My wife had a cream tea, I had a sandwich. Sandwich came with salad and locally made crisps. My wife's cream tea was amazing, she let me try a bit of (still earm) scone with clotted cream and jam, it was exquisite. Prices were reasonable. My only criticism is that the place isn't big enough, our lovely proprietor had to turn several people away. Thoroughly recommend this place.

Had a wonderful time here a few months back. Owners were lovely and attentive and the best scones I’ve ever had fresh from the oven.

Visiting from Australia my daughter wanted to take me out for lunch for my birthday, at a place with GF options and scones,and we found this beautiful gem in the heart of one of the most gorgeous places on earth. First gluten free scones I've ever had and they did not disappoint! Incredibly welcoming staff, and because the place is so small, you really feel tended to. The atmosphere was warm and the prices are really low for the standard of food and service we had. It's a shame we live so far away but will definitely be visiting again if we're ever near the area!

While visiting the local area we wanted to enjoy some scones in a tea room. I saw a review of the old bakery tea room stating that the scones were the best the person had ever had. Now, it's difficult to fully trust reviews as everyone's tastes and opinions differ but we decided to give this place a try and WOW! The review I saw wasn't exaggerating. 2 very large, warm, fluffy and scrumptious homemade scones, lovely thick clotted cream, delicious homemade jam and a very tasty coffee for me and forest fruit tea for my partner. On top of the absolutely wonderful food and drinks the welcome was very warm and friendly and the room itself is very homely. You can tell that the people who have owned and run this tea room since 2005 really care about their art and their customers. I really would strongly advise you to give this place a try, you won't be disappointed. We're already looking forward to going back for more! The only negative thing that we could say is that our stomachs weren't big enough to enjoy more than we were served.

Lovely little gem hidden at the end of a covered alleyway. The best scones I’ve ever had, handmade and served with delicious jam. The cream tea was sumptuous, and Alan welcomed us so warmly—it felt like home. I definitely recommend this place. It’s a must-visit!

Lovely Stow tearoom that reflects true customer service and great food without crazy prices. The food is absolutely delicious. Everything is fresh to order and the scones divine. I loved every morsel!

I was so thankful that we could have this such a great lunch here. We could see how much the owner loves this restaurant. It goes without saying that the taste was good. he was friendly and everything was well organised. The level of service and food, especially the steak, an oven-baked potato and a colourful salad, were like hotel restaurants but the price was much cheaper. It’s two hours away from our house but I think we‘ll go again for this.

We decided to stop by this charming spot while visiting the Cotswolds, and we were greeted by an incredibly friendly owner. My wife and I weren't very hungry, so we opted to share a steak and cream tea. Initially, I was concerned that the owner might be upset about us sharing a main dish, but to our pleasant surprise, he served us two plates with the steak cut in half and beautifully plated. The owner made us feel absolutely comfortable, making our dining experience thoroughly enjoyable.

Wow, what an amazing little cafe, we came here for a hot chocolate and cake. The owners are so friendly and the cafe is a lovely place to be. There are lots of funny quotes all over the place which are brilliant! The lemon cake we had was delicious and so fresh. The hot chocolate was out of this world, so tasty and hot! It's worth a trip just for that! Can imagine it gets very busy in the peak season.

Came here for a snack with my girlfriend when we visited during our Cotswolds trip recently. Best scone I have ever had hands down, I loved the homely and relaxed atmosphere and really lovely service.

Best scone I have ever eaten! The tomato and pepper soup with a freshly baked roll was also delicious. We walked in around 1pm on a Monday, and managed to snag a table for four. Warm, wholesome and delicious. Thank you so much for this highlight of our trip to the Cotswolds!

My boyfriend and I always try to visit here and had the delicious tuna and cheese and cheese and onion melts respectively which never fail to impress. They were each served with a lovely side salad and dressing. The Earl Grey tea was one of the best I've had. I thoroughly recommend this lovely tea room.

Service and all is nice but very average tasting afternoon tea. To be honest, I don't understand the hype around 'afternoon tea' generally, around the UK.

Honestly, I was sceptical this place wouldn’t be as good as the reviews. We also didn’t plan on having lunch here as well as dessert but we didn’t feel for the place we had planned to go to and ended up here. We were glad we did! Lovely food, lovely service with great chat and AMAZING SCONES for dessert! Absolutely loved it and I’d recommend this place to anyone. This is a must see hidden gem!

The shop is located at a relatively secretive so you have to beware of sign board for directions at street. Scone, tea and coffee are all good. Alan and Jackie are both nice and friendly too! Particularly like the vibes here that made you feel like "at home". 🏠

Incredible experience and food. A quaint, place with incredible food and the sweetest, most authentic, down-to-earth owners one could meet. What an introduction to the Cotswolds! My friends and I ordered the cream tea, complete with scones, and beautiful jams, and a caramel shortbread. The quality was wonderful, so I feel like one couldn't go wrong with any of the options on the menu. Highly recommend. Had such a wholesome time!

My husband and I love this place. The food is delightful, all made fresh with local ingredients. Alan is a very kind soul, attentive and lovely to chat to. And they even make doggy treats! We are in awe of how him and Jackie have been able to share the very sad story of their son Tom, and provide support to anyone who needs it. This tea room is a gem, so unique and heartwarming.

If you go to the Cotswolds or anywhere near stow on the wold stop here for cream tea. If I ever go back to England I will go out of my way to come back here. Such friendly staff and beautiful atmosphere. Food was phenomenal the best scones, clotted cream, and tea we had on our trip throughout the UK. This is a must do! I ordered a crumpet along with my cream tea and initially it was forgotten in the order but I was not upset because I was so full from the tea. The owner realized it was forgotten before we left and gave me and my sister each a crumpet, free of charge! Everything about this place is excellent. Truly one of the best places for English food in england. You will not be disappointed!

The owner was extremely friendly and very welcoming - juggling serving, welcoming and chatting in the right proportion and with awareness of priority. The food was delicious and freshly prepared. Best place for cream tea/scones. Glad we booked in advance because there are limited seats. Peaceful, charming ambiance. Amazing service and food, especially the cakes! Also recommend their coleslaw and Brie w/ cranberry sandwich. The way the place is run is very thoughtful and thorough. It felt homey. Portion sizes are filling - perfect for a day of sightseeing and walking. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our lovely meal. ♥️

We stopped in here looking for an afternoon pick me up. The owners were very friendly and happy to show us Yankees how to properly eat a scone. While we can only speak to the flavor of the scones and jam—which were delicious—the other food being served up also looked great! Definitely stop in if you find yourself in Stow and in need of refreshment.

We just had to visit once we had heard all the good reviews. The cream tea was served with 2 large scones and a generous serving of clotted cream and home-made jam. Fresh and delicious. I can confirm it was the best scone eaten during 2 months of travel in the UK. Bonus points for a cup of tea in a china cup and saucer. Tried coronation chicken sandwiches for the first time 😋 Service with a smile and attention to detail. Good idea to book ahead.

Really enjoyed our visit to The Old Bakery Tea Room! The GF scones were really really good. The scones with gluten were great! Definitely give this place a try. We were very lucky to get a table, strongly recommend to book ahead.

We had sat down at a different tea room, but had a last minute change of heart and I'm so glad we did because we ended up here! Everything was spot on, scones were fantastic, infact I'd say the best we've tried, along with some really tasty homemade jam. I also couldn't resist a slice of flapjack, but I was quite rightly guided to seeing how I got on with the scones before making that decision. I was infact too full to manage the flapjack, so took it for later anyway, and it was absolutely delicious when I polished that off on the journey back home. Could've stayed a lot longer had our 2 year old let us, but sadly he didn't. And to top it off the owner was a really nice guy, and made it feel like the place was almost an extension of your own home. Lovely stuff. Thanks very much, we'll be back.

Truly delicious scones, the best quiche I ever tasted and the hot chocolate was extra special, too. The food is made with real thoughtfulness, but the love and attention to detail goes further than the dishes served. It felt like visiting a generous friend’s home. We were never rushed, service was attentive and kind, and the atmosphere was one of comfort and dare I say, love. Highly recommend reserving a table to make sure you get to enjoy this special spot.

This is a cozy 5 table restaurant that is run by a couple. The food is homemade, fresh and exceptional. The service is welcoming and personal. It is superlative in it's genre (a traditional small-town english tea room), and as such, may not be for everyone (for e.g. if you're expecting fast food chain cafe). It does get busy, so reserving a table (and being on time) is highly recommended.

A small establishment- we were at the last remaining table - & ordered 2 Cream Teas - one Gluten Free. The pot of tea & 2 China cups & milk jug arrived a few minutes later. The Cream Teas were brought a bit later - 2 enormous scones each, plus dishes of clotted cream & jam - we both opted for the forest fruits jam. Very delicious & very filling! The GF scones were quite crumbly when cut, but that is very common with GF anything! A nice touch was the presentation on rectangular plates, with a couple of strawberries & also a sachet each of a lemon wipe for the inevitable sticky fingers! Also interesting to read, as fellow Christians, the Christian testimony of the owners while we waited for our order

We had been looking for recommended spots for a nice afternoon tea and this place did not disappoint! We had the cream tea, hot chocolates and my partner had cheese and tomato on toast. The hot chocolates were proper melted chocolate (none of that powdered rubbish) and the scones were served warm and tasted very fresh. The servings of cream and jam were plentiful and the cheese on toast was divine. Fortunately my partner let me have a bite (or 2). The gentleman that served us was lovely, friendly and attentive. We were also touched by their story and felt that the care and compassion that they have was very evident in the atmosphere and service that they provide. We cannot wait to visit again!

Best tearoom in England - food and service were amazing. Having visited numerous top-rated tearooms (15+), recommended/known for their 'scones' during our holiday in UK, this place is definitely on the top of the list! The scones with clotted cream and jam (generous portions) were absolutely amazing, crunchy on the outside and freshly baked - hot from the oven. The only other time my husband and I had tasted something even remotely close to this was during a luxury afternoon tea experience in the centre of London, which was about 10 times the cost ... but without the same standard of friendly service that we experienced in this tearoom. There is a good reason for the limited seating - Alan & Jackie (husband/wife team) are in charge of running the entire place by themselves so that they can maintain the quality of experience. While Jackie is busy with cleaning&producing homemade food for the customers, Alan juggles between serving the customers, and making sure that everyone receives the opportunity to chat with him. He visited our table multiple times for a friendly conversation and did not rush us out even though it was closing time! He made everyone feel like it was coming 'home'. We loved it so much that we decided to return and squeeze in another visit just before our departure flight! If you have the chance to visit, I highly recommend you to read their testimony (sitting on the table) and hopefully it will provide you with some insight into why they are so wonderfully set apart from other places :)

Absolutely lovely experience here. Feels like you've popped into someone's home. Stopped by on the way back to London from Stratford upon Avon and Alan was incredibly kind and accommodating. And the food was delicious! Had gluten free crumpets and a ham and cheese melt that were some of the best food we had in all of England. Sadly we didn't have time for cream tea, but I'm so glad we managed to get in. Highly recommend calling ahead for reservations if you're going for afternoon tea, as a lot of the Cotswold's tours stop here and the restaurant only has five tables, but it's worth it.

Thank you Alan and Jackie for having us at your lovely tea room. We had the coronation chicken sandwich and cream tea which was all home made- and blew our socks off! Everything on the menu is home made by Jackie in the kitchen, and Alan provides great service and banter. We will certainly be revisiting when we're in Stow on the Wold.

Here you can have the greatest scones, awesome flapjacks and really good tea and lunch! We went there 2 times because of the gorgeous scones and also for the service! Thanks alot for that great experience, if you move on without a visit you will miss a great tea room!

I recently visited the Old Bakery Tea House, a charming spot specializing in traditional English food. The atmosphere was cozy, and the service provided by the staff was excellent—friendly, polite, and efficient. We tried various dishes like the brie cheese and bacon sandwich with cranberry sauce, coronation chicken sandwich, tuna sandwich, crumpets, and scones. Everything was fantastic, but the crumpets stole the show with their delightful taste and texture. We had a wonderful experience with no disappointments. I highly recommend the Old Bakery Tea House to anyone looking for a taste of authentic English cuisine. Overall Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What a lovely place this is, run by lovely people! I am so glad we booked a table at lunchtime, definitely a worthwhile precaution. The Old Bakery does not cram its customers in, and does not rush them to make menu decisions, or to get them out of the door. We had delicious food - including cheese scones, warm bacon and Stilton sandwiches, and cream teas. Great value. We even got the recipe for the salad dressing! Must go back very soon .....

Had a delightful brunch here on our vacation. Alan was a fabulous host that made the experience special. The food was also fabulous and we left discussing how good things were. There was a bit of a wait (1 hour), but we just wandered around the village while waiting - absolutely worth the wait.

THE best scones we’ve ever had!!!! We’re still dreaming about this cream tea from yesterday - only £7.95 pp you get TWO fresh scones with homemade cream and jam and a pot of tea to go with it! This was so refreshing as most tea rooms in the Cotswolds give you cream and jam in those pre-bought packets. The scones were so warm and fluffy on the inside - my boyfriend said they were better than the ones his mum makes and I’ve never ever heard him say that! The teapots and cups were super cute and we just had the best time ! We are definitely coming back again before we leave - thank you so much!! :)

Lovely and friendly people serving us, I believe they're the owners. Place is a bit tucked away. We got there towards the end of the day, but the hosts were courteous and welcoming. After coming out of a busy period of tax return work we decided to treat the family to a local lunch on a Saturday afternoon to reacquaint ourselves again. Our visit to The Old Bakery Tearoom was indeed a treat , the food was exceptional both in quality and value; the coffee was delicious and served hot and up there with the best I have ever had. The tearoom was busy and so it is highly advisable to book a table as we did. Whilst all the food was excellent, the caramel shortbread could be highly addictive 😋 . The proprietor was very welcoming and good with our three children. The atmosphere was calm and relaxed and one could not help but overhear the delight of the other patrons with their experience of the tearoom. We cannot recommend this establishment highly enough.

An idiosyncratic but excellent cafe. Stow is full of overpriced and pretentious cafés and bars with poor service. The Old Bakery is nothing like them. The food is decently priced and delicious, and the staff are friendly and informal. If you want a nice cup of tea rather than a photo for Instagram this is the place.
