Went for a evening meal at the White Hart. Very few people eating. There were plenty drinking and one group was particularly loud. My wife ordered calamari, salt & chilli seasoning, lemon mayonnaise. When it arrived there was no seasoning and the mayonaise had no sign of lemon. The batter was dripping in fat as was the onion rings that came with the steak. The skin on chips indicated on the menu were basic chips. The calamari issue was mentioned to he waitrass but she just dismissed the complaint and walked off. This was not a pub we will return to.

Lovely atmosphere Very clean Staff were very jolly and accommodating The only complaint we would have is I had chips and chicken on a wrap I don't think it is worth £9.95 It arrived without the salad Chips weren't home cooked just frozen ones I think for this price you should be looking at home cooked chios My partner had the fish finger sandwich which was really nice but again I think it needs home cooked chips

Called in for lunch, not been here before. Really lovely pub, nicely decorated with plenty of tables of all sizes. Good menu, all food reasonably priced. Food was excellent, the best fish and homemade chips I’ve tasted in a long time, service was great, our dog had a warm welcome too, overall a very relaxed enjoyable experience we will be visiting again soon.

Just come back from lovely meal here at the white hart. Staff 5 stars, friendly, knowledgeable, Food 5 stars we had the garlic mushroom burger and a lasagne. All food cooked beautifully, tasty. Lovely atmosphere. One tip do save room for their puddings, very yummy . Bar well stocked we mainly had ale, but would come back for their wide choice of gins next time.

Lovely pub with very nice staff. It's dog friendly, which is great and the food very very good. The score is 4 stars rather than 5, due to the lack of dark ales. The only cask ales they had were pale ale or pale ale. Everything else was excellent.

I visited whilst staying at a friends nearby. The decor is lovely with separate room for private functions free of charge. Plenty of parking. They provide a good range of draught beer/lager. I ate there on 2 evenings during a hot spell and as a result rhey had run out of some stock. ......bottled fruit ciders. I ordered food that was lovely The pub is part of Punch brewery and think they could do more to help their managers/ staff by supplying stock more often. The website shows kitchen open until 9pm but in fact open until 8pm! This needs updating. I found Lee and his team apologetic for stock shortages etc and went the extra mile for me as a customer. This is a lovely pub with many local customers that deserves to be a success

This is a nice pub with friendly staff and good food at a reasonable price. It's dog friendly as well, which is a massive bonus. The only reason it didn't get full marks was the lack of any dark cask ales. Unfortunately the two cask ales were both pale.

Came here with my friend, lovely warm greeting from the lady behind the bar. We were quickly seated and had our drinks order taken, my friend ordered a fish finger sandwich and I had ordered the steak pie, we were told they had sold out of those so I went for the gammon instead. It was truly delicious. Service was outstanding, we noticed there were a few other diners in, but we were made to feel as if we were the only ones in there! Whatever it is you're doing, keep it up. We will definitely be back.

Me and my daughter came for lunch on a quiet Monday the week before last, we heard it had changed hands and we thought we would give It a try. After reading all of the negative reviews recently, I felt I needed to post a positive one about our experience. We were greeted by a lovely lady, I didn't quite catch her name but she was tall with black hair, wearing a checked shirt (I remember this because I complimented her about it) we were politely told to sit anywhere we liked and she would bring a menu over and take a drinks order, as it's table service (fantastic!) I had the suet pudding and my daughter went for the steak pie. Although we did wait quite a while, there were other diners in at this point and the lady was on her own, we were kept topped up with drinks and were apologised too a couple of times for our wait, we were more than happy to relax anyway. Food eventually arrived and it was great pub grub! The lunch menu is a great price at £7, the atmosphere was cosy and the place is lovely, clean and christmassy. I noticed the lady never stopped finding things to do, which makes a change from seeing waiting on staff in other establishments standing round on there phones ignoring everything around them. We will definitely be back and I hope things pick up for the new owners very soon. Thank you.

Need to hire an actual chef. Food awful. Service requires vast improvement and not when delivering the food, not to throw the plate down and the food going off the plate and onto the table. Gammon was swimming in grease soaking chips. A place never to visit again!!

Online menu different from what is on the menu. Nobody seems to know what is in the dishes when asked told to look online, still waiting for one person to come back and tell me. Very over priced for disappointing food. Had to ask where the food was when we had been waiting a while hardly any other customers to be a reason for the wait. Side came out as we had finished our meal.

We had booked a table for two for an evening meal, and arrived slightly early for a drink. The Timothy Taylor’s landlord was off, so I ordered a Black Sheep which the barmaid started to pour to find the line full of cleaner and no beer. The only other cask ale was Thwaites Wainwright, which came out clear but tasted of vinegar, I should have sent it back but didn’t. I had a Guinness for my second drink, it was stale and lack lustre. My wife had Moretti lager. We chose to eat from the evening fixed price menu at £16 for two courses, the pan fried mushroom starters came out quickly and were satisfactory. The mains arrived shortly afterwards, my wife had halloumi, chips and peas. The halloumi had a thick coating of batter around it, which my wife had to remove to eat the halloumi, which was flavour free and more like sorbo rubber than halloumi normally is; she left over half the plate uneaten. I opted for the sausage and mash and asked for gravy on the side. The sausages were thick skinned, dry and virtually flavourless, clearly cheap ingredients, the small portion of mash was thick and creamy with a crust on it from being kept warm, the small portion of gravy had the consistency of axle grease and needed persuading out of its jug with a fork. Bar and table service was virtually non existent, at no point during or after courses, or when paying, were we asked whether the food or drink had been acceptable. The table waitress spent most of her time leaning on the bar talking, and what appeared to be the manager was busy drinking in a group of customers. I tried to attract the attention of someone to pay the bill but had to go to the bar to get attention. The bill came to £54.40, £32 on the mediocre food and the astonishing sum of £22.40 for four pints of bog standard beer / lager two of which were unpleasant and barely drinkable. Sadly we will not be returning to the White Hart, and I would advise others to give it a wide berth.

I visited here with my partner and his mother and will not be returning. Firstly, the menu online is not the menu you get. The menu given to us was missing several items compared to the menu online which was disappointing as the selection offered was limited. We had to wait for forks as the waiter told us they hadn't any clean. I ordered the scampi, chips with mushy peas. The scampi was cooked from frozen as it was watery, the oven chips were over cooked and dry and the tablespoon of mushy peas left a lot to be desired. The "homemade" tarte sauce looked like it had been made by a butcher with its chopped up chunks of gherkin - that could of held a door open... Then the pièce de la résistance was being unlawfully charged the wrong price. The menu prices given were cheaper than we were charged. When this was pointed out the barman he simply said the pub had changed hands and they were the wrong prices... no reduction made. Two words... TRADING STANDARDS.

Thought we would try this country pub as often pass by. Hadn’t booked so enquired if they had a table for an evening meal for myself, my husband and son. We are a mixed race couple, our son is deaf and has a Learning Disability. We were directed to what seemed like the corner of a bar area on a high table. Not being familiar with the pub we didn’t immediately realise that there was a more appropriate dining area. Told to take a seat and staff would come to us. After waiting a while we realised that locals were coming in and being served at the bar so my husband went to order drinks and was told that a staff member would come to our table. We ordered drinks and enquired about the ‘tikka platter’ for our son. The disinterested staff member said he didn’t know what it consisted of. I asked politely if he could find out. We waited over 45 minutes for the food and at no point were we given an explanation or reassurance that our food would be arriving. My husband eventually enquired and was told by the disinterested staff member that they would be doing it now. Once it arrived the ‘fish’ could only be described as pieces of fish in an over inflated mass of batter and the fries were unpalatable. We were asked at the start of the meal if everything was ok but at this point we’re not really in a position to give feedback. We all left the majority of our meals and I just wanted to leave. No attempt was made to clear our table or ask if we would like desserts or coffees. We went to the bar to settle our bill and we’re not asked if everything was ok, clearly we were not happy. We made a decision to just not return but on reflection I felt that an honest review was needed to highlight such poor customer service and standards.

We live close by to the White Hart Pub it has had a few landlords since we moved here in 2020 but recently has been taken back on by Sean who had it when we first moved in so we decided to go back over for a few drinks. Even though they are running on a small team as all the old team moved to the pub down the road you cant fault the service. They are still providing food and there is a warm welcome when you walk in. They also are making sure the quiz still runs on a Wednesday night which is a great addition and hopefully they can do more themed nights. The pub is back on the market again but hopefully Sean will stay on again as it was at its best when he had it before.

This is our local and we visit at least once a week and have done for the past 2 years, for both food, drinks and the quiz. Please do not listen to any reviews based on attitude of the staff. A cosy pub with outdoor options and function room available. Since Helena and Mark have taken over there has been a massive improvement with food. We used to go just for drinks but that has now changed. There is long standing team which tells you a lot and great to see a familiar face. GAZ, ABI and JACK cannot do enough and are a great laugh. Helena ( the landlady) also organised a quiz night for me which all proceeds went towards my chosen charity which is close to my heart. The nicest thing was i didn’t even ask for this she suggested. Thanks everyone for making the local a great place to go. See you all next week!

Was looking forward to coming here as it was our first meal since lockdown. When we arrived we was waiting for about 5 minutes before anyone acknowledged us, it looked as though there were little staff on. We ordered our food and waited 40 minutes for starters!!! Other tables were also waiting a while for there food as well. It seemed chaos with only two staff which I presume one was the owner, with both running around here, there and everywhere. With customers having to book in advance you would think restaurants would ensure they have enough staff. There was no customer service and had to ask for drinks twice as they forgot. We hadnt been here for a couple of years but decided to come along rather than trogging over to Newcastle. The pub had been taken over by Punch group in the past year which would suggest an improevemnt in both scope and quality of offerings.Unfortunately, this wasn't what we found.I had the 'veggie croquettes' as a starter; these comprised florets of cauliflower and broccoli in tempura coating with a tomtatoe based sauce over the top.The vegetables were not fresh, there was no crunch in any of them. It was evident that these had been bought in and re-heated. The sauce had been poured over the vegetables; it was therefore not possible for me to choose how much to use. There is not a huge range of vegan mains - 2 being jack fruit based; so if you dont like jackfruit or fancy a change from jackfruit then you only have the possibility of Vegan Tagine or Mushroom suet pudding. My wife had the tagine which had the spicy component but did not have the sweet component.I had the mushroom suet pudding which was fantastic; the suet was soft and the filling was very tasty. The fimnal let down was the chips, these were soggy and had the quality of re-heated chips.I discussed all of these issues with teh manager prior to leaving; he inidcated that the problem with the chips had been identified previously and that this was found to be caused by using pre-cut chips prepared externally. All chips are now made in-house; perhaps this was a one off and we were unfortunate to experience a one off. This wouldnt put us off returning but not until the vegan range is extended or one of the jack fruit dishes is replaced by something else,

Staff were attentive, polite, pleasant and took our order in good time, however, we then waited 50 minutes for our food - chicken burgers, lasagne and scampi - which was a little disappointing BUT it was worth the wait as it was absolutely delicious!! The chicken burger, in particular, was a generous portion, crisp and on a proper bun (non of this brioche rubbish). The service is okay but you can be left waiting for service if you want more drinks etc. As I said the rooms are very nice but lacked a but not atmosphere and with the dining being near the bar area if there is a loud voiced person at the bar you could hear the whole conversation. It probably needs a little bit of background music to get over this. But overall I would recommend for a meal out.

After a friendly welcome we were shown to our table but were left for almost 15 minutes before we managed to call over a waitress to ask for a drink. I have to say the service was slow but when the food arrived it was fresh and hot. Our only problem was the fish as the batter was dripping in oil. The waitress did come back and ask if all was ok but my daughter at that point had not cut into her fish. We did mention it tho when the plates were collected and the waitress did apologise. 1st time we had eaten at The White Hart since the refurbishment - we were not disappointed, food as good as always, some great offers on and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. I will be returning again soon. Great job Eric and the team, lovely to have the pub open again.

We thought we would give it a trey after the refurbishment, the atmosphere and decor was nice but the food left us disappointed. The girl who served us was lovely or we would have seriously complained. Not to be recommended

Its back!!! The White Hart, known only to those with real heart as 'The Buck', is back and serving food. Swift polite service. Decent menu choices. And an all too relaxing atmosphere which could see me spending far too much time there.

We had a great time celebrating our daughter’s birthday here on Friday night, the staff very welcoming and accommodating of anything asked of them, especially Charlotte. The food was lovely and can’t recommend enough!. The barn conversion outdoor is a great addition to the pub and is an ideal place to be if you have noisy kids (like us!). Book yourself in if you want well priced good pub food, you won’t be disappointed.

Tried for the first time since refurbishment and loved the new decor which feels really comfortable. Food was good old fashioned pub grub at a sensible price, We tried the lamb flatbread off the specials of the day which was very good and hubby had the bacon chops which was a huge portion and great value for money.

Recently changed hands - menu simple but well presented. Fish and chips simple but better for it with good batter and chips. Beer well kept with a good choice.

Decided to try this place after seeing the extensive refurb ! Big mistake seems more like a self service ! No one seemed to acknowledge us so we sat ourselves! Had to disturb the lady behind the bar who was too busy chatting with what seemed like regulars to order some food ‘ lamb cutlets and cod loin was tasty about the only positive thing of our evening at the white hart ! Will not be returning !!

Went to the white Hart Friday evening for a meal with 5 friends for a birthday celebration ! Restaurant was busy which looked promising ! That's where everything went downhill ! The lady behind the bar was too busy engaged in a conversation with someone she clearly knows ! Seemed to ignore me as I was trying to get her attention to order more drinks as the waitresses were no where to be seen ! After an extensive refurb we thought we'd give this place a try ! Definitely won't be back ! The only positive thing I can say was the food was delicious apart from that ' terrible evening and spoilt what was ment to be a birthday celebration! Won't be returning !!!

We have not visited here for some time due our car being badly damaged in the car park (strangely, the police were told the cctv cameras were not working that night ...mmmm?). We were subsequently aggrieved with the manager's indifferent attitude towards the damage and subsequent hefty repair bill.

We'd been turned away from a couple of restaurants, but at the White Hart they found us a table and made us feel welcome. The food was fantastic, beautifully cooked and large portions. We were really pleased with the service and value for money.

This is our 3rd time of eating here and what a great find it is. Each time we have stayed at Crewe Hall but fancied a change of scenery to eat. We were recommended to eat from a hotel health club member and have enjoyed each of our 3 visits over a 3year period. From the friendly welcome to the excellent freshly cooked food it’s a thumbs up. See you all next year.

4 of us had a meal here for my birthday Sunday 15th July. Last came here a few years ago and it was lovely, unfortunately not so today. We were aware that a Sunday roast was served but this wasn't on the menu we were given and the waitress was unsure of what potato and vegetables were included, neither were we told there was a specials board. The starters were quite nice to be fair. For the mains I chose a bacon and cheese burger which was nothing special and have had nicer for less at chain restaurants. The rest of our party chose the Beef roast dinner, the Beef albeit plenty of it needed to be as it was quite gristly and the Roast potatoes were awful. Disappointed and would not visit again. Has ownership changed?

We dined as a family. We hadn't reserved a table, but this wasn't a problem. The staff were lovely; friendly and knowledgeable. There were several gluten free options among the main courses (also some which could be altered to make them gluten free). I had sea bass, which came with roasted new potatoes, asparagus, confit cherry tomatoes and wilted wild garlic. The fish was perfectly cooked and the whole dish was delicious.

We turned up and our booking had been done for the wrong day, completely our fault! There was 7 of us but Chloe was great helping us to find a table for the 7 of us in the bar area which we were fine with as the bar and restaurant were really busy, so we were very lucky. We had great bar service from Jack, who pulls a good pint. Food was lovely and enjoyed by all, will definitely be coming again. Thanks

We were recently introduced to lite delights! It is a great Deliveroo option, portions are a good size, speedy delivery and has some healthy options too. Burritos, salad boxes and chilli beef nachos are some of our recommendations. Worth a go!
