We stayed in SotW for a friends wedding locally. It appeared everyone had come upto the Cotswolds for wedding that weekends at the White Hart was our 5th attempt at finding a spot for dinner - turns out 5th time lucky it was! We had lovely service throughout dinner, fantastic food in a really lovely dining room. Would strongly recommend, nice selection of drinks and main meals, could well be a lovely spot for dinner for two or small groups as well visiting the area.

Arrived for a booked meal in restaurant. Initial experience was poor. Despite a sign saying wait to be shown to table no one appeared and staff seemed to be hurrying in all directions. So we made our way through to bar and were shown to a table. Then I thought a condescending young man appeared and pointed to card on the table with instructions to order by app saying "have you seen one of these?" Then another person arrived to take drinks order but no mention of app but no wine list either. He went off to print a wine list which was produced. I eventually got a very good glass of wine. Then someone else arrived to take food orders. The food was delicious so much so we also ordered desserts. During the meal we noticed no windows were open and atmosphere began to get rather stifling - not sure this complies with covid where I thought a throughput of air is encouraged. Also tables seemed close together.. Overall impressions were chaotic service but saved by lovely food.

Dropped in for lunch when passing on a cold, wet January Sunday. Glad we did. We sat in the bar in front of a roaring open fire. The ambience was great, the staff were very friendly and efficient, the menu was varied and food was excellent. This is a great pub for just a drink or lunch with welcoming staff and good atmosphere.

Two nights at £120 a night. Room Roe immediately above the bar. Due to wide gaps in the floorboards hear every word said below. I might have as well been in the bar and not desperately tired trying to sleep. Only after the bar had closed and staff had finally finished about 12.30am did it quieten down. However due to paper thin wall I listened to the drunken man in the room next door who had fallen against my door waking me up in the first place snore and snore and snore. This place seems to be owned by hipsters wanting to make a quick buck. I really resent being hoodwinked like this. And the bathroom w as run down broken tiles lumps of grouting missing. It really spoilt my weekend. I was exhausted when I got home after my ‘break’.

popped into the stag for lunch with my wife on our annual Christmas date day/night away. The food was amazing. The mushroom, spinach and hazelnut gnocchi was delicious, but the faggots, mash and peas was out of this world. I was instantly back in my grans kitchen - the faggots were perfect, and the gravy amazing. The food in this place is wonderful, the staff are friendly and there is a great choice of beers. If you are in stow, make sure you stop in, you won’t be disappointed.

Worst hotel experience we have had in the UK. We travelled with a 7 month old baby and the hotel provided a travel cot which identified itself as a playyard rather than a travel cot. The bedding provided by the hotel for the cot was a single duvet flat sheet which was wrapped around the thin mattress multiple times as it was far too large for the cot, the bedding was a suffocation risk for babies. A properly fitted cot sheet should have been provided. We complained and received terrible customer service from the managers and the owner who denied and ignored the health and safety concern. Not family friendly at all - do not stay here with children. This hotel ruined what should have been a lovely family weekend for us. Very expensive hotel and if they do not want families then they should not accept bookings from them.

Note: this restaurant is now called The Stag at Stow. My mother and I wandered in on a Friday evening, and had no trouble getting a table without a reservation. Thank goodness, because it ended up being an incredible meal, and all around wonderful experience. We started with the Grilled Fig, Serrano Ham, Buratta Cheese small plate- amazing! The flavors were terrific and complemented each other wonderfully. For our main, we shared the Grilled Fillet of Bream with green beans, cherry tomatoes, flaked almonds, lemon and dill. What a delightful summer dinner! So fresh and flavorful and beautifully presented. The side of broccoli, walnuts and chili was flavorful, and the side of baby gem, rocket and Parmesan was the only average dish in an otherwise outstanding meal. Without a doubt, save room for dessert! We shared the warm Sticky Toffee Pudding served with hot butterscotch sauce and a dollop of salted caramel ice cream...WOW. We will be talking about this dessert for years to come! One of the best I’ve ever had! Our sever Jay was lovely and attentive. The atmosphere was warm and friendly and the dining room was charmingly decorated.

This restaurant has recently combined with The Stag Lodge to become The Stag at Stow. Yummy x 10! My daughter and I shared the grilled fig, burrata cheese and Serrano ham starter: a delightful combo. We wanted to lick the bowl. Next we shared the flaky grilled filet of bream served over tomatoes and green beans with almonds, lemon and dill. Again the flavors were outstanding. The side of broccoli, walnuts and chili was seasoned well. The side of baby gem, rocket and Parmesan was the only average dish. Wait for it.....OMG! Sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce (both served hot) with a dollop of salted caramel ice cream. One of my favorite desserts ever....and I don’t shy away from desserts. Server Jay was attentive and friendly. The dining room ambience was comfortable and relaxing. We highly recommend this restaurant!

4 of us friends ate at the Stag during a weekend break in Stow. Great ambience, good menu, we each chose a different meal- salad, steak, fish and chicken. All 4 meals were very good. I had a salad, perfect portion size and very tasty. The chap that took our order was friendly, pleasant and professional. The reason why I haven't given 5 stars is because we skipped dessert and asked for a coffee menu, which they didn't have so we just ordered 4 liqueur coffees. When we received the bill we were charged £10 for each. This is extortionate. 3 weeks ago I had a liqueur coffee in a 5 star hotel, it was £6.95. I'd eat here again but wouldn't order coffee!

I contacted the White Hart to ask about the need to make a lunch reservation and was pleased to receive a quick & helpful response. As it was a week day the pub was not busy so we had a choice of sitting in the well decorated dining room or in the beer garden. We chose the latter which was comfortable and pleasant to be able to sit outside. The garden is more of a courtyard and a few more plants would be a welcome addition but it was a nice relaxing atmosphere. A wide & varied menu with good service and friendly staff made lunch enjoyable. We walked in and were the only ones there. I asked the attractive young man behind the bar if the food was good. His response was, "Why wouldn't it be?" I laughed and said well I was looking for a recommendation. This wasn't simple bar food. It was artfully presented and perfectly prepared. I hesitated to cut into my starter of eggs and asparagus it looked so beautiful with a lacy shave of truffle and sprinkle of beet powder. My husband's vegetables on the side of his meat pie could have been placed for a magazine photo. The flavors of everything we ordered matched the appearance.

Superb and delicious options available with a chef who will readily adapt for vegans. Portobello mushroom burger was clearly a huge favourite with any people ordering it when we were there. Friendly and welcoming for dogs, positive staff and super yummy chocolate brownie!!

Well this place was a total treat to stay at, the staff are very friendly and helpful. The place is spotless and the rooms are decorated to the highest standard. The breakfast was very fresh and plentiful ( I had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs and my husband had the full English). If you are ever in Stow-on-the-Wold this is the place to stay. Thank you The White Hart Inn for such a beautiful relaxing stay.

I really do not revell in leaving bad reviews for places where people work hard & try to make a living but this place was pretty bad. The rear dining area was not busy as far as we could make out, the lighting is very dim, the one log on the open fire was doing its best & the ultra strange wallpaper ( dark red with huge deer heads) made it look like a horror film set. The food was no better, I wont go into mega detail but the desert of chocolate brownie with pistacio ice cream had so much sauce on it, it was more like a soup, the main course was no better. After our complaints the manager struck the food off our bill then went & hid somewhere letting the poor barstaff take the flack, so in conclusion i would say avoid this place there are plenty of reasonable places to eat in Stow the foremost looked like The Old Butchers which many locals recommended but we did not actually eat there. Hope this helps travellers.

When with two friends for dinner and had a lovely time . Both had eaten there before and I can definitely say I will go again . Had the Chilli Squid for starters , followed by the Lamb Burger , The squid was nicely seasoned with a nice kick to it and the burger cooked to perfection . For dessert I had the Berry Crumble which was packed with large pieces of fruit ,one of the best crumbles I have had . With drinks each a coffee excellent value for money ,

Visited on the Monday evening after Christmas. It is lovely. Looks small from the outside, in fact it looks as if it is just a room with a bar in it. We went in and asked if they served food and were told yes, and we could sit anywhere, we looked around and the room was full but we were directed down a small corridor and out to the back where there was a lovely large restaurant. Very nicely decorated. The service was prompt and friendly and meals were explained in full detail where required. I had a pasta dish and it was delicious and piping hot. Also the portions were very large. Drinks were served promptly and refills offered throughout the meal. I believe they have taken over the building next door and will soon be expanding. It is right in the centre of town opposite The Stocks, so is an ideal place to stay. We would certainly consider staying here if we return.

We stayed here for Saturday night in January. The owner was very welcoming and took us and our dog to our room on the top foor. It was really pleasant being recently fitted out and decorated. Our evening meal was excellent. The best salt and pepper squid i've tasted and really good burgers and fries. We had a free bottle of wine with our meal as we booked our room direct - worth noting. They also serve a decet pint. We relaxed in the small bar area and the landlord kept topping up the two open fires and kept us comfortable. The staff were really pleasant and made you feel welcome and relaxed. Unfortunately our nights sleep wasn't great - but its no fault of the White Hart - its what you might expect when you are in the centre of a town with people passing by late at night or in the early hours after a night out. Might be worth them looking at a layer of internal glazing to try and provide some sound proofing.

My GF and I stopped into the White Hart for lunch on a recent visit to Stow-on-the-Wold. We were shown to a table in the 'back bar' and were quickly seen to with drinks and food orders taken.

Eat here on our 2 day stay in Stow. Friendly greeting by all three staff working front of house, let us choose table to sit. Did not fancy a starter so we had breads, oil & balsamic while waiting for our mains of Pork tenderloin and Game pie. Both these dishes were cooked to perfection and extremely tasty. I followed this with a fig panacotta which was absolutely mouth watering and my husband had berry and apple crumble with a delicious creamy custard. All food was served by friendly staff who took time out to talk to us and the food was very well presented and hot. A definite recommendation from us, we will be back as only live an hour away.

This pub and restaurant is perfect. We went there for a couple of drinks and sat in the back bar and it was so festive and cosy. Everyone was so friendly.

A decent hot chocolate and a sweet man behind the counter, but the individual chocolates are not made on site and are overpriced.

A lovely tea shop on the High St. I sat outside the front on the limited pavement seating. The staff were lovely and the food well presented. The pasty was though expensive and there was no wow factor. The ice bun was heavy and sticky. The coffee was delicious. Would return but not spend so much.

A most excellent lunch served by incredibly polite and lovely staff. I so enjoyed the food and was mightily impressed with the lovely team Ionela, the manager, who could not do more to make one welcome and Ciaron, Antonina and Safiya all of whom was just so professional, polite and helpful. Absolutely faultless. My thanks to all. Excellent.

Nearly broke my tooth on a cherry stone in the bakewell slice, very expensive compared to other local tea rooms and staff looked scruffy.

Might be nice as a restaurant, but wasn't a good choice for drinks with friends - no beer or cider available on tap. Wine available was far more expensive than it is worth. 'Shop' also very much exploiting the fact it has monopoly on site. £8 for a small box of cereal and some milk. On a positive note, the atmosphere and decor is nice.
