Great service but disappointing Thai food. The meals did not look anything like proper Thai meals. The food tasted OK but was not really Thai in presentation, texture or flavour.

We’d seen the online reviews and wanted to try it. The food was amazing and the service excellent. Really laid back and homely. Make sure you book at the weekends. We went at about 7pm and so many people came in wanting a table but there weren’t any free. Always a good sign in my book! Tookta came out of the kitchen to check everything was ok and to have a little chat as well which was lovely. We’ll definitely be going back.

Went for my friends birthday last night and the food is great! service was amazing and all staff were super friendly to us. Food portions were massive and the price was amazing for what we got. will definitely be back

I think Thai is our favourite cuisine, and as we were having a night out in Brighton we really fancied some good Thai food. We saw the positive reviews for Tookta's and as well as being very good, it really sounded like our kind of place - small and family run. You can see into the kitchen where the boss (Mum) and son cooking and her partner serving - you can tell how proud they are of their food. The food was amazing - we had Prawn toast and Spicy Prawns to start, Beef Massaman, Chicken Thai Green Curry and Prawn Pad Thai - ALL were delicious. Very reasonable price too!!! If you are in Brighton, Tookta's is definitely worth a visit - we will go back if we are in Brighton again.

The best Thai restaurant in Brighton! I visited Tookta many times with my boyfriend (it’s his favourite place for date nights) and Pad Thai with chicken is always 10/10. I love the atmosphere and how much effort Tookta puts into every dish 😊

We came across Tookta’s having looked at online reviews. Tookta’s stood out to us after how many positive reviews it had and claims of it being the best Thai food in Brighton. It’s safe to say the reviews were very accurate. The food was delicious here, the Thai green curry was amazing along with the pad Thai. Both had so much flavour and the Thai curry was so creamy and delicious. I would highly recommend to anyone travelling to Brighton to heed the online reviews and visit Tookta’s, you will not be disappointed.

Every dish we were served was as good as you'll get in Thailand itself and we will all be going back again soon.

We had an amazing Thai meal at this restaurant. Service was first class too and 80s play list just added to our entertainment. We enjoyed a gorgeous starter then delicious stir fry and noodle dish. We would definitely recommend and return.

Best Vegan Tempura and Green Curry. Crisp light tempura and the best Thai green curry I’ve ever tasted. Beautifully presented and clearly cooked with love. A family run restaurant does not survive for as long as this one has unless the food and service are top notch. I had heard good things and was not disappointed!… Will definitely return. Visiting Brighton for a conference and stayed in accommodation over the road, so it was an opportunity not to be missed! Food was delicious - mixed starters, chicken massaman, prawn with stir-fried noodles, and a chicken pad-thai) all hot fresh and fragram. Would happily use again, despite the enormous variety of food restaurants in Brighton.

Food is delicious. We've been to a few Thai restaurants in Brighton, and this is the best Thai curry we've had. Authentic vibe, definitely pre-book to avoid disappointment. High recommended 👍

Amazing food for a good price. Menu is not particularly extensive but I prefer that. 4/5 but just because they don’t take card payments.

Always walked past this place…and tonight I went. I’d heard the hype, and as an avid Thai food fan I finally had the experience! Delicious, fresh, tangy, sweet delightfulness. Tempura prawns were meaty, succulent and juicy. Prawn crackers were prawny and crunchy, yum! Spring rolls had double the filling you get anywhere else with the expected crunch, squid was firey and sweet, and crunchy! Penang curry had depth, freshly cooked veg, nicely crisp, unctuous! Beyond expectation! If you can’t tell, I’m still gushing!

Unfortunately the chefs (who are family) had a huge argument resulting in one of them leaving. The place is small and quiet, so we could hear absolutely everything. It felt extremely uncomfortable and we left after starters. It's a shame and we were looking forward to our mains. It felt like something out of Kitchen Nightmares 😔

Small, fine authentic Thai restaurant. Very tasty, we were a large group and everyone praised the food.

Generally the most crazy experience. Horrific food poisoning and abuse. We ate here, and I must say the food at the time tasted great and the team seemed very lovely. Paid via bank transfer because it doesn’t allow card payments. We must have read the bill wrong (it’s handwritten) because we thought we transferred extra with a tip on top. We waited to show her the transfer before leaving to prove we had paid. She looks and waves us off goodbye. But it turns out we had underpaid by £16- unbeknown to us. For the next 24 hours we have been unable to leave the bathroom due to awful food poisoning. I then go on Facebook to find a message from Tookta, explaining that we had underpaid. And even though I had such bad food poisoning it’s probably put me off a Massaman for life, I still immediately transfer the money because the underpayment was not intentional and we ate what we ate. But I also in the meantime had received 2 other messages from people calling me scum of the earth and evil and threatening me! This is WILD. If I was really trying to steal why, oh why, would I transfer more than 3/4 of the bill to begin with. Also accused of blocking because I have a very normal setting on my Facebook where you can only receive message requests from strangers. It makes you question what was immediately said about me and my details shared so that complete strangers could threaten me? I have transferred the remaining money, but perhaps If you don’t want to accept card payments, so that you can dodge tax, then maybe check the amount being transferred whilst in the restaurant, so that you don’t have to whip up hatred against people on Facebook and this all could have been avoided!! So I would probably avoid this restaurant unless you want the risk of food poisoning combined with abuse from strangers.

Everything about Tookta’s Thai Cafe was perfect. We went out as a family with our 5 month old baby and as we had let them know we were bringing the pram, they had made room for us. They also did everything to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The food was amazing! Definitely not to be missed if you enjoy Thai cuisine.

Real hidden gem, it's been blocked by roadworks for the last year so even more hidden now 😂 Always great food, family run. Great value nice portions. If you take into consideration the quality (mostly organic) time effort and atmosphere. You get what you pay for as it's a restaurant. If you're after the average "Fast and Cheap" then head to the many pubs or a chain.

Went out for dinner with my kids and it was DELICIOUS!!! The service was excellent, flavours of the food were amazing and it is a very cozy restaurant. Highly recommend

Good food but too expensive in comparison to other traditional Thai restaurants.

I have only once before eaten Thai food and had the idea it would be very hot and spicey. Eating here was perhaps the best food I have ever eaten, not overly spicey but so full of taste and flavour. The ambiance was wonderful and the lady chef owner was an absolute delight, very funny and friendly (after she had cooked all our food). Such a good night out. Couldn't recommend it highly enough . So good I am reluctant to eat out elsewhere.

It’s as good as everyone says. I’ve been to Thailand multiple times and it’s still the best Thai green curry I’ve ever had lol great for vegans/gluten free too. The gluten free flour for the tempura makes it super light and crispy. Would highly recommend!!

When in Sussex we always visit this welcoming restaurant.

We have eaten in a few Thai restaurants all over the world. And this one has to be one of the best we have eaten in. The food was unbelievable. Tasted excellent. It was no surprise to see that all the food was cooked by 2 Thai women in the kitchen, clearly excellent at cooking food from their home nation. Service was excellent. Looked like a small family run business. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you like your Thai food and will defo without doubt eat here again. Thank you for a taste bud sensation.

This is a gem. The chef is the owner and each dish is prepared fresh. Don’t expect a huge menu but each dish is fantastic. And book - it’s tiny and last booking is around 8.

Had a very enjoyable dinner here. Restaurant is small and quirky. I think reservations are essential. Was a little hard to work out the menu, but this was quickly overcome. Had a great soup followed by a curry. My wife had stir fry noodles. Food was very tasty. Problem with card payments so bank transfer or cash. Be warned, not easy to park in the area.

We visited for a weekday dinner. What a lovely little restaurant! The food was delicious, one of the best Thai restaurants we have visited and there have been many! The service was great too. We will definatley revisit if in Brighton again.

This little gem has the best Thai cuisine in Brighton! The gentleman that served us was warm and welcoming. There was a selection of Asian beers (Chang, Singha and Asahi). The menu offers a wide range of food, all very well priced and with really good portion sizes! We will definitely be back

Super cozy place, great service and the food is amazing! We had the prawn crackers, spicy beef salad, the green curry and the Massaman curry and all were great! Very authentic Thai. Dinner service for four with wine was 90 quid. Very reasonable for Brighton. Paul and his wife are lovely hosts and her cooking is very authentic Thai. I will be back when in Brighton for a visit.

Hands down best Thai food I've ever had. I literally travel down from London to eat here. Every mouthful is dreamy. Order one of everything. Especially the prawn toasts. Superb.

Really really good service. We went on Friday evening, found the staff very friendly. We weren't rushed through our meal, we enjoyed the atmosphere and had plenty of time to finish the bottle of wine we had ordered. Good food, loved the starters we tried, squid was really fresh, fishcakes were really good, and prawn tom yum soup had fantastic flavour. We had a green curry and a matsaman curry for main with egg fried rice. Portions are good sizes and the food tastes really good, good quality meat, great flavours.

A hidden gem. We absolutely loved the food and had a nice chat with the owner who was very attentive. We had the vegetable spring rolls and a green and a red curry with veg and tofu. What a hidden gem - food is to die for and is freshly cooked and is the best thai restaurant in Brighton - the chef even came out and asked if we wanted more food but the portion sizes were huge! We had traditional pad thai and tom yum soup and it was full of flavour! Can’t wait to come back and try different things. Service excellent and attentive. Nothing is too much trouble. Sometimes you get lucky and find a hidden gem like Tookta's. From the atmosphere to the food - it's just everything you want in this type of casual dining. Wow what a little gem we found here! My husband & I walked for quite a while looking for somewhere to eat before our show at the Brighton centre. I fancied something a little different (not the usual chains) and be able to enjoy a glass of wine with my food. Tookta’s blew us away……not only delivering this but also freshly Cooked, totally delicious Thai dishes (& yes we have been to Thailand) in a lovely nicely decorated space. We shared amazing prawn crackers, spring rolls, prawn pad Thai and beef Matsaman with jasmine rice. The gent who served us very attentively, listened that we had an hour and promptly served all our food & drink within 10 minutes of ordering!…Continue doing what you are doing, I cannot wait to return.
