Might be nice as a restaurant, but wasn't a good choice for drinks with friends - no beer or cider available on tap. Wine available was far more expensive than it is worth. 'Shop' also very much exploiting the fact it has monopoly on site. £8 for a small box of cereal and some milk. On a positive note, the atmosphere and decor is nice.

My partner and I had an exceptional time at Ballihoo - we especially enjoyed the ham hock and cheese croquettes, the chicken with white sauce and the cod with gnocchi - these were outstandingly delicious. We were also serenaded by the waitress as it was our birthdays, and gifted some free brownies which were so lovely. We will definitely be back!

We called in for breakfast and both of us opted for the 'Ballihoo muffin'; a sliced muffin, tipped with a hash brown, smoked bacon, spinach, a poached egg, hollandaise sauce and pea sprouts. The restaurant was pleasant, with a rustic theme. Service was efficient and friendly. The breakfast looked good (see pics) but was absolutely awash with hollandaise sauce, making the whole dish wet and cloying. I could only manage to eat half and my partner's finished plate was still swimming in hollandaise. Not pleasant. We would return, but would opt for the traditional full English next time.

The best service I've ever had from the friendliest and most helpful staff. Honestly, I was so impressed. Hi, I tried to email you but apparently the email bounced back: I ordered a gluten free pizza from your pizza shack yesterday. I checked ahead of time with your staff that the pizza was safe for me as I’m coeliac- your staff member reassured me that you take allergies seriously and take special care. I wrote on my order that I was coeliac and needed to be careful with cross contamination. My husband double checked the pizza was gluten free when he picked it up- it was smaller looking than his (gluten pizza) and the staff said it had a time stamp on it for the gluten free one, and it had the toppings I had requested. 2 hours after I had eaten it I had classic symptoms for me of consuming gluten. I was lightheaded, nauseous and vomited every five minutes for an hour and a half, unable to move from the bathroom or even speak. I spent overnight last night and today recovering. I felt it important to let you know that somewhere there was a mistake with my gluten free order and it made me seriously unwell, so that you can check your allergy measures. The reaction I had was similar to when I have previously accidentally consumed large amounts of gluten (bread rolls/crumpets etc), so somehow I believe a large amount of gluten got into my food. Coeliac disease is an autoimmune condition where my body attacks itself when I consume gluten- it damages my intestine and means I don’t take in nutrients from my food. It’s therefore extremely important that I don’t consume it. Please look at your measures for gluten free pizzas so you can avoid anyone else being seriously unwell again. Thank you.

This review is for the shop, not the restaurant (we did not eat there). No matter how small it is, it's perfect. You can pick up a number of different 4-person meals every day for just £20. We had the lasagna and tagine and they were delicious. Be there on time or make a reservation, otherwise you will be too late! The shop has fresh bread, croissants, cookies, coffee and a number of (regional) products. Very nice service. They think along and are happy to help you.

Nice location but several things annoyed me. It's EXPENSIVE. Husband and son had bugers, I had the veggieburger. They said thiers was ok but not worth the 16 quid price tag, my VeggieBurger was made from a combination of sawdust, moonrock chippings and sandpaper with a hint of stale nuts. Obvioulsy it wasnt but you'd be forgiven for thinking it was, it was drier than Ghandi's flip flop. The shop is WILDLY expensive, and the icing no the cake was the waitress flaunting a Free Palestine badge on her shirt. What the actual lol. If I'd have noticed that before ordering I'd have walked out.

Shame the menu has changed so much from last year. The Staff apart from Sarah and Zarah were not very welcoming or helpful. Sarah goes above and beyond to help you shame her shift started when we had nearly finished she remembered us from last year and took time to welcoming us back. Eaten here four or five times on holiday and it’s absolutely second to none with its excellent friendly service- all members of staff are lovely and can’t do enough to ensure you have a fab time, particularly Sarah. Food and drinks are all great quality. My son has several severe allergies (anaphylaxis level) and they are always flexible, thorough and accommodating with this at both the main restaurant and the pizza shack. There was on one occasion a small issue with one main course (not allergy related at all) and they managed it promptly and professionally. This place is a real gem- already looking forward to our next holiday.

Visited twice, once for a sandwich and once for a beef roast. There was a bit too much bread on the sandwich for me but the filling was tasty. The roast was very good and just the right portion size for me. It's a modern building with a rustic feel with plenty of indoor seating and some outdoor seating. I haven't visited in high season but would imagine that booking is essential. The service was 5 star (Sally & Sarah).

Hate to say it, but this experience was beyond embarrassing. We waited an hour for our brunch. When it arrived, four of the dishes were different to what was ordered. The scrambled eggs tasted like fish and all of the ‘poached’ eggs were essentially hard-boiled, the yolk (pictured) was like eating one of the tracking balls you used to get in an old computer mouse - and it wasn’t because they’d been waiting to bring all the meals out at once because two of them came out a good 5-10 minutes after all the others. My friend’s teeth could barely get through the toast, it was so hard, she had to give up. Two of us agreed they were the worst eggs we’d ever had. A table that was seated after us was served before us too, which seemed odd. I also had a chai latte, which was actually very tasty.

Came here whilst staying on the estate, for lunch. Party of 9 booked for one o'clock Ordered drinks (which are not cheap) Expect to pay £6.95 for a pint of Estrella and about £32 for a bottle of red wine Ordered various starters and three children's meals to arrive at the same time . Starters were of a reasonable standard Then waited an hour and five minutes for adult main courses to arrive. Wrong main course was sent to me ,( Ordered cod and was given a pork chop!) Agreed to have the pork chopped provided I wasn't charged. ) Pork chops were cold! Other main courses were hot! Ordered childrens ice creams and three cocktails. Whilst waiting for drinks and ice creams, told by the manager, we need your table in 15mins. This was unacceptable especially whilst waiting for our cocktails (£36 for three) and ice cream. Manager made aware of this and did discount the bill by25%. It should be noted that our order was behind a party of 22 who came in after us. Also the chef has a legal duty to serve any hot food above 63°c, which aspects of ours did not even reach and the staff need to be aware of timings At best the food is average and overpriced! Will not revisit

We were a group of five ladies staying at one of the cottages on the estate. We ate outside at Ballihoo for lunch on a very sunny Saturday in October 2023. We had the sharing platter and a side of fries between us. Very tasty mix of breads, hummus, spicy sausage, olives, dipping oil etc. We all thought it was good quality and enough to act as a light lunch for us all. The waitress was particularly helpful and considerate - sorting out a slight mixup with our drinks efficiently and without fuss. We then decided to pick up dinner from there that evening - and have it as a takeaway. I spoke to Zahra to place our order and she was absolutely lovely and so helpful - a real asset to the establishment. Again - we all thought the food was wonderful. Two of our group had beef stew and dumplings - beef was super tender, gravy was a rich reduction, dumplings were light and moist. Another group member had the plaice - loved it! Another had the beef burger - again highly rated. I had the cauliflower, walnut and chickpea burger with fries. Very, very tasty and an unusual vegetarian option that made a great change. Overall we were so impressed by the quality and taste. We had originally planned to get a takeaway curry from somewhere else - but we’re very glad we didn’t because the food from Ballihoo really exceeded anything else we might have bought. Well done and thank you to all the team there!

We ate here once on our 4 night break for convenience - big error! The building is nice and light and airy and our waitress was absolutely lovely and it’s a cute touch offering a dog meal (expensive though) but the food itself is all completely bland and some of it was so over cooked! Three of us had the salmon which was so over cooked and the veg had no seasoning. Three had the anaemic looking chicken with again no seasoning, no sauce just on a bed of veg which were also tasteless. One had the burger which he said was average at best and one had the ribs again so over cooked and dry!! No Korean flavour there either…. We didn’t bother with desserts given the standard of the mains and over priced for what these tasteless dishes are.. they’re all around the £20 mark either just under or under.. we shared a couple of the platters to start which were ok. With the drinks our bill for 8 plus doggie came to over £400 … you can imagine our surprise when my son in law got called back to the till as they’d undercharged us by 1p, yep 1p and they asked for it… such a strange place which is a shame as for convenience it could be really good.

Dear Ballihoo club, I honestly don't know where to begin. I'm currently renting a cottage in the estate and after reading you are the only food option around I decided to give it a try. As I opened up the packaging to my veggie burger, things looked very wrong. The contents looked as if (and I wouldn't be surprised if they had ) been sitting there for hours and had became dry, wilted, and depressed. Your veggie burger patty tasted of old tissue and hard times. Your lettuce was soggy and wilted with a slimy substance covering it. After an experience and a half struggling to eat your burger I decided to move on to your veggie risotto. (Just looking at it gave me anxiety!) The risotto had no doubt been ignored for so long and was literally begging for someone to come and rescue it from its room temperature coffin. To be honest with you I haven't been so angry over food in a long time. Though you have a nice selection, your food shouldn't be consumed by anyone real or imaginary. Are you rated 3 stars for a reason?? YES!! My suggestion, double back and try eating your own food options, remove the waste and replace it with real food. I simply ran away from Ballihoo Club because that's all I could possibly do. Your fries were good though.

Be silent or have someone fit the narrative speak for you or you’ll be denied. I won’t be trying this racist establishment again.. completely disgusting. Only positive and reason for the second star was the open playground nearby for kids which my son enjoyed. *An update - the restaurant wanted to contact me via reviews regarding the incident, stating it did not happen. I have no interest conversing with them further after what happened to avoid further disgust - whether they want to go the extra mile in either direction is unknown to me, but I am much happier in the ignorance in never knowing.

You have to judge Ballihoo in the context of “it has to pretty much be all things to all people” and that is a really tough ask. For our dinner, they had large parties, small (2 people), adults and children of all ages. That’s not easy. We had a great time and they surpassed our expectations. Excellent choice, perfect sea bream plus a super veggie option for our mother!! The choc brownie pudding was to die for. And, whilst she’d only been working there for 3 weeks, Bethany was a most attentive, efficient and ‘bubbly’ attender. Top marks all round and all for a reasonable cost with 12.5% service included. We had the best service from Sarah. She was very friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable - she was more than happy to recommend some drinks and good options. Would definitely recommend the restaurant and would 11/10 go again

Very good quality meals. The prices initially look quite expensive but the quality of the food is excellent. Spacious dining room with good accessibility. Nice varied menu. Staff were very good too.

What a shame, we could have spent a fortune in here as staying on the park for 7 days. The only good things about Ballihoo is the wine (which is over priced) and a few members of the waiting staff, who were let down by the plates they were serving. As a party of eight people, the food was over an hour in arriving. Which I wouldn’t have minded if the main meals were not flavourless, salty, cheap produce and tasted mostly made in a microwave - the prices were not reflected in the quality or flavour. We complained to the shift manager, who was rude, dismissive and had an air of arrogance (which was strange as he was even unable to open a bottle a bottle of wine correctly) then sneered as we asked for nice glasses (for the £40 bottle of wine), as the ones provided looked like they belonged in a picnic basket and not a restaurant! Training, realising the customer is mainly right and a proper manager and trained chef would make a massive difference. If I were you, I’d order Waitrose to deliver and save your money!

Very slow service food over priced a duty manager with a poor attitude. Been for 7 days only used it once due to lack of decent menu choices and poor service

We had a lovely dinner with cocktails and would highly recommend the restaurant. Attentive welcoming staff and a varied menu. I’m astounded by any review that suggests the staff are anything apart from excellent as we have come here a lot for various drinks meals...

Having seen some poor reviews we tentatively visited Ballihoo on site. I spoke with Abie on the phone and she assured me she would personally look after us. So off we went. Abie was happy we arrived. She took our order then it was down...

A bit disorganised at times, but beautiful food, served in a great atmosphere, with lovely staff. Bethany was just brilliant at looking after us - despite being quite new to the job, she will go far! Good luck to her. Will be back at Christmas...

Staff were lovely, couldn’t have been more pleasant and helpful. The food was fairly nice, but SO EXPENSIVE for what it is. I guess the fact that as it’s the only restaurant on the holiday complex they don’t have to worry too much about repeat...

My whole family think Ballihoo is a great onsite restaurant/cafe/bar. I’ve noticed many times they have to deal with people acting like they own the place, or having to meet demanding, and sometimes not caring parents, demands. Walking in with no booking and expecting the...

We read all the previous reviews but decided to still book and we are so glad we did. The food was amazing, the portions were very generous and the service was excellent and full of smiles. My son loved the pizza shack and the fact that he could play outside.

Menu is far too pretentious and fussy these days. Needs a few basics, but they need to be done well. 3 of us had burgers and how this is possible I do not know, but they were inedible (horribly dry and overcooked). It’s one thing...

We have just had the most delicious dinner. The menu is different to the norm and is beautifully presented. We cannot fault the food and my husband who has been in catering for over 30 years is impressed. So much so our family of 10 will be back in the New Year for a special dinner. The waiting staff are knowledgeable, attentive and keen to ensure the clients' satisfaction. The prices are fair considering this is a special experience, not a cafe. The best meal we have eaten in a long while. Thank you.

We stayed in SotW for a friends wedding locally. It appeared everyone had come upto the Cotswolds for wedding that weekends at the White Hart was our 5th attempt at finding a spot for dinner - turns out 5th time lucky it was! We had lovely service throughout dinner, fantastic food in a really lovely dining room. Would strongly recommend, nice selection of drinks and main meals, could well be a lovely spot for dinner for two or small groups as well visiting the area.

A lovely tea shop on the High St. I sat outside the front on the limited pavement seating. The staff were lovely and the food well presented. The pasty was though expensive and there was no wow factor. The ice bun was heavy and sticky. The coffee was delicious. Would return but not spend so much.

Nearly broke my tooth on a cherry stone in the bakewell slice, very expensive compared to other local tea rooms and staff looked scruffy.
