A good proper pub. Good atmosphere, welcoming staff, good beer. It doesn't try to be anything fancy. Just a proper English pub. Glad to see thus pub doing well. Its one of Basingstokes oldest and is part of the towns fabric so glad to see its busy and well looked after.

Meals served hot and timely, wonderful meals will definitely come back again!

First class service and a proper steak pie, not just a flaky pastry top.

The furniture is a bit outdated but with the amount of clients going there and the tons of alcohol spilled everywhere I gwess nothing would last, but eveything else is like a genuine English pub, loved the staff, cheap drinks, recommend 👍🏻

I have been to this bar a few time's with my mates to have a few drinks and it was a lovely time you don't have to deal with girls trying to flirt with you or people trying to start fights. this place gives off the vibe of a old school bar and I would recommend this place to people who want to go out for a drink with the boys.

The Wheatsheaf, Winton Square is a fantastic pub. Friendly staff, welcoming customers, excellent real ale beer, lagers and wine which is good value. Highly recommended.

Great value and great atmosphere

A 'Top of Town' local that has had more of its fair share of ups and downs. Now, thankfully, it has settled down and under the careful stewardship of Geoff, himself an ale drinker, it has been awarded an entry in the 2020 CAMRA Good Beer Guide. Ales are West Country sourced from Butcombe, Otter and Sharps. The pub is wet led, that is, it does not do food, although there was a brief flirtation early in 2019 with a fish & chip collaboration. This is a vibrant local, not to everyone's taste - large screen TVs can dominate if there is a match being played, and there is a Pool table towards the far end of the pub. Comfy seating and a friendly atmosphere, though, combined with some of the best value beer in the town all contribute to make this a good honest local pub. Definitely worth a visit (or more).
