Siam Siam Thai Restaurant in Brighton and Hove

So this is about the 3rd time I have been here over a few months, so overdue for a review. Preston Street has great deal of options for restaurants , but this is getting to be the “go to” for Thai! Service always a very pleasant experience. Food - the important bit - is always very good . ( yes I have seen some older reviews - but I have not been to Thailand so can’t comment on authenticity !) Latest visit included the sizzling duck - see pic - highly recommended . Give it a try !

One of my best thai food experience ever!

Food was below average and lack flavor. Despite asking three times for tap water it was never received. We only ended up there as other restaurants in area closed and no longer serving. Take heed of other reviews!

We ordered the seafood set meal. 6 small pieces of squid , 2 prawns and 2 mussels between us didn't qualify. The starter was nice but the rest of it was disappointing. Definitely not the best thai food I have ever had and really expensive. I wouldn't go back.

Siam Siam Thai Restaurant offers a delightful dining experience, especially for those craving authentic Thai flavors. The highlight of the meal was the fresh and sweet Pad Thai, which tasted like it was straight from the streets of Thailand—perfectly balanced with tangy tamarind, tender noodles, and a generous helping of fresh vegetables and peanuts. The duck pancakes were equally impressive, with succulent, tender duck wrapped in soft, flavorful pancakes that melted in your mouth. The cocktail selection was well-curated, with creative and refreshing options that complemented the dishes beautifully. However, the Papaya salad was a letdown. Unfortunately, it lacked the crispness and vibrancy expected from a fresh dish, which left me somewhat disappointed. Despite this, Siam Siam is still a fantastic spot for quality Thai food, especially if you’re craving that authentic Pad Thai experience.

I'm staying in Brighton for a couple of days at the holiday Inn on my own and wanted to find the nearest Thai place with the bad weather..... Absolutely delighted to have found Siam Siam. Wonderful staff, lovely atmosphere and great service.... I had delicious Thai crab cakes for starters and wonderful massaman curry. Thank you for making my first night extra special 🙏

Ordered a Thai green curry. Took one bite and my eyes started to run. Asked if it could be cooled down. The replacement was still far too hot to be enjoyable. The fragrant spices I associate with Thai green curry were completely missing. It only tasted of chilli. My friend told me stop trying to eat it as I was so clearly miserable! The waitress insisted I pay for it as 'That's how the chef makes it'. It should come with a warning. We won't be back. Horrible food. Horrible service.

Delicious food, friendly staff.

Customers are required to order mains. We were refused the option to pay for drinks/starters of the equivalent value(or more), despite their deliveroo service only requiring a £7 minimum for an order. Waitress was rude/cold. Usually, that is a precursor of tasty food but alas, the food tasted stale. I ordered a jungle curry, it may as well have been a vegetable soup as it had 2 pieces of meat, and the rest was broccoli and cauliflower. Overpriced, overrated. So I'm doing my part to bring it to a more accurate rating <3

This is a very cosy restaurant with a lot of personality... very goods options on the menu, I went for a red curry with beef... Food was tasty, fresh and with good quality ingredients... Service was really fast and friendly. I will definitely come back...

We were playing a game this evening and the loser had to do a forfeit. The loser walked into the restaurant and said he had eaten here and it was awful to someone. This was supposed to be a joke and the guy forgot to say that. There was never a bad experience here and the comment has been revoked. It is a great restaurant and we apologize for causing any inconvenience. Would highly recommend this place.

Authentic Thai food, cocktails are very very good, beautiful to look at and taste amazing, and fantastic pricing. Seabass and tom yum soup were my favourite, fresh and full of flavour. Was a very busy lunch today with 20 Korean film crews ahead of us, but the manageress was apologetic, and it wasn't that long of a wait to be honest at the end. Overall, a great dining experience with great food, excellent drinks and above standard service, highly recommended.

Just OK slightly overpriced for what we received. No presentation just three fish cakes rattling round a plate with a small serving of sauce £8. Vegetable tempura one piece of courgette the rest all sweet potato £8. Curries were ok but had to buy rice separately. Tofu was really tough.

Overall experience was lovely. Staff were very friendly, atmosphere was intimate and cosy, food was good. My only downfall was that the food was way too spicy. We ordered the beef rangdang and drunken noodles and although they were full of flavour, the amount of spice made it not so enjoyable. I’ve ordered these dishes previously and it was perfect the first few times I had it so maybe this was a one off. I couldn’t fault the service though and the rest of the food, the Thai red curry and tofu satay were both absolutely delicious.

Just put only 3 star's cos of food.... maybe I'll take wrong choice but mostly good Thai restaurant have,, basic,, som tam meaning papaya salad great taste..... not here, doesn't taste well, lot's of beans and carrot, not much papaya and taste doesn't feeling there is Thai chef. Sticky rice tasting like old(((( and duck with orange juice.... isn't maybe proper Thai food but tasty okay. Best from my dinner there be nice cold Singha beer))) Staff is very friendly and atmosphere in this little restaurant is fine but sadly food there doesn't looks authentic.

Nice little Thai restaurant, friendly staff, great food. Is quite small so can be a little noisy when busy and quite close together so not great maybe for that little intimate dinner.

WARNING!! Pickpockets!!! The food was okay but they charged us 8 pounds for two small Cokes. Furthermore the waitress poured them into our glass holding them completely upside down what made the drinks flat and non enjoyable

Please believe the low rated reviews. Revolting customer service. The waitress was extremely rude and snappy because I asked for soy sauce. She smacked the sauces on the table and stormed off. Considering the prices and what the food actually tastes like, it really isn’t worth tolerating that type of disrespect to customers.

We stumbled upon this place and what a great find!!! Authentic Thai/Chinese with superb food and service. We was recommended the duck (special) and saw others ordering the sea bass which was just beautiful. I’m not a big fish person but this was something else. Family owned and run by brothers & sisters, can say it was the best Thai food I’ve had.

What a DISAPPOINTMENT! Been here a few times and the foods always be good! Must of been 10 plus times.. but the last time I went I was horrified The food wasn’t up to usual standards and the curry I ordered had little chicken and very very watery, I expressed my concerns to the waitress who was extremely rude and argued back with me and refused to take the curry from the bill. Worst Customer service I’ve ever received. She tried to say I had complained before which was absolute nonsense. I was happy to pay for my meal as I always do, but I wasn’t happy to pay for a curry I didn’t eat. She tried to tell me I had eaten the chicken, which I hadn’t. Very aggressive, rude and unpleasant. I’ve worked in customer service for years and I’ve never had someone be so rude. She shouldn’t be working as a waitress if she isn’t interested in hearing anything negative about the food. Also the rice portions are tiny compared to other Thai places in brighton. Think the waitress needs some lessons in providing a good service . Very rude. Would never go there again now.

A gorgeous little Thai cafe. Lovely staff and great food. They dealt with my gluten and lactose intolerance in their stride. Will definitely visit again.

When we arrived they didn't think we had booked even though I had a confirmation e mail. They did manage to find us a table. The menu was a clip board with a piece of paper attached which wasn't very professional. The food was OK but nothing to write home about. The wine was really overpriced.

Brilliant Thai restaurant, the cocktails are great and unique and we had such a tasty dinner, tempura prawns to start then fresh chilli chicken stir fry with rice and roti bread. Everything was spicy and flavoursome, all the staff were very friendly and attentive and the place had a nice atmosphere and décor. Surprisingly busy for a Monday night! Unfortunately the chocolate brownie for dessert was very disappointing and I wouldn't say this is a cheap place to eat, but you do pay for the quality and experience. I'd definitely return!

We orderd chicken satay and fish cake as starters and 3 main course. Green curry with chicken, red curry with chicken and red curry with prawns. I have been to Thailand few times and my son has lived there ( long holidays ) more than 5/6 years. The food had loads of flavours , and loads of vegetables in the different currys but very small amount of chicken and 6 prawns! And the red curries were too watery like a soup it didn't have the thick consistency. I understand the menu clearly indicates rice and noodles you have to order separately. 3.5 for jasmine rice. But , never done this before anywhere! You lost the second star for : one of the waitress was only chatting to the table next to us that she knew, basically ignoring us !didn't feel welcome at all :( I asked her which part of Thailand you are from , Bangkok that was it . Maybe the other dishes are more authentic but won't be going back to find out.

Bland tasting food, the pad thai’s taste was taken over by the burnt oil. Do not recommend.

I am quite disappointed with this place. First and foremost, rice should be ideal for a Thai restaurant. It is unbelievable that the rice was not properly cooked. We placed an order for jungle curry, bamboo shoot salad, and stir-fried with prawns. All other dishes—aside from stir-fried—are not authentic and tasty. The salad dressing is mediocre and the premade bamboo shoots are somewhat not fresh. Tiny quantities of jungle curry consist solely of bamboo shoots. The interior decorations make the already small space much smaller. Last but not least, you have to pay for the service charge and overall, it is quite expensive for below average food. We won’t come back and you can get better food in other places for what you might pay for here.

Last night was our second visit. We don’t live in Brighton and visit a couple of times a year. The first visit last year was fabulous and our second visit did not disappoint. The veggie starters were delicious and the mains were amazing. I had plain noodles and I can safely say there was nothing plain about them. The cash new nut stir fry certainly woke my taste buds up. My husband had the sea bass and I can honestly say it’s one of the best seafood dishes we’ve ever had. The restaurant itself is lovely and the staff are a delight. We will definitely be back.

Amazing food, great family run restaurant with friendly customer service! I would definitely recommend! :) came here with my friends, one of us are vegan and they can make almost every dishes vegan to fit with our needs! I've ordered beef randang, deep fried seabass and special fried rice; the food is sooo goood, very generous amount for it price to the point that I have to take it home to have seconds! The restaurant is very aesthetic, vintage looking, I love it!!

We came here for one of our friend birthday party. The staff are supper helpful as she spend time explaining the menu as one of our friend have a mushroom allergy. All I can say is foods are amazing and the potions size is reasonably large, staff are helpful and friendly, atmosphere is great. Will return again. 🥰

The food is nice but shame on the service. They asked us how we liked the food. We were honest by telling them that we liked the food but the rice portions were tiny. We also reminded them that their takeaway rice portions are much larger than eating in. A bit sad given it's the cheapest ingredient. Instead of acknowledging, the waitress argued back. The manager was glued to her phone and when the waitress was telling her about our feedback, we only got a dirty look from the manger. We know restaurants in Britain aren't known for their hospitality. But at least don't ask your customers about their experience if you aren't willing to listen to them. Non-UK visitors, remember in the UK guests and constomers are not king/queen!!! 😩

Rudest place i have ever been to in my life. We were turned away at 1pm for lunch because they didn't open til 1.30pm (for lunch). The starters were nice but were obviously not fresh, as tepid. Probably what gave me the food poisoning. I had the "large" tom yam for main, £20 and more like a starter. By that time, my stomach started to turn.... i was told i couldn't go to the loo or i would have to pay her parking ticket. This was at 3pm. 1.5 hours after we ordered a 2 course meal. Revolting customer service. I had to go to the pub next door to go to the loo because she was so aggressive. Then was up all night on the loo. Avoid!!

This is a nice little Thai restaurant in Brighton, it’s the first time I have been here. The food was nice but unfortunately the portions are very small and is a bit overpriced for what you get. The drinks are also quite pricey. Would I go back again? Only if the portions were bigger. I think there is better value restaurants around.

Popped in for a Green Curry with sticky rice and vegetable spring rolls. Food was very tasty, filling and good portion sizes. Good customer service too. Would definitely return.

Second time to Siam Siam. The first time the food was great but the owner was very rude. We just put this down to him having a stressful busy night. (We think he’s the owner if he isn’t sack him!) So round two, we return as a family October 23. No change on the attitude. Walked in with one other couple in front of us and was then told all of you wait outside in the cold. The restaurant was quarter full. Maybe take a seat and have a drink would of been a good start, just a little tip there!! Never before have as a family have we been spoken to like this so of course it was time to leave For the second time this surly not acceptable. Manners cost nothing and nothing is what they received from us. Walked down the round and ended in PHO. What an amazing place. Great service and very professional staff. Ask for Aussie Nick he’s a legend who’s knows his stuff, a true professional. So the bottom line is DON’T GO TO SIAM SIAM there are so many great places to go in Brighton Siam is not one.

Very friendly place, and I found the food to be delicious, so far so good. But it is a little bit expensive for what we received. Also, portions of rice served are far too small. however, I might come again in the future as we still enjoyed our experience.

Back again for another visit, the staff are always polite and attentive and the food is just amazing, we had a mix of starters, satay chicken, vegetable tempura, spring rools. then for mains i had a chicken and cashew nut stir fry with coconut rice and my wife had a curry with coconut rice. beautiful food

Got a takeaway from the restaurant last night. It was the worst Thai food I've ever experienced. I'm not sure whether they prepare their own take-away at the restaurant because whatever we go seemed to have been prepared by someone who could not point out Thailand on a map. I'm not sure where to start so I'll start with the starters. Old Chicken on skewers Thai Fish cake that tasted over fishy Green Curry that tasted like it had no Green curry paste in it. I'll never order food from this place again.

We were hungry and tired and despite being a busy Saturday night, we were found a table for two. The staff were busy, but this didn't stop attention to detail and were so friendly and chatty without being intrusive. In fact, we could have chatted more! They gave us hints of where to visit as well as a bit of local knowledge and background. The food was FABULOUS. Fresh and plenty of it. It was reasonably priced and we will definitely re- visit next time we're in the area.

Not fantastic and very small portions

We enjoyed dinner here and from the moment we arrived the service was friendly and impeccable. The menu was fantastic and the food we ordered was absolutely delicious Thai food served in good portions at reasonable prices. We ordered takeaway as we were staying in the airbnb right opposite. We got 10% discount as we picked it up ourselves. We didn't sit in the restaurant but can see from our apartment window that the restaurant looks nice & buzzing with dinners. The food was good but the tomyum soup was a little disappointing as I ordered mix seafood but not 1 piece of fish could be found in it. Also, the 1st sip of the soup, I was hit by a very strong fishy, almost like stale cuttlefish kinda taste.. abit unpleasant but it was ok after that. The Som Tam was very refreshing on the pallet. Overall, a nice change from Fish & Chips by the seaside. I would happily recommend this place.

The food is delicious and the staff are lovely. However the service is chaotic. The food does not come out in the order you would expect, with some tables getting their meals before others that had placed their orders way before them. Saying this though for the quality of food I would definitely return.

Came here because of good review, they are very busy even at 10pm on Wed, so they are obviously popular for the locals. The food is quite good, but wouldn't say the best Thai I have ever had. The portion is small, at least order one starter, one main and one side for one person. The price is standard, not too cheap and not too expensive.

A very nice and friendly little restaurant. The food was very tasty, especially the chicken wings. We ordered 2 mains but the kitchen staff only realised one was out of stock about 15 mins after we had ordered. The man who was serving our table was extremely apologetic and ended up taking our drinks order off of the bill, which was a really nice touch. Definitely a good find and would never have found it without trip advisor

Worst service I've ever experienced. Long wait for food. Overpriced. Mediocre food. Came with a group of friends for dinner. We didn't have a reservation, so had to wait 20mins (which wasn't a problem). Unfortunately, they then didn't come to take our order for a while, until one of the group asked a waitress. We ordered drinks, starters (which included prawn crackers) and mains, altogether, but with the expectation, that they would arrive staggered. We waited over 30mins to get our drinks, which only came, again, after a member of the party asking where our drinks were. We waited a further 30mins before we asked where the prawn crackers were. Once we ate the prawn crackers, there was another long wait before we got the other starters, and then another long wait before the mains came. We saw other peoples' food arrive before ours, even though we ordered our food before them. The prawn crackers came in a small basket, and there were no more than 8-10 crackers in the basket; I'm unsure as to how they can justify charging £3.50 for that! Soft drinks were ridiculously overpriced. In terms of the food, the duck was dry and thai green curry was watery. When we complained at the end, we were rudely dismissed by the female manager. We asked why we weren't told there was a long wait for food before we sat down, her response was, "can't you see it's busy!" We advised her, in the future she should tell customers before they sit down, that the wait for food is over an hour, so they can then make the decision themselves; she continued to argue with us.

Lovely friendly service and a beautiful looking restaurant. The food was tasty - two drunken noodles (which was VERY spicy - be warned) and a delicious, rich beef rendang. Not giving five stars though as next time, I’d swerve the starters - not up to the main courses - and the vegetable tempura was deep fried veg in breadcrumbs - delicious, but not as described! 😃

Really friendly welcome, the young guy who served us had his pictures up on the wall so was obviously part of the family. I had the Pad Thai and asked for duck rather than the normal chicken. He explained that this would cost a little more and that was fine, they were happy to accommodate even though it wasn't technically on the much time menu. Food came quick and was really tasty, a great Pad Thai if not a little on the small side. The duck was great, extremely tasty. My friends Green Thai Curry was also a little on the small side but then this was lunch I suppose. Overall I really liked this place and I have to say you did leave without feeling too over full which sometimes happens with curries (Thai or Indian). You have to be aware though that this is the kind of place were it is quality but on the pricier side of Thai food in Brighton. You are looking at £30 for 2 dishes, if we had thrown in starters and drinks as well I think we would have been looking at close to £50 and they are kind of small portions. BUT and this is the most important thing the food was amazing so if you have deep pockets or this is a business lunch with work paying then definitely give it a go

The food at Siam Siam was brilliant. I had Tom yum soup to start and it was delicious, (We also had dumpling to share which were as good as any dumpling I’ve had before) My girlfriend had the wings which were also really nice and a big portion, but they forgot to bring them out so had to wait a little while for them. But This is the reason it was a 4 instead of a 5 as the food was a 5/5! But the wait for the mains after our starters was easily 45 minutes. Which is a bit to long for me. Once the mains came out they was as tasty as the starters I had beef Rangdang and my girlfriend had the beef massaman, both were really nice and again big portion sizes. We also had the drunken noodles but we didn’t like them (not the restaurant fault we just don’t like really fishy things) Was good value as well, I was surprised to see the bill was less than £90. If I could give a 4.5 I would but it wasn’t quite a 5 just because of the long waits. Would definitely go again if in the area!

Amazing food. Ambiance is a little bit old fashion just can say not my style maybe. The place is a little bit allover unarrnaged. Apart from that can go to try some delicious thai food. A bit expensive from other restaurants when compared everthing.

Would have been 5 stars but yhe online booking doesn't have the option to book for 1 person. This may put some people off. Luckily it didn't put me off and everything about the place was incredible

Stopped in for a quick meal after a long day travelling. Got seated straight away just as the restaurant was filling up. We hadn’t booked. Can’t fault the food or service. We had two mains two sides and two small beers and came to £60. Thought that was a bit pricey.

I decided to visit this restaurant for a solo dinner, intrigued by its Thai cuisine and influenced by the positive reviews, especially considering it was one of the last ones to close. Promptly, I ordered an appetizer followed by a main course. Surprisingly, despite the bustling atmosphere, the staff served my food quickly, which I appreciated since dining alone can sometimes feel monotonous if the wait is too long. The food itself was acceptable, meeting my basic expectations. However, it didn't leave a lasting impression or stand out from other Thai dishes I've tried elsewhere. While the experience was satisfactory, it wasn't compelling enough to entice me to return solely for the food. In summary, this restaurant's fast service and decent food make it a viable option for a quick and convenient meal, particularly for solo diners. However, in terms of flavour and uniqueness, it falls in line with other Thai food offerings that can be found throughout the area.

We arrived Saturday night with no reservation and the staff were more than happy to accommodate us. The server was brilliant and was able to provide recommendations. The food was hot and fresh when it arrived and came in a timely manner. I really can't fault anything about the restaurant. Best thai we've ever had and will be returning on our next trip to Brighton.

A family run business- fantastic food! Unfortunately tables just a little too close to one another and on our visit they were behind time in sitting us down or serving us - we were there a long time !! Having said that I’m pleased they are busy - maybe just needs a bit more organisation!!

Booked last minute so glad we did had a delicious meal, staff were friendly & service was fab. We had the dumplings & spring rolls to start and Chicken pad thai & Honey duck all were delicious. We will return next time we are down in the area.

Tastes just like the food I’ve had when I visited Thailand. Next time I’ll order Thai food, it will definitely be from this place again.

From the beggining, it looked like we're not welcome there, from the owners reactions. Food was generally good, as only few dishes were not tasty (spare ribs, bamboo salad). But service was extremely poor. Waitress did not know all the menu, and didnt get one of the dishes. But the worst thing was the attitude after 30 minutes wait for desert. As I noted that to the restaurants owner, no apology was made. Furthermore, no action was made , and a promise for 15 minutes more, with a sour face. As this comes from management, who cant take responsibility and treats a customer this way, one can learn how they values the customers.

Good Thai food - fresh tasting - nice vibe. A little pricey perhaps. Great service though, and absolute credit to our top waitress who reacted with great calm and speed when someone's menu caught fire.
