The sweetness of this place cannot be explained. Hidden, you can find it thanks to the signs and walking along an internal corridor, it feels like entering a relative's house. You find yourself in a small room, very welcoming and with very homely furnishings. A very kind and helpful gentleman welcomed us. We ordered tea with their famous scones (served hot), clotted cream and jams, all homemade and all really excellent. A splendid afternoon tea.

We had a great experience at The Old Bakery and Tea Room. We’re from Pittsburgh, PA, and decided to stop by as we were passing through. When we left, we decided that we would make this a regular stop when we return. The food was excellent and was generous portions. The service was also friendly and welcoming! Would recommend The Old Bakery and Tea Room for anyone!

It was my first visit to Stow-on-the-Wold town centre. We found this absolute gem of a tearoom hidden away. A lovely couple own and run it. Full marks for giving us a fabulous brunch and all round wonderful experience. I will return again and again...

Really friendly husband and wife running this tiny cafe. DEFINITELY BOOK AHEAD, IT'S ONLY 6 TABLES, can do this online. We had a brill breakfast and are really pleased we went there! Lovely little place and such yummy food. Their cheese scones are brill and they offer Gluten free options.

We had the most lovely lunch here today. The tea room was warm and cosy on a grey, dreary day and the food was delicious. The portion sizes were very generous which meant that we had to get cakes to takeaway! I'd highly recommend a visit if you are in Stow-on-the-Wold.

Wonderful friendly tea shop with great service and some really tasty food. I had the ham and eggs on a waffle and my wife had a tuna and cheese jacket potato. Both were excellent and good value for money. Having eaten at Huffkins the day before this place is head and shoulders above in every way. Recommend booking if you can.

This place is a real gem. We had lunch here and all four people had different food and all were impressed with what we had. I can recommend the crumpets with cheese and bacon, fantastic. The homemade scones, jam and cream were superb and the chocolate orange cake was so good we ordered some to take home with us. Highly recommend a visit if you can and call ahead to book a table so you will not be disappointed.

The owners were so friendly and welcoming. Very knowledgeable of allergies, especially coeliac disease. Loads of gluten free options marked on the menu, the gluten free scone was incredible! I’ll be going back for sure

Owner needs to learn how to talk to customers properly. Was told where to place our dog, basically under the table, scones took ages to be delivered. We had a nervous new dog with us who is very much food orientated so kept her busy with treats. Owner told me off like I was a 3 year old. Never ever have I been spoken down to like that in my life ( I am 60) Owner was charming to everyone else but looked down his nose to us. Table had his religious beliefs for all to see, says it all!! I am recovering from a life threatening issue and must not have stress in my life so I walked and let my wife settle up. Honestly mate, act like a grown up, life is too short. Overpriced too. Contrary to your reply, I never fed our dog DIRECTLY OFF THE TABLECLOTH. If you had looked properly you would have seen that it was off the paper napkin. You have not addressed YOUR behaviour towards me. Where have I said in this review that the scones were microwaved? I had to walk away and not get in any confrontation as I have stated. I have nearly died twice this year and this is all unpleasant.I stand by my review! STILL AWAITING APOLOGY FROM OBNOXIOUS OWNER.

Where do I begin - this place is everything we could have wished for and more. Alan went out of his way to ensure our gluten free and egg dietary restrictions were well catered for. He really was a most terrific host and helped us keep our infant entertained! The lunch was classic, made with heart and great value! The cream tea was spectacular, still the best GF scone I have tried. Make sure to book a reservation - you won't want to miss out. When I return to the Cotswolds, the Old Bakery Tearoom will absolutely be my first stop!

We had a beautiful late lunch at this gem. Alan and his wife have done such a fantastic job at making this bakery feel like an extension of their own home. The food was delicious, the hot chocolate to die for and their famous salad dressing was simply divine. Would highly recommend!

Got to stow too early to book in so thought we'd pop in for a sandwich and boy what a sandwich. Good variety. If they've got the ingredients they will make you whatever sandwich you desire. Nice cup of tea. And then there was the cake!! What can I say but superb little find.

Came to this beautifully quaint, English tea room looking for a romantic country lunch/cream tea with my partner. It was the most lovely warm environment with beautiful crockery that reminded me of a vintage storybook! The owners are beyond lovely and the work they do with the locals to improve the surrounding area just adds to this wonderful place! It’s tucked away and to be honest that only adds to its charm! The cream tea was the best I have ever had, fresh, hot and flavourful! Best tea too!! 💕

Utterly brilliant. From the warm and familiar welcome, to the friendly atmosphere and absolutely superb food - this little gem was exactly what we needed, when we needed it!! It's clear why The Old Bakery Tearoom is so highly rated! I'm really glad we made a reservation; no table stayed empty for more than a few minutes, and lots of walk-ins had to turn away (and hopefully try again later!) Very dog friendly - our pooch Scruff was made to feel at home, and was even welcomed with a biscuit and a spot made for him to sit under the table. We'd highly recommend this without hesitation! P.S. order a hot chocolate!!

What a blessing to enjoy this town with an intention stop for cream tea at The Old Bakery Tea Room. I thoroughly enjoyed a delicious, warm-from-the-oven gluten free scone with clotted cream and jam, and my husband also said his regular scone was very tasty. We could see how much the owners Alan and Jackie pour their hearts in this special tea room. Friendly, attentive service without feeling rushed. Thank you for a peaceful place to enjoy cream tea!

If you ever want to be amazed with flavors that explode in your mouth, then you HAVE to visit the Old Bakery Tea Room. From fresh hand made Scone with hand made jam and clotted cream to a goats-milk salad that was DEVINE. Remember to book as a few ppl were turned away.

The most welcoming and cared for tea room I’ve ever been to. Service was amazing and the coffee was deliciously strong (which isn’t usually the case in most English places). Food was great, portion sizes were on the mark. The whole experience felt like a hug after a hard day which is so bizarre but 10/10 recommend honestly can’t fault it. A really special place.

Had a lovely cream tea here with tasty scones, jam and a great pot of tea. Our girls loved the cakes. Very friendly and attentive owner. We felt very welcome with our children. Definitely worth waiting for and getting a booking.

The best creme tea (tea + scones) I've ever had!! The portion was generous (actually you can ask for a refill of creme and jam in case they are not enough), and the owner couple were so sweet and kind. I will definitely come back if I have a chance to visit this town again.

Small and cosy. The coffee was brilliant, piping hot and the above delicious.

My wife had a cream tea, I had a sandwich. Sandwich came with salad and locally made crisps. My wife's cream tea was amazing, she let me try a bit of (still earm) scone with clotted cream and jam, it was exquisite. Prices were reasonable. My only criticism is that the place isn't big enough, our lovely proprietor had to turn several people away. Thoroughly recommend this place.

Visiting from Australia my daughter wanted to take me out for lunch for my birthday, at a place with GF options and scones,and we found this beautiful gem in the heart of one of the most gorgeous places on earth. First gluten free scones I've ever had and they did not disappoint! Incredibly welcoming staff, and because the place is so small, you really feel tended to. The atmosphere was warm and the prices are really low for the standard of food and service we had. It's a shame we live so far away but will definitely be visiting again if we're ever near the area!

While visiting the local area we wanted to enjoy some scones in a tea room. I saw a review of the old bakery tea room stating that the scones were the best the person had ever had. Now, it's difficult to fully trust reviews as everyone's tastes and opinions differ but we decided to give this place a try and WOW! The review I saw wasn't exaggerating. 2 very large, warm, fluffy and scrumptious homemade scones, lovely thick clotted cream, delicious homemade jam and a very tasty coffee for me and forest fruit tea for my partner. On top of the absolutely wonderful food and drinks the welcome was very warm and friendly and the room itself is very homely. You can tell that the people who have owned and run this tea room since 2005 really care about their art and their customers. I really would strongly advise you to give this place a try, you won't be disappointed. We're already looking forward to going back for more! The only negative thing that we could say is that our stomachs weren't big enough to enjoy more than we were served.

Lovely Stow tearoom that reflects true customer service and great food without crazy prices. The food is absolutely delicious. Everything is fresh to order and the scones divine. I loved every morsel!

I was so thankful that we could have this such a great lunch here. We could see how much the owner loves this restaurant. It goes without saying that the taste was good. he was friendly and everything was well organised. The level of service and food, especially the steak, an oven-baked potato and a colourful salad, were like hotel restaurants but the price was much cheaper. It’s two hours away from our house but I think we‘ll go again for this.

We decided to stop by this charming spot while visiting the Cotswolds, and we were greeted by an incredibly friendly owner. My wife and I weren't very hungry, so we opted to share a steak and cream tea. Initially, I was concerned that the owner might be upset about us sharing a main dish, but to our pleasant surprise, he served us two plates with the steak cut in half and beautifully plated. The owner made us feel absolutely comfortable, making our dining experience thoroughly enjoyable.

Wow, what an amazing little cafe, we came here for a hot chocolate and cake. The owners are so friendly and the cafe is a lovely place to be. There are lots of funny quotes all over the place which are brilliant! The lemon cake we had was delicious and so fresh. The hot chocolate was out of this world, so tasty and hot! It's worth a trip just for that! Can imagine it gets very busy in the peak season.

Best scone I have ever eaten! The tomato and pepper soup with a freshly baked roll was also delicious. We walked in around 1pm on a Monday, and managed to snag a table for four. Warm, wholesome and delicious. Thank you so much for this highlight of our trip to the Cotswolds!

My boyfriend and I always try to visit here and had the delicious tuna and cheese and cheese and onion melts respectively which never fail to impress. They were each served with a lovely side salad and dressing. The Earl Grey tea was one of the best I've had. I thoroughly recommend this lovely tea room.

Service and all is nice but very average tasting afternoon tea. To be honest, I don't understand the hype around 'afternoon tea' generally, around the UK.

Honestly, I was sceptical this place wouldn’t be as good as the reviews. We also didn’t plan on having lunch here as well as dessert but we didn’t feel for the place we had planned to go to and ended up here. We were glad we did! Lovely food, lovely service with great chat and AMAZING SCONES for dessert! Absolutely loved it and I’d recommend this place to anyone. This is a must see hidden gem!

The shop is located at a relatively secretive so you have to beware of sign board for directions at street. Scone, tea and coffee are all good. Alan and Jackie are both nice and friendly too! Particularly like the vibes here that made you feel like "at home". 🏠
