We rolled up at 7:30PM with a party of 9, and these guys were more than happy to accommodate us and give us a wonderful evening experience. The food and service was great, warm, friendly and hospitable, all in a unique setting. Thank you.

Due to some changes of ownership, I have to hope I'm reviewing the Waterwheel restaurant attached to the Old Mill Hotel (which is where we were staying). It's odd because you can book a table from the hotel, but you can't charge to your room and have to pay as you leave each time. Firstly, this is not a Mediterranean/Seafood restaurant, as claimed in the description, but more bistro-type. We ate there 3 times: first was pretty good, second was awful and the third was indifferent. If we had either of the second two experiences on the first night we wouldn't have gone back. I would have walked out on the second night, but my wife was uncomfortable doing so, and she didn't want to go out on the third night so we risked it again on the strength of the first. As I said, we were happy with the first night and enjoyed both the starter (OK it was only olives) and main course. The only issue was that they said the Thatcher's cider was unavailable and the replacement tasted like fizzy apple juice, but it was still the same price! The second night was the one that made me angry! I can deal with food not being cooked properly, or a long wait, or whatever. What made me angry was being lied to. (I feel sorry for the waitress who had the job of telling me the lie.) We had booked a table and arrived early evening, 7-ish, just behind another couple. After an acceptable time, we had our order taken: starter ( goats cheese tart) and a main course. After 45 minutes I asked what was going on - the couple who arrived at the same time as us had eaten both their starter and main, and another couple who arrived about 15 minutes after us were eating their main course. The waitress disappeared into the kitchen and she was sent out to apologise for the delay but that there was only one chef so he could only prepare one thing at a time. I suggested he should be sacked then! If they had said they'd messed up with the order I would have been annoyed but these things happen. However, given that the first couple had had two course and the other couple were on to their 2nd, the message from the kitchen was patent nonsense and it was that the angered me. I was asked if we'd prefer a starter like olives that wouldn't need and prep, but we said we'd prefer to wait - how long could it take to get a cheese flan on the table? When it arrived, still 15-20 minutes later, it was truly awful. My suspicion was that the delay was not due to a mix-up but that somebody had gone out to Aldi or somewhere (certainly not Waitrose) and bought one of the shelf - except I don't even think it was that good. As it happens, the main course was quite tasty, if belated. We tried again on the third night, against my wishes, decided to skip the starter as too risky in case of a delay, so went for the simple fish and chips. Again, truly awful - I think the fish was commercial frozen fish (again not Waitrose quality, or close). The fish was thin, coated in a hard solid crust that we could have broken the plate with. As for the ambience, there are about 7-8 tables occupying half a room intended for discos etc, with a bar at the other end, and a TV showing the news, along with casual drinkers. There is a "view" of the river, if you get the right table, but the water wheel gets in the way. One evening the local scouts came and started it up, which made it more interesting. I would consider staying at the Old Mill again, for its convenience for Bath, but would cross the bridge to the pub to eat, or go into Batheaston where there are other eateries, including a fish and chip shop. I would consider

An authentic and tasty Italian menu. Restaurant overlooks the Avon. Some might be perturbed by the working waterwheel but it wasn't a problem for us. Staff were polite and friendly. As we were staying at the Old Mill it was very convenient to eat here.

We went to Pomegranate for dinner last night and had the hot and cold mezze platters between the two of us. We both loved the baba ganoush and melitzano on the cold platter in particular. The hot platter was also very good too. I'm usually not a fan of borek, but this one's very light pastry and tasty filling means I'd definitely enjoy it again. We were both big fans of their Turkish chorizo. The staff were really nice and welcoming: it felt genuinely friendly and warm from the start to the end of our evening. It was also great value for money. My only suggestion might be to not have olives on the hot and cold mezze as we had a lot of them, and to make the by-the-glass wine a bit bolder on the menu as I missed it initially. We've been to all the other similar cuisines in Bath, and Pomegranate is definitely the best we've had. We're looking forward to going back soon for their lunchtime special deal, and also to try some of the mains.

It was our first visit, and we were not disappointed. We chose a large selection of small plates and devoured the lot. My favourite was the pork belly, so tender and juicy that it just fell apart, combined with stick molasses that complimented it perfectly. I had a glass of their rose sangria, which was delicious and sweet, and I could easily have enjoyed more. No reservations were taken for small groups, as they say on their website, just turn up. The staff were knowledgeable, really friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was relaxing with music from the 70s being played, which we enjoyed and related to. We arrived at around 12.30 pm, and by the time we departed, it was full.... always a good sign. It was a great find, and we will definitely be returning..... sooner rather than later! Thank you, Pintxo de Bath 🌞

Just had THE most lovely Sunday Lunch here. Been a few times before but today there were 8 of us. Fabulous roast chicken (and roast beef) with lovely Sticky Toffee Pudding after. Very reasonably priced and great staff. Thoroughly recommended.
