Proper English pub! Great beer, great atmosphere and fantastic staff. Really welcoming and friendly with plenty of TVs for all the major sporting action, a pool table, skittles table and darts board. Always something going on and regular live music.

My husband and I visited this pub when we walked to the village shops. We enjoyed it so much we went back a couple of days later with our four dogs. They were made welcome, too. Good choice of ales 🍺 Very friendly staff Got to be one of the cleanest pubs I have been in. We will go back again before we move on. Highly recommend this pub x

Whilst visiting the Historic Boat Festival we decided to check out pubs in the village. Sat outside and had a couple of beers. Inside was nearly full which shows it is a popular pub. Recommended

Great pub, really welcoming for a very wet tired family of 5 and a little pup! Helped us out with suggestions on where to eat and even said we could get fish and chips to bring in if it helped as the weather was so bad. Great down to earth traditional, friendly pub!

Myself and my partner popped into here last night after reading all of the reviews! The staff were friendly and it's great that the pub was dog friendly inside & out. There's a great selection of bar snacks and the drinks are reasonably priced. They also don't mind if you bring in food from the fish & chip shop which is next door. Nice atmosphere and we plan on returning soon!

Nice friendly pub. Very dog friendly. Only a few minutes walk from the Grand union canal. 4 real ales were available when I visited. T. Taylor was in tip top condition. My retriever was treated to a dog biscuit from one of the staff, which made his day!. Highly recommended.

We called in for coffee and cakes, all of which was just perfect. The staff were amazing - so cheerful and friendly. The restaurant / pub had been redecorated during Covid and was beautifully refurbished and spotlessly clean. In fact everywhere was immaculate. Nothing seemed too much trouble for the staff. They brought biscuits and water for our 2 dogs without even being asked and provided us with Oatley (we’re vegan). Thank you for looking after us so well.

Decided to have fish and chips from the Braunston Fryer tonight. Haddock and chips were cooked to order and although the batter was nice and crispy the fish had a lot of bones 🙁 Would try again..maybe it was a one off.

Having heard and read some good reviews on the new owners of this pub, we decided to struggle up the hill to give it a try. We checked the opening times on the internet, so at 3.10pm on a Friday afternoon....we arrived. SHUT!!! Unbelievable. No sign of life, no reason on the door - though the opening times clearly stated noon till midnight. Checked the rear, just in case....don't go there. If I could give it zero stars we would. We are pensioners, the haul up the hill is quite a trial. Will not try again. We live on a boat, passing through, hoping to meet an old friend there, who the bartender in the Boat House said was a regular there. Will share this on Boating FB sites, to ensure nobody else wastes their time and effort. We will stick with the Boat House in future!

Sadly this was a big disappointment, the restaurant reminded me of an elderly home with so many older folk, the food at best was average, also items such as Tarter sauce which you would expect to be part of the fish and chips meal is an extra, really? Also the desserts are really pricey, not somewhere I would recommend

An empty pub has little atmosphere. The meal was disappointing. My wife's fish was tasteless and dry. The batter was good though. The garden peas were overcooked. Chips were delicious but far too many. Not a great celebration of our 54th wedding anniversary!

Great pub and super friendly staff. 5 old mates(and CAMRA members) on a narrow boat trip last here 5 years ago. what a change! We had a lively evening with some hilarious banter with barperson/waitress Sianne. Steak and red wine meal deals good value and a pleasure to find a pub that didnt serve the dreaded Doombar. In Siannes words 'no self respecting pub should have Doombar'. Thoroughly recommended
