The Waters Edge Restaurant in South Norfolk

Very disappointed with trying this place for the first time and was really looking forward to it but will not be returning again. Booked a table for 6 in advance and arrived the 4 of us to be told they couldn’t find our booking. It then took them 10-15 mins to figure out 2 people in our party had already arrived and they had already checked the table in and therefore couldn’t find the booking. The person who we initially spoke to was rude and did not even apologise for making us think we had made up the booking and he even found it funny which we didn’t. Service extremely slow, food very average , lack of attention to detail as only 3 water glasses laid out for the 6 of us and no teaspoons provided with latte we ordered. Don’t waste your money on this place if you like very average over priced , slow and non existent service

My husband and I came in for lunch this afternoon, we didn’t think the food was particularly great! We both had the fish & chips, the fish appeared to have a salmon colour to it! Since we’ve been home my husband can still taste the fish, which isn’t great! My husband thought the lemon cheese cake was tasteless and something a child would make. This is the first time we visited WE and we won’t be coming back!!!

We visited as a family of seven and were immediately disappointed. The young staff looked awkward and stressed, as if they didn’t enjoy working there. Meanwhile, the owner stood arranging lemons and limes, completely ignoring me as I waited at the bar for 10 minutes, despite there being only one other person being served. The food was a disaster. The fish pie was honestly tiny—more like a starter— and barely any fish in it, with just four stems of broccoli and nothing else. The haddock and chips were burnt, paper-thin, and frankly embarrassing to serve. The menu claimed mushy peas, but we got garden peas instead. The cauliflower steak came with just a few tiny cubes of potato. My fish cake arrived, but they forgot my chips. The bean burger was dry as sawdust, and the chicken dish was laughably small. To top it off, the food took an hour to arrive, and for the portion sizes and quality, the prices were ridiculous. Such a shame—we will never return.

We have had a few bad experiences here recently but continued to give the benefit of the doubt. However today was the last visit, it is unacceptable for food to take 1.5 hours to come out of the kitchen after ordering, we weren’t the only ones, many other tables repeatedly asking where their food was and many leaving hungry and disappointed/ angry. When the food did arrive it really wasn’t worth the wait. Sorry but we won’t be back anymore after today.

We visited the Waters Edge for Sunday lunch this week and as always we had a fantastic time. Jilly met us at the quayhead and it was great to get a warm welcome and a hand to moor up, and the front of house team were brilliant. The food, service and atmosphere were all lovely and we all had a smashing time, however as a wee bit of constructive criticism we would welcome a bit more variety on the vegetarian front, but we were all well fed and watered and looking forward to our next visit. We have visited this pub in the summer and the atmosphere has always been friendly and pleasantly enjoyable. However, on our previous visit we endured a whole new experience. On arrival, the staff seemed friendly and took us to our table in what was a very empty restaurant. We ordered our meal, a burger and the pork belly. The burger was average and the pork belly came with an abundance of cabbage, what I could as fried potatoes and pork so tough it could barely be cut. Not to mention the string which was left around the pork belly which wasn’t realised until nearly swallowing. When we mentioned this to the waitress she was not apologetic and seemed to find it irritating we even said anything - perhaps she should’ve realised we just don’t want people choking on it in the future!!! If it wasn’t for the unnecessary high end prices for “pub grub” food, this would be a lovely location to visit.

Found this place whilst sailing in the Norfolk broads. We visited many pubs and restaurants , this was the very best. Being warmly greeted by Cookie, very friendly guy who helped us dock the boat. Very nice decor, clean and warm. The food is fantastic as are the staff. We loved it so much we returned four days later to attend there 1st aniversary of new owners. Hot fork buffet was amazing also a singer, great night was had by all. A very piece full night docked up outside. Will definatly return

Great find. Recommend. Good food, lovely setting. Not easy to find, which is a good thing, dont want everyone to know about it... 😊 Had a dessert, I don't normally. Definitely will be back. Ideal if you are on a boat.

What a great find! First class mooring, superb view, charming and helpful staff who serve great food and delicious wine. We have sailed past often - in future we will always stop! Book your mooring and enjoy one of The Broads best stops. Well done the team Tosha Too for ever!!!!

Great place by the river to while away a few hours. Menu was fairly limited but the food was good. Nice to see a mixture of land lovers and boaties. Lots of space outside in a great location - recommended.

Booked this pub due to the reviews and staying in the Norwich area, ordered the steak, spot on,nicely cooked and a fair price,lovely staff and good.beer thanks.

Excellent food, really fairly priced, great service and in a lovely location overlooking the river. Can highly recommend this, particularly if you’re staying nearby.

We dad a super meal here the staff explained the menu choices and took time with us to ensure that all was as we wanted one of the group had a birthday and stated she should come here every year as it was so nice

Arrive in our campervan without pre-booking. We were met by a very helpful gentleman who assisted us to park so as not to obstruct the small carpark. We then went to book a table for dinner and were told we could stay in our campervan overnight provided we were dining which was fine. Went inside for a meal which was very good with ample portions. Throughout the evening the gentleman who had welcome us outside enquired several times if we were happy as did the landlord, all all the staff we interacted with were friendly and efficient. The pub is a superb location on the Riverside the welcome was fine as was the food it is certainly a place we will visit again. We did not stay overnight as we live only 50 minutes away and it's nice to know that a venue such as this is a short drive away from home congratulations to the owner and all the staff, highly recommended.

Truly fabulous meal,really nice restaurant/pub beautifully decorated service was excellent nothing to much trouble turned up to a very busy evening and was told if your happy to have a drink should be a free table just around 8.30 ,table cleaned sanitised and re laid ready for us at 8.30 staff all lovely will definitely visit again when in area

Visited in our Campervan, and landlord very kindly allowed us to us his car park. This is our first visit, but most definately won’t be our last. Food was superb, cooked to perfection and nicely presented. Although the restaurant was full and very busy, as a customer, there was a no hurry approach, and staff were very attentive and couldn’t do enough for you. A real pleasureable dining experience. Combine this with a stunning location and there is nothing not to like. Highly recommended.

Such a lovely setting next to the tranquil river. I'd come again but for drinks only. Dinner was OK, service OK (there were a few mix ups and delays with food), but starters expensive for what you get (5 prawns for £9).

We were the very loud happy party in the restaurant. The food was wonderful, the restaurant staff attentive and happily tolerant of us. Meeting up with friends after nearly two years could not have been better. If apologies for our volume was needed. Apologies given!

We had a lovely evening here with fantastic food, a nice bottle of wine from a very extensive wine list, that was after a gin martini which was expertly made. The service was first class with very attentive and friendly staff. It was a great evening we always enjoy the hole experience of mooring up outside , having a few drinks and good food served by very nice staff crawl back to the boat have a good nights sleep and then sail away in the morning. Same again next year PLEASE!

A lovely place with lovely hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. Full of locals so you know it is nice.Highly recommended.

We have been coming to WE for 18 years and the first 10 were!!!!! (questionable!!) Lee transformed it 8 years ago and it's smasssssdhhhhhhing. Food, service, reputation, gin, whiskey, bbq...... Just a magical place on the river. Food to suit every palette.... you could take a first night (on line date!) or your great granny and you would not be disappointed. Owner Lee is a character and a bloody hard worker!....... Chef, builder, entrepreneur.... He has built EVERYTHING you see....and spot on with the incredibly irritating covid cr...p!!! He has built pods that are amazing.... phew, I want to marry him 🙈😂😂😂😂 Just want to sing his praises

What a fantastic place!! We were so happy to find this place - beautiful surroundings, lovely attentive staff and fabulous food. Hard to choose a standout dish as all the food was so good but perhaps the minute steak (nothing like rubbish thin minute steaks you sometimes get) or the banana waffle. And a great wine lis too. Lee the owner runs a well organised operation - book a meal here, you won’t be disappointed!
