The most awful experience i’ve ever had ! I honestly love to eat out with family and only once in my life have I sent food back, ordered a carbonara and my son in law and husband ordered pizza. In all fairness the pizza was very nice but the carbonara was cold in the middle and clumpy which was a sign it was re heated and smelt really gone off, my daughter ordered a chicken burger which came out 10 minutes after all the rest of are food came out even though we ordered it all together, by the time she came to eat we had already nearly finished so was left to eat by herself. I sent the carbonara back due to the facts stated above, it was honestly awful baring in mind there was only 2 tables of four including us. The way the staff treated us was the worst i’ve been treated as well, they apologised for the burger and said was their fault as they didn’t realise it was on the ticket but when it came to the carbonara we where told it was not cold and it was perfectly fine. IT WAS NOT ! while my daughter was finishing her burger everyone was gathered in the kitchen almost staring in disbelief that we sent the carbonara back and not only that but as we where leaving the restaurant the staff were laughing at us. Safe to say from someone that eats out quite regularly the was probably the worst experience yet !

This was a lovely old Inn, delightfully restored, with a warm atmosphere. It was busy for a Wednesday (big book club session going on) and the concern of the landlord !nd his partner was evident. He needn't have worried: we were just worried that we might miss last orders for the kitchen! The dinner was perfect - a very good pizza cooked by the Italian kitchen operation, a hearty Caesar Salad and a tender, moist and excellent chicken burger. The beer was very good, too. This is clearly a popular spot in the village: our Airbnb host recommended the pizzas highly. The atmosphere is friendly, there is a refreshing absence of music, fruit machine and pool table. All in all a five star spot for a comfortable and well cooked dinner, with friendly and attentive staff and very reasonable prices.

Nice pub in a quaint location a quiet and peaceful little town. The restaurant kitchen were very accommodating with the food that we liked and preferred and prepared this exactly as we asked despite this particular dish not being on their menu. We couldn't have asked for more. Great selection of beer to choose from, and all very reasonably priced too! The outside garden area is small with mainly sheltered seated areas and is lovely. Really enjoyed our visit and we'll definitely be revisiting again soon.

We ordered at 8:30 and was told it would be 15-20 minutes for the food. After 45 minutes we chase it up and was told 4 minutes. After a total wait of an hour we left and got a takeaway. Brilliant - ticked every box! From the genuine staff to the freshly baked pizzas - they make the dough, have a huge pizza oven and the food was awesome, hot, fresh and served with a smile. It was my wife’s birthday and they sorted a small cake I bought with me, put candles on it and served it with care. Rare to find a pub like this, clean toilets, plenty of parking and steeped in history. This is how to run a pub. Landlady was young and so helpful, on our wavelength and determined to ensure we had a good evening. She didn’t fail in that and 10/10. A great experience and will definitely go back very soon. We stopped here for Sunday lunch with my girlfriend’s mum. The food was really good, I’ve not been out for a Sunday roast as good as this for years, I think the chef was also one of the ladies that served our table, she was brilliant, very friendly and helpful and the young waitress was very pleasant as well. Sadly, the guy behind the bar (I think his names nick) was very stand offish! He didn’t offer anything near a warm welcome and wasn’t helpful when it came to seating us at a table we’d called to reserve, we just stood there then decided to go and find it for ourselves. After the meal, I went to get another drink but he decided to serve two people instead even though I was there first, with an empty glass! I decided to just go back and wait for the the others to finish their drinks and then leave. Such a shame as the warm welcome mentioned in other reviews was what attracted us but also what caused us to give just three stars.

Nice village pub, food is good depending on who is cooking. Landlord brews his own beers one being "Biship Nick" which I understand is excellent, I prefer lager. The person that Manages the Pub must have had another bad day as she was extremely rude, what her problem is I don't know, but she should not be front of house. I stopped here for a quick visit/drink after running the Stebbing 10 mile race. Very well used by the locals & all very friendly to a visitor. I drink real ales and I saw @ least 3 on show, Adnams Ghost Ship, a local brewed IPA & the one I had which was a red ale(name was connected to Remembrance Day, but can't recall exact title!) which was very tasty indeed!! Nice & smooth. I walked down the road after, to go to the car park, but couldn't find my phone amongst my kit bag!! A local, saw me struggling with clothes, towels etc all over the pavement, offered to call my phone for me!! When we went back to the pub a few minutes later, it was still sitting on a table, untouched, but ringing away. Highly recommended 🍻

It is over ten years since I was a regular visitor to The White Hart and I always had fond memories of the fare and warm welcome we always relieved. The welcome was still there, and some of the items of interest hanging on the walls are the same. Volveremos seguro!

I went last night on Christmas Eve and even the local vicar in there was singing carols having a ball. The food - every time I have had a roast I have always enjoyed this. It's no Jamie Oliver but what it is is a rustic homely old fashioned pub where the locals gather and is value for money. The women on the bar are always welcoming and this is now my local.

Stebbing has a wonderful High Street boasting many old buildings with lovely architecture and were pleased to find it possessed both a corner shop and pub!The White Hart looked beautiful from the outside but on entering things looked very different. Unfortunately, the pub, as previously stated, was very tired and the publican was grumpy on both our visits, appearing as if he would rather be anywhere but there, a polite, warm welcome a courtesy surely if you wish to attract new customers. We had to wait to be served and in the end a lady sitting at the bar went round and served us drinks!! The food was ok, although we only had sandwiches, but shame about the outside space at the back of the pub. With a little attention to tables, chairs and decking, some outside plants, it could be a comfortable area to sit on these warm days, but it was drab and unloved. It felt as if the landlord had given up which is a shame because they are losing valuable trade, so important when public houses in village locations are closing with regularity. It would be a crying shame for this village to loose what is clearly a valuable asset.A cheery smile and welcome would work wonders even without the cosmetic improvements although a more varied menu; a coat of paint, new flooring etcetera inside would go wonders to improving this lovely old building too, so come on Landlord wake up before its too late please as we would like to visit again some time when improvements have been addressed.

Finally I can write this review for this pub! Myself, family and friends used to come to this pub all the time as the staff were great and the food was fab, but in the past year it has gone decidedly down hill, especially the food and menu! There is a miserable landlord (who was there before) and a woman there who thinks she is some kind of chef when clearly she is only there to drink wine and flirt at the bar as we waited ages to be served by her and then to be told how great her Sunday roasts were and turn up to a plate of gravy covered slop!!!! Going past the kitchen we could see the waitress and the woman helping themselves to food and dipping roast potatoes in the gravy directly from the saucepan they served it from - not very hygienic or professional!!!!!It could be a great pub if they went back to how it was and fired some of the lazy big headed staff plus gave the Landlord a kick up the back side! We miss the old pub and grub!!!!

One of the worst places I have ever been in. Dingy, tired interior, with hard uncomfortable seats. But the worst thing - the staff. A man (presumably the Landlord) and a young woman behind the bar were rude and ignorant. We did the only sensible thing and walked out. First and last visit to The White Hart. If this is what passes as hospitality in Stebbing - God help them.

The White Hart is a village pub of the old school. Simple British food home cooked, very reasonably priced. Sunday roasts are particularly good and good value. There is a microbrewery on site, producing Hart of Stebbing ales, and there are also guest beers and ciders regularly. The staff are all efficient and friendly, though it may take you a while to awaken the gentle soul under the grumpy exterior of Nick, the landlord. It is worth the trouble though! There are regular musical evenings and afternoons, and occasional charity quizzes which are great nights out.See you there!
