We've been on holiday in Oban many times and until two years ago had never thought of stopping here since to be honest it looks quite unpreposessing from the outside. Two years ago we did and wow were we impressed with the choice of whisky. I have travelled all over Scotland's west coast from Islay to Ullapool and have seen many bars with and excellent selection of whisky behind the bar, but to be honest this one blew hubby and I away. Not only do they have one of the most impressive selections but the knowledge that the staff have is excellent. If you are interested in whisky at all stop off here. It is certainly worth it.

Second time staying here Last time was nearly five years ago loved it , so that’s why we went back , The bar has been extended and a lovely beer garden added The Rooms Infact throughout the whole place is spotless Made to feel very welcome so thank you very much.. This place is amazing. I read the six worst reviews and the bar's replies to those reviews were why I went. If you are a pretentious idiot please stay away because they suffer no fools. If the bar is packed and there is one bartender be patient. It will be worth the wait. The bartender Chris was excellent. With so many bottles on the wall there was no way I could choose just one so I asked if he could recommend a flight. He asked a few questions about our tastes and price point and then selected four whiskys we never had. Each one was better than the last. He had info and a story for each bottle and was just great to talk to. So good that I went back the next night to try four more bottles and learn more while chatting with Chris. If you love whisky and great conversation this is the place for you.

Fantastic gem in Oban. The manager and staff have an almost encyclopedic knowledge of whisky! The bar is welcoming and has a good selection of other drinks for non-whisky drinkers. A must visit in Oban.

This is a great bar with many options in both whisky and beer. The atmosphere in both inside and the outside is perfect and this can be a great spot to have a drink.

Bad attitude bar man when ask for a glass over the bar got told to tone voice down showing off in front of a girl at the bar real bad attitude sort your manners out will not be back

Unbelievable, saw lots of Good reviews….. think the bar manager needs lessons in customer service….. Me I’m flabbergasted, how rude….. he lost a lot of business and we will not return

I went there for a quick drink, the manager will give you a history of whiskey if you ask him. Great atmosphere in there. Would go again

Any Thursday night you can find me here always open to a cheeky pint and a natter. Slip me a tenner and I will dance on the table ask me what I'll do for a twenty ;)

Friendly. Well-stocked bar. A terrific selection of whiskies and the best barmen we have come across in a long time - helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. We enjoyed the outside space and met some extremely interesting people there. A bit out of the way, but once you find it, you'll be heading back there again and again. Totally recommend this place for craic, service and choice of drinks.

The Whisky Vaults Bar became our "local" whilst in Oban for a family reunion! Kyle was a phenomenal bartender (who speaks both Gaelic and Spanish we found out) and was extremely knowledgeable about the 270+ whiskies they have on their shelves. He knocked it out of the park with his enthusiasm and we tried many different whiskies he suggested. We enjoyed both the "garden" area and inside space of this establishment for the several times we visited this gem! Highly recommend visiting here and we will be back! Mòran taing!

We rented a room at the Whisky Vaults for our two night stay in Oban. We were really pleased with accommodations, our hosts, the bar and the local patrons. The room was clean and comfy, John, Helen and Kyle were friendly, kind and very knowledgeable about the area and whiskies. We would definitely stay there again.

We had a great experience at the Whisky vaults. John sorted us out with a really interesting flight of whisky and wowed us with his in-depth knowledge and explanations of the different distilleries we were tasting from. Thanks to him we have a new favourite whisky from Glenallachie and were able to swing into the distillery while we were in Speyside and pick up one of their distillery-exclusive bottlings. One of the best bars we visited in our whole two-week trip around Scotland.

Visited on Sunday , bar man was rude, unwelcoming and completely out of line. Asked for a gin and soda and said could I have a spot more soda and he charged 75p more. The way he conducted himself was nothing short of disgraceful and I’m not surprised that it was the only pub that was almost empty ! Certainly would not recommend visiting this place

Very cool place if you want to be wowed by a range of Whisky. Our barman Kyle seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel at ease. Tried lots of different types. Cool space for groups after visiting the distillery.

This bar has a great selection of whiskies, with cards helping you to make a choice if the bartenders are busy. The inside has long tasting tables, and there are picnic benches outside. The beer selection is also nice. Food can be ordered from local restaurants. Great atmosphere, tucked away on a side road.

We have seen this place every time we have visited Oban and had never tried it before. This year we decided to stop in simply for a drink. Glad we did. It has a lovely large outside seating area half of which is covered over so it is great if the weather is not brilliant, and they have a massive selection of whiskys behind the bar. This is probably going to be another of our go to places in Oban.

A visit to this bar is a must when anywhere in the location. A friendly welcome awaited us during our visit. A vast selection of Whisky is on display behind the bar and the barman’s experience of whisky is too good to be passed on.
