruption to the quality of the dishes. Slightly dimmer lights and a more evening chill vibe music and we couldn't fault our evening but q suggestion more than a complaint! Attentive and friendly service, can't wait to come back!

What a gem! We went for dinner with our two corgis and was blown away by every aspect of the restaurant. The staff were incredibly friendly and the service was impeccable. Me and my friend have a couple of decades combined in the hospitality industry and we haven’t had service that great in a long time. They all didn’t mind our tired dogs and said hello to them too. The menu had so much to choose from, we went for the Camembert to start which was delicious, hot and gooey. I had the mushroom linguine which was cooked to perfection and my friend had the mussels, which got the French seal of approval. The atmosphere was welcoming and warm, the building is beautiful and the prices are insanely reasonable. In London we would have paid double what we paid here, with no drop in quality at all. If you’re considering going to CJs, don’t think, just go! Plenty of parking too! I can’t recommend it enough :)

What you need to appreciate with this restaurant is the real magic is what is served on the plate. I’m a big foodie and I was nothing short of delighted. Myself and my wife shared the fruits of Cornwall platter with an extra side of bread while my daughters had the crayfish, muscle linguine which is flavoured with Thai spice. My eldest is not a fan of spice and the chef very kindly made a garlic butter cream sauce for her instead. They’re incredibly accommodating and the food is on another level. A bit of an unusual one. If you go on Sunday it’s roasts only and they just tell you the meats. They didn’t tell us what we got with it or give us menus. You have to ask to find out “hidden” items like what options they have for kids. The food was decent enough and reasonably priced. The small roast is not small. The venue is quite odd with a mixture of old memorabilia. I’m not quite sure what they were going for but it almost works.

Such an amazing hidden gem! Really fancied seafood so looked online in Falmouth, and came across CJs. It’s about a 5min drive outside of Falmouth, and off the beaten track for the usual tourist type places. Let me tell you, it’s fantastic. We ordered a fish platter (wasn’t on the menu and not available all of the time due to demand) and shared between 4 people. If you’re going to book a table, see if this is on offer on the day, you might be in luck 🍀 We all agreed it was the best fresh fish we had EVER had. Scallops, Cod, Lobster, Langoustines, Mussels, Clams, Crayfish, Crab, Plaice…cooked to perfection and served with heart. You can tell that CJ puts passion into his dishes. Plentiful food and sides. If you want an authentic Cornish tasting experience, come here- get a taxi if you’re on holiday- seeing is believing. You won’t regret it. I am local, lived here all my life and I will not go into town for fish dishes any more after experiencing this. The only downside is that once you have experienced this, other seafood diners are ruined forever. The wine menu was perfectly paired with the food. Someone has put a lot of thought behind pairing wines with the dishes. All staff were friendly and attentive. Free parking available in the lot or on the road. 10/10 all round. Thank you CJ and we will be back! Also- check out the vintage toy collection near the bar. Very nostalgic 🫶

I've been to this restaurant before but this was the best meal I've had there. The scallops starter was magnificent. For the main course, my wife went for one of the specials dishes, plaice, while I went for a good old burger. My wife loved the plaice, and how it was served. I loved the burger, which was a sensible size, topped with blue cheese (my choice) and some crunchy salad, and it was the best burger I've had in years. On the back or two successful courses we decided to be greedy and had desserts. My wife had an excellent creme brulee while my sticky toffee pudding was to die for. I like high-end restaurants but, quite honestly, this was as good, if not better, than many a Michelin-starred place I've been too. We'll be back in the summer.

A hidden gem. We've actually had several of the amazing takeaway roasts they offer but had never dined in previously. The food was incredible and every dish looked amazing and tasted even better. The head chef took great pride in what was brought to our table by the polite staff and we were so happy with every course. If you haven't been I can't recommend it enough. If you have been you'll know exactly what I mean.

Great, little-known gem of a restaurant with a wonderful well-traveled local chef. I had the 1/2 Lobster with Chorizo and my wife had the Catch of the Day- Ray Fish. Both deliciously and creatively prepared. Scrumptious! And the Sticky Toffe Pudding was borderline sinful. Lastly, the ambience of a retired turn of the century church created quite a scene for a wonderful dining experience. Go check it out!

My wife and I decided to have a meal in the venue whilst on a mini break. Gosh were we gad we did the main courses we had and desserts were absolutely delicious and so reasonable price. If you are in the area I would have no hesitation to recommend that you pay a visit.

Second time we have eaten here and food was exceptional on both occasions. The fish and pea purea is to die for. Great atmosphere, relaxing and the staff are always polite and helpful. Great Chef.

The service and food were fantastic! Restaurant was warm but not hot, waitress was attentive but not overbearing and the food was very very good. Recommend the large (and it is large) mussels and Rump steak.

Ordered Sunday Roast. Extremely poor. Frozen rewarmed veg. Potatoes like bullets. Hard and inedible. Meat was awful, couldn't describe it really. Wasn't fresh joint of beef where meat fell off bone. It was thin with no taste. I have never tasted anything like it

Went here for my birthday with my partner, his mum and a family friend. Had the Sunday lunch which was amazing as always. The plates came out full up with meat, roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. The veg was brought out on a platter for us to help ourselves to. It was all fresh local produce and tasted amazing, massive portions and cooked perfectly. If you want a roast then go here as you won't be disappointed.

Yet another fantastic night with absolutely amazing food. Paul, the chef, is always on hand to make any tweaks to the menu if you prefer something different. Never fails to impress.

Great, affordable place to eat. Sunday lunches are amazing! Lovely staff and friendly quirky atmosphere make this a must-visit bar restaurant. They do takeaway too but I loved it inside this converted chapel which is now a shrine to, amongst other things, Star Wars. The Sunday roasts are super lovely and come with lots of veg and homemade gravy. I could barely finish the basic one-meat option, but you can upgrade to two or three meats if you are brave enough ( veggie option available). Wide selection of local beers also

Had sunday roast, loads of food perfectly cooked. 👏 Service was good. The only slight fly in the ointment was that we had an elderly guest with us so we had specifically asked for an easy to reach table, we were put on the top floor at the farthest end. I guess wires got crossed. I arrived later so could not do anything about it. The small car park across the road was useful

This is going to sound crazy, but they need to reduce the portion sizes and increase the price! I had the roast with my family of 4 and it only came to 60 quid! The vibe is nice, music is good, very clean, very cosy and all the waitresses were nice : )

The stars I've left are based on how I imagine it would have been based on the other reviews! Just leaving this review to say to others to PRE ORDER TAKEAWAYS IF YOU WANT ONE! If we'd been eating in we'd have booked but didn't book anything as didn't realise we'd need to for a takeaway. But we should have as when calling late afternoon/early evening for a takeaway roast we'd missed out. Gutted, but will know for next time. Don't make the same mistake...

Just had a fabulous meal, celebrating my wife's birthday, one of the best we've ever had. The food was freshly cooked, locally sourced, and tasted wonderful. Great value too! Portions were very generous, and the service was excellent. We'll definitely go there again, as we didn't realise there was such an excellent restaurant so close to our home. Many thanks for a wonderful evening guys!

Had to leave the best review I've ever written, the whole process with the amazing lady who bakes these cupcakes from start to finish has been amazing! She baked cupcakes for my friends 30th birthday and delivered them to her address in Mylor Bridge (even with a change of date & time) nothing seemed to be an issue at all. The lady even went out of her way to offer to buy some 30th birthday toppers to include with the cupcakes for the occasion, for a small extra charge of £3 which was more than reasonable. I asked if I could get a choice of 3 cupcake flavours and again this was no problem at all. I choose lemon merguine, white chocolate raspberry & chocolate and let me tell you they were absolutely divine! 100% I reccomend this small little buisness it has been a 10/10 from me and I had to rave about this. Thank you for all your help this has been fantastically amazing!!!
