My wife and I have just spent two nights here. The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. The breakfast choices were very good, quality products well cooked and presented. We ate evening meal twice, and were impressed with them both nights. I was particularly amazed at the Smoked Haddock and Prawn Curry with wild rice. I have eaten in many establishments around the world but have to that this was probably the best curry dish I have ever had. The quality, quantity of fish, and taste, were fantastic. Well done Chef Andy ! Lastly I have name drop the wonderful Ruth. To be a truly brilliant customer-facing member of any team you have to have knowledge, empathy, charisma, and a big smile. Ruth has all of these qualities in abundance. She is a real asset to your team, and a role model to any young person who wants to work in hospitality. I trust that you know what a diamond you have. It’s a shame that we could only stay two nights. Thank you.

Was introduced to this place on a business trip. The host recommended the “Welly Burger”. Let me tell you the burger was amazing! It is served with onion rings and chips and is topped with fried onion, tomato and lettuce! Highly recommend! Bring your appetite because it is a large burger!

I stay here a few times a year when I travel for work. Always great service, atmosphere and food. The rooms are very clean and the beds are very comfortable. Always some very good ales to be had.

As a couple, we have just stayed two nights here. The Hotel was ideally situated for what we needed, very comfortable, good food and very nice people. The pub area had great atmosphere and the breakfasts were superb.

Tal vez decepcionante. Por desgracia ha recibido muy mal servicio, esperamos más de una hora antes, incluso los aperitivos llegamos y la calidad de las comidas eran pobres.

Great service, lovely meal and well presented clean room. Would recommend to anyone looking for somewhere central to Ripon, Harrogate and Skipton.

Visited the Wellington this evening as recommended by the owners off Green Acres B&B in Kettlesing. Pub was busy and good atmosphere and staff really attentive. We were seated straightaway and drinks served and our order taken within 15 Ms. We ordered from the specials board which was excellent, salmon and prawn with caper s and Creme fraiche, sliced duck and noodle (starters) mains, lime and chilli marinated chicken with fresh veg and roast potatoes , divine !! Belly pork with Apple infused mash again excellent! Also 20% discount offer on until April, all in all a great night, with great food. Next time in Harrogate will visit again.

We have lived in Darley for a year now and when we first moved here the food at The Welly was lovely, however as time has gone on the food has gone down hill. 2 main occasions to mention, one was Dec 20th when 3 out of a party of 4 ordered The Welly Burger, which we have had on a number of occasions. Unfortunately on this occasion all 3 had to be sent back, because these hand made burgers were a pile of tasteless mince that were not even bound together properly. Very disappointing, the owner did remove these from the bill, but that was not the point. The 2nd visit was New Years Eve, when we were in a big party, the standard of food was very average and cost a fortune!! Now I understand it was a busy night, but that shouldn't mean standards should slip! Finally the toilets really let this pub down, it could be beautiful, however the smelly, old fashioned, extremely shabby toilets are a disgrace. I also believe the rooms are very shoddy, old fashioned and unloved, some of our friends had a very disappointing stay in one recently. Embarrassing for us, recommending the place 😳. The Welly has the potential to be an amazing pub, such a shame it is not being run to it's full potential.

Been to this pub a number of times over the last fours years, they have a standard pub menu but have a fantastic specials board or did do ( you were always spoilt for choice) however, the past two occasions we have visited (August and October 2014) the specials were exactly the same, also I wondered whether the pub had changed hands.

Went to this pub for Sunday lunch having been told it was nice by friends, however the meal was very poor. There were three people in our party, two ordered lamb dinners and one had the roast beef. We decided within minutes what we wanted and went to the bar to place our order to be told by a member behind the bar that a man would come take our order (we believe now he is the owner/manager) so we went back to the table and had to wait 15mins for this man to come to do it. We then waited a further 30mins for the food to arrive. The food was average what we got, we believe we only had enough veg for 2 people, as we had the same amount as other around us - yet we were a party of 3. We asked for mint sauce and mustard yet instead of a pot (they are very small) each we got one pot of each, so again we had to ask for more. However what really annoyed us is that we never got an apology over the time we had to wait. Then when we paid we again had to wait for this man to run up the bill, we assume he is the owner so doesn't trust anyone else?! We would not go back, very poor service

What a beautiful pub, sadly that's all I can say in The Wellington's favour. We dropped in for a late Sunday lunch, two boys, my partner and I. We arrived just before 3pm and decided to have a quick bite in the bar. I had a Ploughman's, not good. The cheapest of produce resulting in a tasteless plate of food. We also had a warm cheese tart to share, which was a genuine delight. The boys had steak, ok but of poor quality, and the kids menu, pasta with tomato sauce, this didn't get eaten. Dreadfully over cooked pasta with a revolting sauce. If a hungry 10 year old turns that down you know you have a problem. Worst of all was my partners Cajun Chicken. Within 200 meters of the pub and no more than 12 minuets of her finishing, she asked me to stop the car. Her stomach decided to remove its self of her lunch over a wall at the roadside. Clearly not somewhere I would recommend anyone to go.

Recommended by a friend from Harrogate. It was TDF weekend. Everywhere close to the TDF route was either too busy to serve us or not hot food. We arrived late and some items on the menu were missing. But the staff was upto date on what was available. Food was superb and we had a nice table in the conservatory with fabulous countryside views. Considering that most of North Yorkshire was catering for 2-3 million extra people due to the busy weekend, The Wellington Inn staff cope remarkably well. thank you for your hospitality again.

Booked a table for 5 people. Turned up could smell a damp/mildew stench. Asked for drinks, nothing on tap only bottled. Sat at table and said to the wife that I can't eat in here with that smell. It was cold in there aswell. Four others were sat at their table with big coats on. Phoned the brother-in-law from outside to tell him we'll go somewhere else. Went back in to the wife and drinks had come. I necked my pint and the wife left a watered down pint of cider. Asked barman how much I owed for the drinks. He said shall we call it a tenner, I gave him it and said we won't be stopping to eat because the smell was overwhelming. He said the roof near the kitchen had collapsed months ago which is probably the cause of the smell. Such a shame as this pub grub used to be great. The decor bought back memories as it was the same years ago. The pub needs gutting. I wouldn't use it to keep cows in, in its current state. Andy

Just got back after a couple of cheeky pints in the bar area. Had a nice porknpie but would have been better with a metal knife and fork, rather than a wooden fork. Definitely recommend.
