The best Thai food restaurant in Brighton!! Recommend!!!

Great value for money. You have a 2 course menu for lunch, same portions! Small restaurant so can easily no table available. Great service. Take away too. My favourite dish is the Green curry! If you are into spicy food try it! Otherwise, plenty of other options.

The food was great the staff are lovely and friendly, the wine is on the expensive side but the food isn't so that balances everything out. Willing to pay more when the food is excellent and authentic and not over priced.

The source is too sweet for my drunken noodle.

Excellent staff, excellent atmosphere and mainly excellent food. One of the top restaurant in Brighton serving Asian food and the best restaurant in Brighton serving Thai cuisine.

Not too much open these days on this once great street but this Thai is open and has a reasonable lunch deal on. What got us in was the very vegan friendly wording on the menu and that extended to the Gentleman in charge today who was very helpful re vgn choices available. My spicy noodles were great, son loved his Pad Thai, wife's dish needed more sauce but still, happy to return

I'm so glad I discovered the Kanok Thai restaurant on a recent 4 day visit to Brighton. I ate there three nights. It would have been four, had the restaurant not been closed on Wednesday's. My friends and I tried many different dishes and all were very tasty. Michael was very attentive and made sure we had everything we wanted, including some home made spicy chili oil condiment. I will definitely return to the Kanok when I am back in Brighton

So tasty, and the service was lovely! Such a homely vibe, the beer and the Thai milk tea was great, and we loved all the dishes and being able to share them easily.

Went for lunch, booked a table the day before very easy. Great price had the lunch deal starter and main for 12 quid. Food was amazing, had the chilli and basil beef was delicious and the tom yom soup. And the thai milk tea was great. Staff were great and friendly 10/10

Food quality was excellent. Tried a Tung Yum soup with chicken, chilli and basil stirred beef with jasmine rice. They were not too spicy. Portion could be larger though.

A warm and inviting restaurant. This is not the place to go if you're seeking a posh atmosphere. But if you are searching for authentic Thai cuisine, you must visit this restaurant. The staff members were very pleasant, and the food was delicious. Unlike many restaurants in London those advertise a particular cuisine but serve something entirely different, this restaurant serves authentic Thai cuisine that is delicious.

Unassuming, cafe environment with amazing food and friendly service

Overall our experience dining at Kanok Thai was okay! The food was tasty, however, the restaurant is not child friendly. They do not have high chairs, the service staff would got us the bill without asking if we wanted deserts, when asked, they said the kitchen is closed. Seating was a bit congested.

As I am Thai, this restaurant cook Thai food so so so Thai. I've requested them to cook it spicier. Som Tum Pu Parah (ส้มตำปูปลาร้า) is super yum. I'm gonna cry because of this deliciousness. 😭😭😭

Went on Fathers’ Day and were glad we had booked. The food was stunning - the Thai fish cakes were the best we’d eaten, while the Thai sausage (ordered out of curiosity) was fabulous - coarse and spicy. All of our mains were delicious and generously sized (although we did have to nudge for all of our rice). Will totally make a return visit. Added bonus - large bottles of Signha available!

Authentic Thai restaurant very amazing food and excellent service

We visited for a family members birthday with a group of around two. There were only two people serving so that made being seen too really slow! There were a fair few items on the menu they didn’t have so a lot of order changing had to happen. When some meals arrived they weren’t as ordered however we daren’t ask to get these changed as we had already waited a very long time! The food was lovely though.

The Earth and Stars used to be one of our favourite destinations for a superb Sunday roast. The standard and quality of the food was spectacular (and, indeed, award winning). Having eaten here a few times during the week since it's change of management a couple of years ago I felt confident I would not be disappointed. Unfortunately, I'm afraid I was. We decided to eat here on Sunday with out of town friends. The general ambience and service were wonderful, what great staff! Efficient, friendly and very welcoming. I could not fault them. The menu looked very promising, although there were only 3 choices of meat for roasts, with the rather surprising absence of lamb, considering the time of year. There were, however a number of other options including vegan, vegetarian and gluten free choices. All members of our party opted for beef and pork between us, which arrived very quickly with a good selection of vegetables. First impressions were that the portions were a good size, but not huge, with a large part of the plate taken up by a big Yorkshire pudding and swimming in gravy. The beef was ok, but disappointing, not great, slightly overcooked. The pork was, however, delicious, with an impressive piece of crispy crackling. The vegetables were all nice, with the exception of the roast potatoes, which wouldn't win any prizes I'm afraid. They had that heated up from cold taste and feel about them, as did the Yorkshire pudding. Then we come to the gravy......there was certainly plenty of it, but sadly that's the only positive point. It looked thin and it tasted thin. There was very little depth or quality of flavour to it at all. The stars of the show on any roast dinner are the meat, the roast potatoes and the gravy.......unfortunately in this particular case they were all decidedly lack-lustre. It felt like their cooking needed a bit more love and care. This meal was perfectly edible and had some very good points, but was sadly generally rather uninspiring. We didn't want desserts, but had we decided to would have been rather disappointed as there was only one choice left on the menu, which, considering we were there relatively early in the day felt like bad planning. All in all a very average meal, made up for to an extent by the lovely service. I will no doubt eat here again during the week, but don't feel inspired to bother with the roast again. What a shame.

Strange little place. Looks like a living room, with tables and chairs in it. The food is lovely though, but I would probably not recommend arriving just as they open. Looks well used by Thai people, which is always a good thing to see

Green and red curry were ok, but not the best. Prices are competitive and the decor is quite nice.

My favourite Thai restaurant. The food here is very delicious and very reasonable priced. The service is fast and friendly and portions are good too. The pineapple rice is highly recommend as well as the sirloin steak with that amazing sauce. They also do a lunch deal until 3pm

Los sabores eran auténticos y buenos tamaños de las porciones. 4 de nosotros teníamos 2 platos y un pad Thai adicional para compartir, así como 2 rondas de bebidas y la factura era solo un poco más de 25 por cabeza, lo cual es una relación calidad-precio fantástica para la calidad de la comida que recibimos.Lo recomiendo encarecidamente y lo volveremos a visitar cuando esté en Brighton.

This small restaurant was really busy on Sunday night when I visited. They squeezed me in on the last available table. Staff were welcoming and friendly, service was pretty rapid and the food was delicious! Prawn spring rolls to start we’re tasty and my chicken main with rice was spicy and tasted authentic. Portions aren’t huge, but big enough and there’s plenty here to share if your with friends.

Been twice £8 - 2 coursesFried wantan -starter with pad Thai - chicken as main.Authentic. Wantan had a tiny amount of meat.Spring rolls vegetable -starter with chicken and cashew nut and jasmine rice. Fair amount of meat. Nicely presented. Verdict: for £8- quite good.

We stumbled on this restaurant because the one we first went to was closed on Sundays. Talk about a stroke of luck. We ordered the mixed starter, which was superb. I had the Pad Duck stir fry, with egg rice. It was quite spicy, but the mixture of flavors was divine. We also had a bottle of the Monsoon Chardonnay, a Thai wine, which was a delicious accompaniment to the meal. One mixed starter, 4 main meals, 2 large Chang beers and a bottle of wine, all for about 65 GBP. Great value. It will be my first dinner stop on my next visit to Brighton

Very small but lovely Thai restaurant on Preston street in the center of town. Tempura prawns and Red chicken Curry were almost perfect. Prices are very reasonable too. The only bad thing is restaurant is so small, that it is almost impossible to find tabble on a Friday or Saturday evening. But really worth to try search for it.

This was my second visit to Kanok Thai restaurant. I'm from out of town and when I was planning a recent visit to Brighton, I had to come back to this place to see if it was as good as the last time I ate here, two years ago. I was not disappointed. The lunchtime specials is excellent (two courses for £7.50), service is speedy, and most of all, food is absolutely delicious. We loved the coconut soup!

A lovely little cafe style restaurant in a busy street full of restaurants of all nationalities. The food is genuine Thai cooking and very reasonable priced, and the staff, all Thai, are friendly, courteous and efficient. The menu only shows Thai beers, but they also have Tiger if you ask for it.

This is a small and friendly restaurant in the centre of town and not far from the promenade. Food is delicious, decent portion and reasonably priced. Excellent service !

Best Thai restaurant I've tried till now. Been living in Brighton almost two years but this place amazed me. Very small, cozy, quick and super tasty. Well done guys keep it up.

Love this place! This place is always a favourite... if I am ever hungry and in the area, I always see if there is space. Staff are super friendly & helpful. I am vegan and they are wonderful at helping find options.

Me alegro de haber tropezado con esta maravillosa joya. Íbamos a otro restaurante justo en la calle, pero estaba inesperadamente cerrado, así que caminamos hacia el agua y encontramos este lugar. Estoy muy contento de haber parado en; La comida, el ambiente y los empleados son encantadores. No queríamos el menú del almuerzo, así que pedimos tres cosas del menú normal y las tres eran fantásticas. Lástima que no podamos empacarlos y llevarlos a casa a Arizona con nosotros.

Lovely lunch with my son who was visiting. 2 courses for £7.95!!. All freshly made, I had the spring rolls with salad & dip followed by tofu Thai red curry with rice,absolutely delicious!. Very pleasant staff, good atmosphere...lots of Thai diners which can’t be bad.

Me and a friend (Thai and Japanese) went to Kanok Thai as a recommendation by friends at our college. Apparently that night, they were also hosting a large group from an english language school. This group was very noisy. I took a look at the menu, and prices were on the lower-mid end, so I did not expect a lot. Obviously I did expect that the food should be authentic. I had a Panaeng curry with beef and my friend had a green curry with chicken. What troubles me was that the rice that came with it wasn't cooked properly. The curries were too runny, and the spice level was sub-par, but not the worst I've had. I think it was just a bad night for the chef, and the manager apologised later in the night. Overall, for our drinks, curry, rice and a shared appetiser, the total came to £24. Not bad, but still not the best. Would probably give the restaurant one more chance since I probably had a bad night. Although I would much rather recommend Sabai on North Street.

La comida tailandesa de Tailandia tiende a ser muy dulce, pero los platos no eran demasiado dulces en Kanok. También pedimos tener un curry muy picante y lo hicieron muy picante! El personal era muy amable y servicial, especialmente con las alergias de mis hijos. Mi mejor Thai hasta ahora en Brighton y Hove y probé la mayoría de ellos! Volveré la próxima semana y lo recomendaré a cualquiera que ame la verdadera comida tailandesa. ¡No es la comida típica tailandesa servida a los turistas!

I'm always happy to walk into a Thai restaurant and find Thai people eating there. This pleasant little restaurant served us an excellent 2 course lunch for very little money, with a nice glass of red wine each to wash it down.

Small restaurant that, on our visit, was packed with Asians, a good sign that the food will probably hit the mark. We weren't disapointed, probably the best Thai food I've ever had, can't wait to visit again. Very reasonably priced too

A return visit to Kanok Thai and once again very happy! There is plenty of choice on Preston Street and there are some bigger and glitzier places offering oriental food but on this occasion, as before, size does not matter. When I ate the restaurant was full and judging by the faces around me most looked as if they knew the cuisine. Always encouraging. Spicy seafood rice lived up to its name and the Tom Yum soup never disappoints. Very keenly priced and friendly service.

Was looking for a place to eat and found Kanok Thai. It looked nice from the outside and displayed a varied menu. The staff were attentive and helped with my selection. The Thai Spicy sausage was a good size portion and was very nice, left a good tingle on the tongue. The Curry smelled and looked very good as did not disappoint.

Went here for a bussiness lunch, and although very cafe style and simple decor the food was excellent. And most importantly very good value. All the food seemed fresh with great taste. And if you hot you do get HOT. Will go again.

¡Mis amigos y yo fuimos a Kanok tres veces y estábamos muy felices! Este restaurante es simplemente perfecto. ¡No solo la comida es muy buena sino también el precio! La última vez que fui allí, comí el curry verde como plato principal y, como entrante, tomé los peones en una tostada y, como en otras ocasiones, ¡fue maravilloso! La comida es sabrosa y parece ser de buena calidad. En cuanto al precio, no tengo nada que decir. Eran menos de 8 para el entrante y el segundo plato.

Upon entering the restaurant on a weekday afternoon it was quite busy, mostly with asian clientele, my hopes of a good meal were looking very promising. I wasn't fussed by the somewhat "street food" style of the establishment nor the rather casually attired staff, after all thai street food can be quite brilliant.

Had the 2 course lunch menu today. £8.95 plus little extra for prawns or seafood. Green curry was outstanding, as was Thom Yum. Pad Thai and Coconut soup also good. A la carte menu also available, will definitively try this is evening.

It wasn’t my first choice Thai, but I was glad I ventured to the Kanok Thai as I had a lovely flavourful two course dinner of spring rolls, pad Thai and Thai green curry in a very relaxed atmosphere with attentive staff. A very enjoyable dining experience. The food delicious.

Small restaurant almost cafe like in style. Food was excellent and the service very good. Reminds me of the small back street Chinese restaurants in Londons China Town. Well worth a visit.

After searching for some lunch yup and down the road opppsite the i360 thingy, we opted for Thai. What a good decision it was. the staff were lovely and the food was awesome and so was the price ! Definitely recommended.

Had an excellent pad Thai here when we found ourselves in Brighton. Friendly staff and lovely food. We had the king prawn pad Thai and mixed vegetables in oyster sauce. It was spiced just right. Not too hot which can often be the case with Thai food.

Food was delicious, a lot of flavour and felt very authentic. Menu wasn't overly long and staff were very nice. On the whole it was very affordable £34 for 3 fed well

I've now been here twice, would be more but unfortunately I live 5 hours away. Food is delicious and the best Thai food I've ever eaten. The Tom Kha and Tom Yum are amazing and really pamper the taste buds. The Pad Thai, red and green currys all delicious with either tender chicken or massive juicey prawns and perfectly cooked squid. Also order the tifu salad as an extra, it's gorgeous. The staff are lovely and at £7.95 for a 2 course lunch it's bargain of the century.

My friends and I are spending Christmas in Brighton. Everything is closed apart from Turkish, Chinese and Thai restaurants. The pubs are open but serve only pre-ordered food - no chance to dine out there although some pubs have live music and boast very lively, convivial atmosphere.

From what I've tried, I definitely like their noodles over their curry dishes. I find curry dishes in Brighton a little too heavy on the coconut milk. The shared starter is also quite good. One of the more reasonably priced Thai places in Brighton and not better or worse than the other options, food wise. On an off note, I hate places that charge extra for rice when you order curry...who eats curry on its own? Full review @foodxploration.

He comido dos veces en este restaurante y yo realmente disfrutamos de la comida. La ensalada con papaya verde som thum era simplemente divina. El pad de langostino tailandés, curry verde tailandés y tempura de gambas eran preciosos y la comida es, precio razonable. El camarero es muy amable y servicial.
