The Whistling Wren in Wigan

Coming to the whistling wren was a last minute plan for me, my wife, and little girl. Absolutley brilliant from the moment we walked in. Amy and abbie, took the time to explain to us about the allergies and shown us how to check them on the website as our girl has a dairy intolerance. Service was superb and so was the food and drinks.

As a united women season ticket holder we always come in the whistling Wren before the matches always great food & service

As a gluten intolerance person I felt safe in the knowledge that I could actually eat something, I was given all relevant information and the specific menu for my requirements.

As always service is amazing,love it here Ross and his team Any and Elle are always accommodating and nothing is too much trouble I took my sister for pre birthday lunch,table was booked and banner put on table Also brought out fudge cake with candle without asking Food is always tasty and overall a good place to go Service is always with a smile

Steph was our server over Christmas, she was great, chatty and helpful.

Food was alright, gammon tasted like it had been griddled in old burnt oil. Good portions, lovely staff.

Our server Steph was very accommodating and friendly and went out of her way make our evening pleasant .

So I would love to tell you that the food was good but i wouldn’t know, we went in and it was dead, firstly sat 10 mins without a waitress coming over, it was only when i got up to order at the bar i was told to sit back down and they would be over to take our order - our drinks came but 20 odd minutes later still no food, there must have only been 3 tables occupied. We gave it 5 more minutes then got up and left. The only thing i can say is that the waitress seemed nice enough.

Had a Christmas meal there the food and service were excellent

We came for Christmas Dinner. We had a great table and the place was not too busy which made it more comfortable. The service was done in good time and Gemma always ensured we were happy and had drinks when needed. Food was delicious, it was nice to have a vegetarian option that was not mushroom based as that seems to be the preference for a lot of restaurants which is unfortunate. May consider next year if the menu is suitable. Thank you.

We were looked after by Steph and what a joy that was. From the moment we walked in until the moment we left we were made to feel welcome.what and absolutely wonderful Christmas lunch this was. The food was top class and nowhere near the food you get in a pub in Leigh, I'd have thought this was a Michelin star experience, which I've had! Super fantastic from beginning to end. The only fault is I'm now slouching on my sofa feeling too 🌝 my issue not yours The best place to eat in the area without doubt Merry Christmas to Steph and her colleagues and we'll done 👍

The service and staff are so helpful and friendly could not fault..I visit on leigh leopards match days but also recently visited for food 😊 and it was lovely. Also I have visited with my dog on numerous occasions and they have a snack doggy menu and thw will come outside and bring a bowl.of water for the dogs and did with mine without Any problems. I highly recommend the whistling Wren also with kids as they have a play area in and outside of the pub. Love this place ❤️

My wife and I have just had a perfect Christmas experience with the Whistling Wren. It has been nothing short of perfect. Steph catered for our every need, ensuring we had a perfect day. The supporting staff, whether serving our food or drinks were equally respectful. The food was delicious; our compliments to the chef and their team. Easily the best in Leigh. We live close by and we will return. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Me and my sister and son have been for breakfast with santa and have stayed to make pizza with santa. The staff are all lovely and abbie has done an excellent job will be back next year .

Myself and my daughter visited for the Pizza with Santa event. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, the pizza event was a really unique idea and it was great to get a picture with santa and a gift. My daughter loved the whole experience. Shout out to Mrs Claus for being very attentive to all the children and our lovely server Abbie!

Have not been for a number of years. It has definitely improved with food wise for the better. My steak was perfect.

We came in for pizza with Santa. Greeted by our server Abbie who was fantastic. Great with our grandson and made us all feel welcome. Another thank you to Santa mrs Claus and santas elf. Thank you for taking your time out your unbelievably busy schedule to call by the whistling wren and make our grandsons day. All in all absolutely fantastic

Service could have been faster. Possibly affected by a "Gender Reveal" function taking place at the same time. Service by a very personable young man who was quite a new recruit.

I've not been in for a long time and it looks the same as previously. The drinks still seem a little overpriced when you are paying £8 for two soft drinks, but could be worse I guess. The food was just average pub food, gammon was chewy but then it was somewhat overcooked. Didn't complain as they were run off their feet. However when I went to pick my handbag up off the floor I was given the ick to see the snail / slug trails all over the carpet. Surely they would be gone when the place is cleaned but there were a LOT. Hard to capture on a photo but took a couple to try and capture it.

Service was good, waiting staff were really nice and helpful, food was mostly good however the fish fingers were horrible, soggy and tasteless. Would return, just not have a fish finger butty unless you provide better quality fish fingers. Mixed grill very generous. Bit of a walk from the car park if you have limited mobility

Cracking pub with fantastic staff and a lovely atmosphere. Classic pub food done well. I'm already looking forward to going again.

Extremely good although my unfortunate feel of being unwell. The staff member Gemma was very kind and gave the kids a fun game to play. Very enjoyable

Fabulous, they managed to fit me and the kids in on a busy Saturday tea time having not booked a table, where some places may have just turned us away. They did need the table back for a later booking and so Steph our server was amazing, she got our food pushed to the front of the queue in the kitchen to get it brought out. When it arrived the food was great, good portion sizes and my eldest really enjoyed the Mac 'n' Cheese. 5 stars all round 😀

Very busy but service and food was still fantastic. We weren't kept waiting at any point and the waitresses were still attentive! Food was tasty and cooked to perfection.

Went for early evening meal Thursday 5/12/24. Casual and relaxed atmosphere, food always good and staff always pleasant and efficient. Excellent table service from Jason. In my opinion good value for money. We’ve been many times before and will be going again.

After Women football( 5 deaf peoples) went to Whistling Wren for festive meal( already booking) our foods is wonderful meals from 1-3 course . delicious foods thank chef, Friendly staff/Manager, Enjoyed this day..We will back anytime.

Busy after Man Utd game, but seated quickly and drinks brought quickly also. Food arrived soon after order, hot, good portion and good quality. Steph was a great "server". Efficient, friendly and great advert for the pub.

Went to the Leopards Breakfast, really magical morning kids loved it great idea hope they do it again next year. Also thought the service was great.

Very friendly atmosphere with a great menu choice. Ample car parking within about 10m from the entrance. We decided to try this restaurant for a lunch, as it was local and I knew of its location well, right next door to the Leigh Centurions Rugby ground. A petrol station with electric car charging facilities is across a small road, which is great for those needing this facility. It was a busy lunchtime. We were greeted immediately and quickly chose our table and sat down. Our server, Steph who was pleasant and efficient, was with us quickly and took our drinks order. On delivery of the drinks our choices for our meal were taken after ensuring we had no allergies. The meals were great value and very tasty. An excellent service also helped us quickly decide that we would definitely return again and indeed provide this review. Thoroughly recommended.

We had a lovely meal at the wren, good quality food we was told was done by chef Debbie, which I dont think the chefs get enough credit sometimes. Service was outstanding up front with Gemma who made us feel very welcome and was very friendly

Never had an issue. Staff have always been friendly, welcoming and helpful. Always recommending meals, activities and promoting upcoming events. We came this afternoon and left looking forward to Mrs Claus looking after the kids on Boxing Day

I attended with a colleague and 2 disabled gentlemen we care for. They have both physical and mental disabilities including being non verbal. The staff were patient, friendly, extremely accommodating and very kind towards us all, this is not the kind of reception we have everywhere. It was lovely to sit down and have a proper meal with them and not feel rushed or in the way.

I had my dad's 80th Birthday gathering at The Whistling Wren and from start to finish Ross, Beth and the team were fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble. The buffet was amazing and there was plenty of it, everyone in the party commented saying how beautiful the food was. They gave us the use of a speaker to play background music which was a nice touch and the family even had a bit of a sing song and played guitar. Overall we had the best evening and everyone left saying how much they had enjoyed it........Thank you guys it was perfect, keep doing what you are doing 😃

Booked table for2 my wife's steak was passable mine uncooked. The staff took it back. It was so long bringing it back mywife had eaten hers. what abirthday celebration. Called ameal for 2 never go there again. Please dont insult me. I did not swear to your staff. I ordered a sirloin medium to well done. Not rump. It was raw with blood on the plate. Sorry i refused ur offer of compensation. It was a special birthday and ur chef completely ruined it
