We love it here, chilled and easy, great wine great atmosphere. We love playing toads too.

Perfect spot for a date, meeting with friends, or just refilling your wine supply! All wines I’ve ever had there were delicious. I love that the guy working there always picks perfect wines for me when I describe what I’d like to have. The atmosphere is amazing :) a nice, dog friendly place!

Love this place - a ‘go to’ every time we’re in town! Chris is fantastic - friendly, welcoming and trusting. Turned up last night unexpectedly - remembered us, found us seats and a slot in the line up for the Open Mic, which we hadn’t even known about!! Relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere guaranteed - would highly recommend… and will be back when next down!!! The Foxes🦊🦊

Good mix of beers, wine and nibbles. Like the "living room" vibe they have going.

I love this place. Really good, well kept and fresh craft beers. Friendly staff and I think it has an almost European vibe rather than a trad English pub thing. If you like that, there’s plenty of it in town or nearby but I don’t think you will match the beers or the environment compared to this.

We love The Well. The selection of wines and beers is phenomenal. If you haven't been there yet, you are missing out.

Fabulous 'shabby' tap shop with a curated range of keg beers alongside chilled cans and bottles alongside a superb range of natural, biodynamic and or organic wines. There's also seating in the back. Top nibbles available. What's not to like?

What a splendid little bar, great selection of beer, friendly helpful staff, an excellent natural wine list and great tunes. Couldn't believe my luck when I moved to Brighton and found this place. I'll not be moving again!

Such a super chilled place, great selection of beer and if you get comfy in that sofa in the middle, you’ll be there for hours no doubt. Also staff really friendly and very knowledgable about all the drinks on offer.

Walked 20 mins not open. Either the opening hours on the web are wrong. Or they can't be bothered to open. 12.30 on a Friday. Says they open at 12.00. ☹️👎 Thank you for quick reply. Opened late due to short staffing. Offered me free beer. Sadly was long gone from the area when got the reply. Will have to return some time. Edited review. Shame timings were off. Fantastic beer/wine bar tucked away to the east side of Kemptown. While the Well is a bit of a trek for us to cross from the other side of town, it's always worth a visit. The atmosphere is cosy, the selection of local and tasty beer is immense. Also something new to try and the staff are very knowledgeable. Highly recommended making the journey across town for a visit, you won't be disappointed.

The Well feels like you’re in your best friends living room and time doesn’t exist because you’re busy enjoying every second. Naturals wines and house beer on tap along with rotating local brews. If you want an all round wonderful experience with approachable, friendly staff and social locals, down the Well you go! They also have a back room with an ancient East Sussex game - ‘Toads’. Worth asking about this game when you go to the lounge!

Our local community bottle shop that doubles as a bar but looks like a living room. Don't want people to know about this place because want to keep it all to myself. Better than any pub.

I wish I had something similar near where I lived. Great selection, comfortable atmosphere, and you can have a taste on site. Great combo, but... They need some airflow for the heat tho, and fix the gosh darn sink/toilet. The sink overflows on to the floor, and the toilet seat is wobbly as.

Nice vibe and an astonishing selection of drinks, can be as pricey as you want it to be.... We had a pint of good quality craft beer and a can of cider for just over a tenner which is par for the course these days. Service was good :-)

Good beer and tap shop with an excellent selection

Cool little bottleshop and taproom in Kemptown's bohemian St George's Road. A fair range of craft cans and bottles in fridges (both beer, cider and pre-mixed cocktails) plus an extensive selection of wines along with four keg taps to the rear of the room. Very friendly staff and cosy decor makes for a nice variation to some of the pubs in and around the area.

I’m so grateful to have this place in the village. They have an amazing selection of local beers and natural wine. Everything from the art, music and service is always a joy.

Walked past with my partner and popped our head in Chris the owner said they were closed but still invited us in. An hour or so later we feel as if we have made a friend. Excellent little place miles away from the identikit bars. Great beer at a reasonable price,wines too by the glass. We will be back for sure.

Well… this little lounge is inspiring and cozy… quirky characters dropping by. Very friendly and alive atmosphere.. I really love that the bar is against the wall, no separation between service and customer…. Yeah like a home… … Chris, the calm and fascinating owner mentioned “it’s the intrigue that brings people in, I never market or promote the place; they just find their Way!” It all makes sense in this sweet space, and my Joy is heightened… I’ve been recommending to multiple Friends and I’d love to visit again soon. Really lovely wine 🍷 too Thanks Chris

They won't let you leave. low lights of candles and fairy lights to see you on your way. I think there's also other lights cant remember Wide range selection of fine wines beer on tap, Bottles and cans for the more discerning, two level bar, doggies wandering about, interesting crowd, in a chilled out quarter. Crowd older to younger, odd fashionista, very interesting. Seating can be hard to come by, sit where you can, low down 40s sofas go early, downstairs is a nice spot I go in at 6, smashed by nine. One sit down toilet so thats that. Love the place.

This is one of those gems that a town like Brighton produces. When you go to the Well you’re going into a front room where you might meet strangers, just relax with your friends or simply sit and enjoy a nice glass of wine or beer from around the world. I’m so grateful to live in a town where a place like the Well can thrive.

Awesome little place in Kemp Town.

This is the type of place where classic novels are written. Its tatty in a great way, the landlord knows who hes looking for, sterling service. Classy wines with a nice price tag, and a super selection of Anglo Fr3nch Germanic beer, and rustic ciders. Tatty chic sofas and tables, earthy, not pretentious in a nicelt tired old Edwardian shop. BYO food, excellent pizza stand down road. Also nibbles here, olives, crackers, Mackies crisps. New favourite joint, and when you find one dont switch. RECOMMENDED

5 out of 5 says it all! Chris and Sylvia give the most amazing welcome. Know their stuff on beer and wine. Other customers are also lovely and struck up some amazing conversations with people we'd never met. Dog friendly and also the pizzas we ordered in were also delicious. Pass this bar at your loss (there's a hidden back room if you ever think it's full).

Fantastic atmosphere which all stems from the way the place is run. The owner really cares about offering excellent service and has extensive knowledge of the products on offer. A hidden gem with a unique feel, I will certainly be returning!

This was a brilliant evening. I had the coolest glass I have seen in years. It's a bit of a weird walk-in experience, like you're in someone's party you are just crashing. Everyone is lovely, though and there's another room at the back that is cosy and separate from the big chat in the main room.

Lovely, cozy, relaxed space. I went for a drink with a friend and had a delicious beer at a reasonable price. I could imagine hanging out on my own there too as it has such a comfortable vibe. I will definitely be back, friends or no friends!

This is our favourite place for a beer or a glass of wine. The owner and staff are so friendly and welcoming, as are the customers, the atmosphere is always great and very chilled, and there is a fantastic selection of drinks to choose from. The back room has an amazing view down to the sea. Our dog Hudson is also a big fan!

Good beer selection, helpful staff, and a dog!

Like a sweet shop for grown-ups, this bottle shop has a few tables inside but seems to be just as popular for take-away orders. The beer fridges are mainly full of cans of "craft beer", which means that IPAs are hugely over-represented, but there are also some interesting stouts, and some sours, ciders, and 0% options. There's a small Key keg bar but I think that's the whole real ale selection. The hipster bare wood decor is trying a bit hard but fits with the overall vibe, and the barman when we were there was quite friendly. You can bring your own food to eat there, and they have a partnership with the pizza place down the road: you can order from here for delivery to your table, so it's almost like having their own kitchen.

An excellent place with something for everyone. A wide selection of local beers, ciders and wine that's regularly updated so you'll be spoilt for choices. They have beer on tap as well as cans that you can take away. The atmosphere is very welcoming and the people there are very friendly and give good recommendations.

Really friendly and welcoming. Great range of wines and beers, and the owners are really knowledgable about them so always happy to give good advice on what to order. Just a wonderful atmosphere and somewhere we love coming to.

Everyone at The Well is very friendly. There is a good array of reasonably priced wines and it's quickly become a social hub for local residents. Looking forward to visiting again when lockdown is over.

Looking forward to sitting in for a beer next month. In the meantime I am going to get my takeaway of a nice ipa that I forget the name of and a Belgian inspired stout. Thanks Chris and see you soon

Fantastic new addition to Kemptown. Super friendly staff and gorgeous lounge. Went in to get some non alcoholic beverage and have now found my favourite beer of which they have the alcoholic version on tap (can't wait to try next time) . Loved the OTO botanical seltzers recommended to me too. Lots of options of flavours, too hard to choose a favourite.

As a new resident of Brighton I needed to find somewhere to get tasty unique beer. This charming spot has shelves of it and the owners are excellent company. The draft selection is great too.

I am delighted with this new addition to the Kemp Town community: a welcoming, big space run by two friendly guys with great conversation and a good knowledge of beers ... they introduced me to a Romanian wine that I hadn’t had before and got through several bottles over a week or so. I am looking forward autumn evening beer-tastings in the relaxed environment that Chris and Ben are creating.

Great range of craft beers and wines. Lots of refrigerator space for the beer. A selection of draught beers is available in glass takeaway-containers from guest breweries, including local microbreweries. Nice and friendly atmosphere. Great local resource!
