This is a typically friendly, welcoming pub, with excellent serving staff. What we weren't expecting was the amazing range and outstanding quality of the food, which was far superior to many more expensive restaurants we've visited. Absolutely delicious, and cannot recommend this place highly enough.

This is a local pub, a pub not a restaurant come gastro venue. It does wonderful food, plentiful and delicious. A varied menu suitable for all tastes and a reasonable price to. On an evening during the week you have a curry night or steak night, jazz nights and quiz. It is well frequented and highly recommended. It is in Walking distance to the river Thames and a towpath runs along the Midlesex bank. A good walk either way you go.

The four of us had a lovely farewell dinner here after it was recommended by a family member who had received excellent hospitality here previously. Service warm and friendly without being over the top and the food? Wow, we tried three of the burgers, all delicious in there own way and so many to choose from. My sister had the chicken tikka salad served in a poppadum basket which was also great. It was a lovely evening and I would happily recommend it to anyone, my husband is a chef and notoriously difficult to please and he couldn’t fault anything. Thank you and keep it guys, you’re doing great x

Visited for Sunday lunch after booking, glad we did as it was very busy. Ordered a drink and then 2 of us had roast, beef and lamb. I had Piri piri chicken with sweet potato fries and my daughter had chicken and chorizo skewers. All the food came together and was well presented and hot. Really tasty and a great selection of veg with the roasts. One of best Sunday lunches we have had in ages. We will definitely go back.

Wonderful to dine in a traditional pub, where food is cooked from scratch. We were let down at a another establishment and the staff here were considerate and helpful. My fish and chips were lovely. The steaks that the others had were huge. Ambience good with friendly staff and made to feel welcome. This pub is tucked away down a backwater but has an interesting history. It was originally a farm house and then changed into a drinking house for the fishermen who lived next door. They caught eels from the river Thames nearby. Well worth a visit!

We were staying in Staines and looking for somewhere to eat, did a check on Trip Advisor to find this lovely pub. It was about 20 minutes walk from where we were staying. The establishment is in the middle of some houses and is a proper locals pub so please don't be put off by this. We sat outside with a drink then ordered some food. Menu had a really good choice on it, something for everyone. We choose the Steak and Guinness pie which came in a bowl with pastry on top, also came with Chips, Peas, Carrots and Green Beans and it was fantastic, The taste of the pie was outstanding, hot, flavoursome and very enjoyable, we would highly recommend it. Other food was coming out and all looked lovely. The staff were very friendly and chatty. It got a bit chilly so we sat inside with some locals, all very friendly. It was Karaoke night so listened to some locals singing and were very good. Thanks for a great evening, thanks to Julie the bar lady for being very welcoming and we even managed to get in a taxi back to our hotel with two locals Howard and Jan. After seeing the positive reviews of this place online, plus looking at the well rounded menu, we decided this would be the perfect place for a bit of British ‘pub grub’.Upon arrival, we were a bit anxious, due to the slightly outdated interior and then the small restaurant (4 tables). Let me tell you now, don’t let that put you off. The staff were so lovely and the food was delicious. Not only that, but the prices (considering for me, a northerner, I’m basically in London) were very reasonable! Don’t expect the ritz for location and venue, but expect ‘proper good pub grub’ and you won’t be disappointed!

This is a great little pub, offering good value food served by nice staff. It’s also my local, so I’d use it a lot more if I were a lager drinker - as most of its customers seem to be. There’s nothing wrong with a traditional brown bitter 4-4.5% but why offer three similar ones and nothing else. Or four! Sometimes even five! I’ve no idea who decides these things but I’m guessing they don’t know anything about ale. In fairness it’s all generally served in decent condition, but the choices are dull and uninteresting, and don’t change much. So I’ll continue to take the short bus ride to the gorgeous Barley Mow in Shepperton - run by a man who cares about his ales!

We came across this fabulous hostelry whilst walking our German Pointer along the Thames tow path last autumn. We decided to ask if they were dog friendly and as the answer was a friendly positive one we went inside for a drink. It was lunchtime and fellow guests' food looked delicious. We decided to try lunch there and it was so delicious and well-presented. Since then we returned quite a few times. Then came the pandemic. As soon as they reopened, we returned for lunch and it was service as usual with excellent C19 precautions in place. Went there for lunch with 2 friends on Friday - one of them living in walking distance who suggested to go there. It's a beautiful traditional English pub, old fashioned in the best possible way, independent and from my understanding owner operated. Friendly service, nice comfortable seating. The food all of us had was absolutely fantastic - certainly exceeding expectations and very fine value for what we ate. Portions very generous, certainly more than expected - freshly prepared and very tasty indeed. Myself had a gammon steak - which was definitely delicious, served with chips and mixed vegetables. Had a pint of Kronenbourg with it. One of my friends had a steak pie with a pint of Guiness - of which he says that it was great. The other friend had a toastie - which I saw on the menu, but thought to be not more than just a probably nice sandwich. When I saw it delivered on the table, it looked divine, consisting of generous multiple toasties served with lots of chips - great value at only about £7 and actually being a proper lunch. I might try that on a future visit myself... all in all fantastic food and a great experience was had. I highly recommend this pub - representing the best of classic English hospitality.

I visited on the 16th july.Lived in the area about 12 years.I had never been to the wheatsheaf and pigeon. One of my friends had been there once a long time a go.We got there about 16.30 bar staff very pleasant. We asked about food and were told they started food at 6.They said they could take the order and when the kitchen staff arrived thay could do it.Which was fine we would just have to be patient. We decided we would have another drink and maybe go elsewhere for food. We were sitting outside on the bench tables 3 of us at this point. My 2 friends facing me.I needed to spend a penny. So i left the table. When i returned a man and a women were sitting backs towards my 2 friends. They were talking with a big group on the next table. I squeezed on the end with my leg hanging out.I lit up a cigarette and the man glanced at me slightly. We decided to leave.I aked my friends if they had asked to sit there. They hadn't how rude and inconsiderate can yo be.My friends pointed out that's how trouble starts. That's why they suggested we leave after drinking up.These people were not travellers. There was some in there earlier and were very well behaved. This is not the fault of the bar staff or management. Just plain ignorant people.I did talk to a local when i went to the toilet who was very pleasant. Then returned to ignorance. So not all the locals are like that but it does put you off.One of my friends sitting at the table is 6ft4 and built like mike tyson. We decided for everones sake best to leave.Be more mature and not ignorant.

This traditional pub [with its most amusing nickname] is well worth a visit if one is in the area twixt Staines and Laleham.Always friendly, clean and welcoming to stranger and regular alike.I took my dog [a calm but sizeable Yellow Labrador Retriever], when I first visited so I was relieved when my call from the doorway, "Is it okay to bring-in the dog?" was met with a sturdy, "Oh yes."The truth of this was immediately demonstrated by the gift of a biscuit for the hound and a bowl of water placed near. Our drinks were smilingly served and the capabilities of the cellar-work proved beyond comment. The pub enjoys an adequate corner site with outside seating and on-road parking.A further visit proved equally pleasant and worthwhile.

We have only started to re visit recently and have to say the food has much improved. The chilli was excellent as was the 'special' honey and mustard chicken. The menu was comprehensive, lots of choice at very reasonable prices, there were quite a few dishes which appealed. The restaurant part of the bar was basic and small and cosy with wooden tables, but it was fine for good pub fare. The main pub area was colourful with a well stocked bar and small areas with tables for those not wishing to go through to the little restaurant. The pub did not open until 12pm, although we had been able to make our booking for 12pm, and we were let in to wait in the warm, as the staff had not yet arrived, but it would have been good to have been told that as a result there would be quite a wait for food.

The evening meal we had ticked all the boxes you would wish for in a traditional-style, local pub, one which is well decorated and spotlessly clean. Our various choice of meals were all perfectly cooked, the service was attentive but not overbearing and value for money was exceptional.Obviously a popular local treasure the tables in the main bar area already taken with diners and we had our meal in a small annex just off, but open to ,the main bar; this did not detract from our enjoyment at all, in fact the little bit of privacy it allowed was, in its own way, welcome. We will certainly go back again and with more friends and family too.

This place was my local over 16 years ago. I dropped in tonight to get something to eat and it has hardly changed. It's a place full of locals that is noisy and unpretentious and just like a proper "local" should be.They still serve the enormous full English breakfast that used to be my regular hangover cure but tonight I tried a blue cheese burger. It was very good with lovely homemade coleslaw and perfectly cooked chips. All the food is great value and the menu has a lot of variety.Highly recommended if you're nearby, great to sit outside when it's warm enough.

I live locally to this pub, though I rarely visit. One thing I consistently note is the poor service. The bar staff will always serve regulars before other patrons, such as myself, who have clearly been stood waiting at the bar for a considerably longer amount of time. This literally happens every time which sets this place out as a particularly bad pub to visit. It's a bit of a dive inside too, pretty smelly, very poor decor. One to avoid which is a shame as it's so close to home.

A small local pub that serves good beer and food. It has a beer garden and outside seating. The River Thames is a 150 yard walk away. It is very busy from 1700 to 2200 and then calms down. It has regular bands, comedians and football celebrity speakers. I have never known any problems so its a good place for the kids.No food on Monday evenings and Sunday's after 4pm.

Visited this vibrant, traditional, local pub yesterday (Friday night) and were entertained by a live band playing R 'n' B covers. The 'wee and pee', as it is affectionately called, has a good range of beer and a very extensive menu, including daily specials and a bewildering variety of burgers. We opted for the New Yorker with BBQ sauce, bacon and cheese. They were served with chips and homemade coleslaw and were as good, if not better than, GBK, Byrons etc. The pub is very relaxed, popular with locals and the staff are friendly and helpful. Would recommend.

Went to an elvis evening and the pub was busy so we sat in the small restuarant area. Food was exactly how it was advertised, service was good considering how busy they were. Alltogether a nice experience.

Situated a few minutes walk from the River Thames, the Wee & Pee offers honest pub grub (but not much of a choice for veggies). It's quite a small locals pub which gets busy in the evenings so I'd book ahead if you want a table but it's child (and dog) friendly with a small outside play area. If you're looking for refined dining, then this isn't for you, but otherwise enjoy the menu and save room for the stick toffee pudding! :)

My daughter and I had a great lunch here today, prior to the Chelsea Ladies game down the road. We hadn't made a booking so had our lunch in the main bar area, rather than the restaurant. The area we were in looked in need of a bit of decorating, but I suspect this is planned as the restaurant looked very smart.I had a traditional roast lamb, and my daughter had a pulled pork wrap with fries. Both portions were very generous and tasty. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, and we will definitely return another day.

Went there for Father’s day and have to say we were a bit disappointed. The pub looks a bit run down and tired, ghastly salmon pink walls in the dining area. The pub was very busy being Father’s Day and we had to wait a quite a long time for our food, and a long wait between courses. The food was very average and we have certainly had better elsewhere.Love the fact that you can bring your dog to the pub, give me a dog to a screaming kid any day.The Wheatsheath appears to be a real locals pub, nothing wrong with that, also quite sport orientated, so probably best to avoid if like me you would rather watch paint dry than watch football. On the plus side the Staff were fantastic and worked really hard to keep us supplied with drinks while we waited for the food.Would we go back probably not, but so far we have yet to find a decent pub in Staines and in this respect the Wheatsheath & Pidgeon is no worse than others we have visited.

Friendly pub if you are a local, often difficult to get served when busy if you're not a regular ....If you drink a bitter then don't drink the draught as it's awful despite the good selection, even the usually reliable London Pride is flat and tasteless !!The pub is often full of unruly kids and dogs, the bar staff stroke the dogs and then serve without washing their hands which is extremely unhygienic. The prices are extremely high which match London prices despite being a suburban pub... £4:20 for a pint of cider!Often unable to sit as tables are reserved despite there being a restaurant.

These guys knock out a superb Sunday roast and reasonablypriced for what you get.....I shouldn't really leave a review as its regularly booked up weeks in advance and the more people that know the harder to get a booking......but they deserve all the applause.....check them out, you won't be disappointed......and the staff are great too.👏👏👏👏

We went to The Bulldog for breakfast today and it was absolutely amazing. Our server Lisa was extremely pleasant and attentive. All the breakfast items were cooked perfectly and were really tasty. Will surely go back and we highly recommend this place.

Nice pub with a focus on food. Service is pretty slow. 15 minutes at the bar to get a drink (no one else waiting at time of arrival). Food took a long time. But staff are nice and professional

BEWARE OF PARKING TICKET!!! i popped in and connected my car for charging. I have since received a fine. Really poor signage here to warn drivers that there are park costs. Really terrible way to treat customers.
