Easily the best fish and chip shop in the whole of Gloucester. Amazing food and friendly staff

Ordered Large Fish & Chips with Scampi. Everything was fresh and well prepared with the service being swift. I particularly enjoyed the Chips and Scampi. Curry sauce was easily the best I’ve ever had. Definitely one of the best places by far to eat in Gloucester. If you’re not here when in Gloucester, you’re definitely missing out!

Probably the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. Amazing chips and fish was lovely and moist with crisp batter. Never expected it to be so good based on appearance, but just goes to show you should never judge a book by its cover.

Arrived towards closing time. It would've taken too long for fresh chips so offered scallops. A word I've not heard outside my family for a few generations. Cooked fresh as was the fish and fed fresh crisps whilst we waited. Curry sauce was a taste sensation. I can understand why this is one of the highly rated fish & chip shops in Gloucester. Get yourself there. You won't be disappointed.

We were visiting Gloucestershire from Bristol followed our sat nav to this fish and chip shop, and well I am so glad we did, amazing customer service, food was not only cooked well and tasty, but decent portion sizes as well. Will definitely revisit if around this way and will recommend to anyone visiting Gloucestershire.

This was my first time to go there (recommended by my flatmate!) The owner is friendly and the shop is clean and tidy (they got 5 for food hygiene) I ordered a large fish and chips(cod). The portion is big (couldnt finish at all haha) and also the most important thing - the food is amazing. Definitely will come again!

Buscábamos un fish va and chips que no fuera algo rápido, de cadena en franquicia. La calidad muy buena un buen trozo de pescado en su punto y las patatas cortadas frescas. Muy bueno. Por si alguien no quiere comer pescado también hace unos nuggets de pollo buenísimos. El vendedor muy atento, insistió en que llevaremos salsa tártara que acababa de preparar. Todo un acierto. Pero hay que tener cuidado, No cierra a las 10 sino a las 9. Take away, no hay posibilidad de comer allí, pero cerca hay un parque muy grande, y se puede comer allí, antes de visitar el Memorial war, el aviario y el parque.Muy recomendable.

This has got to be without a doubt one of the best fish n chips we've ever had. One of our top ten for sure. I think it might even make it into our top five all time faves. Good plaice!

What a amazing place, We enjoyed the fish and chips and the fish cake, cooked just the way I liked it, with lots of vinegar,, curry sauce, tremendous respect for Mr Imtiaz not only did he make us welcome in his shop, as a visitor in his town of Gloucester, He did not take payment for the food. Superb freshly cooked to order Fish and Chips! The Owner who served us, went to special efforts to make sure our food would be perfect given our drive back to Hartpury, 10-15 mins. Good to his word it was all fabulous and we look forward to returning there again soon.

This is such a lovely place and the owners are so nice and friendly. The food is amazing, it’s so hard to find a decent fish and chip shop nowadays and this one definitely delivers and is very affordable. I got a regular fish and chips and despite being wrapped in paper and suffering on the walk home, when I got in the batter on the fish was still crispy and the chips still tasted fresh. They kindly offered me a free homemade curry sauce which was amazing and 100% worth paying for so will be adding it to my order next time because this place will definitely become my regular go to now.

Amazing value for money and great food

Stopped in the Wellington Fryer for some food after a long days work and what a fantastic decision that’s was! Not only are the owners amazingly friendly but the food is cooked right in front of your eyes… you cannot get fresher than that! The pizza my partner had and said it was the best pizza he’d ever had and I had the fishbox and wow!!! Huge portions for such a reasonable price you really can’t beat it!! This chippy will definitely becoming our regular 10/10.

Tucked away in Wellington Street a 5 or 6 minutes walk from the city centre. Food was all cooked to order and was great quality. Best chips we've had in ages. A piece of lemon in each box was a nice touch and the owners personality made it feel you were getting more than you paid for. Prices were good too. Thoroughly recommended. We've had fish, cod bites, pie and cod roe on separate occaisions - all good.

Visited Gloucester for work and had researched where to get a good take away from as there were 6 of us. The Wellington Fryer did not disappoint and certainly lived up to its five star rating. The owner and his assistant were really welcoming Most of us opted for fish and chips and all of us agreed it was the best we’d ever had !! Will definitely revisit when we are back in the area.

Great Sunday roast. Lamb is tender and chicken is moist with (I think) a light spice to the skin. They do a good fish and chips the rest of the week and much more besides.

Visited Gloucester for a few days and seen the reviews at this place so thought we would try it. Wow we weren't disappointed what amazing tasty and fresh food. All cooked fresh as we waited. The best chips I've had in a long time. The owner was nice too and so chatty. Definitely a place to try! X

After my second visit to this Eatery, I felt it necessary to write a review. This is the best fish and chip shop I have come across in Gloucester. The service is genuine, welcoming and very entertaining. We always get a jolly welcome. Most important, the chips are excellent and the fish is always excellent and well cooked. We live about half and hour away, but it is worth the trip to get such a good take-away. What a find !

The Fish and Chips are superb and reasonable priced. Always very clean and excellent service. Had a lovely Sunday roast yesterday, hope this new service continues.

I was told how good this was so have given it a go a couple of times, sadly what's shame, the chips are horrible and twice I have asked for an item that wasn't there, don't advertise it, I had scampi which was very poor and the place is very expensive, what a shame I had such high hopes!

Gloucester needed a good fish and chip shop and this is it. Best ever! Not only that serves wonderful mocktails to go with it. Fish and chips wrapped in paper and in a brown paper bag so making less impact on the planet. Everyone I met in the queue raved about them. It was totally justified.

This is a great little find in Gloucester. Owner was really friendly. Place looked immaculate and modern not like your standard fish and chip shop. Chips were super fresh and went down nicely. Lots to choose from on the menu boards. Noticed a vegan burger available although did not order this time. Would certainly come here again when next visiting.

Never had fish and chips where the chips and fish are as good as each other. Fish is generous and has light batter that is drained properly. Chips are beautifully cooked. Homemade curry sauce which doesn't taste like normal chippy curry sauce, and lovely chunky homemade tartare. Warm friendly conversation with the owner, a solitary Asian bloke who is happy to cook your meal. This Guy has is down to an art. I highly recommend this fryer.

Very good food, friendly staff and good price 😊

A solid neighbourhood chippy with a vast and fresh selection of classics with a modern touch. You can't go wrong with a place (or plaice!) that gives you a complementary slice of lemon for your massive cod and lashings of salt and vinegar for your chips. The only downside is that the chips are fries but they taste just as good and the portion sizes will leave everybody full. Would recommend.

Shop is always spotless. The food is always cooked on arrival so even though you have to wait it is well worth it.

Best fish and chips I've had in a while. Changes the oil regularly with definitely makes a difference in taste. Also home made fish cakes have a touch of spice. The premises are very clean . Oh and I almost forgot to mention the staff, they are extremely customer focused .
