Found this pub by chance on a walk from Kilsby to Crick. Food and beer excellent. Staff friendly and very helpful with the menu as one of us is gluten intolerant.

Scoured the internet for a place near the M1 in Northamptonshire to meet up as we travelled from opposite directions. Very few pubs seem to serve food on Mondays. Staff and customers were very friendly and there was ample choice on the menu. I chose Linguini, my daughter had fish. Both were delicious and my daughter particularly enjoyed her chocolate mousse. Thank you.

Whilst on our narrow boating holiday we moored up at Crick and decided to have a Sunday lunchtime meal at The Wheatsheaf. Was expecting the usual carvery fare on a Sunday afternoon but was pleasantly surprised to find a normal menu. The pub is very pleasant inside and the staff were excellent. I decided to have a burger and my wife went for the special seafood linguine, both meals were delicious. Would definitely recommend a meal here, will come back soon.

The hotel is modern rustic in style, and immaculately clean. The staff are informal, friendly, helpful, and polite. The bed was comfortable and I slept very well. The bathroom was very large and, again, very clean, with a range of fluffy thick white towels. [I couldn’t make the electric shower work: looking at the shower unit I could see a neon lamp which was not illuminated, so I assumed there was no power to the unit. So I looked for a master-switch - which I think I found in the form of a pull-cord just inside the bathroom door. But it didn’t work easily, and I decided to postpone my shower until I got home. When I checked out the receptionist offered to activate the shower for me, but I had already decided to forgo a shower. Perhaps operating the shower deserves a note in the handbook which the hotel places on the bed for the guest.] Breakfast was quite early (7-9) presumably to accommodate the working customers who needed to get to work. I ordered the full English breakfast, which was delightfully complete without being overwhelming. And I was impressed that I had to wait a reasonably long time for my breakfast to arrive, which was accordingly delivered hot and freshly cooked. At check-out I was surprised at how little I had been charged for the previous evening’s drinks at the bar - but my expectations have been developed in London, so that may be the reason for my miscalculation. I thoroughly recommend this comfortable and good-value hotel.

Visited midweek. Had 2 courses for £11.50 senior citizens menu. The burger in a bun was OK, chips were counted out, approximately seven! Fish cake appeared to be all potato, negligible fish, salad was scant and a bit wilted round the edges The blackcurrant sorbet was very nice, the cheesecake had frozen (solid) raspberries on top. Not really a good offering for the price. . This place seems to have gone downhill since our last visit. 2 meals as above, two lime and sodas, 2 coffees £32 total which sounds fairly reasonable, which it would be if portions were slightly more generous.

My other half and I were on the way back from Work and looking for a local pub that’s warm, friendly and serving great food….we hit the nail on the head walking into the wheatsheaf! Immediately greeted with hello and smiles! Seated with drinks in hand and menus open, sitting in front of a huge log burner…what more could we ask for!? Staff were absolutely brilliant, friendly, attentive and relaxed. Food was lovely, great flavours and the portions were not too small…or too big! Perfect. We will be back! Thankyou guys ☺️

We had a table of 20 booked in. Pre ordered meals made things so much easier. We were seated on time, we even had a heads up to tell us chef was plating up. Great little touch as trying to get everyone seated was like herding cats. Impressively all 20 meals arrived within a few minutes and everything was piping hot and really tasty. Rump steaks were massive and cooked to perfection. Staff were incredible, attentive and patient. Drinks we ordered regularly and arrived in minutes. After dinner we moved to the bar where we were entertained by some top quality singers at the open mic night. In summary a great evening with friends from Spain. Thanks to the chef and all the staff for making our night so special.

Overnight stay on the way to Portsmouth and what a great find. Room was spotless, very dog friendly both in the pub and in the room. Catered for us with the dog to ensure we could bring her down for breakfast. Dined with friends in the pub and we all agreed the food was great, well cooked and varied. Recommend the jumbo burger or the fish. Next morning the cooked breakfast to set us on our way was one of the best I’ve ever had. Well done to all the staff in what are difficult times for the hospitality sector. Will definitely return.

Our room was big and a large bathroom but grubby and dated …the cushions on the bed were stained …the curtains had dirty marks here and there …the room was at the front of the pub facing a Coop and obviously pub lighting outside the windows …not a problem but blackout curtains a must ! The bed was soft and comfortable…lighting in the bedroom was very dim bedside lamps didn’t really help The bathroom was large …a bath with shower in the bath …very grubby shower hose …bath plug broken …mould around the edge of bath …toilet brush holder rusty ! the bath didn’t drain properly even after just a quick shower it took ages to empty …no point having a bath ! The dining area was more like a canteen no atmosphere …food was ok nothing special service slow Breakfast was in the same area as dinner …from 9am …they actually locked the door until 9 …so we all stood in the car park waiting …it was only a couple of minutes but totally unacceptable…the dining area floor was still wet and slippery and a very strong smell of bleach or some other cleaning product …again service slow …we were first to sit down and last to be served …our coffee was cold before the breakfast came …breakfast was good hot and tasty Parking in the car park first come first served …we didn’t have any problem getting a space Update room 12 !!

Stayed at the Wheatsheaf with a good friend on a very hot day in Sept 23. Checked into our rooms which were spacious and spotlessly clean. We had an evening meal, steaks, from the evening menu and they were delicious, served with crispy chips, onion rings and a zesty salad. It's pub fare but pub fare done really well! The staff were really friendly and accommodating. We both really enjoyed our stay and look forward to visiting again. A small fridge in the rooms woudn't have gone amiss but a great experience at a fair price.

We stayed here for a night as it is just 5 minutes from the M1. The room was well-kept and clean with a comfortable bed and good shower. The village is very pleasant with two other pubs within easy walking distance. Breakfast was included which was very tasty and with a good selection. We had the Fish and Chips and the Sheaf Burger and both were well cooked and good value. The chips were well cooked and the sides for both dishes food. We also had a side of Cauliflower Cheese which was good. There is a reasonable selection of real ales and spirts too and my wife enjoyed her Malbec. The food is reasonably priced and the restaurant is pleasant. Service is good too.

We arrived at 10.30am on Saturday 27th May. We knew we couldnt check in until 3 - we just wanted to drop our bags off as we were going to the boat show. There appeared to be one girl looking after the bar and serving breakfast. She COMPLETELY ignored us. All she had to say was "Morning I will be with you in a few minutes". We waited, and waited. 2 more residents came to the bar who just wanted some water. They were also totally ignored. 20 minutes later she acknowledged our existence. When got back from the show we were happy with our room but it was extremely hot and no sign of a fan. Had to open the windows and wow is it noisey ! People shouting and screaming until 2.30 am.Next morning we tried to have a shower which was diabolical - huge shower head and trickles of water which took a long time to respond to changing the temperature. No hairdryer in the room - a little note on the bathroom mirror saying ask at the bar - we decided it wasn't worth the effort. There were no spoons with the cups. We came down for breakfast and were shown to our table by a young lad. Yet again we waited and waited. After 25 minutes my husband went and asked if we could order. When he came for the order i asked if fruit juice was available and he said oh yes all the juice and yoghurts and cereals are through in the next section. Had he told us that we could have at least had a drink while we were waiting. We were then told there was a delay on food !The breakfast when we finally got it was lovely but would have been nice to have a choice or white or brown toast. As we were eating someone in the kitchen let out a huge burp. How disgusting! Couldn't get WiFi the whole time we were there. Came back to our room on second day. Tea, coffee and biscuits replaced but no sweetners and still no spoons. Bed hadnt been made. Came down for a drink on Sunday and were going to stay for tea. The two young lads behind the bar were so busy chatting my husband had to ask to be served. His card took ages to go through, the young lad sorry your card is slow, my husband said no its your Internet. Ended up going to The Red Lion for tea which was soooo friendly and food was lovely at a fab price. 2nd morning went down for breakfast. We waited and waited just to be seated. Horrible stench of drains throughout the dining room. No orange juice left - had to ask for the jug to be filled. And yet again we waited and waited for food. I had finished my coffee long before breakfast arrived. We never got a chance to report anything to anyone, never saw evidence of any landlord or manager just lots of young kids who wouldn't know customer service if it smacked them in the face. Just to finish everything off we couldnt find anyone to check out. Left the key on the bar and took a picture to prove we had done it so as not to incurr a £25 charge. The worst £240 we have ever spent ! Absolutely would not recommend or stay again. Such a shame because such a lovely place.

Having travelled to the area for a funeral we stopped after a long day and upon recommendation on the evening of 24th July 2020. We found the staff to be friendly and the surroundings homely, much like you would anticipate in a village local. The guests were sat in a socially acceptable manner and it’s clear the pub has put measures in place to try as best they can to keep people safe. The place was clean and the staff working extremely hard!It was obvious that the pub is popular as it was very busy. Having ordered our food it was easy to see why! The pork belly bites were cooked to perfection (see picture)! As was the Sheaf Porky for main; each type of pork being full of flavour and in plentiful portion! The drinks were also pretty reasonably priced. One slight niggle was the length of time it took from finishing our main to having our final drinks order take and the bill presented however, as said. Staff were very busy and given all the extra measures they have to contend with, this is a very slight gripe which didn’t tarnish our experience of a lovely meal in a very welcoming village pub.

On Friday 24th July myself and my parents visited the Wheatsheaf for a drink with the intention of then ordering food. My dad went into the bar area and was told to sit outside (it was a nice evening) and somebody would be over to serve us. We sat outside and waited 15 minutes with no sign of a member of staff, in fact a young lad did come out to serve but served a table at the opposite end of the garden then almost jogged back inside without even an acknowledgment. The biggest disappointment is that on a nearby table the Landlord and lady were sat drinking with locals and must've known we'd been sat without a drink or a sniff of being served. It was really disappointing as my parents have frequented this pub over the past couple of years since buying a canal boat and keeping it moored at the nearby marina. I was surprised that we weren't served and the owners couldn't step away from their friday night drinks to either serve us or ask a member of staff to. It's probably cost the pub £100 plus for that visit. We did however find a lovely pub round the corner, The Royal Oak. It has a very nice indian restaurant inside and we were made to feel very welcome.

We found this gem of a B and B purely by accident as we were looking for somewhere to stay with friends who were driving down from Sheffield and we were driving up from Sussex. From check in to check out our entire weekend was perfect - the food was wonderful, the room was spotlessly clean with a lovely big shower, the bed was very comfy and tastefully decorated, staff were helpful and friendly and the atmosphere in the bar was warm and welcoming. There is absolutely nothing to fault here - and the icing on the cake was that we only paid £100 per couple for a two course dinner, bed and breakfast. There was plenty of parking too. This really is a cracking little place to stay and to eat and I would highly recommend it.

After a long and tedious journey, stepping into the Wheatsheaf pub was bliss. We were greeted and shown a delightful room that was well decorated and warm. The bathroom was also large although the bath water ran cool before full.We had a lovely evening meal, and the atmosphere in the bar was friendly and fun. When we finally retired and fell into bed the mattress was amazingly comfortable and we both slept like logs. Breakfast the next morning was delicious and plentiful and kept us going whilst we had a busy day looking at Narrow boats. Highly recommended most enjoyable.

A regular stopover for my wife and I, as usual food is excellent however the menu is getting dated so I think a change would be welcome, Wine is very good.Last but not least staff are very good, Vikie & Ruth have great personalities. One point to watch out for though if you visit on a friday evening in the bar area 18:00-19:00 can be very loud and can be a problem to get to the bar

Dropped in for an ad hoc visit on a weekday lunchtime, as we were travelling to London. This place is really close to the M1 and so much nicer than stopping at the services. We had whitebait and halloumi fries to share, followed by a Cajun chicken burger, crispy pork belly and beef and ale stew. Every single morsel was fantastically cooked, the flavours were superb. Excellent service from all staff and very reasonably priced.

Five of us were staying at the nearby Holiday Inn on a Saturday evening (ahead of attending an event on the Sunday) but wanted to dine locally. The Wheatsheaf had the best website of pubs in Crick so we chose to visit there. Having phoned a couple of weeks beforehand the pub provided their shuttle service to/from our hotel. Not only a free taxi but also a very pleasant and friendly driver Laura! Our table was waiting and we ordered a selection of food and drink - casserole of the day, salmon fillet, sea bass, cheese board, sorbet, cheesecake, fine wine, real ale, coffee, etc. All our plates went back to the kitchen empty. The food was served at just the right temperatures and speed. Only giving a 5/5 rating as there is nothing higher! Would definitely return if in the area. Thank you Wheatsheaf for a splendid evening out.

Very disappointed with the rib eye steak ordered. Asked for medium rare and came up well done . The steak did not look or taste fresh, it was anaemic in colour . It has actually put he off steak altogether . The sticky toffee pudding again tasted stale and was over cooked as it was hard around the edges. Overall did not enjoy my meal at all. I didn’t complain at the time as I was with a group of people and did not want to draw attention to myself . The service was also very slow and we had to call the waitress several times to take our pudding order. Even though the restaurant itself was not very busy. Sorry Wheatsheaf you are going to have to do much much better to get me back again . Which is a shame as I like to support local businesses. My advice to management is go and try The Stag in Offchurch to see how a good restaurant should be managed for its quality food, very good menu and exceptional service.

The quality of the food at the Wheatsheaf drew us back yet again and I think the food this time was better than ever.We started with Whitebait,Pork Belly Bites,Halloumi Chips, Beef Carpaccio and Bread and Oil. Six of us shared this between us and it is more than enough. Mains were Mixed Grill,Beef and Guinness Stew, Wok Fried Hot and Spicy Noodles and Crispy Pork Belly, all of it was excellent as always with the pork in a league of it own and everything else a close second. As we have never tried a pudding here we made an exception this time and ordered cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding, as good as we expected.Service in this pub is first class with friendly staff ready to explain anything about the food or drink.

Just revisited 11 Dec 2024 and unfortunately it hasn't got any better, the mains arrived before the starters, they were then taken back, the starter was good when it arrived, however when the mains were returned they had dried out, so not good. Tough and not tasty. At least my cats got a treat as I took the meat home. Will maybe try again in another couple of years, if it's still open. Very poor One of my local favorites no more. Starters arrived with no dips or salad, when questioned the bar staff ask what was missing, I didn't write the menu. Then waited to the point of leaving for the main which also arrived wrong, lost patients No apologies not offer of a refund ( wouldn't lower myself to ask for one) won't be bac. A real shame

So cold no fire lit. Food terrible. Used this place for years. It is so sad to see it now. Needs a refurbishment and new ownership. Feel very sad a village pub is falling apart.

Came here in the summer on a whim(girlfriend has ADHD and I played assassin's creed valhalla 😂) after a loverly experience we vowed to come back with my dad. After a loverly drive to the pub we enjoyed 3 beautiful meals(I had cottage pie, my misses had gammon, my dad had the special mint lamb steak) I tried everyone meal and would of been overjoyed with all 3,we then had dessert which are to die for(2 chocolate orange cake and a Xmas pud) the value was so good. We will be back as all left happy and full, one of the best pub meals I've ever had.
