After a longish day on the boat it was a relief to revisit the Waterfront at Pewsey Wharf. The friendly welcome and the well kept and served ales were as good as we remembered. The food was delicious. We had arrived on Thursday ‘Supper Night’ where you order from a tempting list of mains and get your first drink included for a very reasonable £14.50. We ordered the battered haddock and skinny fries with homemade tartar sauce and petit pois. I really enjoyed the generous serving of perfectly cooked fish in crunchy batter with a generous portion of fries which remained crispy for the whole meal. (Fat chips are also available for some reason) We declined puds but they looked traditional and hearty. Pleased to thoroughly recommend this lovely, friendly, unpretentious pub/bistro.

Very warm and welcoming pub on the canal at the end of a beautiful walk over Martinsell Hill. Beautifully cooked pork ribs, fresh haddock in delicious light batter with samphire salad and extremely generous portions. Sharps ales on tap, very friendly staff and good chat with owner and chef, Keith.

Large pub with food. Loads of space inside, and even more outdoors right next to the K&A canal. Slightly shabby, but all the nicer and more genuine for that. Some real ale on cask too.

After reading some of the reviews on here, it’s hard to believe we were in the same place. So run down it’s embarrassing. Frontage tatty and unloved - no pretty tubs of flowers like in the photos. Garden unkempt, long grass, untrimmed hedges so no views. Dirty, mould-covered marquee covering most of the outside seating. Inside, the whole downstairs area was closed off including the toilets (tough if you’re disabled). Flight of stairs up to upstairs bar and then flight of external steps back down to garden. Bar was tired and dated, tables sticky, upstairs loos had no paper towels. Open for drinks only the day we went which wasn’t a problem as we certainly wouldn’t have eaten there. Such a shame as it’s in a location to die for.

Went here today (30/04/23) and what a disappointment. The Sunday dinner came out with no Yorkshire pudding and when i pointed this out i was told it would be another 15 minutes….it never came. The stuffing was actually that cold i presumed it had come straight from the fridge. The vegetables were cold to touch and very few provided. When asked how was the meal and i explained it was cold and missing items the reply was ‘ohh i was never told that’ then nothing further was said. Terrible food, not much better service, no apology, waste of time and money.

Last year, we had one of the best Sunday lunches ever at The Waterfront so this year we took a special detour to repeat the experience. The lamb meal was average at best with both the cauliflower and roast potatoes having a strange taste. The vegetarian option was a disaster and we should have sent it back. It was a beetroot wellington, overspiced with cinnamon. The chef could not find the dish (pre-prepared and frozen) and seems to have microwaved it - not a good move with puff pastry, and it was served as a rubbery mess of pastry surrounding something that tasted more of a hot-cross bun than a vegetarian roast. Sorry but we won't be going again.

The place is not running on all cylinders. I filled In the online contact form at the pub’s website to request a table for lunch on a Wednesday in March. Heard nothing back. Turns out the website is vestigial and the landlord doesn’t use it anymore. So when we got there after a 5-mile walk, the kitchen was closed and we could only have a drink and crisps. The cider was good though.

Fantastic location for a pub on the canal. Went in for a drink and everything was out of stock (ales and ciders) so ended up with a lager and a diet coke. The bar lady, who wasn't very friendly, and wasn't "rushed off her feet as per the comments below" was more interested taking someone around on a tour as "this will be a house", so is the plan to run the pub down and claim "it's not viable" so it can be turned into residential accommodation? Great pub if it were run properly.

We arrived in Pewsey village on our barge, a group of 4, we moored up and looked forward to having a nice pub meal on the canal waterside. After visiting the waterfront bar and bistro at 5.30pm to enquire about the menu and availability of eating that evening, we were told that there was no menu to look at as the chef was not in until 6pm, once the chef was in, we were told we could then come back and veiw the menu and it would be fine for us to eat that evening. We returned to the pub at 7pm , only to be told that 2 other tables of 4 people had booked prior to us returning, and after checking with the chef the bar maid was told to say to us that there was no room or food available for us to eat, we had no food on board the barge, so we were recommended by visitors in the pub to try the local Indian restaurant. It was a 15 minute walk into Pewsey, with one of our group of 4 poorly and unable to walk very far, but once there , we had an excellent meal and we highly recommend the Tale of spice Indian restaurant, they could not have been more helpful and the food was delicious.

We were almost finished our mains when another dog came in (naturally they all bark and say hello) they were then quiet again. The waitress came over to tell us is the dogs weren’t quiet we’d have to put them in the car!!! I cannot believe that any human being would think that is acceptable? With all the dog thefts and over heating of dogs in the car. If you can’t handle a few barks then don’t allow dogs at all! We left very cross and wouldn’t go back! Which is a shame because we’ve met at this half way point a lot, I’m sure there are other places to eat in the village

I was called a couple of hours prior to collecting to run through the procedure to ensure safety in terms of social distancing. The meals came in takeaway tubs on collection tucked safetly into a bag. I've eaten inside the bistro on a few occasions and the meals are amazing. Really friendly, good food and lots of it. Comfortable and caters for all, vegetarians too - the home made veggie burger is second to none, and I’ve had a few! Lobster bisque and crevettes were really excellent. Hubby loved the ribs. Dogs on leads are welcome. Short but steep flight of stairs to access the dining room, so not suitable for everyone. It’s not fine dining, nor does it pretend to be, it’s good honest food, varied menu, served by lovely staff in a barge-like decorated dining room/bar. Good size car park. Make sure someone in your party is reasonably sober on your exit - canal very close by!

Went for a really nice walk along the canal and stopped off at the Waterfront, looked to be a really nice country pub. Was surprised to see it was a “bistro”, as menu was - roast, burger or a roll. Ordered a roll and chips and “halloumi burger”. Was disappointed when the food came to find the chips had been really overally salted, had the stalk of a lettuce on my plate for salad, ham and mustard roll was dripping with mustard and a halloumi burger was a thin slice of halloumi cut in two.. also noticed when ordering the chef shouting at waiting staff which made the experience awkward. Felt like was in an episode of Ramsey’s Kitchen Nightmares. Lovely venue with loads of promise and just a bit meh.

We were on route from Warminster back to Swindon and I made a detour to come here, I have eaten here once before, had lunch with my boss, so I thought I would treat my stepfather.

We were going to eat here today as on holiday in the area and stumbled across it during a walk along the canal. Arrived 10 minutes before opening and staff member, who I can only assume was the landlord, was very rude and unwelcoming - left with distinct impression this was a locals only pub

It is all to infrequent you visit a pub and have such a nice meal. The rise of "gastro pubs" such as spoons and the ilk have made finding something like the waterfront a real treat. The food is exceptional. I have visited a few times and had the roast which was special, the burger on a monday night is a proper piece of cooking and the mussels are to die for. The service is prompt and friendly without being overbearing like is too often seen as the mark of good service. The beer is good and varied and in the winter the roaring fire is a pleasure. Beware you may spend considerably more time here than you anticipate.

We met in Upavon stopped for coffee and decided we would lunch in Pewsey near The Kennet and Avon canal where we could walk before and after our lunch. We booked a table at The Waterfront Bar & Bistro. The car park charges £1 for 4 hours. We had time to spare and we set off to walk along the towpath. The pub is great it is an old building with lots of character and ‘characters’. The staff and locals are very friendly. We ate in the bar upstairs at a circular table with a lovely view over the countryside. The Sunday roasts were excellent and very generous helpings. I had beef, the others in our party ordered beef and lamb. I can recommend the rhubarb crumble to follow. We walked in the other direction along the towpath and returned to the pub garden for an ice cream at the booth in the garden that also includes a small shop, great for barge owners and walkers.

Fine stop on our way from the Cotswolds to Stonehenge. Quick service and tasty sandwiches and spare ribs! We enjoyed the garden with view on the river!

Came here around 6 weeks ago and had the lamb burger and i've been raving about it since! Then booked a table for last Sunday night for dinner and was very excited. We had 4 roasts and 1 burger. The food came quickly. The burger was fine. Unfortunately the roasts were a different story. The gravy was as thin as water and tasteless, the carrots were so raw you could snap them (I like slightly crunchy veg but this was completely raw), the yorkshires were very dry and the majority of each parsnip was complete charcoal. The lamb meat was slightly overcooked and not pink but was delicious. The broccoli was fine.

Won’t be back - coffee ok but woeful miserable staff. A smile, a bit of engagement, even eye contact makes a difference - you want to feel welcome rather than an intruder. Surely when money is tight places realise they might have to go that bit extra to encourage people to go back.

Unfortunately unable to review accomodation, food or service as we were double booked. Apparently landlords wife responsible for this so she was summoned. Landlord then completely ignored us and didnt even offer us a seat let alone an apology, this was left to his wife. She didnt seem well and was apparently in hospital at the time of our booking. She went away, 20 mins later produced £140 to cover the cost at premier inn who had ample availability and she had phoned them. Premier Inn denied any phone calls from Helen. They had one room which went whilst we were trying to book it. Plenty of certificates of awards, shame they are so old and tatty like the pub. I hate being lied to but rudeness, lies and facing a night in the car... Dont book here, disgraceful performance. Tired and niaive, should have insisted they booked it in front of us! Took the edge off Bath Christmas market tbh!

We popped in this cafe during our 80 mile walk for some much needed hot food . The staff were fantastic, especially the waitress who couldn’t help us enough
