The Wavendon Arms in Milton Keynes

For context we went on a Sunday and I had the trio of roasts (chicken, pork and beef) and the freshly baked cookie and ice cream for dessert The first thing to mention would be the positives: the service was excellent, the staff were very good. The beef aspect of the roast was excellent, the gravy too was very nice and the ice cream for the pudding was lovely too. However the pork was a tiny piece of pork belly which was 75% soft fat and the chicken was quite dry. The potatoes and veg were ok. The dessert was pretty scandalous against cost. The ‘freshly baked’ cookie half of a small cookie, it was cold and dry (stale). This was accompanied by 3 scoops of ice cream. I cannot believe this was only a £1 less than the chocolate bomb dessert another of our party had. Inside the pub was nice and staff great, if you go have the beef, and steer clear from the cookie.

We booked for a late lunch today. We were greeted in a lovely manner at the check in desk. Our table was ready immediately, which was clean and laid. Our waitress was Gemma, who was brilliant and very professional, an attribute to your company. Drinks were served promptly. Food was delicious, hot and even catered for my request for additional chilli. Overall a great dining experience, we will be back.

Had a lovely late lunch here today. Roast dinner was beautiful and my husband had the seafood linguine which he said was fantastic- the kitchen accommodated his request for extra chilli! Our server Gemma was superb, polite, friendly and went above and beyond, a real credit to the company. Will definitely be back, thanks to all the staff 😀

Giuseppe and Luigi gave us great service. Excellent food, great roast dinner and raspberry sorbet was really fabulous.

A large country gastropub. Good atmosphere, large car park, plenty of tables and seating. The menu is good, if predictable, for a pub like this. The food arrived quickly, was tasty and well-presented. Around £25 head, plus drinks. Great if you’re looking for a beer or something to eat on a summer’s evening. Perhaps a little unimaginative and safe - but none the worse for that. Worth a visit if you’re in the area

We chose the Wavendon Arms as a place to have a meal before going to a show at the Stables just down the road. It is a very large restaurant, with at least 3 separate dining areas. The only poor area to sit would be in the corridor leading to the conservatory - these are for tables for two. The menu is interesting and varied and the prices are a little high, which is the case at a lot of restaurants nowadays. The staff were pleasant and efficient. Unfortunately for those who enjoy a traditional pint of beer the bar, along with so many of this type of gastro pub offer nothing. It's all lager or craft beers no ones heard of. We didn't have time for starters so just went for mains. Two of us pork belly with scallops (?) and the others the chicken breast. Both were good, with the chicken portion being much larger than expected. The menu shows that the chicken is served with gravy with a choice of side sauce available. One of us had only the gravy, the other asked for the chipolte sauce as well. Unfortunately the kitchen poured the chipolte sauce all over the chicken with the gravy supplied in a small pot. We all enjoyed our meal and would return.

Unfortunately, I don't know if this is the norm or a fluke for the evening I went with friends for a birthday celebration, but regrettably the food was awful. I had the crab starter - the bread on which it was served was soggy and the whole dish was tasteless. I had the pork main - my pork was way overdone and extremely chewy. I had callebaut chocolate creme brule which was not at all as described on the menu and tasted awful. I couldn't taste any chocolate, there was no caramelised topping, and the raspberries were not lemon sugared. There was a topping which I think was something like bitter toasted lemon peel which was inedible. I was so disappointed as when I eat out I have always enjoyed the food and I am not a fussy eater. I'd had similar pork at a different restaurant a few days previously which was delicious. The friend immediately next to me did not enjoy their food either - they had the battered banana blossom and found numerous fish bones in the batter. Their chocolate bombe dessert was also a disappointment - the sauce was hardly warm at all and did not melt the bombe. We did not say anything to anyone as we did not want to spoil our friend's birthday celebrations. I hasten to add that I ate here some years ago and the food was good and when I had the chocolate bombe dessert on that occasion the hot sauce did melt the bombe as should happen. I can only assume that my unfortunate experience was a fluke as this the restaurant has good reviews. I am undecided about whether I will return just to see if the bad experience was a one-off.

Absoloutely great meal and sevice today, looked after by the handsome and charming Luigi, my partner and I had lamb rump, which was plentiful, along with the beef and malbec pie, food presentation was great and the food also came out piping hot, desserts were the mini lemon tart with a pot of tea and cookie and ice cream, staff were always on hand if we needed anything further, thank you

Had the most delicious meal here for our 52nd Wedding Anniversary. We ordered sea bass for my husband and I had the Nourish Bowl topped with King Prawn, for dessert I had sticky toffee pudding with ginger icecream and my husband had the chocolate bombed. Such a lovely evening it's always a joy to go there and eat. Staff are courteous and friendly. Thank you. We will be back again

Wavendon Arms is a lovely, cosy and always full off good energy pub/restaurant. It has a lot of space for a family dinner or a Saturday night drink with friends around the fireplace. We come here very often and each time service is outstanding, staff is very friendly and accommodating.
