Our initial email booking was cancelled as we hadn’t given card details to secure the table - I knew I was paying cash so didn’t really want to be giving card details but felt forced to do so anyway. This felt quite absurd as I had been emailing back and forth due to it being a special occasion, so we were definitely attending. The ridiculousness of the card details actually turned out to be rather comical when we walked into an almost empty restaurant! We had presumed the restaurant would be oddly busy for a Monday but it was dead - which leads to the next part of this review. There were a few tables in so not busy at all, yet the attentiveness of the staff was pretty poor. We had to physically approach the bar area to ask for more drinks, where the staff were standing folding napkins. We had to wait an age after finishing starters, to get someone's attention to order bread. We should really have been offered bread at the start of the meal. They were however polite enough in taking our coats but there was absolutely no small talk or interest in their customers. The food was ok for most of us at the table, one person really enjoyed one of the sauces but was peeved at the £6.50 charge for 2 slices of bread to soak it up! A wee slice on the side of the starter wouldn’t have been too much to ask for, or a lesser charge for the bread! Overall the ‘fine dining’ experience we expected was not achieved and we are very glad we didn’t opt for the taster menu. It was a very average meal but we would probably dine there again just with more realistic expectations - i.e not ‘fine dining’ but the usual average eatery. (Table for 4 on a Monday afternoon)

I had been a couple of times before a few years ago. Really enjoyed this visit and will use again. Comfortable dining room and great service. We were quite a big table but the food all came out at the same time. Jasmine was really helpful and helped us to relax and provided useful information on the wine list and food. The food was excellent, everyone enjoyed their food and the servings are great. Pineapple tartine is just amazing. Would go for that on its own! Thanks for a great night Jasmine.

This private club is a shocker. I’m not quite sure 1 star is being generous - I’d give it 0 stars if I could. In essence it is massively overpriced and not fit for purpose. Where to start? The staff are pleasant but there is no customer service. We were asked to pay before we’d even set foot in the door (mm I wonder why that was?!). No staff in attendance after office hours. The rooms are like going back to the 1970s. Don’t be fooled by the “renovation” - that means a headboard, throw and a couple of cushions. No lift to second floor so expect to lug your bags up at least 2 flights of stairs. Rooms minuscule - can’t get a small overnight wheelie bag around the bed. Noisy and smelly - no black out curtains, no double glazing so there’s a smell of the restaurants below (grim) and a constant loud drum from the air conditioning from the other buildings and the aged heating which runs constantly (but not into the bedroom radiators of course). Beds are the hardest cheapest imagineable - nothing remotely pleasant about them. Like lying on a door. Holes in the walls which haven’t been repaired. Truly awful bright cold white luminous lighting. Hairdryer - travel size which doesn’t stretch to a mirror. No slippers or robes (Robes?!). Tea making is UHT milk jiggers with old teabags - coffee is a sachet of Nescafé so I take that as no coffee facilities, no hot chocolate no mini bar in fact nothing resembling modern comfort, relaxation or luxury. Next - the bathroom - an electric shower over a bath which has seen better days - straight from the 70s - with accompanying temperature varying from scalding to freezing via a dribble of pressure. Tiles cheap and dirty. Bath panels gross and coming away. Shampoo which resembles old car oil and too many sachets of lemon wipes 😳 (god only knows what they are for - armpit wipe downs??). Soap which would take a layer or two off your skin if you used it. Dirty cotton buds in the bin. Orange lino floor which is coming away. The final straw after a truly dreadful night was breakfast - “juices” which probably haven’t seen anything resembling a fruit (we saw the big containers of no brand concentrated UHT orange ….) classic cereals from catering packs, toast (let’s ponder a nice bit of toasted artisan sourdough… or - cheap nasty thin sliced perhaps?) off a menu which stated “no hot breakfast facilities”. No yoghurt, pastries or fresh fruit (god forbid!) - not even a banana in fact no fruit even out of a tin. We just left. A truly awful experience and all for the handsome price of £190. A xxxx take. A truly unacceptably poor and overpriced experience. Avoid.

We dined here as a large group last Sunday with young children. The whole experience was fantastic. The staff were so accommodating and interactive with the children that it made all of us feel at ease (as best you can when dining out with young children). On arrival one of the party was identified by the staff as having a mushroom allergy and they kindly explained from the menu choices what the dish usually contained and how the chef would make the dish suitable. This was a fantastic touch to help that individual feel at ease while dining. The quality of the Sunday Roast (and starters and puddings) were all faultless. The variety on the Sunday roast menu was so accommodating and so well priced for delivery of such high quality product and standard of service. Without doubt we will be back … many times.

We went to GLASCHU for one of their Sunday roasts and wow. First of all the restaurant itself is beautiful and a lovely venue. It was a nice chilled atmosphere with very attentive staff. The food - 5 stars. We had a two course roast. To start was the soup (carrot and coriander) and it was probably one of the nicest soups I’ve had. Plus 10/10 sourdough. Then the main event was the roast - we got beef and it was delicious - they asked how we wanted it which I appreciate so much! The plate was full. Unbelievable roast potatoes - a Yorkshire bigger than my hand and some great veg. 10/10 would recommend this place. You get what you pay for and I can’t wait to go back.

We planned a chilled and slightly ‘dirty’ lunch (as in, indulgent, a bit boozy and afternoon) at Glaschu. It was quiet as all between seasons Mondays are, but that didn’t make it any less excellent. Under the watchful and playful supervision of Patrick, we enjoyed a great two course meal (thoroughly recommend the halibut and the venison), we whiled away the afternoon enjoying an aperitif of cocktails and a very good wine list. Lovely day had x

Fine dining prices, fine dining menu descriptions, basic flavourless food. The meat was well cooked I will give them that. But a real lack of seasoning. My gf had soup which was flavourless, with basic supermarket white bread toast alongside. I had scallops that had water in the bowl that made the sauce watery. Main course was decent, just lacking in flavour

We had a wonderful valentines meal here. We arrived early and our table was ready. Our server was pleasant. There was an interesting selection of cocktails and everything on the menu looked great. We got some bread & chicken butter, the scallops, the curried swede soup, the beef wellington and some garlic mash. We finished it off with tawny. I would say the service was very attentive, we had no complaints and the food was very very good. The setting was really nice too and it had a nice atmosphere for a valentine’s dinner. We would recommend and will definitely come back. My only criticism is I didn’t like the carrots with the beef wellington, i’d have preferred greens. I think they were supposed to be al dente but just wasn’t to my taste. The beef wellington was cooked to perfection as were my scallops, also the chicken butter was amazing!! Thanks for a lovely evening 🙂

We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at this establishment. My spouse and I savored a delightful starter of Lobster Ravioli & Pan Fried Scallops, which exceeded our expectations in terms of flavor and presentation. The signature Beef Wellington showcased a succulent fillet encased in perfectly crisp puff pastry, delivering a harmonious blend of textures and tastes. For dessert, the Creme Brûlée provided a delightful combination of textures and flavors that left a lasting impression, while the chocolate pudding, while skillfully prepared, did not align with my personal taste preferences due to its bitter and intense flavor profile. Nonetheless, our overall experience was exceptional. I must commend our server, Andrew, for his exceptional service characterized by attentiveness, warmth, and professionalism throughout the evening.

We were able to take the scooter up to the restaurant floor and park safely whilst we ate. We were given a spacious table where we could safely store crutches etc beside us. Poor, poor food. Overpriced, disappointing meal. We ordered the Beef Wellington (90 quid for two!) which was the blandest, dullest cut of grey-looking meat I’ve seen outside of a Wetherspoons. The starter (blackened courgettes) was a laughably tiny portion of nouvelle cuisine dust on a plate. Service was great, to be fair and the wine was nice as were the surroundings but the missus (who’s normally ridiculously polite) described the beef wellington as “kennomeat”. Will definitely not be back. The food was absolutely grim. A ninety quid steak that tasted like the cheapest cut of roast beef. Avoid. Very disappointing indeed.

Good central location, reasonably priced but food all disappointing - pastry on starter was very dry, we ordered beef done medium for mains but were told we could only have medium rare or medium well-done. Turned out former was rare and latter was well-done so neither of us happy. For desert we ordered cranachan - berries were still frozen and there was little sign of oats or whisky. Experience wasn't helped by waiter dropping a knife on my wife then managing to spill water on her too. We won't be back!

My wife found Glaschu and had booked it way before we travelled north, and we’re happy she did. The food, the wines, the service, the ambience and the whole experience made a happy day even more memorable for us all. Whilst it cannot be described as cheap or inexpensive or even mid-range, the value it represents is excellent. Lunch in town for first time since start of COVID . Well spaced tables, sanitiser everywhere including on the tables. Good '( fairly short ) Market Menu is reasonable at £25 for 2 courses ( £30 for 3 ) ...Chicory, lanark Bkue and pear salad for me , gin cured smoked salmon for Mrs TT ....both were enjoyed . Main was rump steak , rare, with a very nice peppercorn sauce and fries - the other selection was very good chicken accompanied with lovely confit potato, wilted chard ....again both were excllent. One Mewes cheese, one strawberry parfait a sable bicuit etc rounded things off nicely. Decent wine though not a large selection ...don't recall a claret or a red burgundy which might broaden the offering . I had a good cocktail involving a drop of diet Irn Bru to start - very good. Good service in every respect . Its a nice room on the first floor and you can watch the Royal Exchange Sq world go by from a window seat. Put 5 blobs but nowhere is perfect , so think 4.5 in a more granular rating. I hope they change the menu regularly as I think we'll want to go back.

Food was excellent. Staff, relaxed and efficient. It’s a lovely looking place inside. Well worth a visit but slightly overpriced in my opinion.

Came to Glaschu lastnight for my friends birthday, and from start to finish our experience was unbelievable. The waiter Craig welcomed us with a glass of Prosecco and throughout the meal he and another waitress went above and beyond. We both had the Halibut with the buttered greens and fries, we wished the meal would never end!!! Thanks so much for a lovely evening!

Had lunch on wed afternoon taking advantage of the their extended eat out to help scheme and benefitted from £10 deduction from the market menu of 2 courses £20/3 courses £25. Excellent value considering the quality of food - the pics speak for themselves! Family member raved about the sea bass dish and how good it was.Food was faultless, as was the service - been here on several occasions when it was the western club and can highly recommend a visit under the new management and I can’t wait to go back.

Great atmosphere and excellent service. We were treated like royalty by the waiter from the moment we stepped through the door. Pinkerton cocktail was amazing (I’m now trying to source the rose liquer) as was the Provence rose wine. We opted for the 3 course market menu. We both had the chicken and chorizo terrine starter with toasted sourdough bread, charcoaled rump steaks which were so tasty and tender with peppercorn sauce and the little cheese board. The place has a lovely relaxed ambience. First time here for us but definitely not the last. All Covid rules adhered to. Thank you Glaschu.

Wow, what a restaurant! The food, the service, the restaurant itself, the atmosphere was all first class! But the best part was the value for money! We made use of the Sunday lunch offer they have which is 3 courses for £25 and this includes an incredible rump steak. Absolutely phenomenal!!That food is an exceptional standard, so fresh, cooked to perfection, presented elegantly and the flavours were superb. The service was impeccable, we felt welcomed by every member of staff and they were so attentive throughout our visit. The restaurant itself is stunning. Beautiful furniture and decor. Especially the dried flowers hanging from the ceiling. Will 110% be returning to this gem of a restaurant in Glasgow.A huge 5 stars!

Everything, and I mean everything, about this restaurant is outstanding. From the moment we walked in we felt welcomed, comfortable and very safe. The chef clearly understands his ingredients, how to get the best out of them and how to combine flavours and textures. The staff - are genuine, friendly and down to earth. We will be back, hopefully very soon.

We had lunch today in Glaschu and it was amazing. The food was first class as was the service. The decor is stunning. We both had the hake which was cooked to perfection, followed by the orange posset and a cheese board, we also had a lovely bottle of prosecco, everything was faultless. Would highly recommend and will definitely return.

Il locale è molto elegante e ricercato. Anche l'atmosfera è piacevole. Il cibo nella media, nel senso che è stato tutto mediamente buono. I piatti scenografici, ma mancava quel tocco di sapore in più.

Other half and I fancied and nice, lazy Sunday lunch. Had heard about this place opening recently and after a drought of eating out opportunities due to lockdown; we were excited to try it.Staff from beginning to end were friendly and helpful, as well as attentive but not intrusive.Went for the market menu/sunday roast and the food was AMAZING.Salmon and beetroot relish starter was fresh and light and just enough not to ruin the appetite for the impending roast. Soup was pea and ham and seasoned to perfection. The roasts themselves were delicious. Each part was done to perfection and the meat pink and moist. Was too full this time for dessert but hopefully next time.Lastly, the restaurant was spotless, hand sanitizing stations everywhere and staff in masks. It's a very strange time we're living in and I felt Glaschu care about providing a reassuring and safe environment. Will definitely be back.

My Sister and I visited the restaurant on 8th August 2020 as a birthday dinner and we were not disappointed. The decor was beautiful and feel of the place was lovely. Service throughout our visit was very good throughout. As an appetiser we opted for the mussels which were large in size and slightly sweet, as well as the bread and butter. For my starter I had the Scallops which were perfectly cooked and full of flavour and would definitely have them again. My Sister had the Lobster and Langoustine Cannelloni which was nice. It was really meaty but compared to the scallops just lacked a bit of flavour. For our main we had the Beef Wellington for two, cooked rare and I have to say it was the best beef wellington/fillet steak I have ever tasted. It was served with carrots and a jus gravy which were an amazing compliment to the beef. We both had the fries which were also delicious. Finally for dessert we opted for the cheese and banana parfait. Both were lovely. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend the restaurant to friends and family. There was only one drawn back. It happened to be a lovely day in Glasgow the day we visited and the sun must have been streaming through the large windows. When we arrived this meant the room was very warm, too warm. We were sat underneath an air conditioning unit which was taped up so can only assume that it was not working. I understand this may have been overlooked in a rush to open and the fact that air conditioning is not normal needed in Glasgow. Apart from this small issue we had an amazing experience and will definitely be back soon.

My wife and J enjoyed a wonderful meal at this classy restaurant. We dined on their opening night and everything went like clockwork. Our meals were absolutely sumptuous, with a level of service that was very friendly. The chef clearly likes to bring originality to the dishes, and my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. This restaurant is certainly one on our favourite list.

As a little treat to myself after all these weeks of complete abstinence, I decided to try the restaurant at the Western Club, long regarded as one of Glasgow's better tables, under whatever management. The current team has not been in long, since last autumn, I believe, and of course, there has been the long hiatus. At any rate, they were one of the first to announce re-opening and the menu, available on their website, looked appealing. The dining room is long and spacious, modern and quietly chic, and the staff friendly and attentive. Overall, the food is good, with interesting combinations proposed. However, the ideas don't quite materialise on the plate. For example, my main was a sea trout with fennel, surf clams, saffron, samphire and orange. Nice combination, certainly. However, there were maybe three clams, and the taste of orange was imperceptible. The cep puree with my starter had a faintly congealed quality to it, which diminished its appeal, and the cocktail I chose didn't really taste enough apricot. The dessert, on the other hand, was faultless, a delightfully fresh pineapple carpaccio. Short wine list, but decent selection of wines by the glass (even though the one I had chosen was not yet in stock!) but drinks can be a little slow coming. This is a restaurant with its heart in the right place, it just needs a little extra something in the kitchen.

Afternoon visit to the new Glaschu in Royal Exchange Square today. Long awaited opening but worth the wait. Fantastic place. Staff are all amazing and so welcoming.A party of 4 and after trying a little bit of everyone's dishes I cannot find any negatives. In house pickled mussels are so tasty. Scallops are mouthwatering. Duck terrine yummy. Artichoke starter looked and tasted amazing. Myself and my husband opted for the beef Wellington and gotta say it was the best ever. My son and partner opted for the fillet of beef and it was so tender and scrumptious. This place has certainly went above and beyond to bring fine dining to Glasgow. Cannot wait to return.

From the word go it was it fabulous experience; opulent hallway with sumptuous carpet leading up to an impressive dining room. Very pleasant staff who were extremely welcoming and couldn't have been more efficient. The restaurant wasn't packed but busy enough and to have just 2 waiting staff would often suggest that there would be delays and poor table service but this was certainly not the case. Food was exceptionally good and I have to say that this has been the best dining experience I have had in a very long time.

Having previously Hutchesons Hall when it was 1802, the team behind Saints has taken it to the next level, providing a much more relaxed and open environment. The food seriously surpassed expectations too. Took our team here before our Christmas Night out and ended up back the next day for brunch. Thanks team.
