Do not go here OMG what a place ! Two men play fighting at the bar and not listening to us, no ale or bitter only lager. We travelled some distance for sea food and when we asked if we could eat they just laughed at us and said we have some quality monster munch here in this box ! We are finding it funny writing this because they guys were funny in some ways but it is sad that they have no pride in the place and that the pub is now just a comedy show. If you want a laugh, a pint of cheap lager and some monster munch give it a go. If you want food or for polite service do not go here !!

We used to love visits to this pub when we came to Gloucester. Shocked to see it yesterday. No food. Loud music and no ale. A great pub has been ruined. The lovely sea food restaurant no longer exists, very sad. No more visits here!

Looking at the Facebook music revivals I thought I'd better check to see if the above excellent meals were still available? Just looking at reviews and it seems they are still the Great tasting delicious food myself and my sons are a while ago. Definitely a visit or two when back in Gloucester.. 👍

Sam the landlord has created a very unique and modern space. With classic ales and great atmosphere you can’t beat it. Sam is an absolute character and the most welcoming lovely man you could ask for. Ps he did order me a special toy, love you lots mate ❤️

Really loud, bad music blaring out all weekend. I feel for anyone living nearby, this place is an extremely bad neighbour. The council needs to curb this. This place is awful.

Popped in for a quick drink and I found it a friendly place and great value for money. I am happy to pop in again in the future.

Nice refurb, it's a pretty rustic feel and quite fitting. Pool table at £1 a game, half decent beers on, good menu. I like.

We enjoy our Sunday roast and this is the best. All the trimmings. All the family was made welcome and the staff couldn’t do enough for us. Will be back 👍😄🍗

The gents is shut. No notices to say so. All blocked off except the cubicle. Piss everywhere. No way am I eating here!

Took my two sons here some time ago. Glad to see its still there. I plan to visit Gloucester soon and will be visiting my old favourites.. 👍

Was here for a Bitcoin meetup the other day. Nice well decorated local pub, good selection of drinks, and yes they accept Bitcoin payments too!

Very attentive bar staff and the most amazing roast chicken with all the trimmings. Can’t wait to go back the next time we visit.

First time been in here situated on the main road just on corner of entrance for Gloucester Quays.. Was really busy got pool table.. Got plenty of seating inside and outside.. They do food which is reasonably priced having looked at menu, but we didn't eat. Drinks reasonably priced also.. Would go again

Excellent Sunday roast at the Tall Ship! Roast lamb accompanied by beautiful pint of Butty Bach. Probably the best Sunday roast in Gloucester at the moment. Excellent service from Dom and Vanessa in the kitchen. Booking advisable

Just eaten one of the best Sunday roasts I’ve had. Lamb, roast potatoes and parsnips, separate dishes of cauliflower cheese and a good selection of vegetables. Everything was piping hot and tasty. Chef Dom doing a cracking job in the kitchen and Vanessa, friendly and attentive front of house. Make sure to book!!

Decided to try out the new chef at The Tall Ships. Went for a Sunday roast, and what a fabulous meal we had. Roast beef with all the trimmings cooked to perfection, fully/crispy roasters and a lovely selection of fresh veggies. So much food we couldn’t even clear our plates. We will definitely be coming back very soon 10/10

Lovely proper homemade Sunday Roasts

Chef Dom bringing in a Sunday roast dinner to remember at the Tall Ship. All cooked to perfection, the beef I had melts in mouth. The roast potatoes and parsnip crispy coated and soft inside. Season trio of vegetables, including creamy leek of goodness topped off with a yorkshire pudding and a delicious gravy. Accompanied with a homemade mustard. Has to be, by far the best roast dinner I've had for a long time. Cant knock anything. Will go as far as being better than my mother's roast.

New year … new start … The Sunday Roasts at the Ship are back and my goodness they are back with a bang!!! Dom’s re started the food at The Ship with spectacular style - already booked us all in for next Sunday! well seasoned, beautifully cooked meat, and the perfect Yorkshire pudding. Best roast in Gloucester by far!

Came here with my partner not too long ago, whilst visiting the area, we were met by a handsome furry bartender and a great vibe, we both had seitan burgers from the vegan menu and they were top shelf. Would 100% recommend this place, they passed the vibe check, catered to a number of different customers and left us both feeling great. Thanks for having us guys, hope to come back soon!

Was looking forward to some Asian street food but was sadly disappointed. Everything on the menu appeared to come with chips which I found odd. We ordered a variety of dishes, they all tasted the same, I have had more flavour in a pot noodle in my student days. Add to that the food was Luke warm at best and and the plates were stone cold. Bar service was slow with numerous drinks not available. Total date of money, best to go elsewhere

Had heard tall ships had been refurbed & had a good new Asian menu, pub looked good decor wise , not much of a choice on the menu & disappointed with our main meal, the ginger was so over powering I could not taste the garlic or soy, just polite message to the chef maybe try your food before the customer, sorry. would not recommend or visit again 🙄

Great atmosphere and friendly staff! Really tasty food with a great range if drinks. Pool table, dog friendly, often live music, and now it looks the part too!! Cant fault it <3

Great atmosphere here - excellent food and very welcoming. Had the rice bowl with mixed meat and salt & pepper squid starter. Drinks are reasonably priced and food excellent. Cannot recommend this place enough!

The jury is out on the new Tall Ship. I went at lunchtime and it is now oriental street food but only bar snacks in the day. Food pleasant enough, chops were very nice but I went there for the old fish menu and it is all gone

Was in Gloucester for the Strongman Champions League, walked past and immediately it looks nice and inviting, so I went in. Had beers on the Thursday and then beers and food Friday and Saturday. Loved the place. Recently taken over and refurbished, and you can tell the guys are really making an effort to make a go of it. Welcoming and chatty staff, I tend to just chat randomness, and they put up with me and were very welcoming. Food was great, with chef matey doing a good range of Asian fusion food (he came out and pottered about and I chatted to him, nice fella) good range of beers and just a good place to spend some time if you’re in Gloucester. If the Champions League goes back next year I’ll be straight back in The Tall Ship. If you’re reading this Sam, cheers fella.

What a delightful evening we’ve had tonight in the newly refurbished Tall Ship at Gloucester Quays. The place was buzzing, lively but plenty of space, busy but all the staff were friendly and attentive. The food was something special, looked so appealing on the plate and tasted fabulous, hot, tasty and perfect portions. Thanks for a great evening, coming back soon!!

The gin & beer selection was fab, atmosphere friendly & welcoming and to top it off food was delicious. The refurbishment has certainly added something without damaging the feel to this historic Gloucester Pub. Gloucester is on the UP!

We’ve always loved it here for it’s atmosphere and food but love it even more now after it’s beautiful renovation. We all had different things off the menu and each of them were amazing. Had the most incredible negroni gin which I’d recommend. Can’t wait...

Mr Yip's Kitchen is fantastic. Authentic, delicious and super efficient. Update 050722. Refurb is gorgeous and the food somehow got even better. Such a brilliant place to go.

Was going to call in for a pint. Maybe a bite to eat. The sight of two dogs scrapping in the rear seating area, plus a pile of turds in the middle of it, made me think otherwise. I moved on.

UPDATE: new chef! Mr Yip has taken over the kitchen (Wed-Sat) and has brought in a delicious menu with his own signature of oriental deliciousness. Ramen and burger were excellent. We'll be back to try the rest. Under new management. Excellent food and service. Local talent entertained us, whilst we enjoyed a pub atmosphere.

It's a popular pub with some loud locals food very good and great value.

Only went in for a pint before having a meal down in the Quays. Seems ok. Regulars are interesting.....TBH can't really say much. Seems a nice enough pub, heard their food is good.

Proper Gloucester pub, good food, some good bands on, pool table, drink prices reasonable, clean and friendly.

Went here for a birthday meal on a Sunday but had to leave as other customers were overly drunk and noisy in the eating area. Made my friends feel uncomfortable.

Just been for a Sunday roast, which I believe is on a trial period. I had roast pork with delicious crackling, freshly cooked veg and amroast potatoes. Quick, efficient and friendly service throughout. It's a thumbs up from me 😋

Absolutely cracking pub such a hidden Gem. We travelled from Ireland to the races In Cheltenham and we came to this pub on two nights a Friday and Saturday. The staff are fantastic so helpful and very friendly and welcoming, on the Saturday night they had live music which was great. We really enjoyed the atmosphere around the whole pub and will definitely be back at some stage. Thanks again 😊

What a great find! Not the best looking exterior but once inside the welcome is warm, the menu gives plenty of choice for all and the food really excellent. Have now eaten here a few times and whether steak, Gloucester sausage or Seafood Linguini, it's all been much better than good! Also well kept real ale and sensibly priced wine. Will keep coming back.

We had a superb meal there last night. Great service and efficient but friendly staff. Sam seemed to manage to be everywhere he needed to be at once! Highly recommend going here for a meal, we will certainly be back. The pub is going through a refurbishment but it's tidy and clean and rapidly looking cosy. Definitely one to put on the list.

Had a lovely meal with friends. We all enjoyed the excellent food and atmosphere. Really lovely menu to suit all tastes and my steak was cooked to perfection. The landlord was very friendly and attentive with great choice in music. Thanks Sam we will be back.

Called in for supper. Excellent food and beer great background music too. Due to covid rules and regs Sam is running single handed with one chef . Short waiting time no problem. This will become a great venue,when it gets to where he wants it. Good luck see you soon

Really friendly place to eat nice good food and good beers.

Dinner with friends last week and the food was superb. Lovely fish dishes and home-made desserts suited us! Sam couldn't do enough for us, providing excellent service with a great sense of humour. They've only just taken over and are working hard on the decor, but definitely well worth a visit!

Great lobster, great cocktails. A lot of care and attention into the food, drinks and customer service. Going to become a regular!

Visited yesterday evening for a meal with my wife and two friends, didn't have a clue that the pub had changed hands a few weeks ago... The new owners were fantastic, service was fast and attentive and the food was absolutely amazing 10 /10, we've frequented the Tall ships on dozens of occasions over the years and always had a good evening, last night was the best yet! If you're thinking of visiting Gloucester and the docks for a day I'd absolutely recommend visiting the Tall Ships, it really is a special place 👍

Lovely lunch here, only just reopening after Covid-19 and would definitely recommend. The staff were friendly, attentive, welcoming and very helpful. The food was absolutely lovely. Relaxed, unpretentious and unassuming. Decor a little dated, but if you choose restaurants for their food and you want a change from the usual mainstream chains give these guys a try. They're aiming to use seasonal produce which is a winner for me. I chose Whitebait starter and Scollops from their specials board.

Called in for lunch and chose Gurnard although never had it before. It was really good and the home made chips were perfect crispy and fluffy. Good ale too. The staff were very friendly and professional, highly recommended.

Very reasonably priced. If I lived in Gloucester I’d eat there every week !
