The White Bear Pub in Barnsley

Delicious food. The mash was lovely but only problem there was only a small amount of it,would have like a bit more but thats the only tiny negative ive got.

Great weekend pub, good for a fun night out with live music.

Went on Barnsley Live. Waited 15 minutes for the bar only to be told that side was cash only even though there where no signs to say as much. My wife spoke to the bar supervisor and he was very rude and did not care. Won't be returning

The cutlery and glasses were dirty, looked at 3 different pairs on knives and forks and they were all dirty and which the waitress said it was just water stains, this was not the case however as tey felt very gritty, their glasses were covered in red speckles near the glass top (could have been lipstick) but just goes to prove that they don't do the washing correctly or check it afterwards. This is very poor not to mention the quality of the food from the last 3 times this time however wasn't bad. I will never be going again even if someone paid me! This place should be shut down for food and hygiene and they should employ better staff who's cleanliness and friendliness is far better. I WILL NOT BE GOING AGAIN! EVER!

Delivery driver didn’t have my actual address I had to go out my house and find him at the end of the street, the food was sat on his seat in a clear bag, the food was flat cold, there was missing items also paid £40 for food that was flat cold and items missing

Food presentation was just like eating in the restaurant. All arrived on time and was still nice and hot!

It’s a great little pub and we love the live music on a Wednesday, but we thought the food was pretty average and a little on the expensive side for what it was. The chips were very nice though, 10/10 for the chips.

Amazing food, we come here regularly, I have to thank Abbey, Josh and James, plus the boss, I need to have a kids meal instead of a full meal, burgers are amazing, Sunday Roast, small Medium & large, are amazing, the food is hot when it comes to your table. I have recommended The White Bear to everyone I know. The scampi is amazing along with the crispy chilli beef, squid is lovely and tender. The fish and chips are amazing, We wouldn't want to go anywhere else. Thank you.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was a bit average but nothing essentially wrong with it. Overall, good value for money.

Busy venue due to Christmas Market being on. At least five deep at the bar, only two staff serving...very poor staff management. Bar staff (possibly manager) chose to serve friends rather than customers who had been queuing for some time. Quite rude and very little positive customer service.

Good real ale, staff need more training on how to serve. Not their problem, its a management issue. However I managed full pints on my visit.

Lovely food. Bit packed, but it was a saturday night, so absolutely understandable. Will come again.

Always excellent service by staff who provide great service. Unfortunately I sometimes have had to wait a little while to be served, which is the only downside. There's always an awesome selection of punk/hardcore/metal bands on a Wednesday.

We were on a girls weekend...we ordered our drinks....we ordered gin and tonic ..and vodka and coke... My gin was served I a pint glass no ice or lemon..when I asked the barman for another glass he was rude ...very unfriendly..I then asked for ice and he said they didn't have any .... It's a bar with great music but this member of staff let it down... Not the cheapest place so would not return ..

I was here having a drink I finished my first drink and went to order my second and they refused i asked why and ignored me completely a woman and security then asked me to leave I then questioned the reason and then they said because I'm not from here the security started to push me and said a racist remark

Nice enough busy matchday pub. Really for home fans but we got in before the bouncers were on the door and spent a couple of hours in there.

Usually the white bear is good, but the last visit had 'out of place' music blasting out so loud no one could speak. Looking around at other groups it seemed like no one enjoyed it. Hopefully this is a one-off experience.

Went I to watch football on sky and at half time told manager had taken till off. Nobody asked if we wanted another drink. Diabolical. Why have sky sports and close the bar at half time. Barman took glasses away as soon as you had your last slurp. Never had hence to put them down. Worst pub in barnsley. Had to sit there and listen to swearing for 45 mins. Partner said no toilet roll either ! Have complained to head office also

Friendly atmosphere, fair enough prices for the current climate, space to sit and quiet enough to have a chat. The only downfall was the length of time it took to get served in the first place.

Disappointing response over messages in regards to an enquiry regarding a deposit. Would not return due to the pub not responding to messages and not being honest.

Sister pub the court house illegally took my mates id then banned her from that pub and this one for calling her dad to get it back

Was busy but was served fast as it was well staffed. Plenty of room and places to site, drinks seemed quite pricey unless we were charged wrong, pint of cider and a larger shandy was just shy of £10

Just been to a wedding buffet and the food and service were superb.the best buffet food I have had in many years.

Beer OK. They is no food at the moment till they get a head Chef.

Great pub with a nice atmosphere and friendly service provided , although prices are high over £3.00 a pint of beer , £1.90 in chennels 200 yards away at time of writing may change again .

Friendly fast service and beautiful food

Happy staff, good prices and already got there Halloween decorations up. Commitment! Popped in for a drink on way back to our hotel after a disappointing meal out somewhere else. Would recommend it’s a lovely quiet and COVID secure venue in the heart of Barnsley.

The white bear has incredible staff, they are following all the guidelines and made us feel extremely safe on our night out after bad experiences else where in town. We had a good laugh with the barmaid amelia

Ordered food at 12:50 with my partner and 2 kids... not that busy regarding people eating yet we STILL haven't had our food served. It's now 1:50 ...One angry/hungry child. Not recommended for food at all. At the end, the food wasnt even cooked! 3 people left also

The experience at white bear was excellent especially the hospitality received from the bar maid kaitlin who was very welcoming and enthusiastic. Place was very clean and had a good atmosphere

Friendly bar staff always looking around and making sure you never have a empty glass, constantly cleaning.
