We visited late September 2024 to celebrate my father’s birthday. Was not disappointed! Greeted by extremely friendly and welcoming staff (who also made a lovely fuss of our cocker spaniel) and we all had Sunday dinners. Food was exceptional. I had the lamb which was cooked to perfection by Clare and incredibly tasty too. Will certainly be returning!

Love this pub! One of the best places for Sunday dinner in the lakes! Special thanks to Claire who makes every visit an enjoyable one! See you again on Sunday!

Me and my partner decided to go here for our dinner this evening after being before and having a pleasant experience .However, this time we were extremely disappointed with the roast dinner. I ordered a roast chicken dinner which came as 2 chicken drumsticks .We got 1 roast potato which was disappointing and also no yorkshire pudding - we had seen everyone else with roast dinners sat by us with one. Very little mash and 1 carrot. We also recieved broccoli in a cheese sauce which was drowned with oil. On a positive, my partners lamb was tasty ! Very disappointing experience tonight as we live locally- will not be returning.

Pizza on Saturday was fantastic the best pizza i have ever had. There must have been a change of chief in the week because on Wednesday it was good. This pub is excellent and the staff are lovely they can't do enough for you. The monkey patience beer is a great beer and a must try.

The Whistling Pig Staveley Hi - I stayed at Windermere C&C Club site in this month for 11 nights. It was a great bonus to find it had a pub onsite in the form of the Whistling Pig, with lovely staff too. I loved it and Clare and staff were lovely and very good at their jobs. Martin

The quality of the food and the service from the friendly staff is second to none. We visited as a family on Father’s Day, it was quite busy and Roasts were on the Specials’ Board and a great selection of meats which are all sourced from the local butchers. We had the Chicken, Lamb and Ham and I’ve got to say it’s the best roast around - the veggie sides and extra gravy (I always want extra gravy!!!) were hot and delicious. Staff always go the extra mile to make sure all food arrives together and you’ve got everything you need. Would highly recommend and we’ll definitely be going back.

Cold and smelled of dogs on arrival. Waited ages to be served and the waitress was more interested on who was at the bar rather than taking our table order for 10 people. Food was very salty and the steak pie in particular was terrible. Every meal as standard/basic or frozen style food. The whole place is run down and miserable. We went off trip advisor reviews as well on a visit to the area and wished we hadn’t. Go to The Pheasant Inn down the road at Allithwaite instead that was lovely food and fab service.

Well I won't be going back ,the food was awful ...the tomato ,basil and pesto soup had a horrible sharp but sugary sweet taste...the sandwich that came with it had the cheapest bright yellow " butter "on. ,a maximum of one slice of ham and the cheapest mustard . My 4 year old grandson could have made a better sandwich ! My husband had pie which had hardly any meat in it and the gravy was unusual tasting ( to say the least ) and sweet . I've had far superior microwave meals ! The toilets which were always an asset to the pub had gone downhill too.

My husband and I were staying at the nearby county hotel and decided to call in for a coffee on the way into the shopping area. The coffee was great and the millionaires slice was lovely. Service was very good.
