Went there on a Tuesday evening with my wife. Upon arrival, I was told there is a queue and we needed to wait, however people who were arriving and telling the bouncer there's someone from their group inside were let in. That is a strange arrangement in my opinion. Having waited around 5 minutes, I was let in and my wife joined soon after. We were invited to a table and 2 menus were brought to us: wine and food. For the wine, we went with 2 glasses of rose, and for the food we went for the European charcuterie and cheese board for 2/3 people. I must say that we were both very disappointed with the amount of food on the sharer board, especially as it was advertised as for 2/3 people and it costed £40. The gorgonzola cheese on the board had a very unpleasant taste as well and we had to leave it. The establishment is more like a winter garden with tables under heated canopies. Final bill was £65 that we had to pay before getting any of the food and drinks and we got no receipt for it. The high price is due to the location, and this was the first and last time coming here.

Gordon's Wine Bar is a charming London institution that has maintained its old-world allure. Set in a historic cellar, the ambiance is cozy and atmospheric, perfect for an intimate night out or a quiet glass of wine with friends. The extensive wine list offers a great range of options, and the prices are quite reasonable, especially considering the central London location. The food menu is solid, with an excellent selection of cheeses and charcuterie boards to complement the wine. Everything feels carefully curated and adds to the relaxed, rustic vibe. The outdoor seating area is also a nice touch, though it can get busy, especially on warmer evenings. One area where Gordon’s Wine Bar can be a bit hit or miss is the service. Some staff members are warm, friendly, and attentive, adding to the overall experience. However, there are times when the service feels a little indifferent, with some staff seeming less engaged. Despite this occasional inconsistency, it’s hard not to enjoy the charm and character of the place. Overall, Gordon’s Wine Bar remains a must-visit for wine lovers looking for an authentic experience in London.

I really like Gordon's and I visit 2-3 times per month; it's well situated with an extensive menu. However a few things here are a bit odd... - Port is served in a water beaker rather than anything a bit more dignified leaving you looking like you're drinking squash - The pricing on cheeseboards is peculiar. It is better value to opt for two slices than three - Payment is taken immediately upon ordering - understandable given the risk of dine and dash but the inclusion of an automatic service charge that you are not given the opportunity to review in an itemized way before paying seems sneaky Would return but the above are always irksome.

Just like another contributor I remember dining here decades ago, so with some time to spare before taking a speedboat from embankment to the Thames Flood Barrier why not enjoy some wine and cheese and maybe a homemade scotch egg. Sunday 11th August and intensely hot I asked to sit inside. Seating area so dark could not read menu, so took menu to bar where there was adequate lighting but no seating for me. I ordered and was told to go back to my darkly lit seat or head outside. Thought that give my many years ofhistory with Gordons I would do as I was told and sit outside, as at least bright though overly hot. Then I was told I coild not order items from bar, as outside is a different system and I would have to wait and order again from scratch. I despair, this was just too much and of course I then left and so did many decades of great memories dining here.

Sadly I took a close business associate to this restaurant on the recommendation of Trip Advisor We had travelled all day from different cities to different hotels to meet at the About Thyme Restaurant it was very closed and so far we have been told it has been that way for many months May I suggest that TA keeps their records up to date as with most technology it is driven by humans and is only as good as the information that is put in This was a very expensive mistake Obviously in future I will always check that TA is accurate I have always enjoyed TA and intend doing so in the future but please update your records
