I'd like yo say a "standard" English pub, but this is a bit more dated than it should be, atmosphere is off and the staff (the evening I visited) are unpleasant but overworked /short-staffed to be fair

The pub is lovely, but the service was very poor. The bartenders were not attentive, we had to ask for food and they didn’t mention that some mains were missing, so I had to go to the bar 4 times to place the order. And the time between the first person served and the last was 20 min, despite the pub being empty.

We had dinner booked on a barge on the canal, so popped in here for a drink beforehand. It was the hottest day of the year, but the high ceilings (and a ceiling fan) with a through draught made the temperature inside acceptable. Very efficient staff and very well kept Timothy Taylor meant the quick drink led to three. Very pleasant, nicely old fashioned interior and a very attractive area.

Ooft. Bad experience. Used to come have drinks here a bit. Hadn't been back in a while so popped in to check it out. 1. Some kid sat with headphones on taking up the only free table. So we stood at the bar. Eventually he got up and left. Turns out he was working behind the bar and took up the only free table on a busy night for the hell of it 2. Ordered a neck oil. Had zero head. I ordered a repour. Bar tender said neck oils don't have head on them. First I've heard of that. He repoured it with no head again and said "see I told you, no head". Right. Tasted flat and sad. 3. Ordered a burger. Took 30 min to come and was stone cold. Patty was barely cooked and bun was cold to the touch. Chips were lukewarm. Returned it and got a refund (I think) Went to the Prince Alfred instead and they poured me a neck oil with the perfect amount of head.

The food was tasty but I only gave it 4 stars as the kiev lacked a buttery inside and the peas were far too oniony. Be nice if the front door closed as the cold and smell of farts a bit off putting but the team dealt with it. Will definitely come again, nice down to eat but good place.

My recent visit to Warwick Castle Pub left me thoroughly disappointed. Despite the website indicating that food service extends until 9 pm, I arrived at 8:02 pm only to be met with an unwelcoming atmosphere and unhelpful staff. Upon arrival, I encountered a bartender who seemed more interested in enforcing arbitrary rules than accommodating customers. Despite pointing out that it was merely 2 minutes past the supposed kitchen closure time, I was met with rudeness and a refusal to even consider serving. The response I received was not only unprofessional but downright disrespectful. As a result, I chose to take my business elsewhere and stumbled upon a delightful French restaurant on Formosa Street. The stark contrast in service and hospitality only emphasized the shortcomings of Warwick Castle Pub. It's a shame because the pub itself boasts a beautiful ambiance, but the discrepancy between advertised opening times and actual service, coupled with the discourteous staff, left me perplexed and frustrated. It's incomprehensible why a venue would mislead customers and then fail to handle such situations with basic decency. In conclusion, I cannot recommend Warwick Castle Pub based on my experience. Potential patrons beware: inconsistent opening hours and inhospitable staff may tarnish what could otherwise be an enjoyable dining experience.

Been going to this pub over the years and can’t fault the location. However, a group of four all had a few nibbles one weekend recently and for days afterwards had terrible stomach complaints. We felt best to report it to be on side of caution, and would have just left it at that. However, the ‘head office’ from Greene King (chain owners alas), were entirely dismissive. There was simply ‘no chance’ a group of four, all from separate households, who came to the pub for 2 hours and felt terrible for days after, could have picked this up at the pub. This I’m afraid is simply not the ideal way to treat customers who had only the intention of passing on feedback. To dismiss out of hand is not what we accept. We then looked at reviews others have offered of the pub and the food. Not all are good. Therefore the chances of our stomach complaints having originated at the pub, should never have been dismissed out of hand. Additionally, on the day we visited we spent much less time than planned. Unfortunately the atmosphere where apparently new, inexperienced staff are being almost reprimanded for how they are serving drinks, made us feel uncomfortable and we left. Anyway, not to be say more than if we were ever to revisit the pub, food for us, would be off the menu.

Felt rushed the minute we arrived, we were told kitchen was closing at 8:30pm so we should order asap. Given limited menu (unlike the options we read on the website and were told this was due to “a missed delivery”) with 4 mains, 2 of which were vegan. Ordered straight away including dessert (only one option to choose from). Meals arrived 50 mins later. Fish and chips and fish of the day were ok but nothing special. Went into this pub today and ordered half a bitter and an orange juice. Pro - at least they sell some bitter. However these two small drinks came to £8 and change. Maybe they do Oasis-style dynamic pricing of a Friday night/pay day to relieve the pressure on the groaning wallets of the city traders. Or maybe they charge these prices all week. Either way it's a rip off.
