Visitó pepper lane chippy y wow la comida era deliciosa le recomendaría encarecidamente probar su pescado fresco el rebozado era tan ligero y crujiente sin duda volveremos a visitar pronto para probar otros artículos en el menú el personal era amable y también servicial

Esta solía ser una gran tienda de patatas fritas, ahora es una comida terrible muy mala caro e incomible! No lo toque con un poste de barcaza nunca lo visitará de nuevo

We travel miles for our little treat. We sit outside in the car with the freshest fish and chips I’ve had, on a tray they provide, and it’s always cooked to order. The staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble.. if you haven’t been.. Why not? Delicious !

Really nice place for a good fish and chips. I saw they did a gluten free option for the fish so decided to ring through about 20 minutes before I arrived and they where more than accommodating with the request. Sure enough when I arrived they completed the rest of the order. Really good crispy batter on the fish and the chips weren't greasy at all. The price is the only issue but even that isn't enough to put anyone off this place. Would recommend.

First time at this chippy . I’m recently diagnosed Coeliac and found out via Facebook that Pepper lane chippy catered for gluten free , staff where so helpful, I got mixed up with ordering and they still made sure I had what I asked for , lovely food really enjoyed and will definitely be back ! Highly recommend, loads of parking too and so clean and tidy !

We live in Bootle, Liverpool and only ever get our fish and chips from Pepper Lane which is a half hour drive as to be honest there isn't anywhere closer to us in any direction that gets anywhere near the quality of this chippy! I'm an ex commercial fisherman who is very fussy about fish quality and freshness and can honestly say this is an absolutely amazing standard of food! From the clean cooking smell when you walk in the door, the friendly staff and the perfect cooked food I would really recommend anyone local or those of you traveling to give it a try!

Is was working in Standish around teatime today. So I called in for fish and chips before I headed home to longton. Really nice fish and perfect chips. I don't understand some if the reviews saying that the place is expensive. Well it's not expensive we'll worth the money.

Piensa que el nuevo dueño como solía ser bueno ahora no es así. Pedí papas fritas, guisantes y salsa y dos pasteles de carne como pasteles solían ser buenos. Tengo Chips guisante y salsa, sí guisante no puede llamarlo guisantes tan apretado con ellos ella estaba entrenando a alguien y puso una línea de guisantes y créeme que es todo lo que tienes. La salsa era demasiado espesa e insípida y las patatas fritas eran horribles y tiraban la mitad. Solo tenían un pastel de carne, ¿puedes creerlo? Y fue cocinado en el microondas sin preguntar y tirado la mitad de eso también. Tuve que conseguir un budín de carne, ya que no había suficientes pasteles Yuk secos e insípidos tiraron todo. También caro y cobrar una fortuna por un arrastre de vuelta sin previo aviso. No volveré.

Only called in as was going to the bakery next door. Chips were edible enough, but £3.50 for a chip 🍟 barm was excessive for the amount you get. Previous only gave it 3 stars because of the state of the car park entrance but now its been put right so it now deserves 5 stars. The quality of the food is excellent, the staff first class and the prices are reasonable. One of the best if not the best chippy in the North West.

Good quality F&C - Good portion size and pleasant staff. Stopped in the car for a chippy tea and was pleasantly surprised. Fish was sweet and very fresh, good chips and excellent mushy peas. Highly recommended - and I'm from Scarborough!

Nice food. Spotlessly clean. Service with a smile. Been going here for 15 years. Totally recommended. I do wish the staff, as opposed to the lovely owners, would take on board the balance of 'a few chips and more peas instead' of charging top for both. This keeps me away. Ten chips is not a full portion. This is not the only chippy that does this. The owners recognise so why not staff?

We couldn’t fault our visit, staff are lovely and friendly there’s always a brilliant atmosphere! Food is phenomenal and if we’re ever fancying a chippy this will always be the one we head too! Would definitely recommend to try if you haven’t already 10/10!

Ordered fish and chips and peas for a group of friends on Friday. Called to collect, order was ready to p/up and pay for. Chips and fish delicious everyone was happy. Great staff pleasant atmosphere. Definately recommend.

£3 for a small portion of chips! First and last time. I literally get 3 times more for 60p less from Yu Hing in Coppull.

I went into this chippy ,but the ladies behind the counter were rude ,dismissive and the whole energy in the place was awful,,,the food was ok ,,i just feel sorry for the owner ,your staff are really letting you down,terrible customer service and that does really matter !!!,,i definitely wont be returning,,staff meeting may be in order ,,,,,,shame really ,,,

Went in this evening the 3 girls behind counter was very pleasant, did me 2 lightly battered fish and they was both splendid, what a lovely atmosphere singing along to the Christmas songs in the chippy, thanks girls will definitely be coming back soon. Xx

Would usually give this place 5 out of 5 but very disappointed with todays offering.went within 5 mins of opening at lunchtime thinking everything would be fresh and hot. However not the case.Tasted and appeared to me to not be freshly cooked Certainly not the usual standard we are used to so only based on todays offering its a 1 star for food Never use any other chippy as this one is so good.Shame today's not up to scratch

Superb quality fish and chips and a sensible price.

Went in to treat a pensioner couple to a bag of chips, £3 for a tiny tray with 1 scoop of chips not even a descent amount in a bag. They buy in sacks so cheaper than buying at supermarket which can be 99p a bag most other Chippies charge that for a large bag with tons of chips in a portion what a greedy owner

This is simply the best chippy in Wigan! I've been going there for 5 years and the chips are excellent. Great service from friendly staff. 5 out of 5 stars!

Been here many times but today was very disappointing. Both the fish and chips were bland and tasteless threw most of it away.

Absolutely fantastic, stagg are very friendly, always made to feel welcome. Food is so tasty, Hubby had fish and chips and he absolutely loved it. My granddaughter had cheesy chips with gravy which she loved. And I had sausage chips and gravy, which was so tasty. The portions were good too and reasonable prices too, Definitely filled our hungry bellies. I'd defy recommend this chippy.

Stopped off the other day with my hubby and little lad who has special needs the staff were lovely and we had the best fish and chips we've had for ages.sat outside in the seating area and he enjoyed every last bit. Will deffo go back soon.

Visited this 'chippy' many times before and rarely been disappointed.this latest visit was no exception but a little different. This was a sign of the times with social distancing in a longer than usual que in the pouring rain. Worth the wait though! Lovely fish and chips,and mushy peas - the perfect combination - better than usual I'd say. Always a popular takeaway,and I can see why.will return again pretty soon. Review updated: 02/06/2023. Consistently good, best for miles.

We live in Abram and therefore for many years we ate ours in the car outside the chippy rather than take them home and become soggy and unpalatable. A considerable travelling distance, but we were prepared to travel around 14 miles for the normally brilliant quality of the product. Things I am afraid have deteriorated substantially. The cost of our meal was normally around £13 for two portions of fish chips and one large carton of peas for me, I was astonished to be charged £19 for the exact some meal, what was even more of a disgrace is the fact that the chips are now served in an ultra small tray, at least halving the past portion size and the fish portion reduced and poorly cooked. Pepper Lane chippy has now lost our custom for ever we will not return to a chippy that was once the best in the Wigan area. We could almost understand the price increase due to the state of our nations finances, but the flagrant reduction in the portion sizes is really a step too far, you have let your customers down and are trying to scam your clients.

The staff are lovely, and the place is spotless. But I don't understand the hype. I have had better fish and chips. However, the curry source was very nice.

Genuinely one of, if not thee best Chippy around Wigan . Staff are a joy, bubbly and very helpful. This place is popular and gets very busy at times so please be patient and nice to the staff. We have family members who are gluten intolerant and we really struggle around Wigan area getting GF chippy food. We always pre order as GF food is only cooked on the hour and it's always worth the 20 mile round trip and popped into a freezer bag guarantee to stay hot until we reach home. However nice change very recently in that Pepper Lane Chippy have bought trays to loan out if you want a posh 'dine out' experience lol and you can eat in the car or on the seating outside. Top notch food GF and standard batter is mouth watering, great staff, well worth the travel and also the wait if it's busy.

I'm not the type of person who normally reviews on a regular basis but having called in Pepper Lane Chippy today totally by accident (got lost going to M6) I ordered their Gluten Free Chicken Goujons. I have to say they were absolutely gorgeous. I will definitely be returning.

Whilst travelling home we tried to call twice to order gluten free fish. We decided to turn up as they had not answered the phone. When we got there we were told "We don't do gluten free fish after 6". I'm not sure why as there has never been a problem before. Very sad that we won't be visiting again as this had been one of the top spots in the north west for us to visit. We went to J Seas in Chorley instead. Yum!

I was recommended pepper lane chip shop by a friend, really glad she did to, we don't live locally but it's definitely worth going, we eat them in the car and now go regularly, fish is nicely battered and really fresh, chips are really tasty neither the fish not the chip's are greasy, and taste like fish and chips used to, large portion we share one between the two of us also the ladies will split them into two trays for you, all the staff are very friendly and helpful,

We're lucky to have a few good chippies around the Chorley area. Pepper lane chippy though is just that bit better (& has been since opening) than it's rivals.

Smashing This is one of the best chip shops I have ever visited. They are definitely amongst the best in the country. I drive a recovery truck and have tried many chippys up and down the country. I don't always comment but if the place is good I like to share with others. If you've got nothing good to say then say nothing is my motto. The ladies who run the place are friendly. They all work together well and the food is made with love. The chips are delicious exactly as I like them the fish is fresh not frozen and you can taste the difference batter is crisp fish is flaky and moist service is with a smile and quick. Excellent 10 out of 10 if you ever visit the area you must pop in.
