The Waterloo Inn, Nash Village in Newport

Very disappointing Sunday lunch. Last time I visited some time ago was excellent. However, today inedible. Had the four meat selection. Three of the meats were inedible as poor quality meat, and tough, chewy, flavourless. Put my meat on partners plate and even he left it. Put me off rest of meal. The Yorkshire was freezer burnt so no luck there. Either they have changed owners or chef. Won’t be going again for Sunday lunch for sure.

Last week I threw an engagement party at the Waterloo Inn. Lauren, the owner, was so helpful from the very beginning from planning through to the entire night! The girls working that night were amazing as well. Can’t thank the whole team enough for helping us have such a fun night!

The food is absolutely stunning and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. My kids ate everything on the plate so winner winner. Will definitely go back and would highly recommend a try.

Ordered for takeaway for Sunday lunch, I had all the meats, extra roasties, all veg just no cauliflower, was all ready for me to pick up in 30 mins, care was taken with all the food wrapped in cling film inside containers and was piping hot ready for me to take back and eat, food was delicious, Sunday lunch/cooked dinner is the best out there, would defo recommend

Very disappointing meal, came here once before and it was lovely so wanted to come back but food was cold and nothing like our last visit. One older staff member seemed like they couldn’t be bothered with anything and when we told her our food was cold she just laughed and said they would have microwaved it! such a shame as it was really good before but won’t be returning

Thought the one staff member was pretty lazy and rude, some were nice though. Food was also rubbish and the beef was definitely off. Hygiene should be checked again can't be serving up that with a 5.

Probably the best food I've had. Nothing was to much trouble. The mixed grill was stunning. If you give it a go, you won't be sorry.

Brilliant deal: 2 meals for a tenner and a £1 a pint......

I had heard great reviews about this place for sunday lunch so we made the journey to sample it. On arrival at prime time dinner service it was practically empty. We got seated to wherever we wanted and drinks order taken immediately. The pop came back and was flat, we then ordered our meals. They came within 7 minutes, the food was that hot, i think it had been microwaved to death. Nothing on the plate was seasoned, very bland, the broccoli, carrots and peas (all frozen veg) was bendy and limp. The yorkshire pudding was over done and flat. Gravy was tasteless, so not a good visit. We decided to just eat what we could of our food and leave. I think we were only in there 40 minutes from start to finish. A total waste of time and money.

We've been here a couple of times now, stopping off for a refreshing drink while on a country walk through the Levels. The pub is in a lovely spot, on a quiet lane, opposite the beautiful old church and looking out over the countryside, with sheep in the fields. I normally drink cask ales, which they don't serve here, but the cider was very nice, and the service was very pleasant too. On the most recent visit I also noticed someone tucking in to a meal that looked pretty appetising to me, so I think we'll probably be back some time to have food as well.

Love this pub, a real community pub. Great home style hearty food. Great portions, good value and a new regular place for us. Dog friendly to !

Food was plenty, service was good, good price only minor compliant was waiting time , BUT It was on the tail' end of bank holiday Easter Sunday rush hour

We Had Sunday lunch on this occasion. It was excellent. Roast potay, meat and Yorkshire puddings deserve special mention. Starts much appreciated by my family and desserts eagerly devoured. Because it is genuinely homemade, delivery isn't instant. It's not a long wait by any means, but you'll appreciate the difference.

Excellent Sunday lunch. Just good home cooking. That takes a little extra time, not excessive. So don't be in a rush.

Went for the breakfast with Santa was decorated lovely. Santa was really patient and looked great. Good selection of food for the kids they had colouring and bubbles given to them also. Would definitely return if they do it next year.

Visited on a Saturday evening, Excellent food with very generous portions and we were made to feel very welcome despite our group being a bit covered in filth having come straight from work!. Homemade Lasagne was delicious - my only complaint is that I was too full afterwards to try the cheesecake which looked amazing!

Booked for meal and to enjoy a tribute act Neil Diamond who i love the restaurant was so cold i couldn't take my coat off . The food came out the fish was very watery so to be fair i was offered an alternative and we were moved into the bar which was warmer but we were there for the tribute act that was playing in the restaurant. My replacement meal took over 20 min to arrive by this time my husband had finished his food . We went back into the restaurant side but there were no seats to then enjoy the act . we dont get the chance to go out very often so i was looking forward to an evening out very disappointed 😔

Rang ahead, Food lovely, open fire. Room for 2 high campers as there is now a height barrier but could park close by. Friendly staff and locals, enjoyed our stay here. Under new management since the summer 2023

A lovely village pub where the staff were all friendly and helpful. It was our second visit and the service was spot on.Our order was taken very quickly and our Sunday roast came out piping hot. It was a enjoyable Sunday afternoon and we both left very full. Looking forward to going back very soon

I have been twice to the Waterloo in, once for Sunday lunch and other for Saturday lunch and both experiences have been amazing. The food is the highlight of the experience, with beautiful hand made food you can tell love has gone into every plate. The Sunday dinner was the best I’ve had in a long time, I couldn’t finish it all and it was all beautiful. I had the way burger and chips on Saturday and that also impressed me. Well done to the team who couldn’t do enough to help! I Will be returning over and over again.

Everytime I visit, the food is always amazing. It is home cooked and delicious and the portions are always plenty! The price is insane for the quality and there is something to suit everyone! Cannot recommend enough.

I’ve been to the Waterloo inn a few times in the past few months since Lauren has taken over and every time the food has been spot on. Each time the food is always a perfect example of super comforting home cooking which is served fresh and piping hot. There is always plenty to choose from the menu, with ever changing specials. The winter warmer menu that’s running at the moment is a perfect example of this! The price you pay for what you get is fantastic, the normal prices regardless of any of the deals is good value but there’s also offers running through the week that offer various things at 2 for £20. Couldn’t recommend a visit here enough.

Lovely pub. Nice selection of alcoholic beverages. Staff very welcoming. Desserts in chiller fridge looked phenomenal wish I could have tried them but too full after main meal. Nice menu average pub prices. I had steak medium rare. It was cooked to perfection with homemade onion rings and the most amazing home made chips - nothing frozen to be seen here. Tomato, peas and mushrooms included made a fantastic meal. My friend had the chicken and the portion was vast and tasted delicious also served with homemade chips. Cannot understand why this pub wasn't full of people. The location is lovely opposite the church, plenty of parking and if you are a parent there's a park next to the pub for the children. I would highly recommend trying this pub and food for yourself as I will be returning soon.

Lovely homemade Sunday Lunch. We had the prawn cocktail and the homemade tomato soup to start - both delicious. Main course was a Choice of meats, plenty of vegetables. We were way to full for dessert but they looked amazing. Will come again

Popped in for a late lunch with 3 adults and 4 children, good, friendly service and really good food, also very reasonable, will definitely be back.

My Mum and I visited the Waterloo Inn yesterday for a meal. Nice, airy and clean pub and restaurant, staff friendly , Food tasty and reasonably priced. An enjoyable experience. We will return.

Visited with family for Sunday lunch and wasn't disappointed! All food homecooked with proper gravy and plenty of everything too! Staff were attentive and we were made to feel really welcome as soon as we arrived. Thoroughly enjoyed it and we will definitely be visiting again.

From start to finish this visit was a disaster. Don’t even know where to start. Waitresses didn’t have a clue. Wrong drinks, wrong meals, turning up without vegetables and no cutlery. Some had finished their meals by the time others got theirs. We had to ask for everything. By the time vegetables came out the gravy had congealed in the jug Meat was tough which for chicken is hard to believe. So much left on plates but none of the staff asked why. Everyone got wrong desserts, no cream left for those that wanted it, icecream machine not working. None of the dirty plates were removed before bringing desserts. Total waste of money. Never will return.

Loads of flies hard to eat food with them landing on the food in your face the food was OK lamb was very bland beef was OK. Got a good d plate full for 12.95. Nice location tho. One Waitress bit abrupt other 2 was lovely.

We don't live far away from this pub around 2 miles. We have used it quite a bit in the last year, Staff are excellent friendly and professional. The recent management have just left after the 5 year lease they had expired, gone on to do other things. We wish them all the best. They were excellent. The new staff have taken over and some used to be part of the old management. I see from a previous review that the service was slow. We had Sunday lunch here last week and service was good, I expect it will get better and better. They also will accept campers on the car park but call ahead. It has lift able height barriers. Pub is tired decoratively speaking but is far surpassed by the food and service. Lets hope the syndicate or family that own it, (not the present management who don't) put some money into sprucing it, especially the carpets. definitely need doing. But on the whole, well worth a visit anytime

Very slow service, it took 35 minutes for a tuna mayo sandwich and a ham sandwich to be served. The food, however, when it arrived was very good. Friendly staff, and I believe the owners only took over on the day we visited. I'm sure once your staff have been fully trained, things will go from strength to strength.

We came across this pub via @Britstopsuk. What a find. Lovely friendly welcome, large carpark. On the edge of the wetlands bird reserve. Honest pub grub food with generous portions, good value too. We will definitely return when in the area again.

Went to the Waterloo inn Nash to celebrate our great grandaughter first birthday and have a meal. The food was cooked to perfection and great value we will be going again well done to all the staff keep doing what you do thank you 🙂

We found this pub by accident originally as it's out of the way. But what a find it was. We've been back a few times now and haven't been disappointed. The staff are amazing, extremely helpful and friendly, The food is homemade and tastes fantastic. We would definitely recommend here and we'll definitely be returning again.

Won't be revisiting. Yorkshire pudding undercooked and flat as a pancake, meat was really thin and not much of it, potatoes burnt, vegetables really soft and overcooked, gravy had a burnt taste to it. The only nice thing was the apple sauce.

What a fabulous pub! Great food, incl vegan/veggie, quiet location. Excellent for campervans, nice and secure. Best thing though, lovely staff. I was made to feel like I was at home from the moment I arrived. Highly recommend!

Visited yesterday lunchtime for the first time. Hit a slightly busy patch behind some Friday lunch regulars calling in from work. Fair choice of dishes on menu and some tasty specials. The food is all freshly cooked good home cooking, offering value for money. Portion sizes are generous. Staff were all welcoming and friendly. Open every day except Tues. We will be back, thank you.

The food here is the best pub food in the area. The owners and staff are lovely . Chicken curry is my fav, the chips are incredible. Consistently good Sunday lunch is also delicious x

Ordered three day's special. Chicken was marinated dry and hard no sauce with it. Hard to eat . The fried egg that came with the ham and chips, was over cooked and hard.every chef should know how to cook a simple fried egg. Not happy

We went to the Waterloo Inn based on the great reviews. Judging from the crowded restaurant it seemed to be a popular place. We sat outside since there was very little place inside. The inn is adjacent to a church and overlooks a graveyard. We...

We stayed the night here with our campervan. Extremely friendly and helpful owners. Good food. Dogs and campervans welcome. I recommend to try the different ciders. Definitely worth a visit.

Food was stunning, staff were friendly, couldn't do enough for you. There were 13 of us, for Sunday dinner, food was hot, veg kept coming, gravy boats, extras nothing was too much trouble....we mostly all ate together....lol....and don't even start me on how good the deserts were.....yum yum...I will definitely be going back...well we did book again whilst we were there...

Had first walk in the Newport Wetlands area and stopped for a beer ,baguettes and sandwiches at lunchtime. Food was excellent and well-presented, and the lady who served our food was most obliging. Were able to take our dog into the bar and were well-received....

A few of us tried the pub out after a walk and were pleasantly surprised. The food was great value and nice and the staff were amazing and accommodating. I had a dog which they welcomed in the bar area, they also kindly provided a bowl of water whilst making a fuss of him.
