Bell in Cotswold

Went to this pub due to it being the inspiration for the prancing pony. Enjoyed the ambience of the pub and the service that much we have booked a stay for the new year

Popped in after my long walk around the area.. It's a nice pub. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the drinks were good. Dog friendly with treats on the bar, well worth stopping at if you're in the area.

Myself and my friend dropped in for a drink and decided to stay for food . What a great decision we made ! We had the beautifully tender and flavoursome steak pie sat in a relaxed atmosphere with such a great host in Adam who was such an interesting youngman to converse with making us feel so welcome ! We highly recommend trying out the food and the great service !

My sister & I are so glad we stayed at The Bell Inn in mid September. We are 70-ish ladies so location & walkability are key. The Inn was easy walking distance from the direct train we took from Oxford. We were early for check in but were able to leave bags while we walked around a bit. When our room was ready our bags had already been taken to our room which was spacious, comfortable & charming with rustic beams but modern shower room. Included in the room rate was a filling made-to-order breakfast each day. We also had several other delicious meals. The TI office was very helpful in giving us info about getting from the Inn to catch local busses to Stow-in-the-Wold, Chipping Camden, Bourton on the Water & Stratford upon Avon (all of which I highly recommend visiting) for just £2 each way. On our final day, we explored Moreton-in-Marsh & took advantage of market day right outside our door. The entire staff was gracious and accommodating. I highly recommend The Bell Inn.

Really excellent inn. Rooms had everything we needed. Breakfast was delicious. Staff attentive & very helpful. Great guitarist playing live on Saturday night made it a truly memorable stay. Highly recommended!

We stayed one night; it is very convenient for Longborough opera. Large and comfortable room. Friendly welcome. Availability of unusual old books. Excellent breakfast.

Gals behind the bar were clueless. Repeatedly dunked water nozzle into each glass of water! Disgusting. We were served a half full bowl of thin watery tomato soup for $9! Terrible kitchen! Full of seeds and tomato skins! If more than two people at bar, staff became flustered. Avoid this place!!

What a great pub! We had the pleasure of staying for 2 nights as we were in the area for a family wedding. Our room was stylish and very clean. The beds were comfortable and we had good ensuite facilities. The breakfast deserves a special mention because it was absolutely delicious, freshly cooked using great local ingredients. The staff are warm and friendly. We highly recommend this great place and will definitely return!

The Bell was a good choice for lunch. Do not be put off by its relatively modest looks. Compared to many pubs and Inns you will find in Moreton or other historic villages in the Cotswolds' heartlands, you might say it is undistinguished. Whilst the building is attractive and the interior pleasant and clean, do not expect the porticos, grand oak-panelled halls and flag-stoned foyers you might find in more upscale competitors down the High Street. But this is a good, honest local pub and, I suspect, attracts more locals and fewer tourists. It was deathly quiet at noon, when we arrived but, as more people turned up to eat lunch, the atmosphere was lifted so that, added to the friendly, efficient service the place began to seem much more convivial. The Bell has a small lunch menu of pub standards like curry, scampi, lasagne etc. and the prices were extremely reasonable. I had egg, chips and ham. That might seem very basic but, even in a meal of that kind, a world of difference can be achieved by good preparation and quality of ingredients. In this case, all three elements were spot-on and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Taking into account the generous proportions of the meal and the unusually low price it was an excellent lunch overall. So, I guess it depends upon what you're after on any given day - somewhere that looks amazing and serves sophisticated meals at elevated prices or a friendly, unpretentious place that serves good-value, plain, tasty, filling meals. If the latter, I highly recommend The Bell.

Dropped in for a bite to eat at lunch time with partner and our dogs; very welcoming, lovely staff and dog friendly! Menu was very resonantly priced and the food was delicious. We will be back!

Quite literally the WORST pizza I have ever had in a restaurant in my life. The place was nice and clean, service was a little slow, but those barrel and stone pizzas were abhorrent. I'm unsure if the pub outsources the making of the pizzas but my god they need to switch suppliers. You get better pizza in Asda discount sections. 2*£16 totally wasted. I was actually gutted because of the cool history of the place. Decor on the other hand was really cool.

went in to watch a 70's live band it was such a good night, very friendly pub.

Excellent service very accommodating friendly staff, great public house, gem of a court yard surrounded by the outbuildings and main building, giving a relaxing atmosphere with scented flowers and shrubs, climbing the pergola, sun trap area to enjoy a quiet drink and food,great facilities, hotel rooms, Lovely traditional pub with a great menu..large selection of beverages..fruits juice, beer, spirits, drink on tap etc..coffee ..plus much more.. Highly recommended a visit..

Stopped in for Sunday Roast while on holiday and we were not disappointed. I was able to order the last beef and my wife ordered the chicken. Both came with veg, roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese, Yorkshire pudding, and delicious gravy. For £18.95 each, we left completely stuffed, with food remaining on our plates as we were unable to finish everything. Would come again.

We came because we are LOR fans and we were visiting the Cotswolds. We didn’t stay here, but we had lunch. The fish-n-chips was good, carrot soup was also very good and the baked Brie was delicious. You have to order your food at the bar and on Sundays there is a limited menu.

I had a great stay at The Bell. The room was lovely and the bed comfy. The breakfast was good and the staff very friendly.

Great beer and lovely atmosphere. The pub dog is gorgeous 🙂

Wonderful B&B in the central area of the Cotswalds. Pleasant atmosphere, great service, and reasonably priced. The landlords are very friendly with site suggestions and they even have an in pub dog named Finlay who is always happy to see you each morning.

Called in for a drink during a visit to the area. The pub was lovely inside and out with friendly staff. We didn't stay or eat so can't comment on that. The Bell has a lovely area out the back to sit and enjoy the area and the weather.

Dropped in here for an evening meal, sadly after ordering our drinks we we told no food was available that night. Staff were not that friendly and seemed more intend on pleasing te locals instead of everyone. Wouldn't visit here again as there are much nicer pubs and eateries in Moreton.

Had a lovely meal here only a short cab ride from where we were staying in Blockley. Booking in advance recommended as the popularity of this place speaks volumes. Highly recommended we will return

Good food and drinks and get atmosphere

It is an inn attached to a pub, so you certainly cannot expect to find hotel services. The room where I stayed with my sister is nice and welcoming. The sink only dispenses cold or lukewarm water but it wasn't much of a problem. The highlight of The Bell is the warm and spontaneous welcome received by John, Carrie and Jack. They were very kind and hospitable and catered to our needs. I felt at home for the short time I was in Moreton-in-Marsh and I hope to return soon with my husband and our little dog.

Great cask ales and a splendid pub dog. A big friendly thing who appreciates a pat on the head.

We spent a lovely couple of nights at The Bell and had a delightful time. Jack welcomed us and showed us to our room, which was nicely appointed and cleaned. Breakfast was terrific and our host was charming. The pub had some great ales on tap and everyone on staff was gracious and fun to chat with. I particularly noticed the high quality of the towels. Very soft, plush, and hadn't been over-laundered. A great find in MiM!

Just popped in for a few pints with friends while passing through M in M, all good, nice pint, friendly staff and they do CAMRA discount. The Porter ale is Christmas in a glass.

On our way back from the South, we wanted a meal in Moreton, so we (my wife and 2 daughters) tried to find a restaurant that we could at eat in. Many places were either full or closed, and so we were happy to get a seat here. From what I remember (Feb 22 - sorry), it was a lovely pub. Staff were very friendly and food, although took a while to get out, was very good. It is dimly lit, but there's just enough light to enjoy. If you go you'll get a good meal and many of the locals enjoy this pub.

The inspiration for the Prancing Pony of LOTR, this coaching inn was a wonderful stay! The room was awesome and well-appointed, the breakfast was delicious, and the service was superior. What a fantastic stay. We stayed at the end of a drive through the Cotswolds, and it was a great ending point for the day, as well as an excellent jumping off point for the next day's visit to Stratford. Really happy we stayed here!

We stayed at the Bell for 4 nights. The staff were great. John is very attentive- he got oat milk & vegan sausages for us. “The Peas” played in the pub the weekend we were there which was quite fun

Celebrating our wedding anniversary in the Cotswolds. John the landlord and the staff have been amazing. We are staying in the Hayloft and the pictures are of our accommodation and the back garden. Just a perfect weekend with great hospitality.

We called in for a drink & ended up having one of the best Sundsy lunches in a long time. The food was lovely & the staff were friendly. Recommend a visit in the area.

Stopped off at lunch time for some drinks. Nice choice of beers, welcoming staff and a relaxed atmosphere. We'll worth a visit.

27th December. Published closing time 23.00. It’s right there in the window. Turn up at 22.15 and the door’s closed. There’s a few people still in there, Jack’s behind the bar chatting to a mate. I live in Moreton, drink in the Bell 2 or 3 times a week, just got back off the train, I’ll have a nightcap. But no, despite opening the door 45 minutes before the published closing time, Jack tells me no. Welcome to Middle Earth

A lovely old coaching inn at the heart of the town. A good selection of well kept beers and a nice courtyard to sit out in - recommended.

We were originally booked in for February 2022 but due to health reasons had to change the date. The requested date to change to had no rooms left at the rate we originally paid - but all credit to the Bell management - we got a room upgrade at no extra cost - now that is customer service unlike the Premier Inn I'm stuck in tonight...... Friendly staff and management plus the pub dog (aka door mat). Nice atmosphere with a mix of locals and tourists. We didn't eat in the evenings but had a few reasonably priced drinks and a nice breakfast. Rooms were clean & tidy and reasonably well eqipped -- my only slightly negative comment is that the bedroom that we had could probably do with a bit of a refresh. Not tatty or anything like that - just a little tired - but then it is also a grade II listed building. Loved our stay Thanks again - publically.....

Stayed here yesterday for one night and what a fabulous place it is. Have visited the pub before and always enjoyed it but never stayed over. The room was lovely - out the back and on the ground floor, shower was great. Good supply of toiletries and tea/coffees. Breakfast this morning was excellent, timely and great quality. The owner was very friendly (as were the staff) and nothing was too much trouble. Will DEF stay here again and wholly recommend the place.

I was passing through Moreton and was gasping for a quenching drink! The Bell Inn did the trick. A lovely Inn , full of character and charming staff. I took my drink outside and enjoyed it in their courtyard, so relaxing!

We went for a drink on a summers evening and to see if we would like to come for food another time. Unfortunately the courtyard had so many wasps we didn't enjoy our drink and so didn't return. There were gazebos up in the courtyard which would provide some protection against rain. Baby changing table was good and accessible from the garden.

Two hungry visitors , staying at the local Caravan Club Site, came upon the Bell Inn and came into the courtyard to enquire what vegetarian options were on the menu. Greeted by a lovely staff member who showed me where to park my Mobility scooter, and we came inside to eat. The food was fresh and tasty and the staff attentive and helpful. Could find no faults at all!

With the current outdoor eating only restrictions we thought The Bell had it all organised with covered outdoor seating through the back so as we were staying close by we thought we would give it a try. Stood at the entrance where the sign indicated to wait to be seated. Waited ages. Saw a couple of staff who spotted us but nobody came over. Eventually was approached, won’t say greeted because it was really a greeting, we asked if there was a table and was told there was but we couldn’t order food for half an hour. We agreed and were taken to a table which was nice. I went to find the toilet which was in use so I waited quite a while. When I got back to the table my husband hadn’t even been able to order a drink. At that point we decided the service was a let down and left to go to the Redesdale Inn along the high street. Excellent food and service in there. Ironically we saw a group of people arrive after us who previously had been in the Bell Inn. I asked them if they had just come from there and they told me they had but had left because their drinks order had been wrong three times so they also left. The Bell are missing a trick here. They are all set up for outdoor dining but don’t have enough staff or a warm welcome. Would not recommend.

Rude staff and landlord !!Long wait til being served lemonade flat not a single bubble but the landlord argued it was fine and they had sold gallons!!Toilets need desperate attention toilet seats all scratched and push buttons broken.Guy on next table had to send the cider back would not recommend visiting The Bell there are lots of nicer pubs in Moreton in March that welcome customers!!

Cottage pie home cooked and nice. Landlord knowledgeable about the beers on offer and a good COVID policy. Would recommend

We called in for a late lunch on Thursday, and had a very warm welcome. Felt very safe as various measures were in place for social distancing. We both had sandwiches (far bigger than we expected) served with fires or salad, freshly prepared and very tasty and filling. Really nice people there to look after you. Thanks. we will be back when we return to the area.

No como los robots, que experimentamos muy recientemente.Era una tarde fría de agosto, encendimos la calefacción y la habitación pronto se calentó. Dormí bien. El único inconveniente es que no está insonorizado, tenga cuidado con que puede escuchar sobre usted si tiene una habitación en la planta baja.El desayuno estuvo bueno. Nos sirvieron cafés muy buenos de la máquina de café. En general, una estancia agradable en un fin de semana festivo ajetreado.

Visitamos el Bell Inn para almorzar, pedimos chile y papas fritas y pescado y papas fritas rebozados con cerveza después de 45 minutos llegaron las comidas, el chile estaba bien pero el pescado del pescado y las papas fritas, no pudimos atravesarlo con un cuchillo, así que nos quejamos y después de otros 20 minutos de espera, el pescado y las patatas fritas no era genial, pero era comestible. Hay mucho personal, pero parece que no hay acción.

Nice pub with great beer garden. Landlord unfriendly staff nice but rushed off their feet. Impossible to order a drink in under 30 mins. Didn’t eat but neither were most customers. Shame could be really nice.

O eso o somos invisibles porque somos de mediana edad. Me senté en el patio cuando les dijeron comprensiblemente que iban a salir a tomar pedidos en las mesas, aunque 2 lugareños se sentaron en el bar y se sirvieron en el bar. Esperamos más de 20 minutos, a 3 mesas que ya estaban bebiendo se les preguntó si querían otra bebida y la gota que colmó el vaso fue que el camarero se inclinó alrededor de nuestra mesa para preguntar a 2 muchachos jóvenes si querían otra. Y este fue el mismo camarero que nos pidió que nos sentáramos en una mesa y esperáramos a que nos sirvieran. No solo un mal servicio, sino que realmente me sentí un poco insultante. Nos marchamos porque sentimos que no querían nuestro tipo de gente en su pub. ¡Y realmente somos personas bastante normales, honestamente!

Tarde agradable para una copa de vino y una pinta en el jardín. Aunque usar vasos de plástico para el vino estropeó el sabor. Al salir preguntamos si había política para limpiar los muebles después de que la gente se fuera, y nos informaron que sí. Estuvimos allí de 30 a 45 minutos durante los cuales no se limpió una mesa a pesar de que se quitaron los recipientes de plástico vacíos. En las circunstancias actuales, no pensamos que esta sea una buena práctica.

We found ourselves sheltering in the doorway with our two young children during Storm Dennis while looking for a place to eat. We noticed the Tolkein plaque and the idea of eating in the Prancing Pony seemed like an opportunity to be embraced! Inside was a warm and cosy environment - dog friendly - and the staff were welcoming and helpful. The food was good quality, well cooked and well presented. We had the venison burger and bacon and cheese burger. Although we didn't see a kids' menu, staff offered to provide child portions. The kids - 4 and 2 - were happy (although to be honest, their level of happiness is directly proportional to the amount of mayonnaise available in which to dip their chips). The map of Middle Earth was an interesting talking point and a good opportunity for us to introduce our eldest to The Hobbit, a copy of which we then found for her in the bookshop over the road. Overall, this was a memorable and pleasant meal we all enjoyed. Thanks to the staff.

We visited the Bell twice over the weekend. The choice of ales was good, and they were well kept. Liked the association with Tolkien and the big Lord of the rings map on the wall. The rest of the decor was confusing, with odd bric a brac, some outside furniture inside, and a certain lack of love for the place. Great building with great potential.

Was a quaint pub now all mirrors, chrome, and burgers we stoped in our first night as we had stayed there 14 and 30 years ago for a pub meal no such luck

Having been for Sunday Lunch, we popped in for a sandwich and a drink next time to passed by. Food was brilliant, served by cheerful friendly staff, in comfortable surroundings. Excellent value for money, definitely recommended.

Stayed Friday and Saturday evening in a kingsize room. Excellent made very welcome by the landlord and his team. Super freshly cooked breakfast thankyou . The Massey's.

Went there this October after a day of touring the Cotswolds. Great pub! The staff was very friendly and welcoming.Nice quaint, cozy and relaxing atmosphere and the fish and chips and beers were great! Susan E.

We visited quite late in the evening, mid-week, and there was a decent atmosphere. Good to have a selection of real / craft ales other than the usuals purveyed by chain pubs.

We called in here on a very wet day - met by pleasant staff - great beer and glorious food. We had sandwiches which were excellent and not over priced.

Great meal, super tasty and well presented. Live music as well on a Saturday night for entertainment. Nice cosy seating arrangement. Allowed us to keep a tab and pay at the end, perfect. Avoid the Carling though.

Had a few hours in Moreton-in-Marsh and had a mini crawl. Well two pubs The Inn in the Marsh and this one. Reviewed the former in the usual persona so please have a geez of that if you have the inclination and time.

We wanted to have a nice Sunday lunch and The Bell Inn fit the bill. My husband proclaimed the Roast pork delicious and my fish & chips were excellent. We also enjoyed the atmosphere and antics of the landlord’s dog, a friendly labradoodle. We had stopped at the Black Bear pub across the road, and while I can’t comment on the food, the atmosphere was rather boisterous and didn’t have that cozy ambiance we were seeking.

A draught Mild on tap which is extremely rare, Moreton Cotswold Mild, very tasty.... Very friendly staff and very comfortable seating....

Despite not being far away I have never been to M-I-M, so on an sunny leave day. I decided to take a train trip.

Having driven through here a number of times we decided to stay a night so that we could visit the market. We stayed in the Hay loft which is a spacious and well equipped room with a very comfortable bed. We were greeted by cheerful and friendly staff. As they do not serve food on Mondays we ate elsewhere and returned to the Inn for a last drink at 22.10. On entering the bar the barman asked us if we were staying there. As we had said yes we were surprised to be told that the bar was closed! Breakfast was lovely and again the staff were friendly and pleasant. Although the attitude of the barman put a dampener on what was a very pleasant stay we would stay there again. Parking is on street outside but don’t get blocked in on market day.

The Bell Inn had great food, a wide selection of beers on tap, and a fun local ambiance. The back patio had my heart.

We stopped in at The Bell on our way through Moreton. It was our first visit but won’t be our last. Food was good value for money, the courtyard and beer gardens were excellent on a sunny day like today and the staff were so friendly!

Had a lovely pint in the bell inn at the end of a long adventure. Alongside me was bilbo baggins and gandalf smoking on his pipe (only wizards are allowed to do this in the pub). We talked of tales of dragons and goblins. What a lovely evening to be recommended to all....

We stayed here over the bank holiday weekend and had room 2 which was beautiful. Lovely room, lovely breakfast, super service the whole time we were there

Came at 5.30 with friends we had to step over an adorable giant poodle sitting in the doorway he was not going to move, obviously a dog friendly pub, although there were 6 of us the staff are friendly and soon found us a table, the beer and food was good, I had gammon which was of a good portion, all in all well worth a visit

Une visite en journée, pour un casse-croûte au soleil dans la cour, nous a permis d’apprécier la gentillesse du maître d’hôtel, que ce soit pour le service ou pour l’assiette, au demeurant délicieuse (Fish and chip de haddock sans défaut, hamburger très convenable).

I thought there were excellent beers on tap and I was impressed with the quality of the food. The Bell Inn is under relatively new ownership and it is a shame that old reviews from times gone by are still here. Well done to the current owner who is passionate and clearly determined to make the pub a success. Very noticeable improvements and like many former customers I have returned.

This is a likely and welcoming pub, which is open for children and dogs - so very family friendly.

4 of us went for a meal when they had a live band called Good Intent.

We were staying nearby for a week, and the Bell Inn became our favourite haunt. My OH enjoyed the beer, particularly Prescott’s Hill Climb. Our one and only meal was simple pub grub, no grumbles at all, it was tasty, filling and was just what we wanted. The staff were friendly and attentive. We also enjoyed the connection to the Lord of the Rings. We will definitely be going back next time we are in the area.

This was our first stay in a pub! The rooms are actually in another building behind the pub, so there was no late night pub noise. The room was lovely, quaint, spacious and comfortable. The included breakfast was cooked to order and very good. The staff were very friendly and helpful. And staying in the pub that inspired Tolkein's Prancing Pony was neat bonus! Staying in this establishment served our needs very well. It is a very short walk from the train station and there are also buses to other villages and towns in the Cotswolds. We also took a private tour of the area, starting right at our door! We highly recommend this establishment!

Visited Moreton in Marsh again last week on market day and thought we'd give The Bell a second try for lunch. Had the fish and chips and wow just as tasty but this time a decent portion! Great chunks of flaky fish and decent crisp batter. Highly recommend. Staff really friendly and helpful.

Not a good start as my husband ordered a pint of Hill Climb where the liquid did not reach the line in an oversized glass. He requested that the young barman top this up to the line which resulted in him argueing with my husband stating it didn't have to reach the line and refusing to top it up.

Enjoyed a pint after a day of touring. Had cold beer options (important to thirty Americans) along with the more traditional regional ales. Sort of a thrill to enjoy some time in the inn reputed to be the inspiration for The Prancing Pony in "The Lord of the Rings."

While on a trip with Sixty Sixty from Merthyr Tydfil, we decided to try here for lunch. Staff were very friendly and helpful as I use a walker and this was no problem. We both had Ham, Egg and Chips with Ketchup and it was very nice. Good price too. Although there were 3 steps to the toilets, you could go through the court yard to access the ramp for the disabled toilet, which was a good size and clean too. Court yard had tables & chairs so you could eat outside too. Would recommend a visit here.

Stopped here on the way back from Stratford Upon Avon and went into the first pub we saw, which happened to be The Bell Inn. A very friendly landlord told us we had 5 minutes until the kitchen closed, so we ordered fish and chips. I've never had curry sauce, with fish and chips but it was delicious.

We stayed here in April for the weekend and we were not disappointed - we booked a King Size room and were put in No1 - the room was a good size with a high ceiling and wooden beams, the room was well presented, very clean, with an en-suit bathroom including a walk in shower, tea and coffee making facilities and the bed was extremely comfortable. We had both breakfast and evening meals and the food was delicious on all three occasions, the cooked breakfast is a must, along with cereals, yoghurt, juice and toast - there is plenty on the menu for everyone and will set you up for the day. The evening menu was just as tasty with something for everyone, be sure to book as it does get busy for food in the evenings. All the staff are friendly and very helpful and we were always served first at the bar in the evenings - we ran a tab over the weekend and settled up before we left, which was great. The bar is a nice size with live music on some of the weekends which an added bonus, you are on the main high street, so all of the little boutique shops and cafe's are just a walk away, there is a lovely ice cream parlour across the road in a small little mall - it has lots of different flavours and sweets and fudge for the people back at home. This is a great place to base yourself if you're in the area for any length of time, I can not rate this Inn enough and we will be returning.

Visited twice in 2 days. First night Steak and Ale pie second night beer battered fish. Both nights washed down with Prescotts Hill Climb. Great service and lovely pub. Will visit again.

We only visited the bar as they don't do food on a Sunday night. The main reason for visiting is that my husband is a|Tolkien nut and wanted to visit the bar that apparently inspired the Prancing Pony. It was very atmospheric with a big map of Middle Earth and a plaque outside dedicated to the author. It wasn't busy as it was pouring with rain and we easily found seats next to the big map - easy for photos. The barmaid was cheerful and welcoming and served an excellent rioja. However I'm not that keen on dogs in bars and restaurants.

Just visited this bar the beer was good but a bit expensive. Staff very friendly and the place very clean

Been to this pub on a few occasions when the Christmas Market was on. You never get the feeling of a buoyant welcome and the ales were all hoppy and thus similar. There are better places in the village to visit.

As always a nice welcome and good service in this old Cotswolds pub and now the benefit of a open fire

Une plaque à l'entrée nous informe que ce pub aurait inspiré Tolkien. Au mur, une immense carte de la Terre du Milieu enfonce le clou. Pour autant, on est loin de l'attraction touristique. C'est un bon pub anglais, bien typique, avec sa cheminée, ses banquettes très confortables, et un colossal toutou, aussi docile et câlin qu'il est impressionnant.

Wednesday afternoon 1st November. Ignorant Bar Staff. More interested in chatting to each other and on their mobiles rather than providing good customer service.

Stopped for lunch in Moreton and popped in. It took a few minutes to be acknowledged but were found a table quite quickly after that. The food was of an excellent quality but for the prices we were paying I would have expected more bulk. The beer (UBU and Mad Goose) was also good. The young server seemed a little flustered and unfortunately didn't put our food order through until I went back to double check 5 minutes later. It appeared that till access was an issue with staff all waiting to put through orders and delaying service.

I stayed in the Bell in October 2017. It is an old building with no lift. NO Problem! The bar-guys will carry your bag upstairs with a smile. The room was large with a big bed and comfortable club chairs. Coffee and tea in the room. The location is perfect: walking distance from the train, a block from the laundromat and the Tuesday market right out the door. The pub is nice with great food and a friendly dog in case you are having pet withdrawal. As a woman, traveling alone, I felt safe here.

best pub in moreton its drab needs a refurb but it knows how to treat customers and serves great ale

Had over a hour to wait in Moreton-in-Marsh because of a train cancellation so went looking for a pub and found The Bell which is situated right in the centre of town. Very friendly pub with a cosy bar area and outside seating area at the back. Good range of drinks including 2 real ales that were on and both were very well kept. Pub also does food. Seemed to have a good mix of locals and tourists using it. Nice pub that is worth a visit if in Moreton for drinks, food or both. The pub dog was very friendly too!

We had a nice 2 night stay at the Bell Inn. The rooms at the back were small but very quiet and adequate for couples. Breakfast was good. We had a meal in the pub - if you are from NZ I don't recommend you order whitebait as it is nothing like what you expect, however the rest of our meal was good. The pub does not have evening meals on a Sunday.

Lovely old pub with real ales and good lagers , friendly bar staff and chatty locals , nice blue plaque outside with information of Tolkien being a customer and basing the lord of the rings prancing pony inn on the bell

Pleasant stay in a quaint inn, conveniently located to restaurants, and a grocery store (market in front of inn on Tuesdays--handy, but does affect parking only on

We wanted a snack lunch on Sunday. My wife had smoked trout pate, crème fraiche, chive dressing, salad leaves and sundried tomato bread. I had feta, avocado,roasted red pepper and rocket salad, green pesto and dressing. That cost us £15. The food was fine but it really was a light bite, gone in a flash. I asked for some bread to go with mine and they wanted an extra £2. Don't like to criticise, but it was hardly worth having.Service was not particularly helpful.
