Sadly this popular waterside pub / restaurant is closed until the landlord's, MDL, Estates Managers sort themselves out and get a new manager in! The delay, currently, six weeks is v / disappointing for users of the marina and the adjacent camp / caravan site. It's now time for the Directors of MDL to, justify their appointment by, quickly getting the issues resolved and the Waters Edge open.

The food here is good, but well overpriced. Service is slightly below average. When I visited, the restaurant was exhibiting a five star food and hygiene rating certificate, while they actually had only three stars, as verified with the authorities. I was very disappointed when I found out that the password for the Wi-Fi was not given to everyone. In my case, all of my friends obtained it, but when I asked for it the lady behind the counter wouldn’t give it to me, saying that it was very slow and I was better off using my own mobile phone data... and I asked twice on two different occasions. I must’ve had an ugly face... The last time I was there, I was kindly asked to leave at 9:15 by the owner, because he had to close.

We arrived almost at the end of food service but we were still given a very warm welcome. The food was really delicious and very good quality. With a great view over the water it was a very lovely evening.

Arriving for a pre-booked table for two at 7:30, the staff - one youg girl trying her best, a very young lad visibly stressed and unhappy, and the manager - who was running the bar and leaving the two youngsters to run the resteraunt. It was about half full, and most of the diners were recieving their food when we sat down - but the trio were clearly swamped. An hour later the Manager wandered casually in to turn on the lights. "Are you the manager?" I asked "Yes" he replied with a one word retort "We have been here an hour and still havent had our food" His reply rather took me by surprise "Well I can cancel your order and I wont charge you for drinks." Normally an apology and the offer of free drinks for the inconvenience are the first offer, and the 'if your not happy you can leave' speech is saved for the last resort. But this guy threw it at me on his first salvo."It's a very busy bank holiday." He said not adding the 'I'm really sorry but....' part at any point. I gestured to the empty tables. He rolled his head in contempt "well as I said, I can cancel your order and I wont charge you for your drinks." We left having enjoyed a free pint of lager, a free glass of wine, and a spectacular view over the upper reaches of the river hamble.

Used website contact email to ask about booking a table, no one answered phone when we rang. Website says they get back to you within 24 hours. Still waiting for them to get back to me by email or phone some 2 weeks later. We went elsewhere instead.

OK, this place has seen better days, but the food is excellent and well presented. Like all marina location eateries, prices are way above average...a tea at £2.45 is motorway services prices, although generally they do not have lovely views over a marina!!! Reasonable choice of beer and lager, a varied wine selection, but again priced at the higher end and the aforementioned food menu make this a venue for a lunchtime meal, where atmosphere comes second to price. The decoration and furniture have obviously been around for a few years and the nautical/yachting themes of the framed prints and paintings, appear to be about 10-15 years old? That said, the manager is very welcoming and seems to know most of his clients well and is obviously liked by the 'locals' from the myriad yachts moored in the marina. There is disabled parking very near...but access to the main bar/restaurant is by stairs (about 20) so keep that in mind. Worth a visit, but don't expect high end comfort.

A beautiful setting on the Hamble river, by far the best bar/restaurant in any of the marinas. Good food, friendly. Recommended.

Friendly staff and excellent service. Must mention the excellence of the fish and chips at ten in the morning after a Chanel crossing on our yacht! Really good

I cannot rate everyone at the Waters Edge highly enough! On a perfect sunny September's afternoon we led our wedding party to this delightful restaurant overlooking the marina. From the moment our guests stepped out of their cars in the beautiful sunlight to the moment they staggered back into the taxis when night had long fallen, the Waters Edge was complimented on every single level! We were only a small wedding party at around 25 plates for the sit down meal but we were treated with the respect, dignity and professionalism as I expect they would treat a party four times the size! The planning stage was efficient and relaxed with Nick, Melanie and James doing as much as they could to make our day the most special it could be. The setting of the restaurant, overlooking the white boats bobbing up and down in the glimmering water, is impressively beautiful. The place settings and decorations were elegant and not over stated. The service at all times was completed with a smile and a nod. The food was absolutely sublime; there were two well-established chefs sat with knife and fork in hand, only for each course to be devoured and an empty plate to be returned. When it came to the disco there was never a complaint with the level of the music or the level of dancing prowess. And then there was the buffet; it was the buffet of Kings. Just when we thought it could not get any better there was a firework display over the marina that lit up the sky and topped what was quite frankly the best reception we could ever have dreamed of (admittedly the firework display was not put on by the Waters Edge, but it was the best place to watch it happen!) If you ever want to put on a wedding reception where the food is exceptional on all occasions (we have eaten there four times, and each time we are taken aback by the quality of the food), the setting is as beautiful as anywhere on the south coast and the service is friendly, professional and never stuffy... this is the place! The Waters Edge simply was the best choice for our reception. Towards the end of the night some of the patrons of the bar asked to join the party and get on the dance floor; this only added to the atmosphere of the place. Excellent on all levels!

We have just got home after a great meal at the King Rufus, the food was fantastic and the service, was good, we were served by quite a few of the staff who were on duty and they were all very professional. Looking forward to our next visit for either Breakfast or Dinner. Louisa

We had a friends/family night at the Fox, there was over 100 of us, Food buffet style. Well presented, very tasty curry and chilli, pizza option with fries, plus trimmings. The staff worked tireless, I would and my guests recommend the pub. It's been down on its luck but with new manageress and great chef additions recently, can be the place to visit. Thanks and good luck all.

A good solid pub that serves food and has good ambience. I was very grateful to them because it was 1030pm on a Tuesday and they still served me unlike a pub down the road that had already closed. Nice friendly young team. Next time I will come back earlier and try the food.

Return visit and not disappointing. To cold to sit outside this time, but wonderful atmosphere inside this traditional public house. Staff attentive and both my wife and I had beautifully presented and tasty lunches. Pleased we decided to return.
