Food was good we felt service was poor although that was perhaps because we weren’t made aware that staff take a break at 2.30 pm to 3.30pm

Visited this establishment on Saturday and the food and service was fantastic. The tall blonde girl with glasses who was serving us could not do enough for us and really made our night very special. Would highly recommend

Just wanted to leave a review to focus on an amazing staff member! Kim is amazing! Always welcoming with a smile and incredibly helpful. She consistently goes the extra mile to ensure a great experience every time I visit the Bowling Green. The food is always fantastic, and it’s the perfect spot to come after work for delicious meals and drinks. Such a great atmosphere!

Had the braising steak with creamed mash. Felt I was in heaven Just the best 😊

Stopped for some impromptu food, with no prior knowledge. All I can say is wow! I had the lamb and mint pie. Simply stunning and well worth the calories. My wife had the Cajun chicken and that was awesome. For the money, we had a great feed. We were not local, but felt really welcomed. All I can say is BOOM and try the pie!!

Shows on website is dog friendly and was advised of someone near by to go there as was dog friendly. It’s not, walked in was told no dog’s allowed. Apologies it wasn’t on your website it was on the google. Was just a bit misleading and with being advise to go there we looked on line and seen dog friendly but it means outside. Thank you for explaining was just a bit rubbish travelling only 20 Mins with the dog, review amended down to customer service 😊

Food was good. Couldn't order a drink with my meal without going to another service point, I'm not sure why that was, when I was ordering food. Service was quick and efficient. Customer demographic was, I'll say, a very mixed bag! I gave an extra star for atmosphere because I was able to make small talk with some like minded people, thankfully.

The food was really good and prices were very reasonable. We will definitely be back.

We didnt eat there but the food being served look great. It was clean has a large beer garden and the lady that served us was very nice.

The service was great very pleasant and helpful staff. Large potions too much for me ,clean venue and the garden area which we sat after out meal was big and spacious ,will certainly give them anouther visit

Great pub which sells proper homemade food, Sunday dinner was delicious and generously sized. We was able to watch the match while eating too which was added bonus, staff are polite. I highly reccomend this pub. Kid friendly and large beautiful outdoor space.

Firstly the food is amazing, always fully enjoyed whatever I've ordered. That being said, the portion could get a bit bigger. Not a pub guy so atmo for me was meh but overall great place, especially if you like watching sports at a pub with grub.

Absolutely banging food. The specials are always top notch and usually my go-to (see picture), but the set menu is amazing too. Major props to the chef/s for constantly putting out amazing flavour profiles on a regular basis, always keeps me and my family coming back!

Had lunch at the bowling green today, food good, found the drinks expensive, the staff were lovely and attentive, unfortunately it was ruined by the manager who took it upon himself to reprimand a member of his staff standing by the side of us, he was so rude to her, absolutely shocked, maybe some training is needed so he can learn how to speak to people without a bad attitude,

Food was gorgeous, atmosphere brilliant, lager cold, staff attentive.

I was part of a group of people dinning there, considering this the meals were served quickly with very helpful staff.

Our first visit to The Bowling Green. We entered via a door from the car park, which by the way is quite a large car park with a big beer garden. The waitress quickly identified that we had never been before and explained how to order and where to order, etc. Drinks are ordered and paid for separately at the bar. Food is ordered and paid for at a till away from the bar. I think this is a good idea. We ordered 2 x The Bowling Green Special Baguette that came with chips and a side salad. It's was very tasty indeed. I had a glass of house red wine, which was good. We shared a dessert of Apple Caramel Cobbler with custard. This was also very nice. My partner would have preferred the custard separate from the cobbler so she could decide how much custard to put on. Perhaps she should have asked for them to be separate when she ordered. To finish off my meal, I had a Cappuccino. It came with plenty of chocolate on top, just how I like it. Our bill came to £36.60. The place was very clean and tidy. The staff were very friendly and helpful. As soon as the tables had been vacated, staff immediately cleaned them (sprayed then wiped down and reset for the next customers).

the food from here is brilliant! over the years i've come here a good few times! the specials board is great! hope the do the duck bao buns again but all food and drink is great!

Good variety of food on the menu. Decent prices. Everyone enjoyed it. More pea wet than peas in my mushy peas though! But tasty x

We came here for our works Xmas party.this was my very first time of visiting nevermind eating here,and all I can say I'd definitely come again and I would recommend this place to anyone.the food was absolutely amazing,so hot and definitely filling.the service was superb,the staff so polite . definitely give this place 100%.well done to everyone who works here.

Back again on a Monday, My food was nice but the Mrs had fish and chips.The batter on the fish soggy and the fish wet not flakey as it should be.Kids in restaurant loud and un supervised.

Visited for one quick pint after visiting a much talked about fish & chip shop in Leigh & a trip to Bents Garden centre. Did not eat here but the beer was good & refreshing on a very hot day

A lovely place which serves a lovely pint of Guinness, and great food. Just called in for a glass of wine, very welcome place has always.

I can see why the food gets good reviews here. We got a last minute table for a late lunch and had 5 really good meals for a very reasonable price. The classic burgers are well cooked and had wonderful onion rings with a very light batter. The Cajun pasta was creamy and spicy and the gammon came with a beautifully caremelised pineapple, the fifth meal was a traditional roast which had very nice fresh veg and a generous portion of roast beef. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area. 😁👍

Both my Wife and I used to live up the road from the pub in 1968, and it was our local. A couple of months ago we called in for some food. It is absolutely fantastic the staff are first class it is sometimes busy but they always try to fit you in. We had Roast diner last Saturday it was excellent. Thanks to all the staff.

Went in on sunday 26 March 2023 for lunch for the first time, but never seen a bunch of none accommadating staff, with no manners and an attitude. Upon arrival, we were sent to our table, but not advised that we had to order drinks at the bar and food at the hatch. I asked the tall blonde member of staff for two lattes at the food bar and she replied, "you dont get from here in a bad attitude, you get them from the bar". I said, oh sorry, I haven't been here before so I didn't know that. She just walked away with no manners or thanks. She needs to learn some customer service skills as she was very ignorant, rude and miserable. The food was lovely, but the staff were awfull....makes me not want to go there again!!

Plenty of parking nice friendly atmosphere good food and drink

Booked for a table of 4 a week ahead and specifically asked not to be seated anywhere near the door as its v drafty and cold as people walk in & out of the pub. Was told it wouldn't be a problem. On the night when we arrived the table we was offered was right next to the back door and was a bit small for 4 people we asked again if we could be seated at a different table away from the door as they said they we fully booked and had no other tables except that one we kindly left and had a v nice thai meal up the road instead. Their loss. We may go back again we may not. More than likely we may not as there are 100s of other places locally we can have dinner at . Good luck

We ate here on Friday it was my mums 80th birthday and they were fantastic allowing me to bring in a balloon for her early and put on her table and leave a cake to be brought out. They couldn’t have helped more. Very accommodating and so friendly and food was awesome as usual as was beer 🍺 thank you guys

Just popped in with a friend for a drink and catch up, lovely atmosphere and the food smelt very nice will eat in there next time,very busy so need to book.

Went in whilst waiting for my other half. Had a drink. Friendly staff.

Had the cheeseburger quesadillas and they were phenomenal! Very big portions tho could possibly offer 2 sizes ! Very busy pub had to wait for a table but that just shows how good it is! Drinks good price too.

We went to the bowling green a week ago . With my daughter and her partner .we all had different meals but everyone was very happy with their meal .we will be going again today for sunday lunch . Will report again on this pub . we enjoyed it so much last week .

Enjoyed our lunch not a large menu but good pub grub l had Hunters chicken and I've got to say it was one of the nicest one I have had my friends had the braised steak and they Enjoyed it and not to pricey staff very friendly would recommend you book as not many tables if I'm in the area l would definitely make another visit
