The White Hart in Huntingdonshire

Had lunch today, opted for the chicken and bacon with mayo sandwich and skinny fries. Very well proportioned and very good. The only downside was the excessively long wait to receive the food.

The fish platter is amazing! Generous portions of smoked salmon, prawn cocktail, whitebait, mackerel pate and salad with aioli and tasty seeded bread. And all lovely and fresh. I was expecting it to be starter size but it was huge! Service was excellent despite the restaurant being busy. The staff were friendly and helpful. Definitely a 5 star lunch!

This is probably one of the best pubs I have been to, predominantly for two reasons. 1. Delectable food, big portions, fantastic flavours and freshly served meals. 2. The ambience of the pub is really lovely, warm and welcoming, very comfortable. The layout of the establishment is unique and inviting, it's a dainty place for an intimate but easy going evening. Staff members were lovely too....it was sure worth the 1 hour drive.

Our first time here and it was great. Portion sizes are mentioned alot in the reviews and they're not wrong. The starters make a lovely light lunch on their own. Moules mariners with warm rolls and oodles of butter, baked camenbert with four types of bread to dip were awesome. Will be back soon for more of that cheese and the fish platter. Fantastic pub. Lovely atmosphere, excellent food.

We went here for our first visit on the way back from NEC. The food & service were exceptional. The sharing sea food platter was exceptional & the steak pie was really tasty & full of tender meat. The veg was all fresh & perfectly cooked. Lady who served us was lovely. Thanks to all the staff tonight. Would definitely recommend.

It’s been quite a few years since I’ve been here, but we decided to come for lunch mid-week. It was excellent. We had the fish platter, and the food was great, service was good, and a pleasant place to relax for an hour or so. I’ll definitely be going again, as just moved back to the area. Many thanks

We came upon the White Hart by accident and we are very glad we did. The seafood platter we shared for lunch was excellent and plenty big enough for the two of us. And very reasonably priced too.

I have been to the white heart before and to be perfectly fair it was very good and the service was reasonably good considering how busy it was... Great portions and reasonably priced. But on this occasion I was very disappointed with the service and waiting time. Upon our arrival we were eventually lead towards a table, then stopped as there were people already seated there. We were left standing in the middle of the aisle while they went to find us another table at least 5 minutes but felt longer, bearing in mind I was accompanied by 4 special needs adults who were very confused just standing there... When we were seated our drinks came fairly quickly, our orders were taken and everyone waited patiently. After 1 hour and 10. Minutes my colleague and myself tried to find someone to ask if our orders were on the way, as our companions were becoming stressed. The young lady we eventually found went off to find out what had happened. She came back visibly embarrassed and said that our orders hadn't been put through and they were working on them now 😧 she immediately offered us complimentary dessert which was nice but the food still took another 20 minutes and was barely warm. Didn't stay for dessert and won't be booking there again.. felt very uncomfortable and undervalued as customers.

Service absolutely dreadful, we waited 1.5 hours for our food to arrive. We visited this establishment for food twice and both times waited for food for over 1 hour!. The staff was not too concerned about our food being delayed either.

Great surroundings, excellent service and beautiful food. Great knowledge of food allergies and huge portions. Prices are very reasonable.

Having had some lovely meals at the White Hart we thought it was good place for my Birthday Lunch for myself, my wife and my elderly Mother in Law. We had pre-booked, although the place was empty, and had received a phone call on the morning to check we were still coming. I arrived first to be greeted in the most unfriendly and rude manner by mature lady wearing glasses. She snapped had I booked and I said yes. I thought she was just having a bad day but her attitude was simply unacceptable. Not a please or thank you not a gracious word. The younger waitresses were very friendly, welcoming and kind. But the more mature lady created a really sour atmosphere. We ordered, and the food took 40 minutes to arrive (the restaurant only had 2 other tables occupied by guests). My food was cold. I went to summon someone over to get it changed but I was already running out of time and the mature lady was not in a mood to be helpful. It only takes one person to spoil an experience and damage a venues reputation. We will not be going back I fear. The mature lady should really put her glasses on and take a lead from the brilliant youngsters that were working so hard to cover for her.

What a fantastic place, first visit, just called in on the off chance after a long drive. Pleasant welcome, and the meal was delicious! Portions very generous great price too. It was v busy so obviously popular place. Looking forward to next visit.

This pub restores my faith in what a good pub should be, the attention to detail, the amazing service, great food, generous portions,proper puds!!!! a proper pub with proper people. It is fully recommended by me

An impromptu meal with a friend tonight at The White Hart. What a wonderful place! A really warm welcome, good choice of food ( both bar snack menu and restaurant menu) and drinks brought to our table. We both chose the beef lasagne with garlic bread and salad…. It was amazing and such huge portions! It was also extremely good value. Thank you! We will return soon 😊

Decided to go for lunch at the White Heart, when we arrived we were greeted by a very frosty (assumed) restaurant manager, we sat for half an hour nobody came to take our order so we promptly left.

The wife and I popped in hoping for a Sunday Roast and thankfully they had a table. The food was fantastic, best lamb I've ever had. The pub looks stunning and the staff were great. A must visit highly recommended.

There was 16 of us this time, all eating many different dishes. Not 1 complaint to be heard from my hard to please friends. The staff were very accommodating and covered every request we made. Food delicious as always, very generous portions. Staff attentive even though it was super busy. I would recommend the White Hart over and over again. Thank you.

This pub has the best food in Godmanchester by some margin. The steaks are particularly great.

Took my family out for a celebration lunch. The Restaurant was very busy. The service we received from Fran, our waitress was superb. Nothing was too much trouble, even though she was rushed off her feet, her smile and helpfulness was a real asset. The food was beautifully cooked, big portions and well presented. Went through Godmanchester on Sunday and stopped by here. They do a great roast. Good sized portions and reasonable pricing.

Went last night for a birthday meal, there were 6 of us and we were all very impressed with the quality of our meals. The staff were all very friendly and efficient. Would definitely recommend.

Excellent food. Service is ok, staff are polite and knowledgeable. Some tables in the bar are a bit too low - get there early to get a table at a reasonable height. The lamb steaks are delicious - and they don't skimp on the meat.

Excellent roast dinner, massive portions, lovely staff and atmosphere. No idea how much it cost because someone else paid - the best sunday dinner ever!

Friendly staff, excellent food and lovely decor. I would have given 5 stars had there been a solution provided to lower the blinds to shade the group from the midday sun. Plant pots in the way.

Went before Christmas and had their set menu. Was so good I booked Boxing Day lunch there as well. The food is excellent as is the service. If I have one criticism is the wait between ordering and courses is a bit long. However, you now know this so don’t go if you are in a rush. I would highly recommend and will return again and again.

Fantastic food and atmosphere for pre Christmas family get together

Arrived for a bar snack at lunchtime- staff took our menu away & said not available today- choose from restaurant menu only. 3 of 4 meals arrived at our table after 45 minutes & we were told “ there is a bit of a delay with the chicken. We have run out & someone has gone to the shop to buy more.” I asked to cancel my order. 5 minutes later the meal arrived & staff said “ someone else cancelled their order- so here is your meal.” We thought that odd- but I began to eat . I realised the chicken was cold in the middle. Staff took it away & returned to say they would “ need to cook the meal from scratch.” I didn’t have time to wait ( meal was “ slow braised chicken ),and all 3 other diners had eaten their meal by then.

Met some friends here for a bar meal, the staff decided we were too cramped where we were and set us up a space at the end of the dining room. The food was excellent but it’s the staff who made and it’s why I always try to visit when I am down in Cambs.

A fantastic meal. One of the best we have had. Service and atmosphere excellent. We had Christmas menu and the turkey was beautiful and moist. I have eaten here before and had sea bass which was equally good. A great place to ear or just have a drink.

Excellent Xmas dinner last night with a group of friends. Even though the restaurant was very busy, the level of service was excellent. The food was of a high quality and portion sizes were very generous. I would thoroughly recommend it.

Service was awful, food Was absolutely disgusting. All round would never step foot in here again. Sat waiting fir 1hr 15 minutes to get served.

A very average restaurant, I would have given it less stars if it wasn’t for the wonderful waitress. She seemed to do everything in the place. There was another gentleman in the restaurant, but he seemed to just stand around doing nothing whilst the young lady ran around doing all the work. It’s incredible she managed to remain extremely polite and cheery. She said her name was Daisy, and I hope she was tipped well that evening. The food was pleasant enough, but very large portions.

We’ve been many times before and the service and food has always been excellent. Tonight however it was terrible. We wouldn’t usually write on here but feel the experience tonight was so bad that we have to and there were no management about. After finishing our starters the waitress who we believed was in charge asked if we were ready for drinks and desserts, we explained we hadn’t received our main meal yet. Within minutes our main meals arrived but the steak meal was all cold. We called the same waitress over and she said she’d get it heated up. When it came back the steak was overcooked and the rest of the food was heated to the point it was inedible. We approached the same waitress to explain this and her response was ‘what do you want me to go about it?’ Her attitude was appalling and we decided to not have that meal. We then asked gif the bill 3 times and she was rude and couldn’t even answer us. I have never been to a restaurant where the person in charge treats customers in that way. We ended up having to wait at the counter for her to arrive and ask for the bill again. We paid and as we left she sarcastically said goodbye. Appalling service and appalling food. I hope this person never has to deal with your customers again. We won’t be returning again and certainly won’t be recommending the white hart to anyone we know.

A really great selection on the menu with a particularly fabulous steak and ale pie. Pudding portions were HUGE and maybe a bit too big for a normal appetite but doggy bags available. Friendly staff too.

After reading positive reviews for The White Hart, my partner and I, along with friends were looking forward to our Sunday roast. Sadly however, we were quite disappointed. Two of us had the roast lamb, which was fine, apart from cold parsnips alongside and a huge tasteless roast potato. My friend however had roast beef, which she had to send back, as completely inedible. The second plate sadly was no better, as the beef was gristly and tough. The desserts I have to say were very nice though. When we came to pay the bill, we had to ask for it to be adjusted, as the waitress did say previously that they would make it right with us! Well, to my disgust all they reduced it by was £7.50 half the price of one of the mains, and no apology whatsoever. I hasten to add we will not be returning to The White Hart for a Sunday lunch!

Went originally just for a quick drink but ordered the bbq ribs platter, was amazing all of it tasted really good, the staff were friendly and helpful, presentation of the food was spot on. Served promptly and were happy to make us food even though the kitchen had just shut. Never been in here before but will definitely return, a very happy customer

Food was ok but not up to its usual high standards, service was really slow and disjointed. Had one meal come out and they had finished by the time last meal came out. 3 hours for 2 courses is not good enough.

We ordered a cappuccino. The staff was really helpful and they gave us our order very soon.

I had a wonderful evening with my friend, I am gluten & dairy free, which wasn't a problem in fact the chef went the extra mile to adapt the mail. I wanted to be dairy free. The menu has many things which are gluten free. I give it 10 out of 10

Absolutely perfect food 😋 and nice pint

Firstly I cannot fault the food, very good particularly the steak. However, when we were there there was a function happening in another room (which we were not warned about) and that pretty much ruined the evening. The service was painfully slow, at times I am sure we were forgotten and I had to chase them several times. The kicker however was that once the function was finished there was a huge focus on rearranging furniture with tables and chairs being moved around. There was no appreciation that people were paying to eat there and maybe it would have been better to rearrange the furniture when everyone had gone. Perhaps a small thought for their customers before they had started may have helped. We were right by the door to the function room which made it worse. Overall good food but poor customer service.

Wow what can I say we had a small wedding meal in the summer room 21 people yesterday it could not have been better, the food was delicious and plenty of it, the staff were great nothing to much trouble and the room was perfect for our small party I cannot give this restaurant enough praise, well done to you all.

I’ve had a couple of excellent meals here from the lunch menu with friends I used to work with, and on the back of these, had lunch at the pub with my wife earlier today. I decided on the ribs platter as a change from the usual lunch options and my wife had the fish platter. Both were excellent. A great variety of items on the plate, well cooked and well presented. They were both excellent sized portions and fantastic value for money. No wonder the tables in the bar area were busy. We will definitely be going back again.

The people were pigs the food was stiff the atmosphere was bad people was talking about us I DONT recommend this if you want to have a nice day 😡

My partner and I came here for some food whilst stopping in Cambridge for the night. We shared a few starters between the two of us - baked camembert, chunky chips, prawn cocktail and garlic bread… there was so much food we were close to bursting. Absolutely delicious! Couldn’t ask for more. We were served by a lad who was being trained, we think it may have been his first day. The girl training him was very patient and seemed to be a natural at teaching and directing, it was nice hearing her being encouraging and taking the time to explain things to him so he understood. He did really well serving us. Would definitely return here, and highly recommend. Amazing value for money and great quality.

Called in on the way down to a wedding. Food was absolutely unreal, best sandwhich I’ve ever had and the fish and chips were such big portions. Friendly service too.

Went in for a pint. Soon chose our favourites. And then to have freshly cooked food ( fish and chips, lasagne, beef curry etc ) available at excellent prices meant we stopped and used the Bar Snack / Mains menu. Thank you chef, the fish ( cod) was absolutely superb. More like a whale actually. We will be back

Came for a birthday meal of 8 people.. the restaurant was very busy and we had to ask to order our drinks, at that time we also ordered our starters and mains. Drinks didn’t come out for 40 minutes which we understood because it was busy.. starters didn’t come out until after an hour - only when asked how long our food was going to be. From sitting down to having our starters it was an hour and a half, by that point the restaurant was pretty much empty and we received our food shortly after which was ok.. very disappointed having been a birthday meal and the service being slow :(

Well what can I say, this place came highly recommended so we booked a table for two, ordered two Sunday dinners, chased the order the first time after 30min the waitress never came back with an update, chased again with different member of staff once again they never gave us an update, then finally after 40 minutes chased order again with 3rd member of staff to be told that they were a few tickets behind and our order would be done soon, we asked how long approximately and were told 20 minutes, we got up and walked out as that would have meant waiting a minimum of 1hr for our food. Another couple sitting next to us did exactly the same as us.

Great place let down by jaw droppingly bad service. No coffee because "I was too busy to make your coffee" 😂

Absolutely love the food here 2nd visit 2delicious meals 6 of us and not one bad meal reasonably priced very clean great social distancing toilets spotless well ladies was staff very friendly definitely my favourite in the area just found my last review and can't believe the difference going again I've had 2 lovely experience and today staff very rude completely ignored even though in there at 12 noon I'd rang every day for a table more than once to constantly get answer machine even leaving message to call back as requested I never got a call back so went in for bar food as have in past as when staff member eventually spoke to me after serving 2 others she knew that came in after us standing at the bar told us no bar food today as not enough staff well my family of 5 and me will never bother going again not worth it

The food is really good, the wait staff very polite, gets crowded at times when ordering drinks at bar but really it’s a quant place.
