Bull in City of London, Westminster

Stayed in one of their rooms for a week-long work trip. Fantastic location - perfect, central with Liverpool St Station across the road for super easy access to Heathrow. Good sized room with modern fit out and a good work desk. Communal pantry (at no extra cost) was a godsend with jetlag. In-room wifi was poor though and I didn't see anyone checking in or out which is fine but it's not quite a hotel for better and worse. Will definitely stay here again.

Great pub in an excellent location. Close to restaurants and other bars, just across from Liverpool St station so get anywhere quickly. Walking to Tower Bridge and other sites like the Sky Garden. The guys carried our bags up the narrow steep staircase which was awesome. Room was a well appointed suite with separate sitting room, bath and balcony.

Classic office workers' pub, with the added bonus that they sell Blue Moon and add the distinctive and indispensable slice of 🍊. I like the vibe of the place and that you can have a quiet drink on the street with friends.

Stayed only one night at the room Fisher Folly. Great room with great amenities. Location of the hotel is also very practical. Would stay there again.

Wonderful hotel. Most of the bad reviews reference difficulty checking in after-hours, just be sure to let them know. We loved it so much we extended our three day stay to a full week. Beware the stairs: higher rooms will have lots of stairs to get to them, but it did help two out-of-shape people prepare for lots of walking and sightseeing. It was quite nice to not have the elevator noise typical of a lot of hotels.

Rooms are really nice and fantastic location. Check in and out seamless!

This pub invents up beer prices, so check your receipts. My story: First round of 2 pints was £14. Then they try to bill me £15 for the same round an hour later. When I challenged this I got a lot of hostility from the person serving me ("There is no manager here for you"). The second bar person had the sense to correct the price. It's not about the money, but it's annoying to be told "the beer isn't programmed into the computer so we don't know how much to bill". Know your prices and be consistent with them. Otherwise its incompetence and feels dodgy.

Came in here as our choice to watch the England game on 6/7. Reason being as it's down a side street, out of the way of mass England fans. The pub was busy but not rammed, big screen tv, friendly atmosphere, friendly staff, beer prices....well its London £7.50 for a madri 😏

Can’t give a good score because they refused to serve drinks when we arrived at 10.15pm on a Saturday night. So, it’s a bad pub, don’t bother

This is probably worst pub and a customer service in London. They offering cocktails but they don't have half ingredients to make them. Bartenders do not care a bit. 3 bartender girls sitting at the end of the bar. They chatting and laughing loud and completely ignoring the customers. Is shame cos is really beautiful venue with great location.

Great location for business travelers due to the proximity of many large financial institutions. Very convenient to Liverpool St station as well for access to the underground and Greater Anglia Trains. The bar downstairs is a good size, comfy, and clean. The rooms can be on the smaller side but considering the age of the building that’s to be expected. Check in process was easy, if you’re checking in outside of standard hours make sure to let them know. If arranged in advance you’ll have no issue. There are a fair amount of stairs so those who find it difficult going up and down should request a room on the ground or first floor. Overall a great experience!

Great pub and excellent rooms as well. Decent price and the breakfast was spot on. Rooms are up a windy staircase but when you get to them you wouldn't believe you're in central London. Great pub atmosphere, cosy and spacious at the same time. Really enjoyed my stay and would recommend. 👍🏼

I can't comment on the hotel, as I haven't stayed there. However, my experience of the bar was pretty awful. Quite early on a Wednesday evening, all 4 real ales were off, and no Guinness either! Bar staff were extremely rude, they seemed more interested with looking at their phones than serving customers. Needless to say, we left and went somewhere else, I shan't be going again, there are far better pubs nearby.

Don’t book this hotel, and read the reviews to understand why. I arrived just before midnight and hotel was CLOSED, with no way to enter / access my room. I was stuck outside freezing. I tried calling - no answer. But then again I tried calling this hotel several times over several days prior to my arrival, and nobody answered the phone then either. I sent messages / emails, no reply. I am editing this review the next morning at 10am, and the hotel STILL has not responded to my messages, nor has anyone called me back. Judging from the other reviews here, this is a common occurrence… They will say “we messaged you to notify you of the check-in times” but they very easily could have just called me in the week leading up to my arrival. ESPECIALLY when they know this is a recurring problem for their guests. Doesn’t take a rocket-scientist to figure this out… I finally checked myself into a neighbouring hotel at 2am, and they told me they’d heard of many people experiencing this exact same type of thing with the Bull and Hide “hotel”.

We went for a business lunch here - they have very limited options and weren't able to tell one of our party who has a fish allergy whether or not the chips would be contaminated by the fish. Good atmosphere for a few drinks after work.

Pubs is advertised to open until 11 but they wouldn’t serve us at 21.45 on the basis they were closing. Very disappointing. Try other pubs around which do in fact stay open to stated hours.

Well i dislike it when there are 2 people at a bar left and i get there first and the person finishes serving the person before me and then turns to the person who came after me. Thats exactly what happened here on saturday 11th oct at 20.45. Fortunately the guy after me said i was next i thanked him. I then asked for a bottle of peroni which she placed in front of the guy. She corrected it and did nt even apologise just a look of disdain. Only thing she got right was charging 6gbp for a bottle of peroni. Good job she ain t looking after my kids.

I went to the bar for my drink and i was next in line with only one member of staff behind the bar. Before i got served another person came to the bar after me. When the lady behind the bar finished serving the person before me, she immediately turned to him before serving me. Fair play to the guy who said i was next. I then ordered a bottle of peroni , the server then placed the drink in front of the other customer ! Before realising it was me and then picked it up and placed it in from of me on the counter. I just got a disdainful look when i looked in disbelief. Did she do anything right ? Well she actually charged me 6 gbp i hope that was the right price. I got served at 20.45 on saturday the 11th nov. Yes the lady with the nosering.

Decent pub near Liverpool Street station which also has bedrooms. I met friends there for a beer and a chat. We would have stayed longer were it not for the live music, which was loud and IMHO dreadful. Probably even better at lunchtime.

Nice stylish rub-a-dub in the centre of the city. About 5 mins walk from Liverpool Street, so a convenient place to meet if you have travelled in to town. Nice range of beers available, and service was good (only us in the pub....but we were in there for an early start at 11am!).

We went for a quiet drink at the end of our night, had drinks and crisps which were fine. Atmosphere was chilled. Only issue was the ladies toilet was flooded out all over the floor and out the door from the toilet bowl. Looked like it had been leaking for a while. Came back up and went to report to staff but there was no-one behind the bar, they were round the corner from the bar on their phones.

NO RESERVEN AQUÍ. Nos cancelaron el vuelo, por lo que hicimos la reserva rápido para esa misma noche tener un alojamiento en el que quedarnos, nos presentamos en el hotel y estaba cerrado, encima nadie contestaba al teléfono. Finalmente nos tuvimos que buscar otro hotel. Al día siguiente acudimos al hotel a reclamar y la recepcionista nos dijo que nos devolverían el dinero de la reserva, pero SORPRESA, eso no ha pasado. Me he puesto en contacto con booking y me han informado de que no han notificado nada (lo que quiere decir que nos mintieron en la cara, diciéndonos que se pondrían en contacto con booking para la devolución del dinero)

Pub review only… absolutely revolting and dirty place. 8pm and the toilets dirty and there is broken glass everywhere. Near the station that’s all good about it

Standard pub but no real atmosphere. The location is the best part.

WORST EXPERIENCE DON'T GO TO THIS HOTEL! Despite having warned that I was going to arrive late to the property (my flight was delayed) when I arrived at the hotel there was NOBODY, NOBODY answered the phone and I was left stranded in the street with no one to help me during the night. The next day I was told that my reservation had been cancelled automatically because I had not checked in the day before. I have not been refunded despite having paid almost 800 euros in advance for two nights. Horrible treatment from the staff and horrible experience, do not go.

The Bull and The Hide : I arrived at 11pm and Everything was closed ! No e-mail, no call to warm me on the latest potential checkin ! So I was on my own in the street at 11pm, looking for another hotel ! I paid 443€ they don't refunded me, neither repied to my message Just a shame ! Never again I strongly not recommend this place. They don't even deserve 1*

I was made aware by e-mail the day of my arrival that they would no longer be serving food, despite having reserved several months ahead. Additionally the room we had (heath suite) had a horrendous odor like a sewer. An employee arrived w room spray saying “this had never happened before” 👀 and that there were no other rooms available. He said he’d get us a discount on the room. Needless to say, awful night with loud pub people in the street. When we checked out and spoke to the manager Monika, she said she knew nothing about the issue and would investigate and email me with a refund. It has been 1 week with no response to 3 separate emails. Overall not trustworthy, manipulative esp with the late disclosure of the lack of meal service. They clearly didn’t want us to cancel so waited to the last minute to advise. I’ll not be back and recommend finding a more trustworthy place to stay. There are lots.

By far the best bar in the city! It’s got such a great atmosphere for a very homely! The staff are always on point and especially Pais, he’s a real gentleman.

Love this place! Feel at home and staff are great. Big shout out to Pais for his hospitality and caring attitude. Always willing to make sure you feel comfortable and makes sure it’s a great spot to be.

The Bull is a fantastic place! The service is excellent and the atmosphere is perfect! I really enjoy going here on a regular basis. Every time I am in the pub Pais is always there making sure that everyone is having a great experience and is provided the highest quality of service. I highly recommend this establishment!

Awful pub. Was going to the open mic night, but there was a huge dog in. What dog enjoys pints, or entertainment? My husband is asthmatic and has been hospitalised twice, for over a week each time, after dog induced asthma attacks. I explained this to the bar manager (my husband stayed outside), she just said 'we allow dogs'. Bet that you don't treat customers with other severe allergies that way. You should have warning signs, saying 'dogs allowed, allergic customers stay away". Anyway, we feel very much like third class citizens, after dog owners and their mutts. Only Spoons and a very few other pubs are now dog free. What a life.

Great little boozer fantastic atmosphere

Beware of the lazy bar staff. Arrived at 20:50 for a drink, but barman (clearly on Facebook) said they were closed. 20:50! Doesn’t look very closed to me. I hope the pub is doing very well financially, because if not this chap could be part of the problem. Go to Lady Abercorns instead, friendly service and lovely bar.

Stumbled across this pub whilst looking for an evening tipple. Nice cosy bar with polite staff and well priced drinks. The only disappointment was the we walked in at last orders at about 930pm, which seemed a touch early for central London. Otherwise would definitely recommend.

A really cosy pub. Nicely decorated. Clean facilities. The staff were friendly and the service was good. I really liked the decor. Didn't mind that it is set back in a quieter street. The people who visited were a nice crowd.

We only use the bar downstairs didn't stay in the hotel there was a live band setting up and as we wanted to talk to each other and we left before they starting up their noise

Just used the pub. Busy, but relatively attentive service. Ran out of London Pride so had to settle for something else for second pint. Didn't accept American Express

Couldn't fault the pub. Friendly staff, great location, comfortable room. No food here other than breakfast and snacks from the pantry, but plenty of takeaways and restaurants nearby. Can get really busy after work and quite noisy, but you are almost opposite the station.

We went there on a rainy afternoon. The pub had a nice atmosphere with good drinks and very friendly staff but sadly no hot food.

It’s such a shame this is a Green King pub, the beer is awful - sadly overpriced Neck Oil is the best they have in offer for people that like quality craft beer.

There are many stairs. The room is cozy but carpets could be cleaned. There is a shared kitchen for tea etc. It’s next to a school of sorts and on top of a robust bar. Breakfast not really designed for vegan fare.

Zentrale Lage, sehr gutes Frühstück.

Positiv hervorzuheben ist definitiv die Lage und die Ausstattung der Zimmern. Das war’s dann aber auch mit den positiven Aspekten. Wer es gerne etwas ruhiger hat, ist hier definitiv falsch. Es ist zwar nett, dass eine Schallisolierung an den Fenstern angebracht ist. Unvorteilhaft ist es aber, wenn diese nicht richtig schließt. Abgesehen davon, wäre es auch mit richtiger Isolierung nicht auszuhalten - die Zimmern zur Straße hin sind eine Zumutung - laute Musik vom Pub bis spät am Abend (teilweise nach 22:30 Uhr) Menschen, die sich betrinken und das nach einem Tag mit 25.000 Schritten. Auch nachts (bis ca. 02:30) sieht es nicht viel besser aus, immer wieder schreiende, feiernde Menschen und laute Autos. Null Erholung nach einem anstrengenden Tag!!! Wir waren 5 Tage hier - das Zimmer wurde kein einziges Mal geputzt, das einzige was gemacht wurde, war das Bett und wir bekamen täglich frische Handtücher. Einem Fernseher gab es zwar, jedoch fehlte eine Fernbedienung dazu. Die europäischen Steckdosen im Badezimmer sind auch ganz nett, wenn sie nur funktionieren würden. Das Personal wirkt mehr genervt als freundlich. Man hat das Gefühl als Gast des „Hotels“ nicht willkommen zu sein. Unter einem HOTEL verstehe ich etwas anderes.

The check in process wasn’t very smooth. None of the 2 members of staff could find the right key for the room. Took about 15 minutes. Then the room which was supposed to be a suite and described as having a lounge area did not have any seating in a lounge area like the pictures or description. The window in the room would not close which was not good as the room faced the street so I was kept awake by police cars and traffic all night until about 3:30am. Also the handle on the back of the lock on the door to lock the room had come off so you had to tightly grip a small button to lock the door. Explained about this to the lady when checking out and was just told thanks for letting them know. No apology at all which was quite disappointing.

If you want a lovely bar away from the football crowds on a Saturday this place is perfect. We had large spirits served in cut glass tumblers and sat outside watching the world go by. Great location and interior.

Beautiful air conditioning, lovely room with a huge toilet / shower room, but it was right at the top. Small shared kitchen between 2 rooms with a fridge with soft drinks. Really high climb - about 5 floors up and very small staircase but it was worth it. You need to be fit. Breakfast was good. Nice pub.

The staff of The Bull and The Hide were so friendly and helped with navigating us around London for places to eat. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable.

Stayed for 3 nights. First impressions were good but then we taken to our suite which meant climbing 59 stairs up a spiral staircase and there were even more stairs to the suites on the next floor, definitly not suitable for anybody with walking difficulties and needs to be made clear to anybody thinking of booking a stay. Nice size room with a large ensuite but dratically in need of updating. No wardrobe in room just a wooden pole hanging from ceiling with only 3 coathangers. Maid service for the room was non existent, only daily towel change. Bed not made, cups not washed, carpets not hoovered. Communal kitchen to make drinks was not restocked throughut our stay. Pub is very busy early evening but on our return on the first night at 9pm it was closed, cannot comment on the other 2 nights as we did not return until later. Breakfast was good.

Choose this as a pub but found they closed early so couldn't use this as last port of call for late drink which was one of reasons for choice service and staff very pleasant choose a suite which was up quite a way by stairs so not suitable for anyone with mobility problems

Nice pub... wrong music. The young bar staff are playing the music they like....and very loud....not the music to suit the ambience and audience they are serving. It was off putting to be honest.....shame as its a nice pub.

Been years since being in there, I ordered a drink and it was my fault it was wrong. They gave me the drink I wanted and said I could keep the old one, not just me, but others. Hands down great place and really friendly.

What can I say absolutely awful,the room we got wasn’t what was booked and they certainly don’t match the photos so very falsely advertised, instead of trying to rectify our booking we were told quite swiftly to go and stay somewhere else but no refund given. The carpets have never seen an hoover skirting boards thick with dust, thick dust and dirt in corners hairs on bathroom floor which definately didn’t belong to us the sink had scum around it and I won’t even start on the toilet, No fridge for the complimentary drinks which were left in front of a hot window but that didn’t matter as nothing to open them with.No where to sit and do hair and makeup not even a usable mirror in the room, very noisy and the room lit up like Blackpool illuminations from the building opposite which seemed to obscure my promised city view lots of narrow stairs to climb which you are not warned about so if like me you have mobility issues good luck.If this place caught fire not sure how you would get out alive .

Um pub extremamente característico. Ambiente excelente, atendimento idem, o que é um ótimo diferencial para Londres. Recomendo pra quem deseja visitar e experimentar um clássico ambiente dos pubs britânicos.

Good place needs more beer on supply

Nice staff, good atmosphere drink a bit expensive but today this is just the normal. My only complaint is that in a lot of old pubs with basement toilets, the smell can drift into the bar area. Maybe time to invest in a door enclosure at the lobby at the top of the stairs.

All real ales were off, no Guinness and several wines were unavailable. It's the Monty Python pub equivalent to the cheese shop.

This pub would be great if you could actually get a beer. The staff never check the beer lines so every time we come here for a lunchtime pint we leave beerless. You have one job
