It is an inn attached to a pub, so you certainly cannot expect to find hotel services. The room where I stayed with my sister is nice and welcoming. The sink only dispenses cold or lukewarm water but it wasn't much of a problem. The highlight of The Bell is the warm and spontaneous welcome received by John, Carrie and Jack. They were very kind and hospitable and catered to our needs. I felt at home for the short time I was in Moreton-in-Marsh and I hope to return soon with my husband and our little dog.

We were originally booked in for February 2022 but due to health reasons had to change the date. The requested date to change to had no rooms left at the rate we originally paid - but all credit to the Bell management - we got a room upgrade at no extra cost - now that is customer service unlike the Premier Inn I'm stuck in tonight......Friendly staff and management plus the pub dog (aka door mat). Nice atmosphere with a mix of locals and tourists. We didn't eat in the evenings but had a few reasonably priced drinks and a nice breakfast.Rooms were clean & tidy and reasonably well eqipped -- my only slightly negative comment is that the bedroom that we had could probably do with a bit of a refresh. Not tatty or anything like that - just a little tired - but then it is also a grade II listed building.Loved our stay Thanks again - publically.....

Stayed here yesterday for one night and what a fabulous place it is. Have visited the pub before and always enjoyed it but never stayed over. The room was lovely - out the back and on the ground floor, shower was great. Good supply of toiletries and tea/coffees. Breakfast this morning was excellent, timely and great quality. The owner was very friendly (as were the staff) and nothing was too much trouble. Will DEF stay here again and wholly recommend the place.

We went for a drink on a summers evening and to see if we would like to come for food another time. Unfortunately the courtyard had so many wasps we didn't enjoy our drink and so didn't return. With the current outdoor eating only restrictions we thought The Bell had it all organised with covered outdoor seating through the back so as we were staying close by we thought we would give it a try. Stood at the entrance where the sign indicated to wait to be seated. Waited ages. Saw a couple of staff who spotted us but nobody came over. Eventually was approached, won’t say greeted because it was really a greeting, we asked if there was a table and was told there was but we couldn’t order food for half an hour. We agreed and were taken to a table which was nice. I went to find the toilet which was in use so I waited quite a while. When I got back to the table my husband hadn’t even been able to order a drink. At that point we decided the service was a let down and left to go to the Redesdale Inn along the high street. Excellent food and service in there. Ironically we saw a group of people arrive after us who previously had been in the Bell Inn. I asked them if they had just come from there and they told me they had but had left because their drinks order had been wrong three times so they also left. The Bell are missing a trick here. They are all set up for outdoor dining but don’t have enough staff or a warm welcome. Would not recommend.

We found ourselves sheltering in the doorway with our two young children during Storm Dennis while looking for a place to eat. We noticed the Tolkein plaque and the idea of eating in the Prancing Pony seemed like an opportunity to be embraced! Inside was a warm and cosy environment - dog friendly - and the staff were welcoming and helpful. The food was good quality, well cooked and well presented. We had the venison burger and bacon and cheese burger. Although we didn't see a kids' menu, staff offered to provide child portions. The kids - 4 and 2 - were happy (although to be honest, their level of happiness is directly proportional to the amount of mayonnaise available in which to dip their chips). The map of Middle Earth was an interesting talking point and a good opportunity for us to introduce our eldest to The Hobbit, a copy of which we then found for her in the bookshop over the road. Overall, this was a memorable and pleasant meal we all enjoyed. Thanks to the staff.

We stayed here in April for the weekend and we were not disappointed - we booked a King Size room and were put in No1 - the room was a good size with a high ceiling and wooden beams, the room was well presented, very clean, with an en-suit bathroom including a walk in shower, tea and coffee making facilities and the bed was extremely comfortable. We had both breakfast and evening meals and the food was delicious on all three occasions, the cooked breakfast is a must, along with cereals, yoghurt, juice and toast - there is plenty on the menu for everyone and will set you up for the day. The evening menu was just as tasty with something for everyone, be sure to book as it does get busy for food in the evenings. All the staff are friendly and very helpful and we were always served first at the bar in the evenings - we ran a tab over the weekend and settled up before we left, which was great. The bar is a nice size with live music on some of the weekends which an added bonus, you are on the main high street, so all of the little boutique shops and cafe's are just a walk away, there is a lovely ice cream parlour across the road in a small little mall - it has lots of different flavours and sweets and fudge for the people back at home. This is a great place to base yourself if you're in the area for any length of time, I can not rate this Inn enough and we will be returning.

Today my good lady and I went visiting the Cotswolds. Lunchtime found us in Moreton-in-Marsh. We fancied a light lunch so we went into The Bell Inn at 2.25pm. The menu is very basic, roughly four pub food type mains and four sandwiches. We chose the cheese and pickle sandwich and the wild crayfish sandwich. These were £6.75 each, a not insignificant price for a sandwich. They arrived about ten minutes later. We had chosen brown bread, it was a sort of granary bread. The bread wasn't fresh this morning, I doubt it was fresh yesterday. I would guess that it was at least three days old. It was rather stale. In hindsight we should have sent them back but like a lot of people we put up and shut up. I ate the entire sandwich, my partner didn't eat the crusts which she felt were inedible. When the waitress came to clear our table she asked whether everything was alright. I said that the bread was rather stale. I suggested that if you're going to charge almost £7 for a sandwich the bread should be fresh daily. "I'll tell the chef" she replied. "They've got a chef?" I thought. We remained in the pub for a further ten minutes finishing our drinks and discussing where we were going to visit. No one returned to speak to us - no manager, no waitress, no "chef". There was no form of apology, no explanation, no mitigation. What a poor effort, if you can't get a fresh sandwich right there isn't much hope. Well done Bell, you took £18 today but gained a very poor review. Poor business. If the wild crayfish could see the two pieces of bread that it lost its life to occupy it would be even more wild.

None of the real ales were ready to be served. The service was slow. We had intended eating here but another couple had been waiting so long for their food that we changed our minds.

We visited this establishment several times, this was the inspiration for JR Tolkien pub the Prancing Pony in the Lord of the Rings. You can understand when having a drink in the old coach yard. Good local beers, very dog friendly and comfortable surroundings and friendly bar staff. Limited menu only down side

We've tried several places in Moreton in Marsh for fish n chips and most, if not all, have been excellent with nice big chunks of fish and special sauces and, of course, smashed peas. I'm not sure why, but the food here was mediocre. The fish portion was large but the batter wasn't tasty and the peas had a strange flavoring - may be just their style?

We stayed at the Bell for 7 days and managed some wonderful day trips - small group tours, bus and train to Bourton and Blenheim Palace. Good old historic pub ; rooms small but comfortable ; food was typical pub grub but well presented and above average ; staff were all young and friendly and knew what they were doing and the house dog was just a loll about inquisitor and everyone's friend. Recommended for excellent value, location and atmosphere - we'd go back tomorrow given the opportunity.

The atmosphere and ambiance were just what I expected in this quaint, historic inn. We had a lovely dinner there, service was friendly and good. We were enjoying the live band very much when a group of local men got so rowdy that they smashed a bystander into the band, causing them to have to stop to clean their equipment, etc. The group of men chanted, "We do what we want!" and the management completely ignored them. I hope this was a one time event, but it was our only time there and it cut the night short for us. Except for this event, I would have given it 5+ stars!!

Called in the Bell Inn for a quick drink and my husband and I decided to sit in the garden area as the weather was beautiful. However, it was really depressing. The lawns all wanted cutting and everywhere looked very shabby. The prices weren't cheap either so if you are paying the full price you want everything up to scratch. How they can let their customers sit in the garden area looking like it did, we'll never understand. We drank up fairly quick as decided to leave and won't be going back there again. No effort for the customers in any area.

After a struggle to pass the huge white dog laid in the doorway(and he was very nice too!)we entered a very quiet pub at 1 pm today. There is a small dining area to the right as we entered and a larger room behind the bar which was full of lunchtime diners. We looked at the menu and although it was decent, nothing appealed to us both.We had drinks instead, staff were very pleasant and the few gentlemen that frequented the bar were chatty too.Parking is available out on the High street and was very hit and miss...there are several parking spaces in the centre of the High Street too.A decent little cozy pub.Visited 3rd April 2017

Visited a number of times over a long weekend. Its one of the few 'proper pubs' in the town, as opposed the expensive hotel bars. Always had a very warm welcome from the staff and landlord, who we found particularly accommodating. Lovely clean, comfortable & cosy surroundings and dogs welcome. Good live music on a Saturday night, and a reasonably priced varied menu that caters for most tastes well. Lovely, comfortable place to relax, and be social with friends.
