Came here not long ago, great vibe but so busy so staff weren’t as attentive compared to the cost. Don’t let that stop you, still a lovely spot, worth a visit

A must-visit place if you’re in London. The indoor cave sets the mood to everything. Ordered the cheese platter and the portion was generous, butter was good, everything went well together. One area that could have been better would be for the serving staff to be more equipped with wine and cheese pairing and recommend someone like me who’s isn’t savvy with wines but would love to try and get the best tasting experience.

Very cool bar, the service was good and the wine was amazing. The interior is very cool and has a great atmosphere. We had a table outside however had to ask to move as there was loads of mice running about, judging by the staffs reaction they are always there, a bit grim and off putting not sure if we’ll be back which is a shame.

Get there before 4pm if you want to sit in the wine cave! The wine list is immaculate and the atmosphere is everything. This is my favorite moment from our London trip and can’t thank the staff enough for our time there! We did not get any food. We’re lucky to be short enough to fully stand up in the cave but it’s small enough it’s worth the hunch over to get your table if you’re taller.

Trendy, popular wine bar and for a reason - the wine is all good quality and the sharing boards/platters are generous. It’s not cheap but is typical of central London and felt like value for money. A little gem in a great location.

Always a great experience but wish they would add a vegan options or two to their food options.

Inside is dark and dinghy but the outside terrace is lovely

Very desirable place to visit and I'm glad we did, had a small celebration over a wonderful glass of wine. It's so central and lively, hard to get a spot as there is a waiting list but certainly worth visiting by anyone coming to London, recommended 100% ☆☆☆☆☆

Hidden gem in Westminster. Has lots of tables to sit outside but if you do you are missing the charm of this place; which inside looks like it was an old wine cellar. Real food selection of wines, great selection of cheese to accompany the wine. A one not to be missed.

If you visit London and enjoy wine, then you will want to visit Gordon's bar. Its unique cave bar provides a relaxed atmosphere. The prices can be dear, but it's worth it. There is also an outdoor seating area if the cave is not your taste. The only disappointment in our visit was the food.

A very busy historic bar, worth a visit as it's quirky with great wine, but very busy and some of the staff are grumpy.

If you want to have a London experience you have to come to this place.

This place was soo cool. You are basically eating/drinking in a cave. The food was great, and the wine was even better. I will save you some time with this trick. If you are trying to eat inside you do not have to wait in the long line outside instead just go down to the underground entrance.

Used to love this bar back when it was only candle-lit and there was no music. I miss the charm of how it used to be. At some point they stopped taking cash and the servers all started wearing headsets. Glad I got to stop by plenty of times before that happened

Wasps everywhere. Really poor food. Massively salty pork pie. Dry flavourless burrata. Soggy tomatoes. Good service.

Very good service,not cheap by any means. Generous cheeseboard and condiments.

We sat inside for 1.5 hrs. We were next in line waiting for a table in the cave. It did take us 30 mins to get on the list as the staff gave the cold shoulder and ignored you. Then while waiting there was just a lack of giving a crap. No menu, no service. We were asked if we wanted food as it was the last call but they did not provide a menu. The cave is pretty cool but if you just find a random cave anywhere the Service will be about the same......haha none! Finally we decided to just leave. I couldn't even begin to say if the wine or cheese was worth it but the awful service alone is a reason I'd never recommend someone coming here. Staff seemed very interested in their own lives.

A great place for London tourists. The deco is amazing, every corner has a story to tell. The wine list is quite decent with the bread and cheese platters stealing the show. Probably, the best French baguette I've ever tried. Crunchy, fresh and full of flavour. In the summer time the outside seating is really pleasant next to the Victoria gardens.

Would highly recommend, we finally made it here after wanting to come for over a year. We did get here about 430 and were able to walk straight in. Just beware that if you come after work, there is usually a queue. Great selection of wines which we were very impressed with, Had the two cheeseboard as well which I would highly recommend. The only slight thing that let it down was the service, it didn’t seem like they were too interested in serving, more speaking to one another.

A really unique experience. I recommend sitting inside the cave as it is romantic and a bit creepy. Cheese plate was more than enough for two (good size portions). Wine was great, only gave lower stars because we got our cheese plate first and had to ask where our wine was, took about 20 minutes to get it; most tables got it within a couple minutes.

Enjoyed the experience and wine but we went in with very high expectations after reading reviews and the website. It definitely felt touristy but they turn tables fast - most tables around us came in for one drink, and then left. Worth visiting but not sure I’d go out of the way.

We popped in here as it looked pretty and fancied some lunch pre theatre show. Nice wine, great menu, we had scotch egg salad and the vegan mezze. The ambience was lovely and service was good. Had the option to sit inside/outside we chose out and then smoking/non smoking/sun/shade. Would go back again if in the area. Next time will choose the cheeses as they looked delicious!

One of my favourite places to go in London. Sitting outside when the weather is good is great but sitting down in the tunnels is another level. Food and service is top drawer.

I really like Gordon's and I visit 2-3 times per month; it's well situated with an extensive menu. However a few things here are a bit odd... - Port is served in a water beaker rather than anything a bit more dignified leaving you looking like you're drinking squash - The pricing on cheeseboards is peculiar. It is better value to opt for two slices than three - Payment is taken immediately upon ordering - understandable given the risk of dine and dash but the inclusion of an automatic service charge that you are not given the opportunity to review in an itemized way before paying seems sneaky Would return but the above are always irksome.

Get out of the heat - get into the vaults instead!

My favourite wine bar in the whole world! Been coming here for decades and I never tire of it. Quirky, candle lit, historical and charming. A great way to step back in time. The terrace outside is great on a sunny day. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Service is quick and. This is a wine bar so I don't think there are beers and there was no cider or soft drinks. Dogs and children are welcome, but it isn't the most interesting place for kids. Drinks are quite expensive but worth it. £12 for glass of prosecco. Steps away from the embankment tube station making it easy to get to and walking distance of Covent garden and central London. This is a real gem of a place not to be missed.

Lovely patio in the shade with large selection of bottles/glasses. Lots of meat and cheese boards as well as salads. The caves looked amazing but we opted for the patio.

Just like another contributor I remember dining here decades ago, so with some time to spare before taking a speedboat from embankment to the Thames Flood Barrier why not enjoy some wine and cheese and maybe a homemade scotch egg. Sunday 11th August and intensely hot I asked to sit inside. Seating area so dark could not read menu, so took menu to bar where there was adequate lighting but no seating for me. I ordered and was told to go back to my darkly lit seat or head outside. Thought that give my many years ofhistory with Gordons I would do as I was told and sit outside, as at least bright though overly hot. Then I was told I coild not order items from bar, as outside is a different system and I would have to wait and order again from scratch. I despair, this was just too much and of course I then left and so did many decades of great memories dining here.

A day out in central London with my granddaughter she asked if I had ever been here. Yes frequently when young, now 82. We dropped in late evening for drinks and cheese. At the gate we were announced to the outside team, immediately seated and given a menu. Our service was quick polite and efficient with style and impeccable service. As we left, the stairs up to the lavatories were too steep for me to attempt and without any hesitation I was offered a visit to the staff lavatory. I haven't been here since about the age of 18 and I can’t fault it. So pleased it’s now part of my granddaughters life in my home city.

Impressive, the ambience is really good and I ordered a few slices of cheese that I wasn’t expecting much, but the presentation and quantity was very good. Many options of wine. The only thing is it closed too early, for this kind of places, I was expecting not to be reminded to leave (kindly) at 22pm. We were 3, and spent nearly 70 pounds for a bottle of wine and the table of cheese, acceptable I think.

We've been looking forward to this place for a while. There is usually a queue if the weather is really nice, especially in the evenings (there are no reservations). We were a table of 4 and waited for 45min~1 hour to be seated. It has a nice atmosphere, could see plenty of people on dates. We got 2 bottles of wine and a cheeseboard (twice because the wine was really good and came up to 70~80£ per person. Of course this is dependent on what wine you order). It Is a slightly expensive place but they have a big wine list, good cheese selection and nice atmosphere outside. The service was also quick! Not something I'd do everyday, but highly recommended.

This place is glorious. My dad first took me - I though he was mad and we were going to get murdered, but down those stairs are an elysian field of barrels of all sorts of fortified wine, sold by the beaker at the time. Last time I went I ended up outside, which was welcome due to the weather but less fun. Two waiters had a fight though, which made up for it.

Had to complain.. waited for food 30 mins. Our friends got their food. Ours did not come till we complained. Think they had forgotten about our order.

My favourite wine bar! Outdoor seated terrace for the summer and cosy inside for the winter. It’s a great escapism from the busy streets of central London.

Stuffed with wine, cheese and darkness

After a short wait to get a table the waiter was very pushy for us to make an order and then demand payment with no offer of a bill and it wasn’t till later that a service charge was added to an expensive bottle of wine that was questionable I asked for some ice with the wine but this was forgotten and as we left after sitting on one of the outside tables we wished to use the loo but were downright refused by the staff which I have never experienced before seeing as we were paying customers! I used to visit here regularly but won’t be going back!

The presentation of baguette bread, delicious and various cheeses with wine suitable for every taste was great 🤤 we chose it as dinner and I can say that it was quite satisfying 👌🏻 it has both indoor and outdoor areas. My recommendation is that the indoor area has a pleasant ambience in an area used as a cellar.

First stop on a birthday trip down from Manchester, I have fond memories of visiting years ago and it's still as awesome

First time visitor and was very impressed. Top notch wine, food, and service. We arrived around 3pm, which seemed like the perfect time as we were seated right away and avoided the large queue that had assembled by the time we left. Hope to visit again in the future.

We ordered some wine, but no food. They didn't have any riesling. Instead we got another one that also tasted good! Overall it was a great experience.

Gordon’s is one of our go to places when in London, and for this visit we tried the wine flight, what a great experience. It was a busy Saturday, but all the waiting staff couldn’t have been more polite and helpful. Special thanks to Bruna, who when presenting our wine and cheese pairing asked if we wanted her to go through the selections? We did and she spoke with knowledge and enthusiasm. Great location, great service where nothing was too much trouble.

The atmosphere was great, the wine was delicious, but the food was a bit unappetizing, and the cheese had a bit of a bitter taste that I couldn't stomach.

Classic place in tunnels that feel like you're in mediaeval London

Incredible spot, even if it is highly touristed. Underground candlelit dining area makes for a great atmosphere and the wine was delicious as well.

Absolutely gem in London. Totally unique experience. Pork pie is amazing! A must to visit. Always walked past this place with my mum back in the 80s but never visited even though my mum worked in the city back in the 40s. Really wished I could have shared a glass of wine with here here. Such a lovely venue then and now. Please visit with your loved ones

Unbelievable experience, absolutely nothing like we expected, from the low ceilings,the dimly lit candle cavern to the sound of the tube running nearby. The staff couldn't be more helpful on advising which wine would suit the meat and cheese board we ordered.

Favourite wine bar in London! Such a gorgeous selection of wines and food. The charcuterie boards are great value for money. Always have been well looked after here. They have heated umbrella capanes over head for a chiller evening. The inside is a lovely cool cave like feel.
