Went here for our sons birthda last night, having been our 'very' local a few years ago. Food had always been excellent but last night I could have done better with my eyes shut!!! The lovely barmaid was a breath of fresh air but the food is poo!! £90 charged after a haggle of 4 out 5 meals ordered were inedible - foul mouthed female patrons also spoilt the evening. All round extremely bad experience .... rather go to burger van on Walworth Industrial Estate - at least he can cook!!! Minus 5 stars if I was allowed! 🤬

Thought I book to have Sunday lunch, for the 3 of us. As there is a 2 for one on Sunday roast. The staff were lovely, the pub seems nice. A bit cold where we were sitting. For the price we paid for a roast, we didn’t think it was worth what we paid. A few roast potatoes, not much veg between the 2 of us. I asked for more gravy, the waitress, said there wasn’t any more & would have to make more. They didn’t bother. Asked for more apple sauce & said there wasn’t any more. To say we hardley had any in the first place. It don’t take long to make more gravy, for the apple sauce they could have easily peeled some fresh apples for the sauce if running out. The pud was not overly busy. If someone else ordered the pork they would want apple sauce. I don’t think we will be returning.

This is our local for drinks and have eaten here a few times. We have received consistently good food and service. A booking is a must on a Sunday (served between 12.00 and 16.00). We order two roast beef and two fish and chips! The beef was a single slice, which sounds a little frugal but the slice was the depth of a frying steak and was melt in the mouth. Fish and chips is a reliable favourite but served with chips that could have double for roast potatoes.

I've passed this lovely pub several times over the past couple of years and it has changed hands a few times but now has a really good team in place. We received a friendly welcome and there's a lovely bubbly local atmosphere. The menu is a real treat and lots of local produce. I have been on my own with my toddler and together with my husband and we have always been made very welcome. There's lots of outdoor seating in the back garden and a few benches along the front by the lane, which is where you often find some friendly locals. There are lovely big fireplaces for the colder days - we're looking forward to booking some cosy Sunday lunches as the weather cools. They are very open to accommodating different diets - just speak to the manager.

Party of 7 adults and 3 kids visited for Sunday lunch. What a fabulous experience. Couldn't have been looked after better. We initially popped in a few weeks previously for a drink and to make the booking and were intrigued by the Sunday Tup, a whole leg of lamb served with all the trimmings. This needed to be booked by the Thursday preceding which we duly did. The lamb was incredible and would easily have fed 6 although 4 adults and 1 kid made short work of it! Other meals enjoyed were roast chicken breast, roast beef and pan fried cod. Excellent cheesecake and sticky toffee puddings for dessert. Perhaps, the best thing about the white hart though, is its staff. Such a welcoming atmosphere from the landlord and his team, nothing too much trouble, and very accomodating towards my 2 year old, which sadly is not always the case in pubs nowadays. All in all, a wonderful afternoon and we will definitely be back.

What a find! A delightful village pub with cosy atmosphere - inglenook with log burner, spacious and comfortable, books, games, piano, and dogs welcome - felt totally at home here. A limited menu but the food was excellent - and I'm fussy. Chose delicious local asparagus for starters (though the French onion soup was tempting), followed by the special of sea bass on a bed of Asian vegetables. Others had wild mushroom tagliatelle. Both were superb, and all 3 puddings shared around the table were yummy. Attentive service from the landlord, who was very tolerant of our somewhat boisterous party! After reading the reviews, we booked one night here as it was the only place that had a room!We had informed them that we wouldn't be arriving until 10pm and this was not an issue, except for parking, but was allowed to park in front of bin gates, which was helpful. Went for one drink but it was clear that neither of the girls serving wanted to be there, or to serve you, even less!Room was clean and tidy, at the top and at the front, right opposite Dominos pizza. It was a very humid, stuffy night and the window was open, which at 11pm, was fine. But, as the night wore on and the late night revellers started making their way home, we found the noise unbearable. Got up to try to close the window but found that the sash window was jammed and broken but that there was an attempt at a double glazed sliding unit in front of it! I have never seen anything so badly botched. Even with this shut, which then rattled, the noise was horrendous. I finally got to sleep at gone 05.45am!!!! Worst night sleep I've ever had.Breakfast was ok and at least the girls serving made us feel very welcome. All in all, an ok stay but certainly didn't think that it was worth the £90+ that we paid

The menu is not too extensive, we're always wary of too big a choice, it's the hallmark of microwaved food. Some very interesting items including spider crab with avacado mousse (my choice) and black pudding scotch egg ( Heather's) I had black bream to follow and H the bouillabaisse, both of which were delicious. The service was attentive and not pushy or over friendly, the wine list has just enough choice without bewildering, the food, we thought, was very impressive and, for the quality, remarkably inexpensive. We look forward to returning.

We visited the White Hart on Day 1 of a cycle trip. The staff were very helpful and the food was amazing. Choice and quality of the evening meals were way beyond expectation as was the breakfast which was exceptional. The contrast? We stayed in room 1 and the walls were so thin between rooms 1 & 2 that you could hear every word. Coupled with being at the front of the hotel on the high street, I eventually got to sleep at 2.30pm. We wondered why the room was so hot and discovered in the morning that the floor was hot. The heating pipes and/or boilers must be directly below. Otherwise the quality of rooms were adequate and good value. If you avoid rooms 1 & 2, you're likely to have a very satisfactory visit!

My companion and I enjoyed yet another first class fish evening meal prepared by Mark , Ellie and their team . All courses were particularly tasty and the flavour of the fish came through beautifully . We chose oysters , tuna carpaccio , lobster and bream followed by a cheese platter . My advice is book early for the next gastronomic treat .

I was lucky enough to stumble across curry night, I love a curry. The choice on offer was great, not the normal pub option of one curry fits all suits no one. I opted for the beef madras and I was not dissaponted, it was hot, but not too hot, full of flavour and was served with ricce, naan and a popadom with dip, topped off with a glass of wine included in the price, I chose to add chicken samosa and extra popadoms. Even the wine that was included in the price was good. Not only as the food good the service was impeccable, the staff were helpful, polite and friendly, what more do you need when you are working away from home and travelling alone. I would definitely eat here again. The gentleman behind the bar could not have been more friendly and his service was fantastic.

We popped in one evening to try it as we're very local. I was very surprised by the quality of the food. It was excellent and well above expectation. The staff were friendly and there was a really comfortable atmosphere - sitting by the fire I wished I had brought a book with me - I could have stayed there all night! We took our 9 month old and they had a highchair for her and it was all very easy, no fuss, no problem. We love it.

My daughter in law booked us in here for Sunday lunch on a recent visit from Plymouth up to Andover. It was chosen for good food and being dog friendly. We were welcomed on our arrival and shown to our table. The staff were friendly but I did find the service to be rather slow. We started off with a sharing plate of cold meats, olives etc. Then we had a longer wait for our main courses. My partner and I decided to have the roast and I did not feel that it was very hot. The pub was busy but that does not really excuse it.The meat and vegetables were very tasty but just not at the temperature I would have expected.

Avoid this place, starters was sort of ok but the recommended award pie had no filling, one of the steaks was so dry, the mains was bought out before they cleared the table after the starters, garlic bread for starters was bought out with the main, beef gravy with chicken pie ? No one offered us for any pudding, customers complaining about the advertised curry and any pint when they ordered the pint it was not on the deal but the deal was any ale. Not even apology shame I had to give it a one star, as we go out a lot on business. One crossed of the list

Visited here for our customary “breakfast Friday” Came here 7 years ago when Pork Pie Sam Aldridge failed the Belly Gut Buster!!! I won’t lie! On that occasion the portion was big but the quality was poor. However this time, I can honestly say it’s one of the best breakfast we’ve ever had!!!! Everything was bang on and we were extremely happy with the offering. Had same great food ( fried bread was on point ) the staff were great and and we were full up like a tin can of crackers after. The apprentice Harvey was so impressed he tried to eat his fingers. And Bald Les took a shine to the lady behind the Eastern European Grol working the till All in All we had a great time, and next time we need a breakfast, some oil, and a hub cap we will be sure to pop in. Cheers and All The Best 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

We booked here as a Birthday Meal and pre warned when booking that in the party we had a Gluten Free Allergy requirement. When booking in at the Restaurant we asked for a Gluten Free Menu. Our order was taken and within the 5 for £20 starters requested 2 lots of GF Garlic Bread. When the starters came out all were on one platter and not separated and after a couple of minutes waiting requested plates to be able to eat/share the food and at this point was told 'by the way the Garlic Bread is not Gluten Free, we didn't have any'. Thankfully my son had not started to eat!!! We then asked for the Food to be taken away and was brought back 10 minutes later as 2 no Gluten Free Buns toasted with Garlic Butter. The main meal of a Burger and Chips came out with the same bun, which was not eaten as already had enough...... Safe to say the 10% added service fee we took off. Very disappointed.

Looks and feels like a pub, with comfy seating and fireplace, but the food was amazing and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. Had a great meal here.

We looked on Tripadvisor when travelling nearby and did a quick detour for lunch and are so glad we did! We (humans and a dog!) received a very warm welcome. I had the rainbow trout and I can honestly say it was the nicest meal I’ve had in a long time, my husband also very much enjoyed his steak pie. It made his day when he realised the fruit crumble was rhubarb as that’s always been his absolute fave! If in the area again we would definitely return!

On a chilly early spring day - after buying onion sets and seed potatoes in this high quality family-run garden centre - we had an early lunch in their warm conservatory café: delicious soup, bread and particularly outstandingly yummy - and large! - cheese scones - all home made. The cheese scones are by far the best in a 10 mile radius of Romsey! The garden centre is also known locally for the wide collection of high quality dahlia plants.
