Gosh! It's dirty. Pulling out the chair really didn't want to sit on it. The chairs need recovering or throwing away. Staff didn't know anything about the menu and had to keep asking the cook. The toilets are awful. Really need a make over.

Terrible. Piped music way too loud though I kept asking for it to be turned off, no skim milk for the much advertised hot drinks and no disabled toilet facilities. The ladies - such as it was - appeared to be jammed in half an understairs cupboard and when I was there it was occupied by a woman and two children - one a boy - for about half an hour. Despite my pointing out to staff that I - a disabled lady - wished to use the lavatory due to my stomach disagreeing with the full fat milk in my tea they made no attempt to evict the children and seemed to think that the distress of a disabled patron was not their problem

We stayed in room 1. It was clean and the bed comfortable. BUT if there was a fire you would have to struggle with a bunch of keys to open the door. There is a lot of traffic noise (no double glazing) from about 6a.m. You have to boil the kettle on the floor underneath the dressing table as the cable is too short. The shower dripped all night and the shower head needs to be replaced urgently. You can just about see a sliver of the sea. I shouldn't have trusted so many good reviews.

Disappointing Fish and Chips Experience We recently visited The Wellington Pub in Seaford, hoping for a satisfying meal. Unfortunately, our experience fell short of our expectations. Fish and Chips: The fish and chips were a mixed bag. While the chips were nice, the batter on the fish was disappointingly chewy. It lacked the crispy texture we associate with well-prepared fish and chips. Flat Coke: To add to our disappointment, the Coke we ordered was completely flat. A refreshing drink is essential to complement a meal, and this oversight was unfortunate. Service and Timing: On the positive side, the food arrived after a short wait, and it was indeed piping hot. Overall, while the food quality had its ups and downs, the overall experience at The Wellington Pub was not what we would expect from a decent pub. We didn’t complain due to time constraints, but we hope they address these issues to provide a better dining experience for future patrons. Please note that this review reflects our personal experience, and others may have different opinions. If you decide to visit, I recommend checking more recent reviews to see if improvements have been made 😊

Shockingly bad food. Worst calamari (straight out the freezer, all uniform shapes), chewy batter on the fish, frozen chips, the cheapest chewy sausages in the bangers and mash. Honestly the worst pub food imaginable. Absolutely everything apart from the mashed potatoes is straight out of a freezer. And probably bought in Iceland. Stay away. Service was lovely to be fair, and very prompt and polite. But the food is unadulterated garbage

Great weekend stay with friends. Location in Seaford was perfect for local shops, beach and all amenities. After friendly check in we had a few drinks in the bar. Very welcoming staff, great drinks and lots of chatting about the area. We stayed 2 nights, room very comfortable and a good size. Breakfast was really good, well cooked and plenty of choice. We had prior evening meal arrangements but am sure the evening meal in restaurant would be as good, menu and prices looked great So pleased we booked with plenty of notice as good value so worth booking rooms/table early. Thank you, all the staff made us feel valued and we loved the warm family feeling, we shall return.

The cocktail machine was good so this was positive, location is OK too very near the sea. I wouldn't stay again just because I think is rip off for quality of the room where I couldn't sleep at all.

Recommended for it's location, 3 minutes walk from where we needed to be, and the food. Very welcoming, the two young girls working behind the bar and serving food were really nice and helpful. A gin and tonic with added orange slices, blueberries and raspberries was a sight to behold (wish I'd taken a photo now). Food was great, macaroni cheese, fish pie and a vegetarian tart were very good, I would say the mac-cheese was better than average, and ample servings. The french beans and carrots with the fish pie had obviously been warmed up, probably left over from the day before, which is fine, (waste not want not) but it was obvious not freshly cooked that morning which was a same. The same could NOT be said of the salads with the other meals, not a limp lettuce leaf in sight. Deserts were very good, chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream and a smiley in the icing sugar dusting and the plum tart and custard was also very good, no overcooked plums in that dish. The ladies toilets were clean but somewhat tired. If I ventue to Seaford again I will definitely remember The Wellington as a good place for lunch!

I have been using this place for about 15 years now. At first I found it to be A1, sadly, over the years, and with changes in management, I think it has let standards slip. They used to have a strong link with the locals butchers, and the breakfast used to be superb. A few years ago they switched to economy breakfasts, and so the last few visits I have skipped breakfast. I was happier getting my breakfast round the corner at The Lanes, not cheap, but I loved it. To be clear, many people are happy with cheap and cheerful, I am just someone that would prefer to pay more and really enjoy what I have. The Wellington used to have the Cask Marque and usually 6 real ales. They have understandably lost the Cask Marque and are now down to 2 real ales. This pub used to be busy every time I visited a few years ago, this visit it was very quiet. The rooms were always spotless and well maintained. This visit I found things to be needing some tlc. See pics. The shower needed some cleaning or resealing, the shower outlet hose drips so the bathroom door needed closing, toilet roll holder insecure, tieback fixing missing. I have video of the dripping shower, but vids cannot be posted here. I was in the area for family reasons. The bar took a call for me, which I could overhear. The only other customers in the bar at the time were known to the staff, the lad was introducing all the regulars to the new girl. I was the only strange face. They didn't make connection between the call and me, and I could hear the lad behind the bar mocking the call, "Ahhh, he's got to phone his Mummy". I thought that was highly inappropriate. If he had given me the message directly, I would have explained this to him. The message was put under the door. This lad is young, and has much to learn. He jumped into a conversation with both feet and got it wrong. He took my order for a meal and a glass of red, and did everything but the glass of red. I had to request it again once the meal arrived. Mistakes like that happen when you're busy, or when your focus is showing off to the girls, they shouldn't happen on a dead night. End of the day, I do accept that the staff are usually all new every visit, that's the nature of the game, and currently staff are very hard to find, so a body may be better than nobody, but if you let them run free, someone will say something eventually.

We had Sunday lunch at the Wellington a couple of years ago and it was great. I don't know if they have changed hands since but today the food was so awful that I'm actually spending some of my evening here to warn others. My partner, a friend and I ordered chicken roast today and it was basically a microwave meal with dishwater gravy. My friend and I only ate half the chicken and a couple of stiff, chewy roasters as we were really hungry but left everything else (and I like my food so was annoying to say the least to have spent £15 on a meal and to leave hungry). I asked the bar staff if I could speak to the manager as I wanted to give personal feedback rather than spending time on Trip Advisor, but they seemed actually scared to go and speak to the manager as he was 'really stressed out in the kitchen and really busy'. I asked if the bad meal might have been due to staff shortage and they said they were 1 member down. If you don't have the staff to create meals that are of an acceptable standard, then shut the kitchen so people can get value for money elsewhere. The picture is the food that was sent back minus the chicken I kept for my dog (my friends plate was exactly the same). We have Sunday roasts pretty frequently and we have our own score game from 1-10, never having gone below a 7 before. I would score the Wellington at a 2 (and only that high as the chicken was tasteless but just about edible).

A friend and I stopped for lunch after a Sunday walk. I masked up, scanned QR and entered, the guy behind the bar greeted me and said he’d come out to our table outside. He turned up quickly, took our orders and returned equally quickly with our beers and menus.I ordered the mixed chicken and beef roast, my mate went for lamb shank and requested no Yorkshire but extra veg.Our meals turned up in a reasonable time, plates well loaded although the Yorkshire had been left off mine not his - no biggie and easily remedied. My beef was very well done but tender and there was at least a whole large chicken breast. His lamb shank was a good size, both had lots of peas, carrots, cabbage, rosaries and gravy. My request for mustard was fulfilled quickly. After we’d eaten, service slowed down a bit, had to ask twice both for another drink and our bill - there seemed by now to be only one person serving.Just under £50 for a roast dinner and three pints each - good value in my book.TripAdvisor jumps from Average to Very Good. I’d rate this good if I could

visit Seaford infrequently as I adore the place. On this occasion I went to a pub for the first time and hoped for a cold beer on a warm day. I work in retail, so I was prepared with my face mask. I approached the main bar and from the left arrived a young lady. She waswearing a mask too. I ordered a pint of IPA in a very friendly voice, and the young lady after the brief not particularly friendly acknowledgement, poured the beer. I waited as she said nothing. After it was poured, she rested the drink under the bar's eye_view, and blurted out, very quickly, a sentence.I asked her to repeat herself, and she shot me an icy look and said, "Give me your name and address, please!". The please sounded witheringly sarcastic.I asked her why, and she shot me an extremely withering look, and said, "Have you heard of track and trace?"As I work in retail I must admit to being out of the loop when it comes to the day to day of the virus' progress on the news. I have to ask customers to stand away from me day after day, month after month. I had heard of TandT, but was not really sure exactly what it was. When I said that I didn't know, she looked about ready to physically assault me, then in a deliberately slow voice, without a shadow of kindness or positivity, she explains the concept.I thought whilst awaiting the beer. I asked if she was asking me or telling me. She replied that I was under no obligation but it would be stupid of me to not supply her with the information.I calmly told her that she was preventing me from drinking the beverage which was the service that I had paid her for. I said that when she passed the drink then I will have a sip and then do as she asked. She wordlessly passed the drink.I sat down, had a few sips, and felt unstressed enough to do th s task. She was not quite so aggressive when I did tbis as hopefully she realised that she had rowed so far out that she needs to reign in.I received no thank you, and the transaction overall was devoid of grace, gratitude, empathy or sympathy, politeness... I took ten or fifteen minutes drinking and moved on, but not before hearing her talk to other customers and asking them in a totally different manner, even fake laughter when a man joked that she was asking him for a date.I hated the experience in the pub and strongly suggest that this young woman either attend a course in customer services, or check her passive aggressive behaviour, or find a new job.Edited once because the owner accused in responding to my first p, ostof getting my wires crossed :NO I DIDN'T, My bank statement said "The Wellington". So there.

The vegetable soup arrived with the kind of film over it that tinned soup gets when it's been sitting for a few minutes. It also had lumps in it. To be fair there was no claim that it was home made soup, but when I asked if it had come out of a tin or a packet, the waitress just said she had no idea. The only decent thing about the roast was the meat. Gravy was obviously another packaged item, peas were hard, Yorkshire pudding was dark brown and crispy (i.e. well overcooked). At 12 pounds a head just for the roast, it was a big disappointment.

However the food itself was good well for me but my husband had the steak and ale pie but he said his mouth feels like it was burning so they either put too much pepper in it or some spice?

Following it's closure, this fantastic pub is now under new management, climbing from its knees to its feet.

The Wellington closed unexpectedly a few weeks back but I am delighted it has reopened. This is a proper pub - do not expect The Ritz but enjoy a spectacular range of draught ales, many from local breweries and perfectly kept.

We have used the Wellington several times and enjoyed .Visited last week and if it hadnt been for the fact I was with family I would have walked straight out again .Very smelly and mucky . My sister had a bread roll with a mildew spot on the bottom .We were so disappointed and would never go back .Seriously needs a huge refurb .On a positive note my meal was good I had fish and salad. Just didnt like sitting in smelly surroundings .

Si bien es un pub mas a la vista, diferencia en que además es un bed and breakfast.

Excellent food at very good prices - their meal deals are unbeatable! This, combined with friendly staff and a decent pint, makes The Wellington one of the best pubs in Seaford.

Just come home from a Christmas meal. Will not be returning. Awful service, or lack of... !! Pre booked our food and table for 6pm. Doors to restaurant locked and couldn't get in. Slow service. I had a piece of plastic in my soup. Main meal was delicious and hot tho. Asked for more drinks but it wasn't waitress service. Had to go and get our drinks from the bar. Asked for the bill. Once again had to ask at the bar. Our £5 per head deposit was not deducted. Bar staff had no clue. Luckily I still had the receipt. Felt sorry for the poor waiter who could only keep apologising. It wasn't his fault. No one seemed to care about the piece of plastic or lack of customer service. I would not recommend going here at all to anyone.

Service was good, and a good selection of beers, but very limited lunchtime menu, we only saw the evening menu outside the front door when leaving, and that looks more interesting. Would try it again only for an evening meal though.

On a sunny Saturday lunchtime, met two friends, quite a long time since I was here before. An excellent choice of real ales, with the opportunity to taste a generous free sample before buying the selected pint. There is a price list on the bar counter-top, but, better still, the available ales were featured on a large TV screen. Prices per pint were on or around the 4 pounds mark.

We had an evening meal here recently. The food was OK but nothing exceptional. They had a good range of real ales. It was let down a bit by a lack lustre welcome. We felt we were 'in the way'. We found both the Old Plough or the Boot in Seaford to be more friendly

Spend two nights at the Wellington. Very impressed with every aspect of stay, particularly staff. From first checking in, they were welcoming, friendly and helpful, dealing with every issue and query with a smile. A great find in Seaford! Will certainly be back.

The food at the Welly is consistently good, the staff always pleasant, reasonable prices throughout the year. Returned for our Christmas meal. Pre ordered, our choices came out swiftly, served by two fantastic lads. Everything was piping hot and tasty. Had a great time. Was beautifully decorated again.

The nearest to a traditional pub there is in Seaford, good value food and wide choice of beers. The TV screen with the ale choice is a bit tacky, a chalk board would suit the place more and then light the open fire in bar, the place would then be perfect.

I recently ate here with a group of friends.. We ate off the Christmas menu. Which was very good. We had already placed our meal choices so didn't have to wait. The service was very good & the prices are very reasonable.will come here again.

Staying locally and wanted a quick meal and a drink. The Wellington didn't disappoint on the beer front. Good selection of real ales and lagers. We ate in the large room on the right of the front door which was a little daunting as we were the only people in there. We had 2 steak and ale pies plus a ham egg and chips. All ok.

Hands down one of the best meals I've had. It was incredible.

Used to go here regularly for lunch whilst working at Falmer campus. Five years on we revisited the Swan to see if much had changed. It hasn’t really, which is a shame, but we did kind of expect it. I would love loved to see a more progressive menu of traditional pub classics. Steak chunks in the pie, not minced. Calamari Rings isn’t a main in my food book, sorry. However, the food was hot, simple but tasty and came out quickly. Friendly staff as always.

The Michelin Guide clarifies that service quality does not influence the awarding of a Michelin Star: “It’s entirely up to the restaurant to decide what style of service it wants to offer – and that has no bearing on a Michelin Star.” In Lewes, Dill restaurant exemplifies this distinction. The food is fine, although it doesn’t meet my expectations for Michelin-guide quality. The £200 bill for the table (excluding dessert, for reasons to become clear) doesn’t represent good value for money, in my opinion. However, taste and value are subjective. What is indisputable is the combination of a two-hour dining limit, slow service that consumes this entire period—leaving no time for dessert or after-dinner drinks—and the abrupt manner in which staff enforce this policy. Without prior warning, a staff member informed us, bluntly and curtly, that our time was up and we needed to pay and leave immediately. No desert for you, guys, by order of management. Despite our repeated requests, the manager never came to discuss and perhaps resolve what became a very unpleasant situation for us. Setting a time limit is acceptable if communicated in advance and aligned with the kitchen’s ability to serve promptly. When the first course arrives close to an hour after seating and the main course close enough to the two-hour mark, this is unacceptable. Having a staff member rudely dismiss guests whose time has expired, while the manager avoids addressing the situation, is worse. And so, if you’re inclined to dine at a restaurant with a Michelin Bib Gourmand, spend £200 for the table on reasonable but not great food without being allowed to order dessert or coffee, and enjoy being unceremoniously thrown out when your time is up by a rude staff member backed by an elusive manager who failed to deliver food on time—then Dill is indeed the place for you.
